Reading series: maybe stop character?

Hi all

I'm trying to use labview to plot the data I send from a pic microcontroller. I'm programming in c pic so I can quite easily format the output. More specifically, at this time I sent hexadecimal numbers in this format "xxxx" on the serial port. I used playback advanced series and writing vi sample, got rid of the portion of Scripture, added a hexadecimal string to convert to the number function and send the output to a graph. My problem is to get the numbers down. For example if I send the FFFF number sometimes he read _FFF sometimes it reads FFF_ F_FFF etc., when of course I want to tread FFFF. I don't know how to solve this problem. I spent a ton of time on this because sometimes it works perfectly if i ' ts frustrating because I can't figure out what to do.  I have the following settings

2400 baud

5 bytes read

input buffer 5 bye (not really sure that it should be)

no flow control

endless, read about the stop character

So I thought maybe I should add a termination character to my output, such as \n... but if I have it and labview to stop read the stop character as soon as he comes to \n it stops completely. I'm sorry if this post is not clear, please let me know if you need any information, I really had an incredible amount of time on it so that any help would be great

  • Why do I get a warning "stop character has been read" with VISA read and TCPIP?

I use VISA readings with raw sockets TCPIP without problem with NI-VISA 3.0.1 but when I moved to NI-VISA 4.4 I was getting timeout errors.   Time-out errors disappeared when I put the stop character allow the property (which seemed to be default in NI-VISA 3.0.1) but now I get a warning indicating that the "stop character was read.

Can I turn off this warning?   Can I put the ending character activate by default?   How can I get rid of this annoying warning?

    Hey, Dagwood,.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to globally change the attribute VI_ATTR_TERMCHAR_EN to VI_TRUE.  Talked with R & D ability to use registers and they say that it is not accessible through that.  To answer why this change was made so the developer who made the switch isn't around more I can not find his reasoning to explain.  The best to you in your code would be during initialization, use the node property VISA to make the change and until the closure of this VISA resource, this change will be the value that you assign the value.  I'm sorry, we cannot provide any other solution for these problems.  Also, if you feel that it is a heavy load on your programming practice you can certainly submit a product idea for the ability to change the overall values for default attributes VISA.

    Thank you

  • Change the stop character doesn't seem to work

    Hello world

I hope that this will be a quick fix and I'm just on something stupid!

In short, I'm doing a LabView program to control a pump syringe via RS - 232. I use a Keyspan USB serial adapter to connect my laptop to the device. After a repair on my own, I was able to download a program HyperTerminal and can communicate with my well pump (change of position, speed, during initialization, etc.). However, when I try to do the same thing with LabView, nothing happens.

First of all, I can say that LabView sends my pump data, because the light on the USB-serial adapter flashes quickly once (its indication that it comes to Rx/Tx). The same thing happens when I communicate with him via the HyperTerminal program. He seems to be in working condition.

After a lot of reading posts on this forum and developer of the examples, I think that the problem is to send a character of endpoint with my data string. For example, when I have the program HyperTerminal open, I can enter "/ 1ZR ', which will initialize the pump. That move the pump to its original position and prepares for further information. When I go into the properties of "stop character" in this software, it is said: '13,10"(with the quotes). As far as I know, 13 in decimal is a return carriage (or 0xD hex) and 10 is a line break. I don't know if it sends them both. The company says that my program does not work because my LabView program is probably not send the right stop character.

I tried almost everything I can think of to change the stop character. I know that the VISA VI set up the Serial Port uses the same settings as my COM port shows when I open Control Panel (9600 baud rate, etc.). I had a big bang and thought that maybe I should check MAX and see what his settings are... they are the same. HOWEVER, when I open the "VISA test Panel" on MAX for my COM port, under "Settings/o", the stop character is set to line feed \n. I have change to \r carriage return, but when I click on "apply changes", I get this:

    SET to 0xD stop character
    No error

And when I close the Panel test and re - open, always back to \n line break. I also tried to change the setting of "tank of termination" in the VISA set a Serial Port to a constant (as a 13) or control (which I tried like 0xD hex as well as 13 decimal).

I'm fairly convinced it's the issue... If anyone has any idea on how I can force it to use a carriage return? I even tried to disable 'enable the separation tank' and manually compose a string with a \r at the end, but it does not work either...

I have attached a photo of a simple VI which shows what I want to do (the 2000ms waiting was put there just so that he would not close the COM port before initialization completed... its useless I think).

Thanks for your help in advance!

    B

The stop character with the definition configuration function has absolutely nothing for adding a character of termination in writing. Look at the advanced example for how to do it. In addition, if you want to do with the string you enter, you must activate '-' code display. It is a right click option.

  • Visa erroneous zero byte in reading series

    Hi all

Trying to debug a problem that I have with a Labview2011 VI and the USB-485/2 device.

The installer has been simplified to get the wire from port 1 to port 2 in a 2wire-auto configuration. As described here:
    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/D5CC369B3E3E6F0586256D1600563245

    and here:
    https://decibel.NI.com/content/docs/doc-4169

Port 1 sends a message of 8 bytes by using visa / writing then begins a visa-reading of 8 bytes. (timed content in a loop of 10 Hz)

Port 2 is configured in a single loop using the wait for event visa byte, then visa-read 8 bytes, connected directly to visa / entry.

For 1 Port data transmitted, the data received and read visa error code are recorded on the disc.

The success of installation passes are receives data without loss... so the back loop work...

However! Occasionally, another zero byte is read from visa-reading the port1.

Almost all the code read visa back operations "1073676294" port 1 (the number of bytes transferred is equal to the number of entries requested. More data may be available) which is very good. Even if sometimes the error code '0' is back (operation completed successfully). This "0" code seems to be associated with the extra byte in the receiver.

This causes a problem because it throws the mismatch scheduled application command/response pairs.

I tried many tariffs buad, visa-read timeouts and transmit frequencies, the problem remains. Adding a visa-flush buffer prevents the error from reproducing, but won't stop him intervened and upsetting the logic of command/response.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you send real binary data (which it looks like you are), you should have the off stop character.  Remember that reading VISA will be completed when the FIRST of the following: the desired number of characters is read, the character of endpoint found, there is a timeout.  So if there's a 0xA in your data, which will stop the read before that you would like it.

  • stop character during the IV sweep with keithley 2600

    Hello.

I have a labview code to make the IV scans on a solar cell.

When I sweep V and I measure, it works great every time. Totally reproducible results.

When I I sweep and measure V, I get randomly 410 interrupts with the vi printbuffer() when playing back the results.

On the edge of survey error, I find the following details of the error.

WARNING 1073676293 was held at VISA read in KE26XX.lvlibrint Buffer.vi-> sweepiv_test_2600.vi

    Possible reasons:

VISA: (Hex 0x3FFF0005) the termination character was read.

I disabled the stop character in him intialise Keithley 2600 vi, but the problem persists. The strange thing is that the code for the dredging of the V is exactly the same for I sweep (with obvious switches in the source and measurement).

It seems that the levels of measurement/source are eventually go out of scope and causing the weatherstripping to end at the beginning. But even when I force ranges to a level that would deny such a problem, I always get the error intermittently.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can change a property for the stop character node and allow stop character in port VISA.  It's under settings based on the Message.  However, I have not work with GPIB to know how he handles things rather than serial ports.  I don't have your Keithley VI to find out what's going on inside of them.

  • PCI-6601 reading pulse without stop the meter

Hi, the problem seems to be simple, just for the moment that I did not came up with a reasonable solution. I'm programming the meter 6601 for the following using my own routines of driver (in visual studio 2008 C++) for read/write registers. I follow carefully the DDK examples. I started with the example 1 and 4, and it works very well and now I have to somehow come up with the following code:

    1. I use the signal specific to 10 MHZ external H. MAser as input to the meter.

    2. I start the meter with arm software and am constantly read the values of the counter.

    3. I want everything just to read a single pulse (1PPS) and make the absolute time of the counter in time synchronization UTC. He should simply give me the meter reading of the rising edge of the PPS signal but after that it should be possible to read the counter as usual by reading the save save values, so read pps without stopping, nor anything in the registers of meter loading or b, simply give a pulse reading and continue even as 2...

    Any suggestions?

  • Data drops using reading series visa

I'm having a problem using reading series visa when you transfer a picture from one PC to another.  Writing PC transfers data systematically as seen by the probe on the chain get into writing.  Exe read the string displays however the string table once and then on the next reading displays an empty string.  It seems new and fourth without a complete data string and an empty string.  The vi that data comes displays a table updated consistent but the exe read the matrix (via RS 232) switches the vacuum to the full establishment of the loop rate which is fixed at 1 Hz.

  • RS232 read series with COM1

Hello.  I am hoping there is a simple answer to a problem I have.

I had previously been using the 30 day trial of LabView to begin to create an application for reading data from an output to RS232 instrument via the serial port on my laptop.  I have this based on the base series reading and writing example and it worked great.

Now, I have purchased the software Labview base, had downloaded the software and activated.  When I open the VI that worked before, he now won't read data from the instruments. -There is nothing appears in the window of indicator text 'string of reading. '

I checked that the instrument and the connection is fine by the acquisition of data in HyperTerminal - I use the same settings for data transfer in LabVIEW.

The instrument automatically prints / sends data at specified intervals (I got this game to 1 sec).  Some commands must be written to the instrument.

I wonder if there is something with the LabView installation that requires the computer to configure ports?  The resource name of Visa in the VISA run configuration is "COM1", as it had been previously.  LabVIEW should be advised as to which means "COM1"?  No, I had to do before, so I doubt little.

I have attached the VI.  Note that it is rather messy in the deal for the reading series function structure, because I have been playing with how to manage the data.

    Thanks for any advice.

Indeed I do a repair from cd and be sure that also max is installed correctly.

    Good luck.

  • Stop character does not Change

Hello, I use vi to establish and send to a serial port. When I try and change the stop character on the front panel of 0xA (\n) to 0xD (\r) and try and scroll the vi that I find that the stop character constantly 0xA that is not what I want. What I am doing wrong.

    Hello

Please use the terminal termination char on the VISA VI set up the Serial Port:

  • TCP/IP visa write stop character

    Dear all,

I did an application with LabView where I communicate to my instrument via RS232. I use the VISA command.

    This application works OK.

Now, here's my problem, my instrument also have an ethernet interface, so I want to be able to communicate using TCP/IP socket.

The problem is that I have not found in the properties of socket TCP/IP, an equivalent to the 'Mode' end for the Scriptures of the serial property.

If I want my instrument understand that I send, I need to add a 0x0A character to the string sent. When I use the RS232 interface, this is done by "mode of end for the Scriptures.

I would like to avoid manually adding a 0x0A when I connect by Ethernet in my entire program because it is quiet big.

    You have an idea?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Best regards

The 'end' is defined in 488.2 as EOI which is actually one of the lines of control. This is why the help information are a little confusing for me. I know that with GPIB functions you can optionally add a LF or CR to the IDE and it is also something that can be set in MAX when you configure a GPIB card. According to me, the default value is not character and I looked for a VISA property that would do something similar, but did not find anything specific to change the character of 488 end. I was hoping that the stop character was the same thing but I don't think. I hope that someone with a deeper insight into the VISA will respond.

  • Constant error - "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has stopped working"

Recently, we purchased a new high-end Dell Precision Workstation from Dell and bought Adobe Acrobat Standard DC with him (Dell).

At the reception of the computer, whenever we try to open a PDF file, or do anything related to a PDF file, we will randomly get a dialog box of Windows indicating "Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has stopped working".

I've attached a screenshot of this error.

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Has Stopped Working.JPG

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ERROR INDICATES 'ACROBAT READER DC', BUT WE HAVE NOT INSTALLED CD PLAYER - ONLY ACROBAT STANDARD DC

Specifically, it can be almost ANY Acrobat associated action that triggers this error, including:

    • Opening Acrobat Standard DC
    • In Windows Explorer, when you browse a folder containing PDF files in it, and when clicked (to highlight) a PDF icon on screen
    • Doubleclicking on a PDF from Windows Explorer.
    • Saving as a PDF, or print a document to a PDF file.

I searched this error online widely and tried all the 'solutions' that I read. This is a COMMON problem, and it shows messages from the forum that Adobe does not have the problem, or is not a way to fix the problem.

I tried a recommendation - that happened to Adobe's Forum Moderator, to uninstall the program, then run

AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015.zip, which apparently removes any vestige of the previous installation.

After uninstalling, cleaning, then with the software, then reinstalling the original version that we bought (which, according to the configuration of the sysinfo file is Version 15.6.30033.133277) - ORDER of the ERROR, AND IT has WORKED FINE for 3 DAYS. Prior to this relocation, it would crash with this error about 1 times per minute (sometimes more or less frequently), but constantly, so when we arrived 3 days not a mistake, I assumed that this problem has been corrected.

Then, on 18/08/15, the errors started. I checked the Windows Update since Adobe has updated the entire program and there is no option to "Uninstall" the update (apparently either Adobe which is off, or if they replace the entire program, you cannot uninstall the update). The Version on this 'update' code was 15.006.30060. I confirmed that the program had be reinstalled via Windows Update automatically, and the date of installation of program in Control Panel was in fact 18/08/15.

So, I repeated this process, uninstall the program, the race of vacuuming, reboot, connecting the Adobe ID account, then by reinstalling the ORIGINAL version, we bought Dell "Dell digital delivery" process - to reinstall our original version - which had already solved the problem for a couple of days.

THIS TIME, IMMEDIATELY AFTER you HAVE REINSTALLED, I TURN OFF ADOBE UPDATER, thinking that it would disable future updates.

Overnight, we came into work and saw that the program was no longer updated automatically once himself again, despite the fact that the update from Adobe was extinguished, it again, updated in any case!

Of course, since it was updated, the constant errors started again, just like before!

I could repeat this process continuously, but its a lot of your time for our IT Department to keep mounting, and the error reappears just apparently every time that Adobe did an update. And speaking of which, why can't NOT UNINSTALL a "Adobe Acrobat Standard DC update" when you uninstall other issues updates to Windows for example?

My PC is Windows 7 Service Pack 1. It is 64-bit.

At this point, our options are either to get the problem fixed, or discontinue use and uninstall the program - we really need because that person publishes our CAD designs out in PDF format for documents control.

This PC is a new precision workstations Dell - straight out of the box and is running Windows 7 64-bit with Service Pack 1

PLEASE HELP ME SOLVE THIS PROBLEM! I spent several hours EACH day for a week, try to solve it, but based on the number of complaints about what I found online it seems to be a problem purely of Adobe, and replacing "Refresh" the DIFFICULTY ISN'T THE PROBLEM if it's what it was intended to do.

    Thank you

    Dave

    Hey Joe,

Thanks for the help. However, we have solved the problem. We have added very early in the directory that you are proposing, but it did not help.

One of the Tech Support guys Adobe we finally talked to suggested disabling the "Preview Pane" feature in Windows Explorer and it immediately solved the problem. Since then, we have had no problems.

This is only a workaround, however, as the preview pane was invented for a reason - to visually identify files based on the forecast of nail. We work with many, many files of CAD data, and this preview function allows to visually identify a file based on the image much faster than having to read the file name - which in our case is long and technical, CAD Solidworks file names.

Thus, we have so much need for Adobe to fix this feature so that Windows Explorer can display a preview of PDF files. Its a shame to have to put out in the world, just because of a problem with a single application (Adobe Acrobat DC!)

    Thanks for your help!

  • Reader Adobe has stopped working

    I have Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall but still get same message,

This happened last year as well, but do not remember how I fixed it.

    Can anyone help please.

Sorry for getting back on a previous post, but I don't know if you tried and if she did not.

    1. do you have the preview pane enabled in file Explorer? If so, you can temporarily disable it to see if the problem goes away? On Windows 8, in Explorer, go to the view tab, and if you press the button "Preview Pane", UN-press it. On Windows 7, upwards to the right (to the left of the help icon) there is a button "show preview pane." UN-press it.

    2. ensure that the following directories exist on your machine. If this isn't the case, please create them:

    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\ToolsSearchCacheAcro

    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\Acrobat\DC\ToolsSearchCacheRdr

The square indicates her you received an "unprintable" ASCII character  This could be an indicator of 'Start of message' series equipment.  They are often used in certain communications.  Read the manual of the device would be a good place to learn the expected format.  Has LabVIEW some built-in string functions as 'Trim Whitespace, vi' which can remove characters which are white space (tabs, spaces etc.) and this code snippet shows how to remove all nonprinting charaters in a string.
