Re: Satellite C850 and UEFI BIOS settings

I have laptop Satellite C850 - 1 2 with Windows 8.1

When I boot, it shows a toshiba logo, not the original flag 8 Windows. It is not so much a problem, but I can't change because the parameter is blocked within the parameters of the UEFI. How can I change this?

I already tried to change through the windows in different ways, but each time it will change the UEFI!

Help?

To be honest I don't know what to do, you mean with blocked settings, but it can be changed in the BIOS settings.
What you need is to make complete OS stop http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm and after having done that, you can restart the laptop and enter the BIOS (try F12) settings and then you can change all the settings of the BIOS.

  • Satellite M10 and update BIOS

    Hello

trying to make my first laptop BIOS update on my BIOS 1.40 M10. Date of 2003.
I downloaded version 1.50 updated windows and where to extract the zip file and it starts to run I get "Toshiba common modules is not installed.

But back to the driver downloads and download Modules common cmod-en20071113104042 and install. Run the BIOS update and I get the same common Modules not installed.
Anyone can shed some light on my problems?

The machine performs a clean install of XP Professional Service pack 3 and has BIOS version 1.40 and 512 MB RAM.
I want to upgrade the RAM and have read on Toshiba takes the M10 supported 2 GB of RAM with the bios update.
At the minute when I go to crucial.com and scan the system tells me max supported is 1 GB.

No answers or help would be welcome.

    Hello

At first, I must say that the BIOS update will not change with the support of RAM. It depends on the hardware platform and not update the BIOS. So it's not going to help at all. Your laptop can handle with 2 GB of RAM maximum end of the story.

Satellite Pro M10 is old enough laptop model and I am 100% sure, update the BIOS, as a file is OK, but right now, there is no SP3 and I can imagine that there is the problem.
So if you are satisfied, how does your laptop leave and enjoy this good old classic. Don't don't need BIOS update at all.

  • Several questions about Satellite C850 and L850

    Hello

One of our schools recently brought 20 L850 and C850 Toshiba computers laptops.
As most of the staff allows to connect to his projector VGA port, VGA The port must be strong.

In recent days, we had 2 laptops with the Port VGA brought away from the laptop!
Just one thumb on the cable when connected breaks this port,
and we cannot obtain compensation from Toshiba, because it is our fault and has only 1 YEAR!
Fixing this problem will cost us an entirely new mobo that will most likely cost to buy a new laptop.

Out of the 20 that we made we had more half with its imperfections within the first year of use. * under the EU regulations with respect to the point of being quality market and adapted to the use that these issues should be fixed for at least 3 years from the date of purchase if not, the item is unsuitable for sale.

Other issues we have had with these laptops within the first year of purchase were overheating, with the Fans to stop.

We had a hard drive replaced TWICE with us having to buy one ourselves because Toshiba has refused to replace it as it was out of warranty of 2 weeks. (in only 1 year warranty)

And finally a L850 that won't start. It stops at the Toshiba before even loading screen to the BIOS. (faulty CPU or memory) Once again this cell rupture within 2 years.

REPORT QUALITY / PRICE? I do not.

I think of course to departs Toshiba laptops in the future for our chain of 18 schools which are due to cell replacements.

We have also more than 100 HP Compaq Laptops in 2 schools in 2009, once is not what we asked HP for repairs. What happened to good quality computers laptops these days...?

And what happened to the screws next to the VGA port to hold the laptop VGA cable to prevent the VGA problem...

    Not at all impressed.

    Hello

Sorry to hear all this. Of course, this isn't the best advice on Toshiba laptops, but the first thing that I m wondered after reading your ad was: why they bought these models L and C?

Like any other laptop manufacturer Toshiba offers various models with different hardware platforms and different prices. Following my logic books used in the school must be fairly robust and designed to be more in use. If you compare the L and C series laptops with notebook series P for example, you will notice the difference in design, quality and manufacturing.

Of course, there are big price difference and I can't imagine school have little budget and must turn to get machines but also save money.

What else can be said? It's really annoying to have this kind of problems, especially if you need these machines to work. My only advice to you is to pick up more info on laptops of next time. It can be Toshiba or any other laptop manufacturer. Best thing you can do is to contact your local dealer and check several different models. Focus on quality and design.

    Bye and good luck

  • Satellite C870-12F - shaded BIOS settings

Recently, I noticed that I can not change the settings in the BIOS more, almost all of the settings are grayed out. I don't know when it happened, perhaps after update BIOS version 1.6 but it could also happened after the upgrade to Windows 8. I'm not sure. I know that it was ok before.

What I've noticed, is that in the post-test (where you can use F2) on the lower right side of the screen there is a sort of button / stop Logo I ever noticed before.

Efforts to push some buttons falied to change settings in the BIOS.
    Hope someone can help out.
    Thank you...

Have you enabled Fast Boot in the BIOS?
Try disabling this also in BIOS trying to define the default settings.
I remember in the BIOS you will need to press F9 to get default and save it by pressing F10

  • Since the update by Satellite L750 - Win7 for Win10 I lost access to the UEFI BIOS)

    Hello everyone

Since my upgrade to Windows 10 32 bit Windows 7 32 bit, I am unable to access the BIOS (UEFI).

I try to access BIOS because I want to do a clean install of Windows 10 64-bit, DVD, or USB key.

I did the setting-> security update & -> Recovery-> Advanced Startup restart now-> then I clicked on troubleshooting-> Advanced Options-> and I can not find the UEFI (BIOS) settings.

When I start my computer I lost the option "Press the F2 or F12 key" to access the BIOS.

    Thanks for your help.

    My computer: Satellite L750, PSK2YA-0L0802S

OK if you are interested in the topic you can try with a facility for testing purposes, but if there are many different issues and problems, I think that you should install the recovery original image again and use your laptop with 'presets' again.

You can enter the BIOS settings?

In General, you can try to start the installation of USB if you press F12 on startup and choose USB as a boot device. It works for you?

I can imagine that Toshiba service provider in your country can help you with this. They must have access to the database of Toshiba and also access to all previous versions of the BIOS.

  • Satellite C850 - fan slows down videos + agitated

    Hello

I'm here to this post on my fan for laptop, my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite C850 and there an i3 processor

I know that's not good for games
the only games I play is war Thunder, minecraft, and things such as no major games for PC speck albums but its all I can get at the moment

I also do YouTube and when I'm trying to play and record I notice that my fan upward speed was normal frames then all of a sudden my fan slows to 20% and I get 5 images and very choppy videos

If someone could help me that would be very nice.
    Thanks :)

    Hello

From my point of view of a few notebook slow downs due to CPU Overload and temperature internal.
Due to the high amount of processes that are running at the same time, the CPU and the GPU to go up to the limit. The result is a high heat generated by the CPU and the GPU, and it's why modules and the cooling fan run faster.

After that will decrease the performance of the GPU/CPU to reduce the heat. This process slow down the fan and, of course, this affects video performance.

I think first of all you must check if the vents are free of dust. The CPU and the GPU require proper cooling and therefore cooling grids as well as turbine must be free of dust and debris.

I recommend also to check the window power management settings advanced.
There you can change the mode of cooling as well as the performance of the CPU and GPU.

Last but not the lower installation of a clean system could also be useful. Why?
Because the system might be overloaded by different background processes that slow down the system and lock the CPU

Can someone help me? I don't want windows 7 I like windows 8.1.

    Thank you for your help

It's really good that you posted this question. So far on this forum many people ask the same questions, but all have been at the origin of new machines of Win8.
Now we have the situation with the old machine Win7 but with Win8 preinstalled.

Solution for other people needed to proceed to a complete stop and after doing this, it was possible to enter the BIOS settings. Check it please http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2B03EY0002R01.htm

This situation does not for me so here's a question for you:
When you start your laptop, I guess you can see the Toshiba start screen. With F2 option is shown on the bottom of the screen?

If someone has the original settings, I would be grateful for any help.

    Derek has soon

    Hello Derek

Use the F2 key to enter the BIOS settings and change the order of boot devices. This option is under the STARTUP tab. Otherwise, you can insert the recovery CD when the unit is turned OFF. Turn it on and immediately press the C button. keep it down for a few seconds and unit is forced from the CD/DVD drive.
