Re: Satellite L500 - 12 p overheating issues

Hi all

I have a strange problem with overheating. When the processor is idle, my temperature is between 60 ° C and the speed of the cooling fan is woking near the maximum. If I surf or listen to music, my laptop is very hot! In addition, I do not know why fun should run all the time, as there are no heavy processes running.

For example, currently, I have Winamp and Firefox (with a few tabs) open, as well as utorrent works in the background, and the temperature and the antivirus protection is 75 C!

I don't know what to do, I read somewhere that the BIOS update will not solve the problem, but I am always aware of this, since I've never done this. I installed the default version (1.4) and the most recent is 2.1, from what I've seen.

Note that I have Windows 7 Professional. What is the solution?

BIOS update is not very sensitive to the update of the BIOS needs to be done while the Windows operating system is running.

    Hello Thunder

Believe me, that's not easy to discuss this issue. Generally mobile phones have God, cooling systems, and something like that should not happen. When you use Notepad on a regular, with other words placed on computer desk laptop s cooling fans and cooling grills is not blocked and laptop can resume his breath and material can be cooled properly.

To be honest, I can't imagine that something like this is possible. Initially, all plastic components used in the laptop can handle with a high enough temperature and, second, USB ports are placed on the side and it is not logical for me. I m wondering how high must be the laptop temperature when this happens.

In this case I highly recommend to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider as soon as possible. They check your laptop. They can see which produce inside and give you useful tips how you use your laptop computer in the future.

By the way: what model of laptop do you have?

    Good luck.

  • Satellite A300D-13Y - extreme overheating issues?

    Hello world

    I have a Toshiba A300D Y13 Satellity system since mid-2008.
This is the AMD platform with the graphics card of Turion 64 X 2 TL - 60 & ATI Radeon HD 3650. Recently, he began to fade. First the system began to slown down extremely after awhile which was in early 2010. And now the system begins to shut down within 2 minutes then in the game (same counter strike 1.6 it kills).

I started to wonder what was going on so I installed GPU. Z and Core Temp on my system and I saw that the CPU would run on 62 ° C in "idle" mode and the graphics card at 60 ° C. While in game Core temp would climb to more than 78 ° C and 75 ° C graphics card. So I decided to clean up the dust system, as it has been described in this forum. To my surprise he wasn't still so much dust in there it was almost nothing. But nevertheless the base temperature is now the graphics card to 46 ° C and 43 ° C in idle. But always as soon as I start a game or even flash the base temperature program and the graphics card temp totalled more than 78 ° C and the laptop continues to close immediately. Since it was still overheating, I thought that maybe the system is too low (because it sucks air from the bottom and there are less than 1 cm of space between the desktop and the laptop). I joined to 4 small foam pit with some adhesive tape to it to increase it a little.

Well idle temp of the kernel sunk to 41 ° C and 42 ° C for the graphics card. He now runs a little longer in games or so flash watchig, but it still turns off because it is still overheating. I wonder if anyone knows what the problem could be that the system is still overheating.

    Thanks in advance

  • Satellite L500 - noise Squeak and mic/noise issues

    Hello
I hope you can help with my sound problems!

    I have a Satellite L500 which is 18mth old.

    * Something *.
In March, I had problems with my microphone / sound. If I had my volume of more than 50%, I would get a terrible grinding sound feedback that has been difficult to mute (IE due support on mute a couple of times).

As I got a 2-year warranty, I sent him away and they said they fixed it but is short-lived. The problem came immediately. The only solution I found to have its volume by more than 50% was to completely turn off the microphone.

    * Two problem *.
For the last few weeks I've been to randomly make this top placed, continuous his squealing that occurs usually when I am in public with my laptop in my backpack (annoying!). I have to continue to support on mute for the squeal to stop. Interestingly, my cell phone is cut off when it starts. Sometimes, my phone is hot when it occurs. Is this overheating problem?

All the solutions for both of my sound problems? Should I send it to get my warranty repair? When I argued that it was not fixed the first time, they said Windows is probably corrupt and is not under warranty.

    Thank you!

  • Overheating issued with newly installed Windows 7 x 64-Satellite L350D - 10Z

I just upgraded from vista to Windows 7 x 64 on my laptop Satellite L350D 10Z.
Unfortunaly I have had overheating issues since.

The computer began to stop himself after awhile of use, I downloaded speedfan and discovered that the cell was operating at 95 degrees Celsius while playing games, I chose in speedfan that fans would go to 100% at all times

I also downloaded the latest BIOS update but I still read temperatures ranging from 75 to 85 degrees Celsius, the laptop has stopped to close itself to overheat, but it still don't feel safe.

    Is this a known issue?
What can I do keep the temperature down?

    Hello

The temperature seems to be too high and this is the reason why your laptop stops automatically.
You said that what happens during the game
During games all appliances are running with maximum performance and create a lot of heat dissipation

Clock graphics Toshiba down driver the GPU if a threshold has been reached
Other drivers don't support this overheating of procreation.
Therefore, you should use the Toshiba graphics card driver!
Other drivers may be used but only at your own risk!

In addition, it must ensure that the unique cooling grids are dust-free and fresh air could circulate properly never use the laptop on the lap, couch or bet that it would close the vents and could lead to overheating!

  • Satellite L500 - stop and a fan problem

    Hello.

A few months my Toshiba Satellite L500-1 stops frequently due to overheating, which occurs when the intensive use of the laptop (for games, photomanipulation etc..). However, I don't know what I can do about it. I won't open my laptop, unless I am told to open my laptop computer to perform a specific task.

Today, my cell phone off again. However, when I turn back I noticed that something happened with my fan. At this point, my laptop doesn't overheat not quickly as usual. Instead of 90 + % fanspeed there around 58-60% (depending on the Toshiba PC Health Monitor). However, I noticed that something happened with my fan. After that I noticed that the fan will sometimes be a trigger, that sounds once every 10 minutes when the laptop is under heavy use.

What should I do now? It worries me, I'd be worried about it? Perhaps another user from Toshiba with a similar problem can give me support. I'd be happy.

    Thank you.

    Hello

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem.
When you use your laptop do you use desktop space?
Do you use it with power supply?

What power profile do you use when laptop stops?
Have you tried changing the settings of food or something else?

Before you start using it intensively have you tried to terminate background processes, disconnect the devices, just to see if that will help?

  • Satellite L500-164: 15.6 "does not appear fullscreen in games

    Hello

I recently bought the L500-164 and installed Windows 7 64-bit. Everything works perfectly, just a thing which annoys me incredibly.

Whenever I play a game (Counterstrike, Warcraft3, Warsow, soldier) is a big black band on the left and right, so basically the screen of the game resembles a quadrat. I saw even more on my old 15.4 "laptop, because he was able to view as wide screen.

I installed the new catalyst, but is not possible within the REC to enlarge the screen of the game for the full amount...
I really want to solve this problem and I hope for your help.

    Thank you!

    Hello

Normally, every game, you can change the screen resolution and I think that you didn t set the resolution of the screen to the right. As far as I know the Satellite L500-164 has a native resolution of 1366 x 768. did you choose this resolution?
If you choose another resolution that uses another format, you have these bands on the left and right sides.

In addition, you must use the Toshiba display driver directly. Other drivers are not pre-tested and don t have protection against overheating.

  • Cannot Flash the BIOS on Satellite L500 due to low battery

    Hey all,.

Obtained as Satellite L500 (PSLS0A-084002) here. I have the battery not charging issue and everything what I find point to an update of the BIOS.

Of course, there is a new BIOS for download from the drivers of laptops. So I have the file WinPhlash "sl500 (mv) _bios_w210.exe. However, by running the fact falling before flashing the BIOS with an error number: 144.

It is because of the battery is bellow 10% charge however I can't it above 10 percent fee that the laptop does not recognize it.

There must be a way of to WinPhlash running without check. I read that you can run it with the "/ forceit" switch and who will be ignoring the error, but that was for some time and it seems WinPhlash have changed this as she always spits the error.

I read running back help but after creating a boot cd back, he claims the exe cannot be run from BACK (ffffuuuuuuuu!).

Any help appreciated. Thank you =).

Maybe it sounds silly now but there at - it something serious, why you want to update the BIOS on your machine? I mean if everything is OK, why do you need new BIOS?

In any case, I'm don't know if this will help but please try to remove the battery and check if the update of the BIOS starts if your laptop works on AC only.

  • Satellite L500-13V - his stutters and sometimes portable lock

His stutters all the other songs when playing music, stuttering sometimes results in the laptop locked up and stuck on the nasal sound. Only way to turn off is to remove the battery. Vista 64-bit installed. Nothing installed other that what came with the laptop.

Must be a driver issue, but no update.
Any ideas before returning for refund?

    Hello!

I checked the Web from Toshiba site and there I found a update the sound card driver. This driver is already installed?
In addition, the Web of Toshiba site shows me updating BIOS for Satellite L500. You should try this update, maybe it works.

Alternative I would try the Realtek audio driver directly. Maybe on the Web from Realtek site, you can find a newer version.

My biggest problem is that my computer is a Toshiba Satellite L500-13W and * I can only activate wireless by pressing FN + F8 *. I can't stay with this issue much more. I already looked in this forum and other sites, but none of the solutions have solved my problem.

Does that mean exactly? What have you already tried exactly?
You should post this very important information what you exactly did.

  • Satellite L500-164 - memory graphics type?

    Hello

I'm new here. Today, I found the Satellite L500-164. I think it's a very good laptop. Especially the price is good.
Now, there's an Ati Mobility Radeon 4650 with 1 GB of memory in the L500-164. But my problem is, each site there is another description for the type of memory, sometimes its DDR3, GDDR3 (which is of course preferable) could be. Can you help me with this issue? Do you know what memory graphic type is the L500-164?

Would be nice if you can help me. (and sorry for my bad English ^^)

    Hello!

You can try to GPU - Z as Akuma said identify memory.

But theoretically GDDR3 and DDR3 is the same type of RAM. GDDR3 means * graphics Double data RAM *. So it's just memory specifically designed for use on graphics cards.

Thus, the graphics card's own memory and doesn t share with system memory.

    Good bye

To access the BIOS press F2 at the beginning of the order started immediately after you have switched on the device, press F2 (press several times on the line)

    > 2. I want to upgrade the standard amount of memory from 4 GB to 8 GB.

Toshiba Satellite L500-1ZP laptop takes the type of RAM SODIMM SDRAM PC3-8500 DDR3-1066 MHz 204pin. I would recommend the manufacturer Kingston modules.

    Hey Buddy,

You use the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows? Normally with factory settings (preinstalled Windows from Toshiba) everything should work correctly because this image is pre-tested by Toshiba. Otherwise, it might be a hardware problem.
If you need to reinstall your laptop using the Toshiba recovery disc.

Which driver you use display? You may use Toshiba drivers.

In addition, it could be an overheating problem. You should try to clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow out the dust from the cooling fans.
