  To be honest I n don't know why you think about extensions of file if your laptop turns off by itself, it could be an overheating problem. The laptop would be closed to protect the equipment.
  Never clean your laptop before? If you already have for 3 years and a half there a lot of dust in the cooling fans use so jet of compressed air to blow out the dust.

  Regarding your second question: have you installed most recent display of page download driver Toshiba driver? This is important because Toshiba display drivers are pre-tested and designed for this model. So they work correctly and no problem to don t.
