Re: Tecra S1: no start

Hello
my laptop does not any sign of being accused bought 2 new Chargers and still no light nothing no boot. As I tried new Chargers is it possible that the problem is the battery and not the magazine? is there something else, I can try its driving me crazy! Please help if you can.
Thank you
Duncan

You can try to remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter / CC and leave your laptop for about 30 minutes. Then put it all together and start your machine.

If this isn't the trick, you take your laptop for ASP, to make sure that it is something wrong with your mains or battery adapters.

  • Tecra W50 - cannot start when installing the second hard drive (caddy).

    Hi all
    I have a Tecra W50 PT640A 04103NN1.
When a second hard drive is installed in the Bay of DVD player cell phone will try to boot from the drive bay, not the internal drive
This second drive has no operating system installed and so the fails to start.

If I hit F12 at startup and select HARD drive, while the machine starts correctly. That is starts on the main hard drive.
Change the order of boot in the BIOS makes all the difference; He will always try to boot from the second drive bay drive first.

All known A it works correctly?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Doppelfrog,
I had the same problem with my W50, got my HDD caddy a few days ago.
You have a bit of luck to fix this problem?
I believe that the Bios for this laptop is not developed to serve both drives (like the computer I had that one drive Bay) and it is not possible to prioritize the witch THAT HDD should start first...

    Kind regards

  • Tecra A2 and starting problems

I m using a Tecra A2 now for 5 years. The last few months a problem when starting accurse.

Normally all the icons for the programs that I need as the printer, graphics for 2 mobile screens control, program backup, its, etc. are in the status line at the bottom of the screen to the left. This is useful to quickly obtain information and access programs. But from time to time, this status line is therefore more complete. Even the arrow to display hidden icons disappeared.

Just recently, I discovered a rather unorthodox solution.
When I put a blank DVD in the drive, open the file manager, try double click to open the drive, the message: Please check the CD in drive d: / is considered.

When I try to close on the X window close program (because the DVD is not responding) accurse, one I click to close immediately.
That hangs in the display, after a certain time the missing icons are all included.

Does anyone has a similar problem and could solve it? Toshiba hotline gave me the advice to format the hard drive and restore the system. This should be the last option.

    Hi Torsten

It's really hard to say why all this is happening...

Maybe you should clean the Windows registry using CCleaner. It s worth a try! ;)

On the issue of DVD player, maybe you have to clean the lens using microfibre cloth and be careful if you clean.

Last but not least, I can only agree with Toshiba customer service. You must reinstall Windows using Toshiba recovery disc. It only takes a few minutes and then you have a clean OS with all the drivers again. :)

  • Tecra A11 - cannot start the BIOS update

    Hello

I downloaded the latest update of the Bios B2.50 - EC1.80 for Tecra A11-127 (PTSE0E. Wenn I start installing, an error occurs: "this computer is not supported", but my laptop is an A11-127 with Partnumber PTSE0E, why it doesn't work?

Why is he not possibel to download an old Version of the Bios?

    JSpindler

    Hi jspindler,

The question is why you want to update the BIOS? This update should be carried out only if it of really necessary. In addition, only the most recent update of the BIOS can be downloaded as it fixes most problems.

In any case, you need to start the BIOS as an administrator and you should decompress all files from zip archive before start you. Also, make sure that the value added package is installed.

By the way: what operating system is installed?

  • Tecra S2: battery start to empty itself

A week ago, I got my Tecra S2 by the service. They replaced my graphics card and my laptop worked perfect again, for a few days.

Then all of a sudden the battery started to empty with the AC adapter is plugged in. When it reaches zero, the laptop runs for a few minutes then crashes. After a few hours the charges of the battery and everything returns to normal. This happens a few times now and is completely random.

I checked if it was the heat, new bios updates, drivers, connection adapter, but nothing seems to help.

    just an off topic question:

When you say that service to replace your graphics card, you mean they changed all the motherboard because I guess the graphics card is part of the correction of it.

regarding your problem, it may be a faulty batery.

  • Tecra S1: Screen starts flashing and is now black

Hello. I have a Toshiba Tecra S1. Its 4 years.

Last night my screen suddenly started flashing and my computer froze. I had to reboot my computer and then the screen starts sometimes, but mostly it stays black. If splash screens, I have only gently shake the computer until the screen flashes again and the computer crashes.

Otherwise, it seems that the computer works as it should do.

Could you please tell my computer can be repaired or should I think about buying a new computer.

    Best regards

    Hello

In my opinion there would be something wrong with the motherboard.
Perhaps dysfunction of VGA chip maybe some covers may come into contact with the VGA chip and cause of could short-circuit.
This could be an explanation why the screen flashes and the computer hangs after a shaking gently.

But buddy note; Here are just a few suggestions and you should contact the ASP if you want to know what's wrong s and what causes this problem.

  • Tecra S3: no start with battery attached

    Hello

My * Tecra S3 wouldn't boot * (XP Pro SP3) * with attached battery pack * (battery is not charged).
When the battery is detached it starts properly-, but works only with AC, of course.
The error is reproducible with different batteries (original, new)?

How can I exclude a unity electronics/loading of the motherboard error?
    Other ideas have really enjoyed.

    Hello

This means that you can only start without battery also when the AC/DC adapter is plugged?

If Yes, it has something to do with the motherboard, I think. I mean if the same thing happens with other batteries too it could be linked to the motherboard for example.

In any case, I think that the motherboard must be exchanged or contact you a service provider authorized professional assistance. They can help you and check your laptop. :)

  • Tecra S2: Problem start & stand-by - black screen - no POST

    Description of the situation
Anytime battery & ac adapter, only battery or only the AC power is connected, sometimes the following happens:

-Portable-> boot (black) screen. No post no hd activity. No beeps or other strange noises as well.
-What laptop is 'wake-up' of stand-by, same thing happens: blank screen, no other reaction

Things that must be done to solve the problem:
    -remove the battery
    -remove power supply
-Sometimes these actions must be performed repeatedly to get laptop working again

There is no other question of stability, as the BSOD (blue screen), hang-ups or software problems (viruses, spyware, malware,...). When the laptop is running, no other problems occur.

Typical when situations of the problems occurs
-Laptop is closed down during an evening, power adapter (and battery) constantly connected. The next day, system does not at all. Battery and power supply must be removed to leave work again.
-Laptop computer sits on standb - by (on the desktop for example). AC adapter / CC is connected as well. A few minutes to hours later, when I try to wake up the system, it hangs on the white screen as well.
-Sometimes the touchpad does not work. When I reboot laptop when this happens, it is almost certain laptop hangs on the same black screen at 100% (as mentioned in the first point above, except that it is a restart and not start cold).

    Thanks for help

  • Tecra 8100 not start after replacing hinge!

A few days ago and hinges on my Tecra 8100 receive broken - I had to take full-fledged laptop and replace the hinges. When I finished replacement and try to start, I have nothing on the screen. LED light diodes are to: power, battery, CD ROM (there are no leads to the HARD drive).
I must put emphasis that I had the problem with the locations of memory (from last year) and I solved this problem by sticking a piece of paper between the contacts (like everyone else).

    Hello

Who knows what you were doing. It seems at first glance that you plugged the screen isn't properly.
But it could also be something wrong with the memory banks.

It s not advisable to put anything between the memory and the housing contacts!
If you use the compatible memory modules, everything should work properly!

If you are not able to locate the failure I recommend to contact a technician who has more experience in the repair of laptop as a common user like you and me

  • Tecra 8000: Cannot start - Message "Insert disc in the drive system" lights

I have a Tecra 8000, I've not used for about two months. Now when I try to start the "Disk system to insert in the drive" message on the display. I tried three disks in the system, but they have not been accepted and the same message appears. I visited in the 'setup' and changed priorities and tried to floppy, CD-ROM, HARD disk drive, and the same message every time. Is it possible that the internal battery "backup" is completely flat?

    Hello

Well, I'm not sure about your suggestion of the bios battery. Usually, you will see an error massage low battery BIOS or CMOS battery low.
Well, but if the battery is low, so all settings are disabled and the BIOS can't save the changes.
It's not easy to say what the problem is. If there is something wrong with the material if you ask ASP for help.

  • Tecra M2 - no start

    Hello world

I just got a * Toshiba Tecra M2 * who suffers from some strange symptoms.

I've first turning on laptop, I got a message saying that the RTC was not working properly. The machine is in storage for 18 months so thought it was enough to be charged overnight, which I did not.

In any case, I went through the process of ESC key combination and it started to load Windows XP - it is crushed then restarted itself. Yet once the RTC message appeared, this time, I started the computer in safe mode. It has worked well. After about 20 minutes, she suffers a BSOD. It was really fast and I don't have a chance to get the error code.

    I tried restarting and nothing.

The battery light was orange, as he was in charge, and the light of the power supply sector was carried out normally.

No rotation of the DVD player, no flurry of CPU fan - quite dead.

The machine had worked very well and the owner just need to a new installation of XP Pro top.

Any ideas on what is the cause?

The DVD, RAM, LCD, Touchpad, disk, CPU, FAN etc have all been removed and the problem still persists

It could just be the needs of RTC load all night? : |

I appreciate any assistance you can give. Any questions just ask.

    Thank you

    Hello

As you know it is not easy to provide a diagnosis exactly the fault without putting hands on the laptop.
    But if you ask for advice; Here is my personal opinion;

I think that it s a malfunction of the motherboard. Fact is that the laptop should also start if the RTC battery would be empty. In this case, the date and time value would be reset, but should start Notepad.

Your computer appears to be dead so my suggestion might be good, but you should definitely ask ASP for verification to ensure that's exactly wrong.

    Good luck

  • Tecra 8100 only start in safe mode

I seem to have lost the display drivers for my Tecra 8100.

As I tried to use an additional screen that worked well until I came to initialize the next day when it would only boot mode safe.
What I did wrong and how I can fix?

Detective driver does not work, everything happens as having performed an illegal operation.

    Hello!

Have you checked the Web from Toshiba site?
I doubt that this is because there you can download all the drivers.

    Check this box:

  • Tecra 8100 not start

    Hello

correction of a problem, it seems that the second...

After that I fixed my problems of inverter, the laptop worked well for more than a week. Last night I tried to turn on the machine and... nothing happened. The display is dark, the spins of HD, the (empty) CDROM gives three little noises, then silence. No JOB.

If I power button once again for a little while, the portable thirty times (1 long and 29 short beeps) beeps. Then it turns off.

If I'm held during the March, the screen displays a page of funny characters such as hearts and clubs and Spades, smilie faces and so on. I'm afraid, theres something wrong with my bios. Is there the chance to reset the FlashPROM? Perhaps by disconnecting the CMOS battery? But how do you here? Questions about questions. Someone at - it a good idea? The shaded for a visit a page ASP would be a death sentence for the machine :-(.

    Help, please!

    Thanks in advance.

    Kai

    Hello Kai

As far as I know sound comes if there is serious hardware problem. On this path, it is not easy to give an accurate diagnosis. Remove the CMOS battery will not help at all. Personally, I think that there is serious hardware problem.

You see the Toshiba start screen or these symbols appear immediately after pressing the Start button / stop?

  • Tecra M9 - slow start (1-3 minutes)

    Hello

My Tecra M9 startup is very slow: between 1-3 minutes. Is this normal?
Can I do to reduce this time (which can remove in msconfig/startup...)?

    Thank you.
    Nicolas

    > For the items in msconfig - startup, I kinda scared to delete something I shouldn't.
In MSCONFIG you simply deactivate some processes background, but you would not remove it! So if you need some process, even once, then you could afford it in msconfig.

    See you soon

  • Tecra R850-117 starts 5 minutes after calving

My Tecra R850-117 off, it restarts automatically after 5 minutes exactly.

This is an unwanted behavior because it drains the battery while I don't use the laptop and it could also damage the bearing drive around during the race...

Anyone know what could cause this problem and how can I stop it? The laptop is 6 months old and I notice this behavior only in recent weeks. I have already noticed that the battery could be emptied after not using it for a few days (probably because of the same issue?), but never noticed the unwanted reboots...

Thank you very much in advance for all the tips.

    Erik.

    Hello

You have disabled the wake-up options in the BIOS?
    Check it!
The permit * wake-up options could power on the laptop, even if the power is turned off.
