Re: Time to build some Initial on the new Satellite C660-220

Hello

Just bought a Satellite C660-220 with Windows 7 pre-installed.
Confirmation of load on and followed the language and operating system but nothing has changed for half an hour or more.
How long can I wait for the original version to take?

Thank you
Ralph

Hello Ralph

When you start the laptop for the first time recovery image must be installed first. It can take up to 2 hours. I know it may seem stupid now, but all the drivers, tools, utilities and additional software included in the recovery image must be installed and configured.

It will happen automatically. Please note: gift of installation of image recovery t interrupt.

  • Windows 7 does not start on the new Satellite C660-195

    Hello

    I just bought a Toshiba Satellite C660-195 with Windows 7 pre-installed.

This morning I turned on it and it came with a black box with x:windows\system32\drvload.exe in it. This box then disappeared and Startup Repair kicked. He then told me that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. The notice were to remove any device that had recently been attached to the laptop (such as a webcam or music device) but I did not install a hardware or devices. I clicked finish and stop you the laptop.

I lit it again and it's the same thing (new!)

A forum would suggest trying the following: click on the link 'Show advanced options of the system and support recovery' who asked me to choose the configuration of my keyboard, but then when I do & click then it tells me "you must register to access system recovery options" I am never given the option connect!

When using the F8 advanced boot options I'm still not able to solve this problem. The same thing (see above) that happens when I try to start in all security modes, last good known Configuration (Advanced), debug mode, start Windows normally etc. I don't understand it.

Looking for other forums, they suggested dΘplaτant zero while running and then one selects Windows 7 to restore the laptop to its factory settings, but the same thing happens - it shows just the black screen with x:windows\system32\drvload.exe launched then startup repair, that does not solve the problem.

I don't have a disc of windows 7 to restore since I only bought the laptop 6 days ago and didn't have time to do a still. In addition, the laptop must have the restoration on his hard drive, but I can't access it to restore windows.

I'm just a home user understand all technical talk. Please can someone help me?

    Hello

Sorry to hear you I have this problem. The fact is that the new laptops come with only HARD drive recovery image and not with recovery DVDs. What you can try now is to install the recovery image using HARD drive recovery facility.
If this works you need out of the box again.

Please do it following the instructions in this document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

    Please send us comments.

Annoying when you have bookmarks files in other folders of bookmarks.
By pressing the wheel, or by choosing "open in a new tab", the new tab is automatically displayed on the screen, even if this option is not checked on the options for the generic firefox tool (the one on the menu bar).

Try to use the bookmarks - {Ctrl + B} - bar will be open so that you can select multiple bookmarks.

  • Need some advice on the new computer from HP.

I bought a new HP computer and it shipped just yesterday and delivery date is Thursday (12th).  I am new to HP computers, my other 2 desktops are Dell and Toshiba laptop of my wife. Laptop is Win 7 and desktop computers are Win XP. The most recent Win XP is:

    Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit
    Intel Core 2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
    4 GB of Ram.

Don't laugh, my other Dell XP desktop computer is simple core!  Laughing out loud

These 2 computers will retire after I receive and configure the HP computer:

HP Pavilion HPE h8 desktop PC - 1360t
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64
3rd generation Intel Core i7-3770 to processor quad-core [3.4 GHz, 8 MB of shared cache]

Do you think I'll note and difference? (I'm kidding) Laughing out loud

    1. is there a procedure for the implementation of the new computer? I'll be the only one to use it.

    2. I also want to do a recovery disk. Can I do this after having my computer account?

    3. the computer come with Service Pack 1 installed?

HP Pavilion HPE h8 desktop PC - 1360t
    Win 7 x 64 ~ ~ SP1, IE11 ~ ~ FF i7 3770 3.40 GHz ~ 10 GB Ram ~ NIS 2014

    Congratulations for the excellent choice.

    1. is there a procedure for the implementation of the new computer? I'll be the only one to use it.

With your experience, you probably won't have a problem. I strongly support you haven't set a password on it.

You can always add a password later.

    2. I also want to do a recovery disk. Can I do this after having my computer account?

Configuration of the computer and do what is required to complete the user account. It is advisable to only use DVD + R media. You will probably need 3-4 DVD + R and the usual CD - R disc repair system.

    3. the computer come with Service Pack 1 installed? This date should be. There will be updates.

  • Very slow the new Satellite L40

I would be grateful for any help you guys can give me.

I have a Satellite-ish L40 (bought last fall). It's a basic - Intel Celeron death machine / 1.60 GHz / 1015 - RAM under Vista Home Premium. He bought just to make the work of processor + some use very light internet. The problem is that it runs very slowly (including holding still to go when I start by putting).

I tested virus to death. I regularly run detection of spyware / remove programs. I have reduced the number of startup programs immediately. All results say I have a machine of clam. But it is still as slow as hell. And when I say slow, I can do about a cup of coffee in the time it takes to access the net.

I contacted Toshiba support, and the best they could suggest was that I reformat the hard disk, which is dramatic enough. If anyone out there has a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it. Right now, I'm rather regretting my purchase.

    Many thanks - Max

To be honest this radical solution is not a bad proposal.

But what do you mean exactly with the slow machine?
How long does take you to a boot?

The fact is that many applications are preinstalled on this laptop and this could be main reasons for a long start. But the fact is that many of these applications are necessary for the performance of all the features of the laptop.
In addition, an antivirus program that is running in the background and could affect the startup time. Long ago, I used the Norton Antivirus and this software was a reason my laptop was very slow... I changed it and now I'm using the freeware like Antivir software. It's much better...

  • Only the C partition on the new Satellite C50-B-14Z

    Hello

I'm not an experienced user, but I'll do my best to explain the problem.

I bought Toshiba Satellite C50-B-14Z with 8.1 installed Windows, and when starting the system, I noticed that there is only one partition of hard drive, the C partition. When you enter the disk management, I see there are 4 basic partitions already (500 GB disk):

    -Recovery - 1 GB
    -EFI system - 100 MB
    -Recovery - 10.97 GB
-C (boot, page file, crash dump, primary partition) - 453,57 GB

They are all primary partitions, and I read on the forums that you can have only 4 those primary, so I can't add one more to the D partition, I would like to have.
Possibility that I offered in "actions" is to create a virtual hard drive, but I guess that is not the same thing.
I also read that you can create new partition if you have "unallocated" space (partition), but all 4 before indicated are those primary and not affected.

Then, the next opportunity that I read on is to do a right-click on C and "reduce volume", and then create new partition from the rest of the space (if I understand it is good), but then I read in Windows Help:
"When you shrink a partition, all regular files are automatically transferred to the disk to create the new unallocated space. There is no need to reformat the drive to shrink the partition. » ... "If the partition is a raw partition (that is, a lack of a file system) that contains data (for example, a database file)", reducing the partition may destroy the data. ""

Normally, I have never tested a large part with the C partition, and now I don't know if I would destroy some system files while doing this "shrinkage" and I don't have the CD installation for the system, so I can't fix it if I ruin something.

    Please advise...

Yes, this is the right way to have more than one partition. You can define what capacity should partition C and any free space can be "convert" to the D partition.

One last thing: don't forget to create a recovery (DVD or USB) media. It is very important to have recovery image back-up.

  • Webcam is blurry on the brand-new Satellite C660

I just bought my Satellite C660 Saturday and have just opened the webcam for the first time.
It is REALLY blurry. I can't seem to find an option in the settings to fix, and I gave him a towel to check that it was not just dirty.

I read the posts about the different lights that can affect the quality of the image, but I just tested it out in the different lights and it did make a difference.

Can someone give me advice! I'm not really a techno person and I really want the webcam to work so I can use Skype!
    Thank you

Did you remove sticker protector of the cam?

  • Screen flickering on the new Satellite R850-10F

    Hello

I bought my Toshiba computer 3 days ago and my computer laptop screen flickers randomly, especially when the computer is running (CPU load or data WIFI). Twinkle is similar to this image:
http://olavthoresen.com/Pandora/flickering.jpg (I just found this picture on the net to illustrate the glitter - it is not not my computer).

I don't know if it's a hardware problem or something wrong with the graphics drivers. I did the following to solve my problem:
-Reinstalled the graphics driver to support Toshiba
-Updated the BIOS to the old version
-Full system restore (so it's back to factory State)
-Slightly hit in the back of the screen

... and the problem still persists. It seems more that there is a HW problem I can't find someone with the same problem. What should I do?

Bring your notebookt at the local dealership and replacement demand. Don't waste your time anymore.
You should get a new one.

  • Installation of Windows XP Home edition on the new Satellite Pro L550

    Hello

I have a new satellite Pro L550 and need to downgrade to XP. If I want to go back to Windows 7 that I can in the future?

    Thank you, Lisa

    Hello Lista

In my opinion you should look forward and begin using the new Windows7 operating system. It is really good OS, well done and runs with good performance on Toshiba laptops.
Please note that you have most recent laptop with newer hardware model designed for standards of Win7.
Yes, you can install Win7 when you want.

Win7 is fully supported and you won't have any problems with it.
To return to Windows XP edition family has no much sense to me, except to use some old software designed for Windows XP Home edition only.

Anyway, what model of laptop you have exactly (L550-xxx)?

  • Installation is not complete on the new Satellite L510

Started with L510 new, I don't think that the Setup completed correctly, had not start Guide so didn't know was going to take off if long, turned, so now whenever restart us keep getting "Setup prepares your computer for first use" and then welcome in windows 7 and experience of the box system preparation tool ", we click ok and get fatal error occurred trying to sysprep machine" have read in the forum and I tried to press F8 at startup, but do not repair my computer option.

Any ideas where to now, am new to all this.

    >... didn't start Guide so didn't know was going to take so long.
That's the problem. After the first boot recovery image installation will be launched and a lot of different drivers and software components must be installed correctly. This procedure can take more than an hour and must not be interrupted.

I assume that laptop now stuck on some some step and the installation cannot continue.
F8 option works when the installation is completed successfully.

    What to do now?
I don't know where you bought this laptop, but maybe you can talk with your local dealer about your problem. If they have the same specifications in their showroom you can ask them if they can create the recovery to disk and you can use for installing the OS.
Second option is to order directly installation disk from Toshiba under https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx but you must pay for it.

Let me know what you think of this.

I wonder if there is an update of facilities or for my laptop error checking, maybe I am missing some files of utilities Toshiba?

    Hello

Do you use your new Satellite phone with original operating system preinstalled that you got with it?

Have you noticed these problems since the first day or later?
What you can try is to reinstall extra package from Toshiba. This package contains several tools and one of them is utility of flash cards.

Latest version, you can find on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

How do you propose to do?
do I need to uninstall McAfee before you begin to install kaspersky?
I read [former position | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=48993] who's talking about problem of uninstalling McAfee...

THX and sorry for my English.

So I use Avira before Avira installation I delete originally preinstalled application antivirtus. I recommend you do the same thing.
On my new Satellite, I removed McAffe without any problem using the option Uninstall in Control Panel > programs and features.

After restarting the laptop installed Kaspersky and I'm sure that everything will be OK.
