Re: Satellite P100: need to backup data using Recovery CD for Vista

I have some problems with my laptop and I want to know what should I do a backup of my files before I put the vista recovery cd or I can put it like that?
My installed l will be ok without backup or im going to lose them?

Hello

The use of the recovery CD Toshiba Vista redefines the laptop to factory settings. This means that you will get the same State as at the start.

The recovery CD format the whole HARD drive and installs the image of Toshiba which contains the Win OS Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

If you have installed all the important data and files on the HARD drive, then I would recommend running a backup before you start the installation from the recovery CD.

Good bye

    Hello

In my opinion, there are two solutions. Is, try to get the facilities WXP CD and see if you can fix it using the option to repair Windows XP Home edition or use supplied recovery media and do a clean install of the operating system. After doing this you will put factory once again and everything will be OK again.

  • Satellite P100 - 400 (PSPA6E): display driver does not work with Vista 64 bit?

    Hello

I have a P100-400 (PSPA6E) Satellite and I just got the new version of Windows Vista x64bits. I tried this version of Vista because this series of laptops in the 64-bit processors. Well, the problem was when I downloaded the drivers to display on the site and when I'am install the installer says I'm not a Windows vista OS.

Well actually these drivers only work for Vista x32bits. And I had the same problem with the audio drivers. If Vista was running really slowly and noiselessly, perfect...

What I am asking, that is, if you realize laptops with 64 bit, why aren't you drivers that work with 64 bit systems...

    Hello

In fact 64-bit Toshiba drivers are not available at this time on the Toshiba page.
I think 64-bit drivers are not available because Toshiba doesn't provide any laptops equipped with 64-bit operating system.

But as far as I know that the new 64-bit drivers should appear both text.
I'm also looking for these drivers because I m an owner of the 64-bit version of Vista.

It seems that we have to wait but I m sure that the drivers will be available.

It seems that some devices are not recognized by Vista common drivers that were shipped with the Vista operating system and therefore the new drivers are needed. But because Vista is not official on the market (official start is late January 2007) drivers are not published.

But where did you get the version of Vista 64-bit?

  • Recovery software data and the partition for Vista?

I have a HP desktop computer that started having problems starting. Startup Repair couldn't fix, but showed "no OS installed. I guess it's a corrupted MBR/MBT problem.

In any case, I made the fatal mistake assuming that Vista has the same functionality of XP restore/recovery and would simply repair the file system not complete format/reinstall. Within two seconds, I realized that it was reformatting the drive and disconnected from the computer (because you can't give up a recovery).

Now, of course, the player starts not at all and displays "No MBR".  I removed the disk and put it in an external USB box to see the content. It only shows a new Windows and a few other folders with one or two files system in them.

Anyway, I know that all the old data has been not overwritten in 2 seconds, if it is still there. Not to mention, HP no longer ships of installation disks of Windows and preload in place of the images in a separate partition. I need to recover this option to re - install Vista, in the worst case scenario.

So, I need/file recovery at least get software partition all my data. There are a hundred apps out there, and it is difficult to tell which are the best (they are quite expensive). I can't find any reputable sites that do an actual test on the Soft full - for example, C/Net only tests the features of the limited demo version.

At the very least, I would like to recover my lost data on an external drive, then recover if possible, the installation of Vista partition and do a clean install on the disk.

Are there apps free open source reliable and easy to use? So far, I am considering

You may need to contact the data recovery for it experts.

Be warned: they are very $$$.

    Data recovery:

Use Knoppix Live CD to try to recover your data:

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.

  • Need to backup data before restoring my computer with the dell factory restore?

I experienced some problems with windows so I thought to use the system to dell factory restore.
I have actually three drives 1 is for the n other operating system is for my personal data n the last of them is the recovery partition. And now if I want to restore what should I back up my data on the drive that is not involved with the operating system?
Would there be any deletion of my D drive (not used in the operating system)?
Should I have to backup the personal drive (drive D)?
Or should I just format my C drive (with operating system) and data must be assigned on drive D (personal car)?

You should always back up data.

Dell, ask questions about their recovery process.
Their recovery process will be how you bought, with two only the main road and the recovery partition; but not your data partition

Read the info here on how to use the Dell recovery options:

    Dell recovery options:

I need a join_date of date value maximum for each Department. If max (join_date) has two records for each dept max (end_date) are to be considered. I used a select query

    1     D     1/1/1920     5     8/26/1994
    2     D     8/16/1916     10     8/26/1987

    Hello

This is called a Query Top - N , and this is a way to do it:

    WITH got_r_num AS
    (
         SELECT student.*
         , ROW_NUMBER () OVER ( PARTITION BY dept
                                   ORDER BY join_date DESC
                             , end_date DESC
                           ) AS r_num
         FROM student
    )
    SELECT dept, dep_name, join_date, years_attended, end_date
    FROM got_r_num
    WHERE r_num = 1
    ORDER BY dept
    ;

Another way is similar to what you posted:

    SELECT *
    FROM student
    WHERE (dept, join_date, end_date)
                   IN (
                        SELECT dept
                   , MAX (join_date)
                   , MAX (end_date) KEEP (DENSE_RANK LAST ORDER BY join_date)
                   FROM student
                   GROUP BY dept
                   );

I suspect that the first way (using ROW_NUMBER) will be faster.
In addition, the ROW_NUMBER approach is guaranteed to return only 1 line by Department using the approach of GROUP BY, if there is a link on join_date and end_date then it will return all the contenders in this Department. using ROW_NUMBER, it is easy to add expressions to tie-break as much as you want, and, if there is still a tie, it will be arbirarily pick, one lines involved in the tie as #1.

Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT! It is very useful.

To be honest I never received this error before but it sounds like that recovery creator disc doesn t work properly... You should try a HDD recovery to restore the factory settings. Maybe you are able to create the recovery disk.

as for now, I have two same machines toshiba Satellite L300-190 model.

I think that this has been discussed much time here in the forum.

You can create the recovery disk using the Toshiba recovery disc creator!
This tool must be preinstalled on your laptop if the laptop was equipped with HARD drive recovery option.

You can also try to restore the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.
You must press the F8 key during switching on laptop and I then have to choose the option called fix my computer. Then new window should open, and you could choose the Toshiba recovery.

If you cannot use the two procedures (disk recovery HARD and Toshibas recovery disk) then you can order the new CD from here:
