Re: Very bad sound on Equium A100

Hello. I have an Equium A100 with sound problems. The best I can describe it, but it sounds like a Dalek.
I am running Xp pro. I uninstalled and re installed the driver several times in the hope that would sort, but that did not work.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Before starting to discuss your problem please post what model of laptop you have exactly (A100-xxx) and what operating system you use.

By the way: this A100 is old enough and, if I m remembering well, some of them were shipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition. I assume that with original preinstalled OS sound must be OK. Can you confirm this?

    Hello
Sorry if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find an answer.
My Equium A100 - 027 (PSAAQ) claims that the audio device is properly installed and works OK, but I can't get any sound from the speakers.

I tried the latest sound card drivers from this site (and live RealTek) but without success.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

    Hello

The laptop uses a Realtek ALC861 audio chip.
You need to install the realtek High Definition Audio Codecs on the site!

The old driver should be removed first. Remove the sound from the Device Manager, and then after reboot again to install the new driver High Definition Audio Codecs!

By the way; the DD Realtek Audio Manager should be found in the control panel.
Check if the volume control has been set to a higher level!

  • Equium A100 Win XP PSAABE - Sound Jittery & slow start / running

    Equium A100
    PSAABE
    Windows XP

    Help please.

I had a recurring injury that have begun to appear immediately after a Windows update Auto + reboot.
Stutters sound on the PC (on any application) and is very nervous and the PC starts and runs very slowly.
Anti-Virus Protection of Norton Protection Auto turns red (not sure of how it is important).

Apparently, this American a not uncommon problem, but alas, I still have to find a thread that solves it.

The way I used to work around the problem was to do a restore to an earlier date - which seemed to fix the problem for a few weeks.
The problem started the summer and one for an update around October time, I found a restore wouldn't simply clear the problem.

I have to adopted many solutions/suggestions as possible - sorting on the start-up procedure (MSCONFIG), the temptation of power, completely caught Norton off the coast (not), topped up audio drivers, re-flashed the bios...

However, I am convinced the problem is with windows - when the PC starts I get really nervous sound on the windows welcome jingle - it comes before anything else does - looks like something is in the running.

The PC was fine before that, I ran all the checks hardware/memory and all seem to work well.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Thank you

    Derek

Very well!!! The great work mate!

  • Equium A100-027: after installing XP no sound

After buying an Equium A100-027 with pre-installed Vista Home, I had to remove this in order to recharge with XP Pro SP2 to join to the domain of my company.

Everything is installed properly and audio drivers are also present and work according to the Device Manager but no sound is heard. Also, I can't install the SRS Tru Surround driver because of the error message saying not supported on this computer.

    Hello

Where did you download the XP drivers?
Did you use the right method?

For me it s a clear error message-> the driver cannot be installed because the phone does not support. You must use a compatible.

Equium A100 is very similar to the Satellite A100. Try the drivers in this section and check the different versions

  • Equium A100: Crisp & slows down sound while the use of CP's high

When I play a cd/dvd, or extract the contents of cd for laptop, or whatever it is which includes the use of the D: drive, the sound is all distorted and crunchy and slows down. also, the CPU usage is very high, and it won't let me write anything on disks.

This has happened a few months now, it was workin perfectly before hand and I've only had the phone since Christmas, so it is still under warranty. It's an equium A100 series.

I've been looking around on the forums and found athread on a similar problem but on a laptop satellite, and which was resolved by a new drive being installed because the original was defective. the link to this thread is:

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=21308

so is that what someone had the same problem? does anyone know if a new hard drive would solve the problem on my laptop? and if not does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks for any help, dave.

    Hello

Equium A100 is very similar to the Satellite A100. So maybe it's really a problem even as described in the other thread.

But listen David, before you send the laptop and want to replace the HDD try first to reinstall the OS from the recovery CD!

Try everything first format the whole HARD drive, erase the partitions and reinstall the OS.

If this does not help, it would be wise to check, if the same thing would happen with the new HARD drive!

  • Equium A100-147 - sound devices do not work correctly

I've owned an Equium A100-147 for only less than a year.

The problem I have is that if I put pressure on the area around the left speaker (where is the VGA port) there is a substantial "cracking" / rattling noise. The right does not exhibit this problem.

The other day with a same case design (model Satellite A), I got another PC Toshiba laptop and it seems to have a slightly stiffer construction quality.

Is it worth getting it checked under warranty while I still have the warranty? Or am I just too picky?

    See you soon

Interestingly enough, why you support on the area around the speakers. As far as I know the speakers are placed between the keyboard and display and keyboard there is no pressure to the speakers. Very strange method to test the functionality of the laptop! ;)

In any case, you should contact the service because the speaker should be placed and fixed correctly.

  • Equium A100-338 has started to go very slow after using the recovery CD

I used the recovery CD after my Equium A100-338 has started to go very slow, it still seems slower than it used to be.
I haven't added anything to the computer from the CD recovery and verified the Manager tasks to see if I could spot anything suspicious.

Statistics say, use 18-22% CPU, but the physical memory is about 68% is this normal or should it be less?

Is there a list of standard processes I can check against mine to see if its doing something, it shouldn't be?

    Thank you

    Hello

I think you feel that unity is a bit slow due to the high amount of different processes that run in the context of the BONE.

The fact is that your laptop supports various features such as buttons FN, Toshiba control buttons, etc.
    All this has needs drivers.

In addition, as I m not wrong the Norton Internet Security has been installed on your system.
It s part of the image of Toshiba and this tool could affect the performance of the system.

I have used in the past, but now changed to another application that doesn t need a lot of material resources.

So if you want you can disable or delete some of the tools and utilities that are not important to you and could clean the system using a 3rd third party tool called CCleaner

    Welcome them

  • Equium A100-338: Sound does not work currently running Win XP

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Equium A100-338, I recently installed windows XP on it but my sound is not working now.

I downloaded all of the toshiba site realtek drivers still doesent work. Can someone please send tell me what sound card I have and where do I download it from.

    Thank you

    Hello

The problem is that you need install Microsoft patches before you continue installing the audio driver.

I found some useful tips and advice in this forum and it seems that you need to install the
KB888111 and KB835221 hotfix before installing the sound driver.

    Please check this!

  • Equium A100 - 147 Virtual Sound reinstall problem

I read a few posts about the same problem I have, but with no definitive answer. I have the satellite A100-147 with Windows XP Media Center. I downloaded a few files updated on the Toshiba site (all for my model), including:

    acsil-xpmce-100008-en
    Assist-xpmce-10300-en
    confree-xpmce-59007ab-en
    csutil-xpmce-7211006
    Tonalite-xpmce-3221506-en
    display-xpmce-142004543

    Pcdt-xpmce-321u-en
    pwrsav-xpmce-70307i-en
    sdform-xpmce-2200-en
    SD-secure-xpmce-104-en
    Sound-xpmce-51005253
    Toupad-xpmce - 10001st - en

and then: tvs-xpmce-10312-en (latest driver Virtual Sound for the A100-147)

I uninstalled the old version of the virtual sound driver before attempting to install a new one. But as I've seen elsewhere, I get the message:

"Toshiba Virtual Sound can't stand your computer."

I spent all afternoon looking up and trying to find ways to solve this problem. I've since updated my BIOS (bios-550win). Not a thing I try it will work. I even deleted the references to his virtual in the registry where there was no ongoing conflict. It made no difference if.

Could someone Toshiba please explain to me why I am told that I can not install which worked perfectly until this morning, before these updates, which are all intended for my laptop model? This is ridiculous. My apologies for my tone, but have lost hours on it, I'm extremely frustrated and you want just like it was back in my laptop (and before you ask, Yes, I tried a system restore, but that does not work either).

    Thank you

  • Equium A100-147-glitch-pop-crack if the sound is muted

    Hello.

I have an Equium A100-147 with Vista home Premium SP1 and 1 GB of RAM.

Recently I get a glitch-pop-crack from time to time even if the audio output is cut.
Have no idea what could be the cause?
I'm more or less certain that everything is up-to-date.

    Thanks in advance.

I never heard a question also and now I can t say what's the reason for this. :(

You have the same problem on external speakers?
What operating system do you use?

Perhaps you need to update the audio driver you can find on the Toshiba site:

  • Equium A100-027 - bad wireless connection

My Toshiba Equium A100-027 has problems connecting to a wireless network.
We have recently received Virgin broadband and it works for everyone!

It is only wireless which is faulty, when the cable is connected it works fine.
Is it possible to test if it's my computer or the broadband that is faulty?

Anyone else had problems with their Wi - Fi?

    Thank you

    Hello

    You must run these common tests;
    -update the WLan driver
-check if the WLan card is activated on this laptop. You must activate the WLan switch on the side of the laptop (LED should be on) and use the FN + F8 buttons to choose the WLan card.
-Check the standard WLan (802. 11 A B G) local area network and router WLan card should support the same! WLan card settings can be changed in the Device Manager-> card WLan-> properties-> Advanced tab
s ' ensure that WLan encryption is just and WiFi encryption password has been set correctly.

    Good luck
