Re: Satellite Pro A200-1NB - Fn keys do not work after installing XP

Dear all,

I bought the new laptop A200 1NB.
Yesterday I have downgrade from Vista to XP everything is fine.

But a problem arose, some of FN + F key do not work, F5, F6, F7, F8, etc. (FN + ESC, F1, F3 work there).
Can you tell me what is wrong with my pc and how can solve this problem?

In the meantime your ASAP solutions,
Thanks in advance...

You must update the BIOS to the version of XP, and you must install all available Toshiba XP drivers and utilities.
It's a secret all ;)

    Hello

On the Toshiba driver page, you will find the installation instructions how to install all the drivers of Toshiba.
It is very important that pilots will settle in the right order.

In addition, if you want to spend on the WLan, you have to activate the WLan switch on the side of the laptop and also to enable the antenna WLan with FN + F8.

  • Satellite Pro L300 some FN keys do not work on XP

I bought a L300-164 on Monday. However, there is no preinstalled opsys. I installed a Win XPSP2 (HUN) on it and downloaded the drivers from www.toshiba-europe.com.

First I have installed chipset and video drivers, then I installed "common Modules". After you finished and restart I tried to install 'orders', but who says "common modules" are not installed.

So I installed 'save energy' and tried to install it once more the 'controls '. Now, it has been installed normally. Finally, I put on "hotkey utility" and "touchpad utility power. So everything seems to be all right on the machine, but a few FN keys do not work: F6 and F7 doesn't control brightness, F2 is not change power mode and F9 switch touchpad power (of course in a hurry with the FN). However, volume knob works, ESC as the work of mute and Fx buttons also work elsewhere.

Y at - it ideas to make these buttons work?

Sat L300-164 seems to belong to the PSLBDE series, and you must download and use the drivers from the Toshiba European designed for the series Sat L300 PSLBDE page.

Is the common Modules is a key driver that is important for the functionality of the FN button.

I would recommend so reinstall the common modules again!

    Welcome them

    Hello

    I have Toshiba Satellite A135-s2326

I kill Vista and installed Xp on it, but the shortcut keys do not work now.

Someone knows how to fix this?

Do you mean the FN button functionality?

Well buddy, the question is clear like a Crystal, the buttons FN don t work after the Win XP because the necessary drivers have not been installed.

But first he must know that it is a series of models Toshiba us.
I checked the Toshiba page us and unfortunately, I didn't find any Win XP tools or drivers for this model of laptop.

It seems that you will have to use the laptop without the functionality of the FN button if you want to use Win XP. :(

    Hello

It seems that what he is an American unit and was designed specially for the American market.

But have you used the Toshiba Recovery CD?
If this isn't the case, then you must install all the drivers Toshiba and utilities in the correct order.
    Chipset utility
    common modules
    graphic driver
    etc.

The FN keys supports different function. To use these options, you will need several drivers. For example, use the FN + F5 (the display switching), to the Toshiba Hotkey Utility to display the devices & Toshiba display device change Utility and toggle the Touchpad to install Toshiba Touchpad enable/disable utility

As you can see it good drivers are needed. Please visit the Toshiba us and download the right driver for this laptop

  • NB305-105 - FN keys do not work after installing Windows 7

    Hello

I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit ultimate in netbook Toshiba NB305-105, I have install all drivers, but I can't solve the problem with the WIFI. In particular I don't found drivers for the special key FN to switch on the WIRELESS card.
I tried different retraction, but nothing. All the drivers are installed but the FN key does not work and even for the WiFi card.

Please help me or I come to Windows 7 32 bit?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

You can keep Windows 7 64 bit installed, but I put t understand why you need 64-bit OS on a netbook that doesn't support 4 GB of RAM

In any case, the FN keys to install the package of added value and utility to Support Flash Cards. These two tools controls the FN keys. They are not listed for your netbook and Windows 7 64-bit, you can download them from another model as Satellite L500.

I'm pretty sure, they have too much work for your model. :)

    > I asked this question on the Microsoft forums and I've learned to run the troubleshooter of material (did not help) and if defective, to search for the latest drivers for keyboard - I seem to have the most recent for my model, as from Toshiba Web site does not list the keyboard updates.

It seems that this opinion is not from Microsoft staff, but some users of the forum.
You should know that the drivers of keyboard (developed by Microsoft) are still part of the Windows System. Any Windows OS you use, the keyboard driver would be always installed as part of the OS. This means that the drivers of special keyboard DON T exist but system uses own driver...

You can check the functionality of the keyboard in USB external keyboard.
If external keyboard works properly, the internal keyboard is malfunctioning and must be replaced.

If the external keyboard does not work properly too, then I recommend you to recover the laptop using Toshiba HDD recovery. Otherwise, there could be question of motherboard (keyboard controller).

    Help? Thank you very much.

    Hello

The fact is that the Toshiba power saver controls the hibernation mode, and the day before.
Here, you can configure this option.
AFAIK closing cover option you can set only on the eve of setting power off or no action. You cannot set to Hibernate.
In the energy saver, you will need to use the Details button. In the system power mode, you can configure this action.

It may have something to do with the upgrade of the Microsoft Vista?

    Hello

Have you tried plugging a headset to the headset jack to see if it would work?

This external sound card is not only known to me and I ve no experience with this device, but using the helmet you could check if this problem is related to the headphone jack or another part.

On the other hand if you use Win XP then you can check the settings in device-> Realtek HD audio Manager manager.
There is a tab called Audio i/o.

Plug in headphones and see if they would be activated it.
