Re: Satellite Pro 2100: problem upgrade RAM from 512 MB to 1 GB

OK atm I have 512 MB in my netbook and I want to upgrade to 1 GB
now, I have already 512 MB in the nebook and I had another
but when I insert the other 512 MB
the only thing I get is a black screen

Hello

The laptop supports 1 GB RAM max.
This means that you can use 2 x 512 MB max modules. Module of 512 MB in each slot.

I guess 1 GB of RAM is not supported and therefore you cannot start the device correctly!

Go back to 2 x 512 MB

Would be a bios update help?

    Thank you

    Hello

According to this site about Satellite Pro 2100 memory, the laptop supports 512 MB max.
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=7444&ft=m&St=3

It is the maximum value that can be used in the notebook.
The BIOS will not help because it is a hardware limitation of motherboard!

  • Satellite Pro 2100 - upgrade - upgrade memory RAM

    Hello together!

    For your information:

Upgrade memory today to 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1.9 GH, 256 MB DDR - RAM initially), both up to 1 GB, all fine and no problems.

Wanted to just end rumors "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

If you are looking for, don't forget to think of the specifications:

    DDR-266 (PC2100)
    DDR-SDRAM, SO-DIMM
    200 PINS
    2.5 CL

concerning the frequency of the RAM, building shape etc.

    Greetings

    L0nestar

P.S.: Don't think that a debate is necessary, thread could be closed...

According to the specifications of the computer laptop Satellite Pro has two memory slots and can be upgraded up to 1 GB. It is very useful to have confirmation on the RAM upgrade for this model of laptop old but still good.

    Good day.

Try to start with a module in the second slot, first an empty slot.

  • A few questions regarding the hardware upgrade and the games on Satellite Pro 2100

    Hey,.

I thought that posting this here because it's more about the lines for the games I could think on another topic.

I'll get to the point... Basically, I bought a laptop from a guy that my friend knew. He barely used this laptop and didn't know anything about computers, and he tried to avoid as much as possible. So he got rid of this laptop for me for real cheap.

Now I got it, I had expected either of two things with the laptop.

    (1) what I'll use it so I can sit in his bed and travel a little bit while having files, movies, music and internet access. (it wasn't my main idea)

    Or

    (2) it allows to play video games on it, or to update, so I have a better chance to do so.

I was hoping to get for video games, mainly for my brother to use because his computer is lagging a lot while playing world of Warcraft. I was hoping that this notebook would give him a better experience for a while.

But as I was installing the game on this, I noticed that the disk space is low, so I'm going to buy an external hard drive, so I can send files between the PC and the laptop, and I got an error message saying that the RAM was under "minimum requirements" for WoW.

So I know that I got to level it with something big, but I know not what, so I'm not quite sure that this laptop will run the game at a decent rate. So I thought that I turn to a computer forum and ask.

    It's my laptop;
    [Satellite Pro 2100 PS210E | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 45659 ie]

This laptop will do the job don't you think?
Or it will be better for simpler things, or less if I had the ram to 1gig?

I don't know much on the laptop, and I'm not really willing to spend too much on fixing, if it's just a change of the ram, then it wouldn't cost much for than to upgrade around 1gig.

    Hello

First of all, I must say that this notebook belongs to an older series laptop.
It was equipped with the 1.8 Celeron CPU, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB or 30 GB HARD drive and a 16MB graphics card internal.

What you can do is upgrade the RAM up to 1 GB (2 x 512 MB) and the HARD drive. But I think that the maximum size of HARD drive that would be recognized by the BIOS is 120 GB.
I think that the laptop supports one IDE controller and it limited because of the 28-bit LBA HARD drive size.

So finally, it is important to mention that you can not pass the graphics card because it s soldered onto the motherboard. Upgrading the CPU is not possible or very difficult.

I come to the conclusion that you will not be able to play games of new generation on this machine. The hardware specs are maybe too low a few simple games would run on this laptop but I'm sure that other newer games will not run smoothly.

    Welcome them

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100; battery (probably) problem

About a year ago and a half year I bought the Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100. Every thing worked perfect up what a month ago, and then my adapter not workt more. With a multimeter I discovered it was broken, so I bought a new (from you guys)

But 2 weeks later a new was also broken. Then I used my father's map (it has the same specifications) which merged in 1 week.

What is going on? Where is the problem. I think it's my battery.

    Hello

It seems that your adapter is damaged by the oscillation of voltage.

I can't image the laptop that has the same voltage as the AC damaged HQ with a swing of voltage!

IF you wish, you can contact a Toshiba Service partner. They can check the power supply, I have the laptop and HQ.

    Bye Bob

    Hello

In our company, we use BartPE boot disk to get on the network of the company, from which we can then use Norton Ghost to the image of our PCs and laptops. It works really well. However, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 who refuses to read any bootable CD. Will TRY to read the disc, it simply cannot.

I can hear it try over and over again, but it just doesn't work. I tried to write by using different media and different CD burners, ranging down to write at a speed of 8 x, but nothing helped. Is there a problem known with the reading of the CD - Rs on this beach or model?

    Hello

To boot from the CD, you can press the C key immediately after starting the laptop.
In addition, it would be very interesting to know if it is also not possible to boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

Whenever I try to install I get only "driver not installed" at the end of the day, I tried loads of other drivers designed for ac - xg wdm. Without success, when I go to Device Manager I only see "unknown device" which is the sound card, I guess that...

  • Upgrade CPU on Satellite Pro 2100

    Hello world!

This time my question belongs to the CPU in my Satellite Pro 2100. Currently under construction in an Intel Pentium 4-M GH 1.9, my question is, wether I could built in a processor (more powerful sense) "superior". Have seen CPU type Intel Pentium 4 M up to above 3.0 GH. Of course, this is related to the FSB, and due to the fact that I don't know what kind of motherboard I have, I just want to know if anyone here knows the maximum.

I know there is Toshiba Satellite Pro Notebooks with 2.2 GH Intel Pentium 4 M processors inside.

    happy to all boards

    L0nestar

I remember well the Satellite Pro 2100 was equipped with 5 different Intel Pentium 4 - M s CPU
    1.7 GHz, 1.8 GHz, 1.9 GHz, 2.0 GHz, 2.2 GHz

So, theoretically, you can insert a 2.2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 - M CPU.

But please don't ask me if it is really possible because the CPU upgrade on laptops is different as an update on the desktop.
On some older portable computers, the CPU has been fixed for the mobo and it was not easy to remove it.

That's all I can say about this case.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 2100: TEAC CD drive problem - cannot access CDs

    Hey

I got my Satellite Pro 2100 for another few years.
So far it has worked well.
However, now the cd player is always displayed the yellow light just after trying to load a cd, followed a quiet thump. This means that I can not access the content of the cd (audio or data).

The drive is still recognized by Device Manager, and I'm told it works well - I know better however, it most certainly isn't! the drive will still appear in my computer, and I can always try and discover the contents of the cd inserted, which is always empty!

Ant help or advice would be most appreciated, because I really want to re-preparation of the system!

    Hi Simon

The satellite Pro 2100 is an oldie ;) and I guess that you pointed out the CD/DVD drive all the time long.
I would not be surprised if this player is dead. For me, it looks like the end of the device.

Until it must be said that I'm afraid you need to replace the CD/DVD drive with a new m.

    Best regards

  • Satellite Pro 4300 - memory upgrade problem

    Hello

I know that the issue has been already discussed several times, but it seems that none of the solutions or suggestions posted earlier apply to my situation.
I recently bought an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300. The laptop has a slot filled memory of 64 MB module of the system's total memory was 128 MB.
Because in my opinion, the system has worked to slow down, I decided to buy an additional memory module. I bought 128 MB - module TOSHIBA PA3005U k and placed in the slot B

I was very surprised when I found that, after the upgrade, Windows showed that the total memory is 192 MB.
When I put the 128 MB in the slot module is and the old module of 64 MB in the slot B - the surprise was even bigger, given that windows showed only 128 MB.

I first thought that the slot B is defective, but in this case, it would be impossible to get in the first place the 192 MB. Then I thought that the new module of memory was either defective or it was 64 MB instead of 128 MB, but this option is also likely, according to my observations. Furthermore, I checked with EVEREST software system and it recognizes the new module as 128 MB module, but does not see the old 64 MB module.

The situation is quite strange. Does anyone has an idea whay happens?

    Kind regards

    Sebastian

To my knowledge, the 4300 Satellite Pro can be upgraded to 320 MB max.
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5769&ft=m&St=3

64 MB module which was fitted with your laptop should not be removable.
So in this slot ONLY this 64 MB module could work properly.

I know it's strange but the computer world is sometimes strange ;) you know :D

  • Satellite Pro 2100: Question about upgrade HARD drive

    Hello
ICH have a Satellite Pro 2100 with a capacity of 40 GB HDD. Now I want wo upgrate with a 100 GB or 120 GB HARD drive. Is it supported? Where is the upper limit of the capacity of support? Is there something I need to look out? Are there special attributes that am I looking for?

prior to thank you for your support

    Hello

It is very unlikely that the 100 or 120 GB HARD drive works.
I guess that the BIOS will not recognize these hard disks.
I don't officials documents found on the hard drives supported, but I think that the 60 GB HARD drive is the biggest HARD drive that works on the Satellite Pro 2100.

  • Satellite Pro 2100: card network wireless not recognized after upgrade

I have a Satellite Pro 2100 ad I used successfully a PCIMCIA 802. 11b card wifi for two years.

Studying the manual, I discovered that the notebook is "wifi ready" (it has a wifi switch, a switch wifi of Alt - F8, and a section of the manual).

I opened a Bay and found out a mini-pci slot. That's why I bought an Intel 2200 BG wireless adapter and I put it inside, which connects the sons of two antennas, located in the Bay. Finally, I was ready to son mask 11 and 13, as suggested in many forums. But when I put the card inside, unknown electrically. It seems that the mini-pci slot must be Electric.toutes impossible. My Bios is not impossible, but it.

In another Bay close to the mini-pci card, I discovered an empty shell for a chip. Is this an impossible chip?

    Hello

As far as I know that this unit is about 4 years old and at that time the unit is tested with the wireless network card with the PA3212U-1MPC part number. This map has been tested, is also compatible and can be used.

I put t know what is going on exactly in your case, but new material should be recognized and the driver must be installed. I put t know what you mean exactly, but can you please explain exactly the situation?

The card is correctly recognized and installed in the Device Manager?
You can use FN + F8 key combination to activate the wireless card?
