ReadyCache with ReadyBoost?

Hello world

I read on this forum that ReadyCache can be formatted and used as an ordinary SSD,

and I realized that, in this case, ExpressCache is not functional.

Has anyone tried to use Windows ReadyBoost? Why not...

I intend to buy this ReadyCache, but I'm afraid of all the problems that I have read here with ExpressCache!

Phil

Since a few days, I work with ReadyCache/ExpressCache.

drlucky & coolreporter, you're right: I note all the improvements mentioned in this forum.  Installation was no problem and the State of the cache shows 20-25 G.

This is the best solution,
Here, I thank you for your good advice.

I just upgraded to Win8 and the ReadyCached doesn't seem to work.  My motherboard supports the Intels Rapid Storage Technology (RST), so I think to convert thie ReadyCache in an ordinary SSD.  How can I do this?  I just reformat the ReadyCache enable RAID in the BIOS and then hope for the best?

You can use the drive as a normal SSD all that you need to do is to reformat. no need for RAID really it can work in any RAID or AHCI IDE mode. Technology Intel Rapid storage technology is the SATA driver. Intel RST 11.6 is currently not took with the Expresscache software, but which is supposed to be fixed in the next software update.

  • Windows 7 with ReadyBoost stick dialog triggers installed on each start autoplay...

Unless I turn off Autoplay completely, I get the dialog to open the Flash DRIVE to view the files or use it as a backup. The stick is already installed and works like a stick of readyboost 8gig, exFAT formatted, set to performance mode rather than a removal quick and dedicated to ReadyBoost.

I have disabled Autoplay entirely as seems to be the only way to stop annoying popups of dialogue. Vista has never done that. I can not turn off Autoplay for this single stick, because it has no files on it in all but the ReadyBoost cache and Win7 will by types of files rather than readers.

I tried to reformat the stick and do the ReadyBoost settings. No luck.

    Any ideas that might help?

ADDING: I noticed the devices section in the AutoPlay settings, but my flash stick does not appear here.

Right, I found the cause of the failure and another solution.

If you have a Windows backup set up then windows always starts the dialog of AutoPlay at the start of your stick of readyboost. This, I suppose, is because he wants to show you the backup options and won't take no for an answer. At least not permanently.

Now, I put a backup that I decided to use it instead of my previous backup strategy. Poof, the problem goes away.

So use my workaround above if you are not using Windows Backup. If you decide to use backup you can disable workaround.

Microsoft, it has yet to correct the bug still exists. Can you support guys indicate if it's on the list?

  • SanDisk Extreme 64 GB readyboost compatible?

    Hey all.

I can't find the answer to this question anywhere on the net.

SanDisk 64 GB Extreme is compatible with readyboost for windows 8.1?

    Thank you!

    Hello

as far as I know, you can use any available with Windows ready boost FlashDrive. but I also know that Sandisk did not recommend this use due to the fact that the flash player will not wear in a period very short and may be you will lose data.

so I suggest you to use the drive as a normal storage device.

  • ReadyBoost steal my drive!

After using a SD card with readyboost, readyboost (.sfcache) cache file is still present on the drive.

Now the whole SD have become write-protected, and I can't seem to remove the cache file. And can't OPEN the file cache to boost my system again!

    I tried everything:

1 format (comes with an error message "the disk is write protected")
    2. find the write protection and its dissolution.
    3. no limitation is provided on disk in any menu properties

So I SHOULD be able to just delete the cache file, so that I can create a new one, but it will not simply fade away!

Formatting, deletion, what so ever does not work.  So now I'm stuck with a cache file, that I can't use or delete, which holds 3.72 GBs of total 3, 73GBs.

How can I fix the drive, so I can once again speed up my system?

Help, please! And thanks to you all,.

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

Your SD card work properly until you used for ReadyBoost?  It allowed you to write in the same slot on the same computer?  What is the brand of your SD card?  There has been some issues with some cards and some readers where the write protection is not seen properly by the card reader.  This card SD has a physical write protect switch that you have to move manually write protect it or is it strictly software?  Some SD cards that have a physical switch to set the write protection can be forced to UN-protect by putting a piece of tape on the write protection switch so that the reader sees him as write protected.

  • Windows Vista Readyboost Puzzle

Hello everyone. I have a bit of a puzzle on Windows Vista Readyboost.
I have a windows 7 PC and a friend has vista.
I tried readyboost using two USB keys, a 4 GB stick and half-full 8 GB stick vacuum.
It seems that Windows 7, I am allowed to use more than 4 GB I break in two sticks.
It will work for vista from my friend as well? Also, is it possible for me to be able to use readyboost
on a stick with capacities of 4 GB?
I've heard several rumors that you can by formatting in a different format, but
I want to assure you of one of these three methods before recommending my friend to buy something.
    1. buy two 4 GB sticks and devote two to readyboost.
2 buy 1 8 GB stick and format so I can devote to readyboost.
Generally, I would like to make the second, but I am happy to recommend 1 if necessary.
IMPORTANT: I need this works with a SD Card (Flash Memory Card).
Thanks for your help, please reply as soon as POSSIBLE.
    See you soon,.

    Hello

ReadyBoost is designed for computers that use only a small amount of physical RAM; about 512 MB - 1 GB, not for computers that use already 2-3-4 GB of RAM.

The physical RAM more you have, the less difference you will notice with ReadyBoost.

    Hey darmentrout

You must make sure that the flash player you are using is compatible

    Activating Windows ReadyBoost

To start using Windows ReadyBoost, it's easier than plugging a ReadyBoost compatible flash drive in the USB port on your Vista computer. If it's acompatible player, Vista it detects and displays a prompt asking what you would do with this drive.

read all the information on the link tutorial on configuring and using readyboost vista below

  • How can I get Windows Readyboost? (Vista Business)

I want to try Windows ReadyBoost.  The computer I have is a used laptop running Windows Vista Business.  Applications of Web site it should be preinstalled, but this isn't, probably because it is a refurbished computer.  Is it possible that I have download or get anywhere else?

    Hi Serendipitocity,

If it's a ReadyBoostdrive compatible, Vista it detects and displays a prompt asking what you would do with this drive.
The ReadyBoost service is started automatically. If you stop or disable, this Vista service will not ask whether or not you want to use this drive to speed up your computer with ReadyBoost.  If this happens to you, follow these steps to activate and start the ReadyBoost service.

    1. Click the Start button.
    2. In the search box on the Start button, type services.msc and press the Enter key.
    3. When the user access control application if you would like to continue, or provide the credentials of the administrator account to do this.
    4. Scroll down and double-click the ReadyBoost service.
      1. Change the Startup Type from the drop down menu to automatically.
      2. Then press the Start button to start the service.
      3. Press the OK button.
      4. Now, close the Services console.

The ReadyBoost service should now be started, and if you reinsert the flash drive it invites you to use the drive for ReadyBoost.

If this isn't the case, then go to the event viewer and see if there are errors in the system or application logs.

You can also use the article here and the section if ReadyBoost is working or not.

Please answer and give an update on if ReadyBoost is working for you.

    Sincerely,

  • Cannot use ReadyBoost, the flash player (caches cannot be created)

I tried to use ReadyBoost to add 1902 MB memory for my Toshiba Laptop. When I hit apply it began counting can stop and displays this message:

    Cache creation failed

Failed to create the cache. The system cannot find the specified file.

Not every flash drive can be used with ReadyBoost.  You must make sure that the flash drive is ReadyBoost compatible.

  • How to use Ready Boost, and what are the requirements for the use of portable hard drives and flash drives for use with Ready Boost?

I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate Edition and try to get Ready Boost to work on my PC using portable hard drives or flash drives. I have 2 portable hard drives (iomega 120gig, Seagate 250gig) and a 8gig sandisk cruzer flash drive. All this deterioration when you try to use the ready boost said that these discs only are not compatible or not supported. So what do I need?

Not all readers will work with ReadyBoost. There are some readers who actually will specify that they are capable of ReadyBoost.

    By WikiPedia:

    • The device should have an access time of 1ms or less.
    • The device must be capable of 2.5 MB/s for 4 KB random read speeds indicates the spread uniformly across the entire device and 1.75 MB/s write for 512 speed random writes spread uniformly across the device.

You must also put the device and let it plugged in for ReadyBoost. ReadyBoost is therefore best suited for a small thumbdrive (up to 4 GB) that greater thumbdrive or external HD that you would probably be disconnect from time to time.

Open solutions Explorer window, find your Cruzer - right-click on it and click Properties. If there is a ReadyBoost tab, you can set up - set it to dedicate this device to ReadyBoost. It will be implemented and save a file on the USB key. Click Apply and're you good to go.

A caveat which I can testify first-hand. Apparently while booting, Win 7 has trouble with some USB key - it will search the thumbdrive, the operating system, the process of starting to stall and you say: ' Missing Operating System ' - Fortunately the solution is very easy. Shut down the computer, remove the USB key, restart the computer and it will start normally. I had this happen with a 8 GB Cruzer. This seems to be a random thing, because I had the Cruzer plugged in and booted several times without encountering the error of missing operating system message. No idea why or why it is injury. Currently, I use a Kodak USB 2 gig key that seems to work very well.

  • Having previously worked now Readyboost does not activate flash on Win7 ultimate x 64

    Hi people,

I use a SanDisk cruzer micro 8GB flash drive for awhile with win7 now and I alternate between use as readyboost and storage.

But recently the readyboost option stopped on the AutoPlay list. Then, after a restart it came back, but every time I select the flash drive > properties, there is no readyboost tab to be seen.

The only changes to the system are that I added a USB printer and scanner USB. What the hell is happening?

I tried to format, reinstall SanDisk U3 launcher, I tried diskpart own all etc, etc. But nothing seems to give me the option
    to enable readyboost.

Anyone got any ideas? The really strange thing is that readyboost was working fine last time I used the flash drive with Win7.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi Khaled,

    Nope, none of that helped.

But I think that the reason for the problem of readyboost is that Win7 didn't like the fact that I had hacked an install of my Nikon Coolscan 5ED the USB and Canon LIDE35 USB devices to work under Win7 using old drivers 64-bit XP and Vista.

I have now re-installed Win7 and I can confirm the two my SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8 GB and 16 GB USB key work correctly with readyboost again.

On the plus side, I realized that I wasn't not take full advantage of my computer RAID storage. I have a controller matrix RAID Intel 10CHR and after having read up on the site intel I have now installed Win7 with a RAID0 to 3.4 volume and super fast and a volume RAID5 1 TB on a range of 5xHDD 5xHDD.

anyway thanks for the help guys.

  • ReadyBoost in Windows 8

    Hello

I have a Lenovo Tablet 2 (with Win 8 Pro) with 64GB flash drive. My problem is that the Readyboost tab does not appear, during automatic playback, or in the properties of the removable device.
    Yes, I tried the following:
-Of many readers of an inch different usb, 4bg to 32 gb
-Since there is no Readyboost service, I restarted the SuperFetch service and handed over to START - AUTOMATIC
-As administrator, I already ran sfc/scannow
-In the registry, made ' HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\rdyboost' exists
-Still in the registry, "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\EMDMgmt" has no value void
-Re-install, Re-freshing the tablet IS NOT an option!
I know that I could simply create a pagefile on thumb drives / cards SD, but I wish I had the Readyboost tab appear, pure and simple.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello

The SuperFetch works? In Services, it should show Running - automatic.
Something he can help start even if you
    START - auto value.

If USB drives do not pass the test of speed when they are plugged, then the
ReadyBoost tab will not appear. Many readers is not fast enough and
that includes many who claim they are compatible ReadyBoost.

  • Equium P200 - getting slower

I bought my laptop Equium P200 on 18 months ago and updated upgraded the memory from 1 GB to 2 GB.

Since just after Christmas, the performance of the machine has been terrible. It takes an age to start, is almost as if she gets to sleep when I try to open the mail or the internet. Is sometimes said that he has a problem with ReadyBoost and stop that, he is also prone to kill the wireless service. I am running Vista.

The question is what can I do to make the performance that it was when I received the kit?

When I look in the Task Manager (sometimes it is the only way to make the portable thte wake up) it says its using a little more than a GB of memory and the processor is not be overworked. The fan is running not bad, the drive light is on almost constantly. I have treid defraging the disk, he starts anything other than the operating system at startup.

    Help!

    Hello

It s not easy to say which is the reason why, for this, but in most cases it s associated with the software.

Have you tried to uninstall Toshiba Tempro? This causes also a long system start time and I took off because I don t need.
In addition, you should look into msconfig and disable all programs starting that you don't need. This can improve performance.
    I also disable some services that I n t need in services.msc (start > run > services.msc).
CCleaner is a good program to clean your system. You Google to find and it s freeware. CCleaner deletes all unnecessary registry entries and old files on the HARD disk, they are not necessary.
And you should look for a bit in the forum. There you can find many threads how to improve performance on Vista systems.

You use the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows?
In the worst cases, you must take the Toshiba Recovery disk to reinstall Windows.

    Welcome them
