Receives the Message "the specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted" when starting

I was working on my machine, normally the day before and I shut it down properly - everything was fine.  I'm confused as to what happened between the stopping and starting of the next day!

After you receive this message, he asks me my password for the account of one on my machine.  I've never set up a password.

I have tried rebooting several times and it gives me the same message.

I started to run diagnostics, but he appeared to get hooked on a memory test.

Any ideas on how to pass this message/fix, it would be appreciated!

Your system appears to have been related to a field.  After that, it requires a reboot to take effect.  Once you restarted so he invites to connect to the domain.

There are always local accounts on your computer that allows you to open a session, but they will have a password for all accounts if your system is connected to a domain (as it is a requirement).  To log on by using a local account, choose the name of your computer in the ' log on: "drop-down at the login prompt.  You will need to know the valid username and password for this computer.  If you or someone you know has an account in the domain that is joined to your system, allow you to logon to the domain by providing the valid domain user name and password.

Once logged on you can undo your computer from the domain (right click on the computer in the start menu, properties, advanced system settings, change the computer name, select workgroup and type workgroup name.  Click Ok.)  You will need the necessary permissions to perform this task.

If you are unable to go further, because you don't have a valid login, you can reinstall Windows.  If you format your drive when you re-install you will lose all data on this disc.  So if you need all the files from the drive, and you go this route, make a backup first!

    1. don't you make changes before the show?
    2. is the laptop connected to a domain or have you tried to connect to a domain?
    3. you have to any other user account on the laptop?

If you have any other user account on the laptop, try logging in there and see if the problem still occurs. If you are able to connect, sever the computer from the domain. Try the following steps to separate the field.
    1. right click on computer from the start menu, click Properties, click Advanced system settings, the computer name, change, select workgroup and workgroup name type.  Click Ok. You will need the necessary permissions to perform this task.

If the computer is not connected to a domain and you have not made any changes recently. Try to restore the system using Vista DVD.
To run the restore of the system using Vista DVD, try the following steps.
    1. start in Vista installation DVD.
    2. choose your language settings, and click Next.
    3. click on repair your computer.

I tried every possible user and the user/pass combo I could find and think. Every time I have enter a value in these fields and try to connect, I get the message "the specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted", if I try to log in without putting information in the field I get a msg of windows security saying that I have a user/pass to open a session.

I looked in all possible aspects of user accnts, changed the need to open a session, deleted all passes, gave full control to all parts of windows and I still get the same screen.

I need to know if there is a way around this or if the virus has changed the aperture setting of session for the repair operation? Also, if someone could tell me what measures the system and what files it loads when you browse the F8 repair op.

  • Vista the specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted

    Hello

I recently had problems with viruses etc on my computer and because of its extremely slow performance I want to re install windows vista to make it to its factory settings.  I use a laptop HP 530 which has a HP Backup and Recovery utility, which is able to reinstall windows by using the backup that is held on a separate partition.  My computer is not outside of a work group and I'm the only user on the computer with full administrator privileges.  I know also that the password of my account and mine is the only account set up on the system.
However, when you attempt to reinstall Vista, when the computer restarts at the beginning I wonder put a username and password.  I tried to leave this blank, enter the username and password for my account and nothing else I can think of.  Annoyingly. I get the error message "the specified domain does not exist or could not be contacted" every time and so I am unable to reinstall windows because I can't get past.  I reinstalled windows in the past and never encountered this problem.  As far as I know that I did not recently, major changes on the system other than the elimination of viruses etc.
If someone could help me with this, I would greatly appreciate!

    Hello

    1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    2. what anti-virus is installed on the computer?

    Follow these methods

Method 1: A Microsoft Safety scanner to make sure that the computer is free from virus infection:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Method 2:   Run the fixit in the following Microsoft article and check if it works.

Solve problems with programs that cannot be installed or uninstalled:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall/

Method 3: Run a file system check Scan (scan SFC)

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    b. type the following command and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

    Merthod 4: Check services.

Check if a service is stopped or disabled. You will need to check each service one by one. If you find any service is stopped or disabled, you must start or enable and check if the problem persists.

    Hi Dilippatel,

    A. when it last work very well?
    B. recent changes made on your computer?
    C. who is the manufacturer of your computer?

    Try the following steps.

    Step 1 : clean boot

A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.  Let us check if software is causing the problem by following the clean boot procedure.  To perform the clean boot procedure, follow the instructions in the link below.

    1: perform a clean boot
    2: enable half the services
3: determine whether the problem returns
4: enable half of the startup items
5: determine whether the problem returns
    6: solve the problem
7: reset the computer to start as usual

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

After reviewing the issue, put the computer into Normal mode. Uninstall or update the program that is causing the problem.

    Step 2:

    1. click on start.

    2. type regedit in the search box start and press to enter.

    3. navigate to the location:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E967-E325-11CE-BBBFC1-08002BE10318}

4 remove the LowerFilters value in the right panel. (NOTE: under the key, it)
are also some sub keys for example 0000, 0001. Please, double click it and remove the
    LowerFilters value.)

5 restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

    Hello

Windows Defender is an antispyware software, not an Antivirus.

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):
