Real pop-up microsoft or scam?

Hi, I have a laptop running Vista.  For the last 2 months I get a pop up Windows Version install 2011-2014 (c) all rights reserved.  This appears on every 1/2 hour when I'm on the laptop.  Just wondering if it is really a windows alert (Microsoft) or just a scam.  The pop-up window is just a clear blue square with the information above in the same colors.  I got a scam of a society that represents itself as Norton, I discovered that it was a company not associated with Norton and want $299.99 per year for tracking my computer against viruses and malware.  Since Vista is an older program I want to make sure that it is ligit.  As I have not received e-mail or everything I know comes from Microsoft, I want to be safe rather than sorry.  I keep the notice of closure and always asks if I want to leave this page.  Someone at - it?

Thank you very much

Sue Marzano

Does not legitimate for me.  This isn't just to show a version number, but none actually of installation or progression?  I guess the only option there is the button "OK"?

Can you post a screenshot of what you see?  Here is How to include a screenshot.

  • Microsoft Finance scam - refund Department Possible

I got three calls pressing me to access my computer to pay back me the money paid to a company of tech support for one year.

The appellant says that the work of the company to Microsoft, but it is not Microsoft. The appellant said that it is from the Department of Finance-refund Microsoft wants ordered me to go online to fill out a form to get a refund on my credit card.  His name given, even if obviously Indian, is Alan McKenzie, a FL phone nbr. 239-400-3725 he explains that already have Microsoft and thus have free technical support and should not pay using support outside tech.  I am very confused. He says Microsoft will refund my money when filling out a form online request of course my credit card information. East - another scam. Company I paid for additional technical support seems very, very ligit ad warns me such calls cold and do not entertain at all and no access to the computer.  Who is the real guy?

It's a scam. Microsoft does not call you if you ask them to call you.

  • Microsoft Phone scam

Recently we received a phone call from "Microsoft Security" and, unfortunately, the person who is answering the phone enabled the appellant to have remote access to our computers. We have 3 additional computers which are connected wireless through our router and I am not computer savvy. I don't know, but are 3 other computers at risk for this potential virus that may or may not have been downloaded on the other computer?

We changed all of our passwords to Web sites that we can think that have our credit and banking information and take the Tower of the computer that was available since to check, but is there something else to do more?

    All advice is appreciated!

    Hello

Don't forget to contact your company to Bank and credit card as the PERP may try to access
    your accounts directly.

Reinstalling Windows (or back to return to the State of out-of-the-box) would be good to do.
Back up data and be prepared to re - install programs.

This a complete scam and one that has become very common these days. . Don't think anything such a caller said, do nothing that he tells you to do and hang up on him immediately.

If you leave them in your computer, you are now at risk serious for what they could have done there (installed spyware? Identity theft? Steal the passwords?), and I highly recommend that you do the two following:

    1 reinstall Windows properly

    2. change all your passwords, especially those of the financial institutions and online stores.

  • Pop - Up Microsoft won't go away

I use windows vista on a new dell computer.  I asked the computer to ask my permission to allow the updates & programs to run.

A box opens, several times during a computing session, indicating that Microsoft is trying to run a program, csc.exe, from Microsoft Publishing, do you want the program to run.  I don't know what is the program.  If I say that it works or not, the Tin can arise & asked if the same program.

Can you tell me what csc.exe is?
Can you tell me how to stop the box from popping up?

    Thank you.

    Hi, Amanda Sage,.

Thank you for visiting Windows Vista Microsoft answers forum.

The csc.exe file uses Microsoft .net Framework, if there are problems with the .net Framework installed on the computer, then we might see an error to run the csc.exe program.

You can check if there is no Microsoft .net Framework update available in Windows Update and install it if they are available.

If the problem persists after you have installed the Microsoft .net Framework update, you can probably try to remove all previous versions of Microsoft .net Framework from the computer and then reinstall on the computer.

To remove all previous versions of Microsoft .net Framework-.net cleanup tool framework download and run it to remove ".net Framework - all Versions" and then restart the computer.

Link to download .net Framework cleanup tool:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/attachment/8904493.ashx

After reboot Windows updates to re - install all versions of the .net Framework on the computer.

The error should not appear after reinstall all the versions of the .net Framework on the computer.

Please let us know if it helps.

    Thank you and best regards,
    David

  • Phone call from Microsoft windows scam

    Hello

I received a phone call saying he was Microsoft Windows and there are system reported that my computer was full of viruses and malware, and they said that my computer was sending viruses in e-mails that they lock my email account in order to protect others. They knew my name and said they could make me a lot if I could prove that I was learned as they need my bank details to level from 4 years of life support that will continue with new computers to replace old. I stupidly gave details as he said that if I did it would install antivirous in the computer as a dinner he says my current software wasn't good.

Then he forced me to enable remote assistance and took me to the purchase for Business Package of distance page help for New World Services Inc. and forced me to enter my data I did. After completing the session, I received an email of New World Services Inc., saying that I had bought the business package and looking upward found only for four years. I then went to my Bank and the cashier told me it was a scam and I got mannaged to cancel the card before it empied my account although New World Services Inc. did take £252.00 my account and told them about the scam and that I don't want there services and do not call me.

I always get calls saying they are Microsoft Windows or they are malicious and calling about my computer with virus software and when I don't, thank you and hung up there have been moments when someone else says the exact same words as little as an hour later, well that people call regularly as now I know most of them as soon as they speak.

They installed ammyy to allow access through my firewall to send windows logs them so with selected McAfee frirwall and ammyy blocked as they had shown me the observer of events the adminastrative events and said cuircles reds are virouses and yellow triangles are malware. When I said that the red circle is when I did a forced when troubleshooting stop where I pressed the button for a few seconds.

Then I got a phone call saying could I turn on my computer as the info from my computer that has virouses and malware had said. If blocking ammyy had worked as before they were able to tell red any yellow order of events. So I then removed my computer ammyy and that they would not receive the ball more.

When after I dial to get phone calls not the last call, I get when they called and get that they do not have the number of appellants and it has afflicted me that sometimes there was as little as an hour between calls, it seems I'd barr the number of fraudsters and barr New World Services Inc. If they continue to call and if need be I have to change my phone number.

    1. contact your credit card company, if you had given the scammer, your credit card number.

-Cancel the card and ask for a replacement with different identification number.
-If you have paid the scammer with your credit card. The card has been compromised.

    2. contact your bank.
    -Change the account.
    -Change the PIN code.

    3. If you saw the crook of remote access to your computer, it is compromised.
    -Reinstall Vista
-Use another user name and password.

    4. talk to your local law enforcement... If you want to go that far.
-Ask to speak to people in the Department of wire fraud. See if something can be done about it.

    5. change the phone number.
-Scammers will call you. They will not stop.
