Reboots of loop switch

Hi all

I tried to configure 4 new switches to improve the core of the network.
We have already had two C3650-48TS in a pile in the heart of the network (nwcore2). Now I'm expanding the heart with two C3560-CX (nwcore3 and nwcore4). These switches are not stackable so I use a gigabit cable to connect their as well as two fiber 1 GB links to nwcore2. Finally, I plugged in a battery (2 x C2960-X) for nwcore3 and nwcore4 using the two gigabit links.
Covering tree configuration I use is:

nwcore2
spanning tree mode rapid pvst
spanning tree default loopguard
spanning tree logging
spanning tree extend id-system
VLAN spanning tree 1-10, 12, 14-17 priority 4096

nwcore3 and nwcore4
spanning tree mode rapid pvst
spanning tree default loopguard
spanning tree logging
spanning tree extend id-system
VLAN spanning tree 1-10, 12, 14-17 priority 16384

nwswitch32
spanning tree mode rapid pvst
spanning tree default loopguard
spanning tree logging
edge spanning tree portfast default
default spanning tree portfast edge bpduguard
spanning tree extend id-system

All the 'user' ports are configured as enabled portfast and bpduguard.

Tree covering weight blocks the connection between nwcore3 and nwcore4, and one of the links for battery nwswitch32 as you can see in the diagram.

Everything works well until about 5 hours and 50 minutes later. Then I see a huge amount of traffic, and the whole network freezes up nwcore 3 reboots itself. Then another 5 hours and 50 minutes later problem again.

Seems to be a loop, but I do not know why as rstp seems to be configured correctly, isn't? I don't see any message tree covering the newspaper, mac addresses heartbeat between the links.

What happens every 5 hours and 50 minutes? Why concrete period of time?

Can someone help me, please?

Hello

So where's the coming loop of have you tried to draw the STP evolution see what the trigger, something is the cause, be it a flaky link, wrong port etc do not think that its your config, something is most likely stop which causes a recalculation at the layer level 2 and opens upwards the redundant link you will find that at the layer level 2 it triggers

You can follow please change with this command to shorten the output of detail shows you where the last change took place since then, if you continue to follow the changes please through each switch, it can lead you to the source of the change

SH - STP retail | I ieee | occur. of | is exec

For example, the test switch shows last change stp came from po127, so I would check the channel ether get physical port then check COP then go to these switches and run the command again until I hope that you can trace the source of the number

xxxxxxxx #sh PLEASE detail | I ieee | occur. of | is exec
Number of topology changes 22 6d04h last change took place there
of Port-channel127

If this link is supposed to be the blocked link set the STP cost each side more than the actual cost, forcing them to be the redundant link - cost spanning tree 500 - this custom avoid this problem but its always good to know what links should be redundant I would not leave everything to please you can manually control some of them , which is a good idea because the problems can be easier to trace then to layer 2

in any case just one option which is how I found what caused the loops in the largest networks of layer 2 once the fact of what happens, but it can be difficult

also check the switch you must restart before restarting, which is the meeting of cpu to East it maxed out and things like that etc., memory errors can cause switches to act erratically and cause problems at the layer level 2 because they cannot get a BPDU out or successfully pass traffic

  • ACL lost after reboot of the switch

I have a Dell PowerConnect 5448. I created an acl using the CLI. I have telnet'ed in the switch and created and ACLs on port 19. This works well. He does his job and even after that I reload the switch (or the loss of power of the switch), the acl on the 19 port is never lost.

I now copy the same acl using the graphical interface, using a web browser - Dell OpenManage Switch Administrator for different ports. For example, I click on Switch - network - links ACL security. I can see the acl on port 19 I created using the cli interface. I use the web gui to copy this acl in a lot of different ports. "bind acl at interface" other ports on the switch. I save the changes. But, after I restart the switch (or lose power to the switch), these "copied" ACLs are lost. I still have the original acl I have created using the CLI, but lost the ones I copied to other ports by using the GUI.

Is this a normal behavior to lose these 'copied acl"using the web gui?

I never lose the acl that I created using the CLI, but after a loss to reboot or power, I always lose the acl that I copied using the web gui. Why? Am I missing a step?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

By clicking on apply changes is just going to implement changes to the running configuration. To save the changes so that they remain after a reboot, the running configuration must be copied to the startup configuration.

    See you soon.

  • Questions post 1.3.5: problem of Installation of App - required reboot (endless loop)

OK, so I've updated to 1.3.5 and which went well.  The problem is that I can't install ALL applications in the App Catalog.  Whenever I try to install something the installation fails and I get a message "Reboot required" to which I replied 'YES' and the device reboots (looks like a reboot of the luna, not a full reboot).  However, still impossible to install anything because I get the same message.

Anyone else seeing this?  I'm trying a full restart now (still in progress as of this post).

  • HA considers himself isolated on a reboot of the switch

    Hello

I've implemented a vSphere infrastructure (more Essentials, 3 guests, 2 LAN switches, iSCSI 2 switches) and we do testing of redundancy.

Everything works fine, except when restart us a LAN switch: each host considered himself isolated and closed its virtual machines.

Note that the problem occurs when the switch starts, not when her stockings.

I activated the beacon probe on each vSwitch and tested again. This time, only ESXi initiated a failover. But it should not happen at all.

My guess is that when the switch boots, all interfaces go up and down 3 times and there is a change in the network topology. But I can't understand why ESXi considers himself isolated when he has half of its interfaces running.

    Any idea is welcome.

  • Help! HP Envy 100 stuck in endless reset / reboot loop

My new printer Envy 100 has suddenly been unusable by getting himself stuck in endless reboot / reset loop.

He started the other day. A message appeared on the touch screen of the printer asking me if I wanted to update the software. As everything works fine to this day, I clicked No. which seemed to he left.

It restarts, goes through the motions, then as soon as the main home page appears, it turns black again and goes through all of this again and again and again...

In one of the rare moments where I managed to access the settings before it turns off again, I have established that it * is * running the most up software to date.

Anyway, I unplugged and back of left unplugged for a few days, and as soon as I plugged the in... He started and cannot be stopped.

I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8. No error message appears anywhere, it just gets stuck in this loop reset, without saying why.

I hope someone can help - I can't use the printer at all.

    Thank you

    Giles

OK, the solution came in the form of an update of the HP software. As HP offered to replace the item, a new update appeared for most HP printers, and I installed it on the computer. Check on the printer now revealed a new update here as well, so I thought that it is prudent to do both.

Since then, this problem has disappeared.

  • Cannot restart after optional updates from Microsoft. Down arrows don't work when in the loop boot selection page

Went to Microsoft Update and downloaded and installed a few optional upgrades, including one about a driver. After installation, will not restart. Arrive at the page Windows XP will then black screen and then the boot selection list. Is "glued" to the normal startup and arrows don't work for go mode without failure or any other option. He just times down, try to reboot and loop. Help!

    Hello

    Have updates you installed?

You can check the KB number for the update in the update history:

    1. Click Start, click all programs, and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    2. on the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site, click on view update history.

Step 1: Unplug the power cable, the keyboard and mouse and then reconnect it back. Now, check if you're able to boot in safe mode (by using the arrow keys) or normal mode. Send back the same.

Step 2: Alternatively, you can restore the system from the recovery console.

  • How Reboot/restart Dell Powerconnect 6224

    Hello

My company has 2 powerconnect 6224, 1 is the master and 1 slave, do I know how could restart/reboot my switch in the GUI?

Can I use the cli to restart/reboot command and what is the command line.

    Thank you

Using the CLI to recharge the battery, you must use the # reload command. You can add the number of the switch in the command reload members of chimneys. charge # 1, # reload 2.

You can also use the command console (config-battery) #initiate failover. This command forces a warm restart of the battery. The unit of backup succeeds the new management unit without clear status of material on the stack members. The original management unit restarts.

In the graphical user interface, you can reboot the switch with entering the system > general > reset. You can also start a recovery using System > stacking > NSF summary. Initiate failover will begin a warm reboot of the switch.

    Hello Evillalona,

I just looked at the issue you are seen and wanted to check with you on this subject.

When you change the settings in the switch then go to the file management section

the switch and make a copy of the running configuration to the startup configuration? I just wanted to

check and see if that would fix the problem you are experiencing. I've heard other people with

the same problem and that was the difficulty for them.

  • Lightning Calendar continues endangered

Lightning Calendar disappears after updates. Don't know if it's just the updates Thunderbird, lightning updates or both, but it often disappears and won't let me reinstall. The icon disappears. When I look into addons, it is not displayed. When I try to add, I get a message that will be enabled when you restart. When I restart, I get the same message and it is not installed. Just gets stuck in this reboot message loop.

I tried following the instructions in a number of positions to cancel the uninstall, delete profile folders and nothing works. The only thing that seems to work is to remove the calendar information, using something like Mozbackup to save my profile and reinstall Thunderbird. Gets the time some.

Windows 7 and Thunderbird 38.3. It has happened since early August 2015.

    Thanks for any help.

Don't know if this solves the problem, but I survived an update by lightning. First saved everything with MozBackup. Completely uninstalled Thunderbird. Reinstalled thunderbird in safe mode and restored profile. Update survived and keep your fingers crossed

  • Portege R700 - 3G wirless internet 'off '.

I travel a lot with my R700 laptop and use the high device mobile broadband 3G almost everyday of the week.

However, the mobile broadband has suddenly stopped working, and the Wireless Manager application reports that it is turned off. (It is not!)
I also note that the blue light that indicates a signal mobile broadband is no longer present.

I tried all the usual stuff such as a reboot, the wireless switching on and off the power, etc.
I also checked in the Device Manager, where it is reported as an Ericson FG3607gw adapter and is supposed to work correctly.

Someone at - he of the clues as to what went wrong?
I think that it may just have failed due to old age. (The laptop is five years).

Wide device is available as a spare mobile bandwidth, and it is easy to change.

(I use Windows 8 x 64 and installed the latest driver Ericson there are a few butterflies.) The BIOS is also updated.)

However, the mobile broadband has suddenly stopped working, and the Wireless Manager application reports that it is turned off. (It is not!)
I also note that the blue light that indicates a signal mobile broadband is no longer present.

If the led does not 'blue' light the 3G module is not IT.
It would be interesting to know why you are sure that the 3G module has been activated 100%.

I also checked in the Device Manager, where it is reported as an Ericson FG3607gw adapter and is supposed to work correctly.

In Device Manager, you will see the devices that are recognized by the system... but this does not mean that the module feature (i.e. WiFi or 3G) is activated...

However, I think that you should first try to reinstall the drivers.
First uninstall the driver 3G since the Device Manager...

There is also a control utility power of RF G 3 for Win 7. The '3 G RF Power Control Utility' active your 3G to start... this software is not available for Win 8 / Win 8.1 but check if you could install the version releaed for Win 7.

In any case, a newer driver of Ericson G 3 was released for Portege R930 series.
Check if you get the 3G enabled using this new version of the driver.

  • ProSafe GSM7224r cannot access via IP or series

    Hi all

    First post, so go easy.

I bought what turned out be two GSM7224r switch to a local auction house (listed as a batch). Both powered and have had my machine 'see' the two (after manually configuring the NETWORK card with an address of 169.254.100.0/24) then understood they must work...

You have their home and could not connect. Have you tried resettting (via the reset button). Both switches turns on, but the power light on each flashes (as if the device is post-ing), but never goes beyond that.

I can manually configure a connection of NIC devices to manage what should be the default settings - 169.254.100.0/24 address, but can't ping or connect to what must be the address of the default switch - 169.254.100.100. I also connected a null-modem cable to the device (settings 9600 baud, 8, 1, none, none), but this also does not connect.

Given that the two devices are showing the same behavior, my guess is that something has been done for them when be disinfected (they came out a Dept. of Govt.), and that they should now be reset to the factory settings. Question is, how can I if by pressing the reset button does not work? (FWIW, I tried a 30-30-30 don't reset on one of them yesterday - no change).

I am quite stuck, so if anyone has any ideas on how to get connectivity to these switches, I would appreciate it a lot.

    Thanks in advance.

    Last updated:

I was able to successfully flash the two switches with a more recent firmware and now both will correctly start / can be managed.

I have stunbled this guide https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/2923-what-to-do-when-my-managed-switch-does-not-boot, who has been very helpful.

A point to note is that I could not switch to save settings when I tried to 'up' default baud rate 9600 to, say 38400. I would like to configure the switch (via the partially damaged start menu, option 2, I think) and then disconnect / reconfigure hyperterminal to match these settings, but when I tried to log in again, it wouldn't connect. Reboot of the switch "reset" on the speed of 9600 baud by default. This meant that it flashes with 6-7 MB of firmware has had a reasonable period - ~3.5 hours. Something to keep in mind.

I hope that someone else might find this useful if they acquire similar switches that have been sanitized over-zeaously, and they don't know where to start.

    Hello

What you need is two tables with in the first and in the second time, downtime.

Then in a for loop switch, element of waiting on, turn off wait element.

Use autoindexing and make sure that the two arrays have the same length in the case against the shorter table will determine the final stages.
