Re: Toshiba Stor.E Basics 1.5 TB, USB 3.0 - about connection internal

Please how can I know if inside the drive is sata native or with USB soldering on the circuit board?

My model is: HDTB115EK3BA

Thank you.

Hello

Unfortunately, the Toshiba STOR. E BASICS - BLACK 2.5 specifications page "-1.5 to provides no details on the controller, but in my view the inside of the box, you will find a common SATA 2.5 which is connected to a controller HDD USB SATA."
http://www.Toshiba.EU/hard-drives/portable/store-basics/hdtb115ek3ba/

You can also try some freeware like HDDscan for example tools to scan the HARD drive and get more details.

  • Toshiba Stor.E Basics 2.5 ": how to get rid of the folder lang

    Hey there.

So I have this external hard drive 500 GB Toshiba Stor.E Basics 2.5 " , bought a year in Italy.
I use it on a MacBook with a few apps, so it works perfectly well.

But the thing is there is this "lang" folderwith a subfolder of separate for each language (more a subfolder "resources"), which takes almost 28 GB of storage capacity, although it is completely empty. When I try to delete it, it doesn't let me, I get a message "file X is used" (where 'X' represents the subfolders).

So I would like to know if there is a way to get rid of this file, as 28 GB are not exactly redundant.

    Thanks in advance! =)

According to the disc specification page HARD (basic Stor.E); the quick start guide, as well as operating manuals was preinstalled.
But I doubt that these documents should 28 GB of storage. So I think that some of your applications created the mentioned language folder, including subfolders.

Usually, you must close the application that uses the files so you can easily remove the single folder. But in some cases, it may not be clear which program or a background process has locked a file or a folder.
In this case, you can use a software free ware / tools to unlock the stubborn folder to change or remove.

The software (for windows) called Unlocker is able to unlock the file, and then you could remove it properly.

  • Toshiba Stor.E D10 on Satellite A660 PSAW3E esata connection

    Hello!!!

A few days ago, I bought a 1.5 to Toshiba Stor.E D10 eSATA HARD drive.
I tried to connect it via the eSATA cable. At first I saw my D10 HDD 1.5 in Win explore (Win 7 Home Premium x 64) as drive E.
When I tried to access the drive, I get a "device not ready" error I was expecting 5 minutes with HARD drive connected externally. I got the same error. When you look in the Device Manager in the records section I couldn't see it. All I see is the internal 640 GB HARD drive.
When I connect it via the USB 2.0 connection, the drive is recognized and working properly. I could transfer data to this subject with 23MBps max on USB 2.0 speed is 60MBps (480 Mbps).
As I work with huge video files (~ 10 GB per hour of video) I need an eSATA connection to expedite the transfer.

Plese help me with this problem!

  • Partner Toshiba Stor.e 2.5 "power USB3 problems

I had the partner Toshiba Stor.e 2.5 "external hard drive USB3 for about 5 months and couldn't be happier... until tonight.

I have it plugged into my laptop Satellite Pro and nothing happened. It seems that the fault is where the cable connects to the device. If I pull the cable up the light blue lights and voltage of my hard drive, when I let go the power ceases.

It seems that the connection of the device is quite fragile and I can move it up and down easily.
I took care of the product and have not been subjected to undue constraints so I'm not very happy.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem?
Is this a design flaw or a single random problem?

    Can it be fixed?

    Hello

You you connected this external USB HDD two USB ports on your laptop?
I think that you must use a USB cable to Y that allows to connect the HARD drive to two USB ports, because this HARD drive needs 900mA.

The common standard USB 2.0 port (I guess that your laptop supports only USB 2.0) provides 500mA and usually is not enough for the USB 3.0 HARD drive.

Another solution could be the use of the USB hub using an external power supply.

  • TOSHIBA StorE Basics 750Go - Partition problems

    Hello

I hope you can help me or point me in the right direction.

I bought this Toshiba StorE Basics 750Go v63700-b part number: hdtb107ek3aa a few days ago.
When I plugged into my USB port it came right after Windows & installed the necessary drivers.
I copied then over 200 GB of information.
    Everything worked very well.

My daughter was so taken and plugged into his iMac and she said Yes when Timje machine was asked if it was ok to initialize the disk. Well, she realized her mistake about 10 sec in the process.

So here's the question. Time machine wrote a new partition table on the disk, ergo not more fat or grease backup.

I'm trying to find out what was the preinstalled configuration partition of the drive when it is plugged. That way I can at least fix the partition table entries, type, size and so on. This will allow me to then use the recovery software to get the files.

I hope you know where I can find this information.

    Kind regards

    Momentum

You talk about this HARD drive externally. Right?
    http://www.Toshiba.EU/discontinued-products/hdtb107ek3aa/

Hmm, I guess it could be the NTFS file format.

But I m not very well if you'll be able to save the data after the file format changes.

  • Toshiba STOR. E basics 1 TB - extremely slow

    Hello

I recently bought this Toshiba STOR. E basics 1 TB USB 3.0 HDTB110EK3BA and it's extremely slow, taking already about 48 h for a copy of less than 100 GB.
I am formatting it Mac Os more and using a Mac Book Pro with USB3

    Why is this happening?

    Thank you
    BR / Javi

    Why data transfer is slow?
Who knows there are several reasons for this, you will need to check some things just to get a response for this

Fact is that this HARD drive supports the USB 3.0 standard.
This means that the HARD disk works with USB 3.0 performance (~ 130 MB/s)

Still is it HARD USB 3.0 drive needs more energy than the common USB 2.0 HDD.
900mA needs of USB 3.0, USB 2.0 HARD drive must 500mA
That is why its recommended to connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports using the USB Y cable.

However the speed of data transmission can be limited to the laptop (chipset).
Maybe your internal HARD drive provides more performance for transmitting data to the external HARD drive.

I read some tests on this HARD drive, and many users got the great performance.
With the help of USB 2.0 ports: 31.8 MB/sec in writing; 31.5 MB/s read
    using USB 3.0 ports: 105,45 MB/sec in writing; 108,89 MB/s read

I recommend you install Disk as ATTO Benchmark tools to check performance using another computer.

  • Stor.e Basics 1 TB USB3.0 & 2.0 transfer speed slow drive HARD Portable on Windows7

Hello, I recently bought a couple of these bases Stor.e 1 TB USB3.0 & 2.0 HDD Portable of pcworld, bought 2 drives good previous experience, but now I think that because this is a new batch of discs (made in June 2012, instead of dec 2011 my last work entirely without problem stor.e Basics portable HARD drive) I now have the problem of slow start & stop/pause when the transfer of large files medium size 2GBs to 5GBs each (or more) of my Windows 7 laptop to laptop HARD drive using the USB 2.0 standard.

the previous player without problem (made in Dec 2011), when the file transfer starts the application used to start at about 40 MB/s then falls to about 30 MB/s and stabilize all about this speed, these lots of June 2012 starts slot 20MB / s and falls below 5 MB / s.

but that is not the big problem, the big problem is now transfer is in pause/stop and departure, transfer of a few seconds, then stopped for 10-20 seconds and agains starts, then stops / pauses, so used to take the couple minutes portable portable HARD drive transfer a file of 4 GB, but now takes ages (7-8 minutes or more) because of the slow speed and stop/pause & start the problem.

I haven't changed anything on my laptop Windows7 and other drives of 1 TB per other manufacturers/brands are fine, so that means Toshiba must have changed some hardware or software/firmware of the player, lastest new problems, new batch, batch previous everything was fine.

At first I thought it was just 1 player that could be the problem, but now readers have tested and both have the same problem. Oddly enough if the disc seems to be ok/normal when I transfer on my Vista laptop, which is usually always slower when trasnfering over the laptop Windows 7, Vista typically files transfers to nearly 20 MB/s while Windows 7 to about 30 MB/s. But now the two Toshiba drives during the transfer on the Windows 7 laptop, slower starts (compared to the Dec2011 lot), and then descends slot 5 Mbps, then stops / pauses, then starts the process repeated several times, and then finally completed the transfer.

Also 'time remaining' bit in "file transfer popup", told me how much minutes & seconds to transfer, almost immediately (usually less than 5 seconds) when I start the transfer, but now if I transfer a big'ish of the file for example 2 GB + 'time remaining' says 'Calculation' for a while (10to20 seconds or more), then finally tells me the time remaining. So everything is just much slower compared to before.

Anyone know what is the cause of problems in promoting news readers? necessary updates?
    Thank you
    Dave

    > anyone know what is the cause of problems in promoting news readers? necessary updates? Thank you

Not sure if I can help, but have you tried to format the external DRIVE to NTFS drive?
    Try to do this.

But generally the start & stop/pause should not appear when transferring large files so possibly it could be a HARD drive problem. Its odd that this happens with both hard drives, but a HARD disk problem could also be possible.

  • Toshiba Stor.e ALU 2 s 3.5 "does not work with my XBOX

    Hi all, first timer here

Just got a Toshiba external hard drive as a gift. Wanted one for a while, mainly to use with my XBOX 360 to watch movies and listen to music on. However the xbox does not pick up the hardrive (connected via USB), but he'll be looking for my friends generic hardrives. Anyone has any idea why?

It looks like a fairly recent model, here are the specs in the (very rare) manual that came with the hard drive:

    Toshiba stor.e 2 s 3.5 ALU "
    1 TB
    USB 3.0
Backward compatible with USB 2.0 (I don't know what that means "backward" here)

I'm not a computer person. I use the laptop to surf the web, media, applications etc, basic College work. Few of my friends have external hard drives, mainly cheap generic brands of the average and all work fine on my XBOX, just plug-and-play.

If anyone has any advice on how to do it, or even where to go woth my question I would really appreciate it.

    TIA
    Creamy

    Hello

In my view Backward compatible means that you can use this HARD drive with USB 2.0 ports. But the fact is that USB 3.0 port provide 900mA and USB 2.0 only 500mA.
I guess that's your HARD drive
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/en/store-externe-Festplatten/ALU2-s-35/
According to specifications, you can find info that this HARD drive should 900mA

Therefore connect the HARD drive to two USB 2.0 ports using a USB Y cable.
I think this will help you.

  • External USB HARD drive Stor.E basics Sleep Mode

    Hi all
Recently, I bought Stor.E Basics 500 GB USB 3.0 external hard drive to store my archives of work (mainly the .docx and .xls formats).
During my work after maybe 5 or 10 minutes, my drive HARD past in mode "sleep" and it takes time to wake up my drive and resave the file. Is there a solution to my problem? I need to disable the Sleep Mode.

    A few things I've tried:
    (1) I tried to use 'Always On' profile in the control panel power option
    (2) off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" devices-online all storage devices Usb root Manager.
    (3) and also disk management-properties-hardware-online HARD drive-online policies online online => optimize for performance.

    OS - Windows XP SP3.
    PS Sorry for my English.

Do you have the same HDD like this one?
    http://www.Toshiba-multimedia.com/EU/store-external-hard-drives/basics/

This HARD drive has need of 900mA power supply.
This means that you need a USB 3.0 standard or 2 x USB 2.0 ports

I think that if your computer supports support only USB 2.0, you must use the USB cable to Y which allows you to connect 2 USB ports HARD drive.

  • Toshiba STOR. Download of base E driver

I have a Toshiba STOR. E BASIC 500 GB hard disk external. I plugged on an old laptop and it automatically installs its self and worked well, I managed to put all my files on to. I then connected on a laptop more recent (Windows 7) to do the same thing, but it could not install automatically the good diver.

I followed the suggestions 'help' and checked my computer setting can automatically search for and install updates, but still no luck. I manually install the driver from the website, but I put t understand all the options. I have to select for the product I own.

Can someone tell me or suggest another method that might work?

All these external drives are generally of plug and devices play so the correct driver should be installed automatically after minute or two connected device is recognized correctly and you see in Windows Explorer.

We don t know this laptop configuration more recent, but if everything is installed correctly including all the drivers, I think that your external HARD drive should be detected properly.
You can test it on another laptop or desktop PC just to see if the same thing happens again?

  • Toshiba Store Tv 1.5 - subtitles

    Hello everyone.
I m new in this forum that I recently had a Toshiba Store Tv 1.5.
First excuse my ignorance as Im not very in all technologies of this and everything, and my query may seem silly...

I wonder how can I put subtitles for movies Im store in the material.

I Don t really know how to do and I like to watch movies in their original language. I would appreciate if you could please let me know how to do it.

    Thank you much in advance.

    Hello

    I think that's not possible.
As far as I know the subtitles are part of the software.

  • Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive no longer works

    Hi all

I have a new Toshiba stor.e 1 TB HARD drive and was transfer photos and music to it and all was fine, I ejected it but when I plugged it back I get the message:

    F: is not accessible
    Data error (cyclic recovery control)

A quick search and it says that run cmd and chkdsk but that simply says:

The type of the file system is RAW
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives

    Please can someone help?

    Thank you

According to the article in the Microsoft Knowledge base, the data error (cyclic redundancy check) - indicates that the operating system has found a car with bad sectors or some other intermittent problem.

In my opinion, you should go to disk management and check if the external HARD disk is listed:

    -> Panel-> administration-> computer management tools--> disk management

If his list, you can change the file RAW to NTFS format
Then you can perform a chkdsk command.

But you lose the data, change the file format.

As far as I know, using the command: + convert DriveLetter: /fs:ntfs + (drive letter + should be replaced with the drive letter of the USB HDD) should not lead to data loss
