The windows of origin is always on display as shown above, but I received a free upgrade to Windows XP Professional CD and installed on my computer. And under 'Information system', it shows as - Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3.

This problem started about 10 days when I used the CD of XP Professional to correct a problem. My computer is a Dell Dimension 5100 and I have two CDs that were sent to me - Dell - Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 3 and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Version 2005 with update Rollup 2.

Thanks again and I ran the "fix it" you suggested but it have no problem found to fix. Every thing works fine on my system, but Media Center won't play DVD. It will play CDs and videos on my system.

The initial problem was that I could not download the Blackberry Desktop Software - updates needed. The computer came with Windows XP Media Center Edition Home and I use Internet Explorer 8 as my default browser. I also use Mozilla Firefox as my backup browser.

Also note that you don't have NO Windows XP Media Center Edition, installed now if you upgraded to Windows XP Professional.

  • Windows Media Center won't play DVD

Windows Media Center won't play DVD. This program has played these exact DVD in September. These DVDs can be played on other devices. Error message indicates that there is a problem with the decoder, but don't tell me the code of error message. I searched other forums, but it is impossible to find an answer to this problem, except the recommendation of a codec - although I don't know how I "lost" the codec in the month. Microsoft Security Essentials have installed and up to date, if it is not a virus. Have problems in other programs with the recognition of previously readable files. Not sure if it's related, so I'll post in separate... forums but I'll give you a link if you want to. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hello cowgurlup55,

In addition to the response of Santosh, please relay if the problem occurs when you play a DVD or a single. Please also relay if the same problem occurs when you try to play the DVD with Windows Media Player.

In addition, if you have an extra DVD decoder installed, then try to update the DVD decoding software.

  • Side effects of installing windows xp service pack 3 upgrade on windows xp media center edition version 2002 service pack 2

Will there be side effects to install windows xp service pack 3 update on my windows xp media center edition version 2002 service pack 2?

Done correctly, installation of SP3 will have as a side effect, a very beneficial: Extended Support for WinXP (x 86) SP2 ends July 13, 2010. After this date, computers that run Windows XP SP2 will NOT be offered additional security updates critical (x 86), automatic updates do not work, and Windows Update Web site is not accessible until SP3 is installed.

  • Windows Media Center won't play video, but Windows Media Player will be?

I'm reading a video .avi with the xvid codec. I installed the codec earlier and it plays fine in Windows Media Player, but when I try to play in Windows Media Center, it indicates that one or more codecs are required to play this file, but they cannot be found. I know I would just watch with Windows Media Player instead of Media Center, but I want to watch it on my Media Center extension (my Xbox). I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit. Why does Windows Media Player with this codec and Windows Media Center not work? How can I solve this problem?

    -Slick05_1

    Hi Slick05_1,

Thanks for the replies on the forum.

Given that the Microsoft Vista Media Center and XBOX do not play the files suggest it would need to be a codec which solves the problem or maybe file conversion which would solve the problems you are experiencing.  Since the codecs for files is not something written by Microsoft, we do not have the information for that in our system.

What I suggest is to go to your search engine preferred and in the search line and typing "is possible to play VLC on XBOX.

    WARNING:

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

What I suggest also done an online search using your favorite search engine for "play MKV files in Vista x 64 Media Center" to find whether there may be suggestions about codecs or these codecs created by other organizations then Microsoft.

Please let us know if you are able to get this to work for you.

    Best regards

  • Windows Media Center won't add DVD files to its library which do not affect the disk C on Vista

    Hi people,

I had Media Center works well with more than 104 GB of movies in the library.

I ran out of disk space and a 1.5 TB drive was added to the system.

Once this new space has been initialized, I moved all film to him records and updated the path in Media Center to 'Look' that new folder.

Media Center can no longer see or read these films.

I deleted all the files associated with the WMP 11 app (APPDATA\Local\Microsoft\Media player to rebuild the DB but no difference.

Does anyone know how to activate the Library Media Center pull in DVD files outside the C drive?

    Thank you
    Derek

    Holy Cow,

I just found the answer in an article at www.paraesthesia.com/archive/2008/09/12/how-to-set-up-a-dvd-library-in-windows-media.aspx

The library 'Add folder' does not work in the Menu 'Settings' of Media Center.

On the other hand, it works via a right click on the window of DVD library.

IE: when you're in the Livrary DVD, right-click and choose Add movies.

This is a bug not documented in Media Center!

  • Download pirated Windows XP Media Center with the genuine key?

    Hi all

First of all, I apologize if the thread, I created is in the wrong place (Technet forums), but I got enough good help from technet on a Windows 7 problem, that I had. I've recently updated to the Genuine Windows XP Media Center to a genuine Windows 7 Professional.

I own a HP pavilion laptop came pre-loaded with XP MC (media center). Now, HP does not record with the laptop, instead, there is a recovery partition which can be transferred to DVD to create additional space on the HARD drive, I did. Unfortunately my DVD player no longer works, and I can not restore my XP to factory settings (new facility) because the HP restore software only reads from the DVD.

This XP has become bloated over time, and I want to do a new installation.

It is, I could download a pirated copy of the media center XP SP3 and use my real serial number and / or additional information to activate it?

    Thank you

No, because your key is specific to an HP facility.
