Re: Tecra Z40, Win 8.1 - malfunction of the fingerprint reader
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM:
My Tecra Z40 arrived with Win 8.1.
From the beginning I couldn't use the fingerprint utility.
When you access the utility won't happen for a while and then the error: "Could not connect to the fingerprint reader" has finally popped up.
I could also not use the actual construction of fingerprints 8.1 Win (error: this device has biometric devices is not suitable). (PS mind that this built in function is now integrated into the subway and no device biometric parameters are not now present in the control panel to 8.1 win!)
The problem has persisted despite the last fingerprint utility (which comes with the drivers) have been installed to win 8.1. 64-bit directly from the website of TOSHIBA and despite that a biometric device was still present in the Task Manager ("this device is working properly").
SOLUTION:
After literally weeks of research (including getting help from the shop and service Toshiba), I could finally solve the problem.
I uninstalled the driver and the reader of fingerprints from the Device Manager (then only fingerprint reader drivers really disappear).
Then I cleaned the registry (I used CC cleaner software) (or install new wasn't a reason any).
Finally, I installed a Fingerprint Utility equivalent and the driver for Tecra Z50 (fp - sw - 20140605164020.zip) (which I expect to be using the exact same sensor)... and since then everything works fine.
I can now access the utility of fingerprinting and fingerprint log on in Windows.
SUGGESTION OF CORRECTIVE MEASURES:
It seems the driver on Toshiba support website (I think for me it was the Poles) for my exact machine (made by TOSHIBA - detector.exe) is incorrect.
To make matters worse the driver does not communicate useful information on his miss - fit in the Task Manager! If I had to recalculate, in money, as long as I have and a whole lot of support persons had spent on it, there really meaning to improve this list of drivers!
(PS: one of the files in the same directory online regpatch has a virus (VIRUS A Yes) it has been recognized by Antivir!) -Toshiba, you can communicate with someone responsible for the Polish support site!)
OUTSTANDING ISSUES:
No fingerprints, login is possible in Mozilla or Internet Explorer despite the appropriate plugins have been installed as well as the utility of fingerprints, where the web password option has been activated. (no suggestion seems to appear to reach the service fingerprints for the sites that require passwords, maybe that your service gets blocked by popup blocking browser protection?).
I'm really looking forward to this feature.
Make sure that the plugins work correctly with the latest browsers.
Greetings
Hey thanks for this interesting thread and a detailed description.

Compaq nc6400 upgraded xp to win 7 can not get the fingerprint reader to work
I have upgraded xp to win 7, as we will have to do, but can't get the fingerprint reader to work. It appears in the devices that there is one on the machine. I downloaded the drivers for Vista, but they got nowhere. Read in many places as Vista drivers will work but I seem to need more than that. Any clue? Thank you!!!
Hello:
Yes, for Vista fingerprint reader driver is the only one available, but you must install the software HP protect Manager security tools for Windows 7 from the model which succeeded the nc6400, who was the 6910p.
You must also use the W7 driver quick launch buttons.
If your computer laptop bluetooth, you need the W7 bluetooth software and driver...
And you can use the version of W7 HP wireless assistant software.
You can also read the manual tools security protect manager, so you can understand how to use the fingerprint reader.

HP Pavilion dm4: malfunction of the fingerprint reader
My fingerprint reader has recently stopped working. Can't I have a scanner my fingerprints, but the light does not yet appear. I did the BIOS F10 technique, etc., and it did not work. I would really appreciate any support you can provide in this area. Thank you in advance!

First: Your portable computer does not support SimplePass. Yours is an older hardware and probably short Digital Persona Security - not the same program. None of the documents I posted does in no way Digital Persona.
Secondly: You must have administrator privileges to make administrative changes to the operating system. There is no way around it.

You can run a full restore in order to regain control of your computer.
A full recovery will scan your operating system, you must back up your personal data as much as you can and be ready to lose everything you can't back up.

What happens if you need a set of recovery disc?
If you are in the USA / Canada, it seems that you can still order a recovery Kit of r from your Pages to support - see category order recovery media - CD/DVD/USB
Also:

The recovery will reinstall your operating system and the original software on the computer.
You will lose all the programs that you have installed since that date, you will lose your browsers, your bookmarks (export so those!), you will lose your personal settings. You will lose all your fingerprints digital connections site - unless you never thought to export these (make a backup).
Recovery will install digital personal, assuming that it is installed with Notepad.
When the recovery is complete, it MIGHT be possible to install a slightly newer version of the software Personal Digital - understand that the program has several years. the new Word is relative.

You can also try with the Internet tools to recover your password. You can search the Forum to get recommendations of other Experts on this subject; I do not advocate the use of these tools for personal reasons.

Tecra A10 - how to disable the fingerprint reader when it is docked
Hello
I use a Tecra A10 with a 2 Express Port Replicator.
How can I disable the fingerprint reader when it is docked and still use it when undocked? Thanks for your help
Hello
As far as I know that something like this is not possible.
Following this logic, it will be possible to have access to protected files when the laptop is on docking station.Either you use fingerprints or not.

Win 7 slow start - connection with fingerprint reader
Hello
I have a T400s (2.4 GHz and 4 GB) with an Intel SSD and WIn 7 RTM with the last drivers beta of Lenovo.
I have the fingerprint reader enabled for the connection and my startup time of 35 seconds is now shared almost half in the connection of fingerprints and the other half in the rest of the startup procedure.
Or (the finger) described another way if the machine is turned off and I slide my finger to start the machine, it takes about 17 seconds before the fast logon is indicated.
Then the machine says 'pending' for 15-20 seconds during which my personal connection icon is flashing by until it ends the connection and almost immediately displays the desktop.
I am surprised by the very slow connection with my finger already slipped. It would be much faster to turn off fingerprint reader and connect using a password. Someone had this problem and knows how to fix?
Other problems with the boot, I found (and fixed) is the use of a solid as the Windows background color which, for some reason, costs about 15 seconds at boot time! I also had to reflash the firmware of my SSD to win 10 extra seconds at the beginning of the startup procedure.
Carpet
Hello again,
Sometimes I had to wait several seconds after sliding my finger, to the process of connection of kick. I checked the event viewer on my thinkpad T400 and found the security processes that are at work when loggin. I have excluded them from protection against viruses (Microsoft Security Essentials) and restarted the computer. When the logon screen appeared, I spent my finger and boom, the connection process began immediately.
Excluded processes are:
C:\Windows\System32\LogonUI.exe
C:\Windows\System32\winlogon.exe

Tecra Z40-A-12Z - frequent crashes in the morning
Hello
I have a Tecra Z40-A-12Z with 7 fully updated Windows (Windows Update AND Tempro).
When the PC goes to sleep, very often, he refuses to wake up: sometimes the screen remains blank and I have to do a long press on the i/o button to force a shutdown and then it reboot. Or sometimes, I get a BSOD with 0x9f DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE message.
Someone knows what's the problem?
Hello
I googled a bit around (error code) and there are a few hits in the google list.
According to some people with this problem, the problem might be related to one of the drivers installed
Probably one of the devices doesn't wake up upward or doesn't function properly after wake-up system. This can cause the BSOD.One of the users in the Microsoft community solved the similar problem, update the Intel graphics driver.
I think you should check all the drivers maybe you should also get the laptop back to factory State and should test the functionality of the system immediately after that the laptop was recovered.

Satellite P300-PSPCCA - malfunction of the fingerprint scanner
I had my p300 for a little over 8 months know and use the reader of fingerprints as well as the software to connect and protect a VERY large amount of personal data and work related documents.
And yesterday when I tried to access some schemes of work I opened the folder and right click on the file clicked on unprotection leader skipped the small box with the fingerprint to the said analysis of fingerprints digital I did and he said too short scan.
I scanned again and again and again same result every time. What I do im thinking of sending it to the service to have the reader/scanner replaced.
I tried to reinstall the software and I restored the entire score of the point has upward, two weeks ago, but with no result.
He said still too short. Is their anything I can do on my end, so I lose my phone again for 6 weeks (Yes, it took them that long to repair my laptop and that I still had to ultimately collect the repair center)
Hey Buddy
I found this FAQ from Toshiba:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9802O50000R01.htmThis doesn t will provide a solution to your problem, but it provides information about the files that are protected by fingerprints.
The fact is that if you would like to try to reinstall the OS and move the files to another location then the files are not accessible more and you will not be able to take out them more :(I have no idea why your fingerprint reader does not read your fingerprint. Maybe there is something wrong with the sensor or something like that
I think that it s not a software issue since you can receive and message from fingerprints, saying the analysis was too short so I m thinking that it s associated with a sensor or a scanner.Hmm, it would be interesting to know if the footprint would be functions after the system recovery, but that means that the whole HARD disk should be formatted and you would lose the files

How to fix the fingerprint reader of the problems of compatibility with WIN 7 Sony Vaio VGN-SZ260P
The fingerprint reader does not work on my laptop Sony Vaio VGN SZ240P since I've updated from Windows XP. There must be a problem somewhere online. Everyone fell on this problem yet? And if so how do solve you this problem?
Hello Jason,
This will be a little problem. The only available fingerprint driver is for XP, the operating system on this computer comes with. There is a driver at this location: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNSZ240P&upd_id=2134&os_group_id=13 which works on Vista with "loss of functionality.
So, if you have a 32-bit Windows 7 system (it will not work in a 64-Bit environment) do the following: download the XP / Vista driver and install it. Once its installed go to the program icon or the file itself and right click on it, selecting Properties in the window that opens. When the new window opens, go to the top row of tabs and select the Compatibility tab. When that shows check the box run in compatibility and mode in the drop-down list that appears, select Windows 7. Then select Apply and after that finishes select apply to all users. That brings up the same menu for all users - check the compatibility in the Windows 7 box, click on apply, then click OK and click OK.
If something does not work as I've described, post here with details and I'll try to work through it, with you. Let me know if this solves the problem for you.
Kind regards

Tecra M10 and Windows 7 64 - bit - fingerprint reader driver
Hi all
I just bought a M10 - 17 H and was updated for Windows 7 64-bit system.
I used the drivers [posted by Toshiba | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/supportMyProduct.do?].Everything was therefore acknowledged properly share the fingerprint reader and a controller PCI of communication Simple.
I tried the driver provided in the link above (also the uninstall after the driver installation program) useless.
When windows 7 has been installed (new installation) the drive has not been recognized either.I also installed the [driver beta Authentec 64bits | http://www.authentec.com/win7beta64.cfm] yet once anything is.
Does anyone know about the availability of driver?
Thank you
Best regards

I m using HP 6730 b... I installed win 8... My fingerprint reader does not... what I would do. Help, please!
Windows 8 is NOT supported for use on your laptop. The best you can do is try to download and install the Windows 7 driver.
If it doesn't work, it's most likely game over... Look for the "AuthenTec driver in the list

Tecra Z40 - A - win 7 blue screen of death (BSoD)
I have 3 times the BSoD on TECRA Z40 - A experience running windows 7 64-bit English last month!
No new hardware has been installed, only the Toshiba and Windows updates carried out official.
I have attached two screenshots from the dump files, files that have probably caused the crash...
BSOD appears due to serious system problems or malfunction of the equipment.
I think first of all you should get the phone to the factory settings.
If this does not help, the parties must be checked.I think RAM memory modules.
It is very important and must be checked in the first place. -
Tecra Z40 - Has - frequently freezing / hanging under Win 7
Hello
I have toshiba tecra z40, a laptop brand new, that I use for two weeks my laptop frequently freezing and hanging
After that not able to do anything I force restart
OS win 7 64 bit 4 GB ram i5 processor
Pls suggest...
Concerning
Vishnu KHello
Do you run a specific application while the laptop freezing?
These symptoms may be related to some software conflicts between installed applications or some drivers not work.
Have you ever tried to recover the laptop back to factory settings?
Otherwise, I think you should try this procedure and it must conduct audits after the device has been recovered...Please also keep an eye on the MS updates would install automatically... sometimes it may happen that MS updates could confuse the system, and finally the windows would start freezing

Tecra Z40 - A - 16 c - indicator battery life problem
Hello
As from 2015, I own a Toshiba Tecra Z40 - A - 16 c.
I noticed a strange behavior regarding the battery life indicator. When the laptop is fully charged, the indicator shows 100% remaining. And when I use the laptop, the percentage drops slowly, as expected.
However, as soon as somewhere around 50%, the indicator is suddenly decreases and says he has only 5 or 4% left and I should switch it on immediately.Any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Kind regards
OliverThe battery may need calibration. Load and unload completely several times.
If it happens again, the battery needs replacing. You can check the level of wear using HWMonitor from cpuid.com.
