Re: Tecra A9 cannot update to the latest version of the BIOS on Windows 7

I am trying to upgrade the current bios (v1.60) to the later (v2.10), I downloaded P0054v210.exe but when I try to launch it I get the error ' BIOS update is not supported in the OS... "I tried compatibility mode XP but still no luck." I don't want to have to reinstall XP if possible.

I've read elsewhere that install the value Pack might work, but it was already installed. I've now uninstalled the VAP and installed again with no error reported. Still unable to run P0054V210.exe.

However, when I try to run the installation of HW in the folder utilities Toshiba in the start menu, I get "HCI load error!" followed by "SCI load error!" but it puts then a box of dialoge Setup with the 'General tab ' with details of the current version of the Bios. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice and still get the same problem.

Is this a hardware problem?

Hey Buddy,

Why you try to update the BIOS?

Something is not right with your laptop?

    Hi again,

I have a question how update of the BIOS under Windows 7 ultimate x 64. I downloaded the latest version of the BIOS for my laptop (Toshiba Tecra A8-185 PTA83E). After having unpacked there is only the .exe file.

When I try to run this file, he said, that my OS is not supported. When I run it in compatibility mode (with Vista or XP), it starts the upgrade, but gives me an error: "the BIOS upgrade is failure (8). BIOS is not able on this configuration. "What should I do? I really need a new BIOS.

Can I run it at the start of the USB key, or whatever?

    Hi offi55

Why do you need a new BIOS? You may notice some problems with the laptop or why are you trying to update?

However, I think that the update should only be done on the pre-installed Windows version (XP or Vista). I guess that this update n t tested and designed to update Windows 7 so I think that would be the reason why you can t.

So to install Windows from the Toshiba Recovery disk and try to update again. It should work.

  • Satellite A200-1DN - the update of the BIOS for Windows 7

I am running 32-bit Windows 7 on a Satellite A200 1DN. I had battery problems (plugged in, does not support) and I understand that I have to update my BIOS. However I can't find an update of the BIOS for Windows 7, only Vista and XP.

Can anyone help? I should update with the BIOS in Vista? Are there other options to fix this battery? I already tried an ATX reset and uninstall method battery Microsoft ACPI compatible controls.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you
    Ian

Theoretically, you can install Windows Vista to update Bios and return Win 7, then. Before you do, try this:

Unplug the computer from the power adapter and turn it on. Let the computer battery power until the computer turns off
Remove the battery. Using a soft cloth, wipe the battery packs connectors and AC adapters.
Reinsert the battery and plug it into the power adapter

also, have you had the same problem before installing Win 7?

  • Satellite A110-180 - update of the Bios for Windows 7 and Linux

    Hello

I want to change the following settings in my bios on my laptop satellite A110-180
    * AHCI for SATA
    Disable the IDE

    But none of these options.
So I thought that maybe I should update my bios.
I found the download page, but there are 2 options: Windows Vista or NO vista, but I want to dual boot windows 7 and linux.

Which one should I download, or is there another option to change the settings?

    Thank you!
    Bart

    Hello

Satellite A110 does not support these options (SATA AHCI).
The update of the BIOS will not help you!

Linux is not supported and therefore, you will not find any special BIOS for Linux OS!

The two BIOS updates are for Win Vista or OS independent.
Therefore, if you use other than Vista OS then you should throw the update of the independent BIOS to the BONE!

But as mentioned above; both options will not appear after the BIOS update!

  • Update of the BIOS under Windows 7 and XP

but my big question is after I installed win7 on D: and XP on C: when I try to install/update the BIOS for windows 7 then what happened to XP?

    thnx.

    Hello

Sounds like you don t know this BIOS, it's exactly the BIOS has nothing to do with the software or the operating system that you are installing. EC * B * asic * I * nput * O * utput * S * system is stored on a ROM module on the motherboard and manage the different hardware components, system startup, etc..

If the BIOS update is needed on a BONE. ;)

  • Satellite M60 is beginning not after the update of the BIOS through windows

    Hi all

I was updating my bios on my M60 with the latest version of the bios and I was following the windows flashing procedure (the recommended) and it blue screened and dumped. Now, the laptop does not start, wont even post. Just a big dead brick :(

I am pretty competent with material (I'm a software engineer), but I don't know how to reflash a laptop when this kind of thing happens. Is there a trigger bios reset on board? Can I do it myself? If I take this back to my dealer how likely they can reflash the bios in the House do? (Its a pretty major dealer of the Toronto area)

What is a work system that I need the solution that has the smallest impact of time - cost isn't too important an issue.

    Any help would be great,

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Kristan

According to the description of your problem, I guess that the BIOS chip is damaged and unfortunately you can not do much alone. Please contact the Toshiba service and explain the situation. They will explain everything you need to know and you can talk with them about costs and the time they need for the repair of laptops.

    Good bye

  • Tecra M10 - update of the BIOS says "this computer is not supported.

Recently refurbished a M10 - 10I to reinstall the operating system. WinXP install at all so I try to update the BIOS as it seems quite old (V1.5). Most recent version (and is available) for this machine seems to be V3.0. Download and try to run the file "P0065V300" and get the message:

Package for the TOSHIBA BIOS ver.3.3.0
    This computer is not supported

What can I do? Its supposed to be for this model!

Also, prefer a version of boot drive, but hey, I can use a version of Windows, assuming that it runs on Win7.

    Hello

Tecra M10 - 10I belongs to the series of PTMB1E and according to the page of the Toshiba UE driver, BIOS v3.00 - WIN is the latest BIOS version which is available for this model.

The BIOS update requires a few additional tools Toshiba as VAP (additional package for Win 7)

If this driver isn't installed, the update of the BIOS would not work.

  • Updated Firefox updated to its latest version 12.0. Now my plugin Adobe Flash freezes and blocks all websites when it is turned on even if it's the latest version.

Today updated Firefox updated to its latest version 12.0. Immediately after the update, I couldn't load most of the sites. The web browser would just freeze. I have determined that the culprit is the Adobe Flash Plugin, however; even with the latest version of the plugin, I always have problems. Any suggestions?

If anyone else has this problem I found a few options that may help you.

I solved my problem by loading Waterfox, which is the 64-bit version of Firefox. I use a Windows 64-bit operating system, so this solution worked perfectly. If you want to download it, it can be downloaded here: http://waterfoxproject.org/

It has also been suggested that I try to create a new Firefox profile. Since Waterfox works for me, I have not tried yet; However, I was told that it allows to solve several mysterious questions of Firefox with Flash. The directions for this can be found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Basic%20Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile

I hope everyone can solve their problems of Flash Player and I recommend using the Adobe Forums as well. People there are very helpful.

  • Tecra 8000 - installation of update of the BIOS & XP or ME?

I got the task of sorting of a s laptop Tecra 8000 a friend who is completely riddled with spyware and viruses. After killing most of the infections I backed up what I have to and decided the best course of action is a reconstruction of the BONE.

I don't know what operating system to suggest that it installs. Will install and make ME use Win98 drivers or if this is not recommended (I have no experience with ME)?
XP would be a better choice with its own pilots (reading the posts on here that SP2 causes slowdowns well)?
Either the OS above with a Bios Update will be necessary? If so the update of the Bios from 9, 30-trad does not require a 500 MHz + processor? The Bios will tell me the CPU speed?
I found information on how to install the updates to the Bios; I just check that I can install the 9.30 - trad on a Tecra 8000 with a processor more low spec?

    Thank you very much
    JBW

I installed the trad 9.30 on my tecra 8000 233 mhz without problem. European downloads have the 500 mhz different bios updates voor and lower. The trad version is for lower versions.
The American downloadsite have only 1 bios, the 9: 30 for all machines.
It confused me, so I took the trad 9.30 which is safe for all machines under 500 mhz.

Good luck... not to mention that I installed winxp pro on it and it runs smooth, I only dissabeld a large number of services that run in the background that wheren can't used to free the memory.

  • supported DV6 maps wifi - update of the BIOS whitelist?

Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only person here who was COMPLETELY dismayed to discover that HP has used a restriction of peripheral BIOS level control in recent laptop, which is a 'white list' models, to support that a limited set of installed models of devices.  Yes, HP has felt the need not only to prevent owners from installing ANY WiFi card of their choice, but to leave the list CLOSELY LIMIT.

I can understand that HP forged relationships with only some WiFi card suppliers like Atheros, Realtek, Ralink, Intel and Broadcom and that for an AMD chipset, there would be prevention of the use of the WiFi Intel cards because... God forbid that the AMD hardware and Intel work together.

But what really gets me crazy it's marks 'allowed' to work on a given computer, the restriction is focused to allow some WiFi cards.  But what about PROGRESS?  Several years later, there are WiFi new cards on the market that offer greater speed.  Even computer owners HP laptop cannot use them because of this application from the "white list"!

WHEN... when is HP going to issue updates the BIOS to at least receive some of the more recent models WiFi card so that users are not left "stuck in 2nd gear?  For my dv6-6145dx, the last BIOS update was late 2011 (F21).  NOTHING SINCE.  I would like to know what HP will provide an update of the BIOS to allow for more cards WiFi in my laptop.

In fact, I would like to introduce THIS plea for HP:

[quote] Expensive laptop computer Hewlett-Packard management team,

I understand your need to promote the business relationships with certain suppliers of material and decided to establish a protocol of 'white list', which prevents a laptop operating during an attempt be used with an "unsupported device"... not because it cannot physically be used, but because there is a BUSINESS DECISION to prevent use.  This isn't a big problem for new laptops, because a card WiFi is most probably one of the most recent technologies and will be sufficient for the owner.

HOWEVER, over time the technology is changing.  I humbly request you need to put a time limit integrated on the use of the white list, or provide a BIOS update about 2 years after that a laptop model was released so that the owner can take advantage of technology device IMPROVED in their computers HP laptop brand.

If HP does not feel it is prudent and esteem that limit the use of the device could entice a customer to buy a NEW laptop to take advantage of the latest technology, then think again.  If I don't see HP no make no effort to resolve this problem, you can bet that my next laptop will be from a vendor who is not called "Hewlett-Packard".

Thank you for your time and your help in this matter. [/ quote]

    Hello:

You are right that there are probably many, many, people who share your opinion and your post is the first I've read who is shown in an attitude of respectful and rational, breakdown your frustration.

I generally ignore the ranting and raving messages on it, because nothing I write will count for them.

Perhaps what I write won't matter to you either, but I'm willing to take a chance.

There could be other problems such as regulatory (for example...) SAR - specific absorption rate) that HP has test and validate cards wireless and antenna as a unit systems to meet this criterion, which pourrait (is not) to know why they limit the use of several wireless cards.

    http://www.metlabs.com/services/wireless-and-RF-testing/SAR-testing.aspx

While the other laptop MTRS also must follow the same guidelines and do not have to be used in their notebooks wireless cards (I stuck all kinds of WLAN cards in Dells for example), maybe it's how HP addresses the issue.  And we, consumers may be unknowingly breaking the law by installing any old wireless card in our cell phones, if we have not tested SAR that we installed.

However, since it is a forum of consumer to consumer, you're "preaching to the converted."

You can copy and paste your message for the CEO of HP, if at least it is read by an employee of the company, on the link below.
