  Sorry to post this kind of question again, but I spent 2 days to navigate on this forum, the forum of The Mathworks, and several web pages, I still cannot find the thing that will solve my problem

  I'm trying to control an Agilent 34970 A (with 40 channels 34908 A module) to read values of temperature thermocouples. I use a laptop (win7/64) and an adapter USB-to-serial (MCT U232-P9, who uses the Philips P87C52X2BA, not the FTDI chipset in case it makes a difference) and I installed the driver for this card. The adapter is recognized by Windows and appears as COM4.

  I put the COM port settings in Windows as they are on the unit (9600 baud, parity: none, 8 data bits, flow control: Xon/Xoff; the stop bits are not specified on the device).

  And... TADAAA... it does not work!

  I tried to use NI MAX (version 5.5), LabView (2013/32-bit version) and MatLab (R2012b) to send the * IDN? command and read the response. The part 'writing' is fine (at least it does not generate an error, but I don't know if the command reaches the instrument), but there is no response from the unit. If I try to read the COM port, I get the 1073807339 error (time-out before the operation ended). I tried to see if there any bytes that will be read at the port, but there is no...

  In LabView, I put the Xon and Xoff characters to those specified in the manual of Agilent (0x11 for Xon and Xoff 0x13), but there are a few other settings that I am not so sure: "Activate termination Char" (should be on or off? Tried both - no change) and the tank itself ending (I left it to the default '\n').

  I know this isn't really a problem NOR / Labview, but given that so many people in this community seem to have experienced this problem, I would be very grateful if someone can help solve me this problem!

  First of all, it would be interesting to know if you are using the OS preinstalled Toshiba.
  Second, you must check the status of the USB controller in Device Manager.

  I recommend you to unplug all external USB devices to the laptop.
  Delete all the USB root hubs and Device Manager USB host controllers.
  Then restart the laptop and wait until Windows will reinstall all USB ports again.
  Then you can plug in a USB mouse or USB again.

  Im working on a project that contains a fuel level (capacitive sensor) sensor. My task is to connect the sensor to a PC and indicate the level of fuel on a chart. The instrument works with 1-wire communication, but Ive built a USB converter for it. So I want to plug it into the USB port on the computer and use Labview to access the fuel level. Its important, I need indicate level constantly, because the probe will build in a bus to see his level of fuel. I've never used instrument in LV control, that is why now wrote im.

  I have a problem similar to some other posts, but different enough so that I write it here.

  When I insert a USB storage device (like a Microcenter * Go Flash) Windows 7 Ultimate just shows a yellow exclamation mark next to the device in Device Manager. OtherDevices, USB Flash drive. Software update driver fails, no update.  Uninstalling and reinstalling has no effect.

  After digging through the forums, I tried to copy the usbstor.inf and .pnf to the Windows\inf directory and reinstalled the driver through the Device Manager, and it loaded right up.

  I don't know, but I suspect that the impact of this change, there are other devices that can complain. For now, the process of transfer between W7 and VMWARE/linux seems flawless.

  You can get it in string as

  I have a problem with the reading of a text file in LabView which I think is pretty easy to do, but since I'm really new to labview (and programming at all) I'm having a hard time to understand.

  So basically, I use the VI 'write file to measure' to write some test results to a text file. I'm just the ones and zeros so the text file looks something like this:

  1.00000

  0.00000

  1.00000

  ..

  and so on.

  I would then import these values in labview but I don't want decimals and I would like that everything on the same line, something like this:

  1 0 1 0 etc etc.

  (the idea is to then be able to convert the values to a hexadecimal number 1-F, if for example the above entry would result in 6.)

  I tried to use the function of text file reading, but I don't know how to convert then the entrance of my desired format.

  Also if you have any idea on how to start playback at the first 1, and then read the next 4 entries contact that would be great as well.

  I tried to do some homework and generally save them on my USB disk of 4 GB, up to our days, the car worked well (even when the phone fell off my bed and the USB it folded kind of last night).   Hello ashitakaLax,

  The USB-6008 housing has an internal pull-up resistance to 5V (according to page 22 of the User Guide and specifications) that pulls the line to 5V when nothing is connected.

  In order to change this, you can add an external resistance of menu drop down to make the output to the earth when it is disconnected, if your device should get power to fuel the high line.

• Serial port buffer - how to read the last entry?

  I'm trying to read data from a device connected to the serial port. The instrument makes a row of data, last updated CR LF at pre-set intervals (0.2 seconds, 0.5 sec., etc.). I want to read the most recent line to an interval of time different (for example 1 s). What happens is that the buffer fills, and when I read that I always get the whole buffer content, starting with the first (oldest) row of data.  After reading, I empty the buffer to prevent overflow.

  From the red string I, I serach occurrence of CRLF and take the data before the game. This will give me the first line of data (oldest), sometimes incomplete.

  What I want is the last line. There must be an easy way to achieve this?

  I can't use the Frother with my instrument.

• My SD card reader and USB 3.0 Hub have left both answer but see the place in the information system. How can I make them work again?

  On my Macbook Pro 13 inch Core I5 2 .6GHz, I just noticed that my SD card reader and USB ports have stopped working. They hub and drive appear in the information of the reporting system.
