ReadyNAS 204 + WD Live

Hello, just bought and put in place a 204 Readynas to replace an old pc I used in flow of.

Put everything in place easily and copied all my multimedia elements on the nas.

My problem seems to be continuous from the nas to my WD Live box. Movies or shows will play

great for about 50 to 60 minutes, and then picture goes black and the video stops after a shooting time.

Using of SMB and the network shares on the wd live

You could try 6.4.1 beta (https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Beta-Release/ReadyNASOS-6-4-1-T21-Beta-1/m-p/999457#U99945...

You can downgrade to 6.4.0 if it creates problems.

    Hello

I use ReadyNas 204. I have several users who use the FTP Service with their own account.

Is it possible that I can see who connected and what the user up or down-loading?

    Thank you

    Hi MrtAlways,

    Welcome to the community!

You can see who is connected to your ReadyNAS through FTP (local / remote) by checking the device logs > system or systemd-journal newspapers. Unfortunately, we will not be able to see in the newspapers, what files were consulted, downloaded and uploaded.

    I hope this helps!

  • How to reduce the time to backup my ReadyNAS 204 Server?

I use my ReadyNAS 204 Server backup storage. It takes about 10 hours to backup my ReadyNAS 204 server. There are about 400 GB of data on my server. Is it possible to shorten the time of backup?

Make sure they are both connected to the same switch or the modem. If they are not, doing so is expected to accelerate dramatically.

  • ReadyNAS 204 no connection ethernet #27311475

After restarting my readynas will get is no longer an IP address. During shutdown, it displays a 'do_exit + 890'. It will not turn off and I have to pull the plug. The green light is always on one of the network cards, and there is no seeing that lights on the map of others. I tried a factory reset and reinstall an os, but again, it gives the same error and does not get an IP address. During the factory reset, it is enclosed with a 'al_eth_set_wol + 54"error displayed. Reboot after that grew up the NAS, but no ethernet port won't work. I can not access to the NAS.

I feel that ports NETWORK card went bad, and I don't know what else to do.

    Hi datacloud.

It seems that the replacement unit has been shipped. Kindly post if you have any other questions.

  • General question about adding storage Readynas 204

I have Readynas204 on x-raid with three discs of 3 TB sends me some 5.45 TB of storage. Yesterday I added another 3 TB and readynas recognized without any problems but the storage size has not changed. I installed the new drive straight out of the box and I don't think that it should reformat because the drive status is green and the 'Format' button is grayed. The State is green, but that is to say the reconstruction of the volume. My question is I am suppsed to see the storage of 8,38 to size once the volume rebuild process is finished? or I suppsed to see increased storage size rightaway after adding the 4th disc? Thought I should ask this here first before submitting a ticket. Thank you

You should see the larger size when the rebuild is complete.

  • ReadyNAS 204 - adding 2 new drives

    Hi all

I have a RN204 (OS v6.4.2) currently with 2 x 3 TB WD red inside. Everything is good, and I have a RAID 1 of 2.72 TB volume - looks as X-RAID also.

I've now bought another 2 x 3 TB WD red. My questions are the following:

    1. in the event that their add to the volume existing 1 at a time? Adding the 2nd time the Unit completed the resynchronization or whatever after the addition of the 1st disk.

    2. should I turn off the unit before you add the new disks?

I have still no data on the NAS.

Please indicate what is my best way...

    Kind regards

    Ian

Add the drives one at a time with the unit on.

Wait for the resynchronization to complete for the first disc before adding the second.

  • ReadyCloud States ReadyNAS 204 in offline mode

    Hi all

Yesterday I started to receive a notification of the client PC ReadyCloud that my RN204 was offline. This started after I have went to the 4th weekend and tried to connect from my laptop. As you can see he recognizes the name of the NAS, but says it is offline, that it is not because I can use the Android mobile app to connect, share and download files.

If anyone has an idea of what's going on?

I should know and manage the RN204 since the new remotesite, correct?

    Kind regards!

    Brian,

    Thanks for the quick response.

The problem, it turns out that it is that the RN204 was indeed turned off due to a more heating issue, that was not because of the SIN but the ambient heat of my apartment.

Travel for a long weekend, I have disabled the thermostat to save, thus the good enough heated apartment in this southern humidity.

Now, who begs to ask why I could get the RN204 with the mobile application, but not the web browser... in any case it is a problem right now and it is brought back online.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Backup of 204 Readynas for Readynas NV +.

I want to backup my Readynas 204 to my Readynas NV +. The 204 runs firmware version 6.3.5. I can't find a valid combination of the destonation host name and share name when creating the backup task. I use:

    Host: //nas-F1-85-56/

    share: Backup/All

I think I have the right to host name. I can change it (change / / to / for example) and press "Test connection" and receive an "Unable to connect to host" message with error code 707701001. Otherwise, I get "Error connecting to the folder" with 707701020 error code. If I hit the button 'Next', however, the label of the host turns red and stays red.

I confirmed that the share "backup / all are - I can access from my computer Win10.» No user name or password should be required so I the sharing permissions so that anyone can read/write. Specifying the NV + admin login does not solve the problem.

Any ideas out there? I will load the version of the firmware 6.4.1 tonight, by any chance, this corrects the problem. The release notes do not suggest this directly, at least for a backup of Windows/NAS (Timestamp).

    Kind regards

    Peter

I installed v6.4.1 and changed the name of the host of the ip address. Rsync backup now works correctly.

  • Completely illogical cloud access

It makes no sense at all.

I have a family of 5, I want that they each have their own storage on the ReadyNAS 204 to do their homework, personal stuff, etc.

I want to be able to connect to their records via the web if they need to access these duties, show their friends what they photos/Inc. etc.

I want them to be able to view our family videos, music, photos etc.

I want that they consider is not their parents stuff.

All sounds very logical and reasonable, right? This, I imagine, is a fairly typical, bog-standard home installation.

    How can it be difficult?

Well try to give children access to remote... Wow, how many circles I just run round?

If they are configured on the system as users you cannot invite as their emails are used and you get an error. Yet you can't configure a local user without an email...

I can't invite users on the portal page readycloud that I continue to be sent, because there is no such thing as the button as shown in the help files.

Could someone please explain, in words of one syllable, how can I achieve this basic functionality without studying reams contradictory set of help files?

Thanks so much - I now need to try and push my hair back

LOL - Thanks Mods for your answers, but in the spirit of the feedback of domestic consumption, according to me, the two poles point out the problem here.

Number one: this technology is not really suitable for those who have not had the time nor the means to decrypt the technobabble. I'm not really foreign to all that because I grew up on the zx81 and amiga, but my wife and my mother-in-law can pick up an ipad and use it immediately. If you are serious about backup of their data and their precious memories of families, which serves their need continuous and the fileserver should etc then you really need to understand what more than bog-standard families want to use it for. Otherwise this technology remains only for those who live in the online tech forums

Number two: have a clearout documentation - I was running round in circles. If I bought a readynas 204 I should be able to go to this article and find only the documentation for this technology, with a guide to mannequins! Otherwise your consumers just run round in circles frustrated.

FWIW I've worked myself. I deleted the local user, then sent an invitation by e-mail. Then iset upward accounts relevant readycloud and sort the permissions in this way. I then added the local users of back in. Probably, I will refine that over time. Howeevr I also look the suggestion of vpn as soon as I have one day clear without jobs, without jobs, no family of 5 and without interruption...

Please take these suggestions in the spirit they are intended. None of this will count within a period of one hundred years.

  • How much time it take the firmware upgrade procedure?

    Hello

I ReadyNas 204 and I'm away from the SIN it free and I wanted to install the 6.5.0 version of the firmware via the admin interface... I'm not sure how much time should I take, it is already underway for 40 minutes... is this normal?

    Sorry for the dummy question!

    Thank you

Problem is solved. Sent someone back home to check and it seemed that the NAS could not obtain an IP address after you restart. Disconnect the RJ-45 and connected back solved the problem. NAS is back online, but would it be a bug in 6.5.0 or is it just with my camera? Nothing in the newspapers that I could see... just could not obtain an IP address...

the NAS drive is configured with a static IPv4 address and IPv6 is disabled. If that helps.

  • ReadyDLNA shows only 1 directory

I used to have a ReadyNAS Duo V1, which began to file my network, and finally I could no longer get it online, so I decided to get a ReadyNAS 204 instead. I installed af new 2 TB WD RED disk and restored my backup from my USB drive. I then added the RED of my Duo 2 TB WD, and everything is back running.

In the part called "Vidéos", I put 2 2 files 'Film' and 'Homevideo. My Samsung TV I can connect to the ReadyNAS and see the diretory 'Homevideo', but not 'Film' directory

Anyone have any idea why this is happening. I used to work properly on my Duo V1.

    Concerning

    Michael

    Hi lundmilo,

It's good to hear that the other shares/folders is now visible on your TV. Ensure that the function of auto scan tab ReadyDLNA is always set to 'Active' for all files recently added media will be automatically distributed via DLNA.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • btrfs_merge_bio_hook + a0 error, recovery possible?

    Hello

I have a ReadyNAS 204 with btrfs_merge_bio_hook + a0 error. After reboot I can't ssh into the box, but the web interface does not load and the data volume is not mounted.

It is possible that the distribution of volume has exceeded 85%. I didn't know that it can lead to errors. Is there a chance to find the volume, or is set to zero with my only option?

Finally I used - path access-regex to restore specific directories, and it worked fine. Seems that everything I wanted has been copied.

  • ReadyCLOUD Admin

    I have a ReadyNAS 204 6.5.1

Can this device be adminitrated mthe ReadyCloud?

When I click on the admin page, I get a message from the local administrator.

If this is the case, it works fine.

  • performance issues and connectivity at random

Hi all, I have a new rn204 I have some problems with.

    my current setup is:
    ReadyNAS 204 6.5.1
    3 x red new WD 3 to x-raid 25% free
    1 x 1 GB link to router (asus rtn66u)

the first issue I see is intermittent from speed in transfer large files. Normal performace is about 110 MB/s, which is to saturate the line but I saw at random speeds fall at 100 kb/s

2nd edition: ping the IP address of the nas are often 50%, 75%, 100% of loss on 4 pings. most of the time it's good, but sometimes not.
3rd edition: the nas has been itself reassign to an ip at random in the range 169.254.x.x 192.161.57 about once per day, I configured for a static ip address but conectivity will die (can't ping and the router can not see) every day or almost.

usually the problems disappear if I pull (good quality cat6) ethernet cable in the back and reconnect it.
Sometimes this also pushed (or worse) transfer speeds if they are slow.

    pls send help!

I suggest (my.netgear.com) support for this - you have support telephone installation free for 90 days.

I think there is a problem with the NETWORK card hardware.

  • Compatible battery for Satellite A100-204

I can't find any spare battery for my Toshiba satellite laptop A100-204. The original battery is a 4 cells Li - ion PA3451U-1BRS recycable. Whenever I look for this battery in google that I only find this for Toshiba M40.

It allmost looks the same, but I don't know if it is. Problem with my battery is empty after an hour, and I need more hours). Everything is still new well (got it last weekend), is this normal for a battery 4 cells?

I would be like a battery that lasts longer, 8 cells or higher if there are. But I don't know which are compatible and do not know how to look (in fact I do. I is not no noob and allways don't find my stuff, but it does not the way I'm looking for). Looks like the laptop is a bit rare...

Please help me find one that will fit and be sure of it:-D.

(Btw, I live in Holland, if it is important to find the battery located closer.)

    Welcomes the JK

    Hello

I studied a bit and it seems that these battery packs are compatible:
    PA3399U-2BRS (6cell)
    PA3399U-2BAS (6cell)
    PA3478U-1BRS (9cell)
    PA3478U-1BAS (9cell)
    PA3400U-1BRS (12cell)
    PA3400U-1BAS (12cell)

The time of the 6 cells and 9cell battery charger is about 4houers and 12cell batteries charging time is of about 5houers

    Hope this helps a little.
