  I suggest you try this method and check if it is helpful

  Method 1:

  Start your computer in a clean boot and check what third-party software or program is at the origin of the problem. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

  How to run check and clean boot if you have the problem.

  i. Click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

  II. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.

  III. in the general tab, click Selective startup.

  IV. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.

  v. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.

  VI. click OK.

  VII. When you are prompted, click on restart.

  VIII. after the computer starts, check if the problem is resolved.

  If the problem is solved, check what third-party software or program is at the origin of the problem, referring to the link given below:

  When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

  i. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the start search box and press ENTER.

  I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1. When I click Start the small arrow and then SHUT DOWN, everything seems to go ok until it reaches STOP then the trouble began. The small circle begins to spin with CLOSING down beside it, this happens to anylength of time you want to leave. The longer I let it run as if it was about 20 minutes. Then it closes manually. The restart of the inlet screen saying it something like the computer was incorrectly closed and many options to get the PC going again. Can someone please.   Looks like you may have a virus or other malware. Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode.   ·         What is the type of disc you are having? It's a drive to upgrade or full version?

  ·         How many partitions are present on the computer?

  ·         Why would you downgrade from Windows Vista to Windows XP?

  You need demarrer start from the installation disc, choose the partition where Windows is installed (ideally the C drive). Format it and then go to the Windows XP installation.
