Re: Satellite Pro P100 of hard drive problem.

Hello

Uh, to sum up my problem, a vital file... or two, has been deleted by a rather malicious Trojan horse, I had a week or two it y a. I had cleaned it the command registry and such and everything was fine. Until I tried a disc to my hard drive... The unit seems to recognize that there is a disc in there and I checked because nothing "seems to" be physically wrong with it. He won't read it. So my question, is there a link to download or something or another or not, that could lead me to a place where I could safely re - download the drive of files for the Pro P100.

And yah... I have no experience of the computer, or similar, so I just ask a pretty silly question. xD

Hello

If the problem is Windows related, you should be able start from the CD or DVD without any problem. So I recommend this audit with the recovery disk or other bootable disk.

If you can't start t with him, the drive is may be defective or the lens needs to be cleaned with a Microfiber cloth.

Good luck!

  • On the Satellite Pro A 60 hard drive problems

    Hello.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 with a hard disk of 40 gigabites origin. When I tried to change the old disk with a disk travels Digital Scorpio blue hard 80 gigabites, the does'nt of the bios recognizes it. Is there a solution?

    Hallo Haziz

If you swap the HARD drive IDE HDD compatible and of course not defective it must be recognized correctly.
Please do not expect solution to this if you didn't inform us a HARD drive replacement.

Is - this brand new HARD drive?
You can then Exchange disk HARD BIOS to the default settings and check again the value.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - screen and sound problems after upgrade to Windows 7

    Hi all

I got my Satellite Pro P100 (model number is PSPAEE-00C006EN and the second digit of the serial number is '7') upgraded from Vista to Windows 7, and since then, some bugs seem to have had place - can someone help me on the following:

-L' screen DIMS increments, irrespective of the fact that I have saved my power settings to stay on FULL (battery or sector)

-No sound. Once or twice, the sound card worked and settings to say this works correctly (and you can see the movement of the graphic equalizer).
In terms of PC knowledge, I would be 5/10 (so not a dummy, but certainly not a pro! and we tried a lot of the more obvious things)

    Thank you all

    Hello

1.) if the screen dim option doesn't properly work, I recommend you to reinstall Toshiba Value added Package. This package controls these functions, the keys FN and others. Visit the Toshiba page for an update!

2.) did you check if the sound is muted if the equalizer work? In addition you can also try to update the audio driver might it work ;)

  • Alternative to the reset by Satellite A660 for potential HARD drive problem

In the last week or two, I got a few blue screens, saying he was driving demand, and that windows must be shut down to avoid damage my computer.

I have just restart and continue working.
The last time it happened, I had repeatedly "initialization failed" and it says hdd, SDS, fdd. If I pressed the power button until I didn't see no signs of activity, then started. Things went well. I called Toshiba support and they recommended that I go home and save my files before continuing. It took hours selectively to clean, sort the previous backups, and a small footprint of the backup system.

When I called Toshiba once again, they recommended a "takeover", which is restoring the factory settings. It puts me in the stone age. I have to go through a never-ending process of the upgrade to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, install and reconfigure all the applications and environments/configurations, etc. It will essentially take on holiday, if not more. I'll also have to get another computer (maybe a netbook) to stay in touch while I restart my laptop. It's barely more than a year.

Is there a diagnosis I can do to determine the probability that there is a hard drive problem? Support for Toshiba said that is the surest way, because it provides a diagnostic F10 for the hard disk code, and it also pushes the bad sectors at the end of the disc (logically, I suppose, since you can't physically move a fault).

    > About Hitachi DFT, is it important that my HARD drive is Toshiba mk6465gsx? This is what is displayed "Hard drives" in the Device Manager.

It s no matter what HARD drive manufacturer, it is the Drive Fitness Test is able to scan all hard drives to find errors.

    > Also, http://www.hitachigst.com/support/downloads/#DFTshows links to create boot disks, but I was wondering if I could create a bootable instead.

Not sure if this is possible if there is that one option to create a startup disk, and then a flash stick does not work. But of course you can try this out.

    > This laptop does not come with a floppy drive, and I still create coasters trying to burn discs.
You don't need the floppy drive, the tool must create a disk bootable (CD)

    > I guess that the same question can be asked on Memtest86. Another issue is the relevance of Memtest86 for my system. My c drive has a "Program Files" folder, but also a "Program Files (x 86)" folder for 32-bit applications. Memtest86 is for the x 86 architecture. I don't know if my 64-bit Windows 7 involves a non - x 86 architecture.

I guess that Memtest86 should also work on Win 7 64 bit systems. But also the MemTest 4.20 is 64-bit capable

  • Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

    Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

  • Satellite Pro A120-128 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello

Any suggestions on make & model disk HARD upgrade to?

    THX!

Normally it should not be a problem to use a HARD drive this lager s like 137 GB because as much as I know there is no limit of capacity on SATA interface.
But as said Akuma, test it before buying this drive.

However, an IDE HDD does not fit in this notebook

    Hello

I read this story carefully and to be honest I m not sure if a second HDD (instead of the STRANGE) can be used

My knowledge the IDE second controller does support all the ODD (CD/dvd drive) due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.
I think it's the same case, why the second HDD is not recognized correctly

  • Satellite Pro L100 - which hard drive is maximum for this model.

Dear users, I have a problem with choosing appropriate new HARD drive for this model. I have no idea of this title is to the maximum with what my BIOS will manage. This model, I bought on the year 2006.
I would be grateful for any help.

    Hello

AFAIK this Satellite Pro L100 has been equipped with a SATA HDD controller.
All hard drives 2.5 SATA should therefore be compatible controllers SATA HDD with no limitation.

Beginning taken IDE controllers support only 28-bit LBA and allows only to hard disks up to 128 GB.
Given that the ATA - 6 the 48-bit LBA is supported which allows the use of larger hard drives?

  • Satellite Pro L300 29V - hard drive is dead

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-29V only about 2 months, and suddenly the hard drive (very full) is apparently dead.

Initially the laptop starts Windows correctly, but now the HD is not yet recognized in the BIOS. If it goes beyond the Toshiba splash screen, I get the thing PXE saying "a cable is unplugged. I tried to re-allocation of places the reader twice, but still nothing.

It's really disturbing, because I had transferred recently practically my whole LIFE on it on other computers which many many many hours of musical recordings that I can't really afford to lose.

I think I'll have to buy a HD dock and see if I can read and copy the data.

Does anyone else have this problem? It is likely that the drive could have been erased?

I should also mention that a day or two before this happened, my girlfriend was using etc. Open Mobile (Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word,) - computer I pressed the power button that normally makes hibernate - and when I turned it back, rather than resume where he left off, the computer started from zero and no work/windows were saved.

I'm afraid that might be some stupid day, Avira, or on the Windows updates without end that has damaged something...

EDIT: OK, I have a picture of the error I received before complete failure, but I can't download it here. Here is the text (on a blue screen):

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is installed correctly.
If it is a new installation, ask your hardware manufacturer or software, the windows updates, you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading. Hi mate,

First of all, I must say that I have this Satellite L300 too. But I didn t have no problem, the HARD drive works fine for 1.5 years and I use this laptop for Internet and emails everyday. I m very satisfied.

However, what do you hear now?

I hope that you can copy your data to another device and you will need a new HARD drive for your Satellite Pro L300. That's fact!
In addition, there are a few good programs that they can the recovery of data from faulty hard drives. Just search with Google, you will find some interesting links.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro M30: new HARD drive - what is the max capacity?

    Hello

My Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 is 4 years old with a 60 GB hard drive (IDE).
I would like to replace the hard drive with a bigger. What is the best? (BIOS version 1.70, Windows XP Pro SP 3).

I would be happy not only to get the answer to my question but alos to where I might find the answer myself.

    Thanks and greetings

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop is equipped with an ATA-100 IDE / ATA-6 HARD drive controller.
In this case, you will need to use the 2.5 IDE HARD drive.

I know with certainty that this notebook would support 80 GB HDD, but generally a larger HARD drive should also be possible because the controller is able to manage the 48-bit LBA.
The 48-bit LBA can handle hard drives of more than 120GB.

In my opinion, you can try a 120 GB and also 160 GB HARD drive should be possible.

  • Satellite P200 mainboard and HARD drive problem

    Hiya,

I had my Satallite Pro for only 3 years.
During the past year I had problems with the HARD drive and at one point broke and I had it replaced, it worked for about 2 months and who broke. I got another HARD drive, and now it has broken.

I took it to a repair shop independent who say it could be a problem with the motherboard or the Starter connections, or perhaps love to him. ???

I rang toshiba and I didn't have only a years warranty, so my main questions are:

    (1) how much approximately will it take to get fixed

    (2) is it useful

    (3) is it successful.

I'm not sure to get if fixed at 100% I know I can't afford a new to the same specification as that time.

Any help or advice will be approciated.

    Hi mate

To be honest, a motherboard is a laptop computer cheap party.
If it of really a motherboard problem and if you have to replace the motherboard to solve this problem, then you must know that this could really be a costly affair

I'm not quite sure how a new motherboard might be, but I think that you will have spent about 300-350 Euros
That s a lot of money so it s your own decision of what's best for you. buy a new laptop or pay for a fix.

If I was you I'll sell this laptop and would like to buy a new unit.

  • Satellite Pro U400-130 - hard drive Partition - help

    Hi all

    I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-130 mobile - cell PSU45E-005005EN

Processor Intel Core 2 Duo (T8400) 2.26 GHz, the front side Bus speed: 1066 MHz, level 2: 3 MB Cache
    3072 MB (1024 + 2048 MB) DDR2 RAM
    250 GB hard drive
    Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition

What I've found, is that the hard drive is partitioned into two separate drives

    1. the drive C - 117 GB - hand player - all programs, user accounts and files of work / are saved on the C drive.
2 drive E - 113 GB - A folder titled HDDRecovery (size 4.42 GB) nothing elese is on the E drive.
    3. This only totals to 230 GB, then where is the other 20 GB?

I want to know/how is is:

    1. Why are we doing this way?
    2. What is the purpose of the file recovery Drive E and it does not require the space of 113 GB?

    3. If I increase the size of drive C to say 55GO and decrease the size of drive E?
    3.1 is it possible?
    3.2 what impact will?

    4. the drives C and E only total 230 GB so where is the other 20 GB?

    Can someone please help

    Thank you very much

    Vash01

    (1) the HARD disk is partitioned into 3 partitions and not 2! Go to the disk management utility and you will see that there is a hidden partition. This hidden partition is created by Vista. It contains the necessary backup files that are needed for the repair of the system, if something goes wrong with your operating system.

    (2) the second partition contains the record of recovery of HARD drive that allows you to retrieve the laptop without using recovery discs. But of course, you are able to create a recovery disk and it s highly recommended to create a recovery disk using the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

3.1 I think that this could be possible, but before that you'd change any partition size I recommend the creation of the recovery disk because there is a high risk that after changing the size of partitions you drive HARD recovery option does not work.

    3.2) see point 3.1

4.) I think the other hidden partition using this 20 GB. Also please note that 250GB are not really 250 GB 1 GB is not 1000MB but 1024MB.
This means that the 250 GB HARD drive is not 250 000 MB but 238 418 MB
