Recognition of my router with my computer

I am already connected to internet through my cable modem, but how to make the computer recognize my router? It maintains research for devices without result.

If you do not manually set the IP address of your computer, when you connect to the router, everything should be automatic and you will connect correctly. If it is wireless, you may need his password, but the network portion should be just login and go.

  • share my internet connection with another computer using a router

My question is if I give you my wep key to another computer in my house so that it can access the internet will be my files or no matter what content of my computer stays private, I need to share my internet connection without sharing something else?. Thanks JF

In general, it is safe to do so - just a person granting access to your network will not give them access to your files on your computer unless you are already sharing files with another computer on your network.  In this case, you want to check your sharing settings to make sure that the shared files are not available for all users of the network.  The thing I'd be worried, is whether or not the person you share with is "don't own"-no virus, malware, etc. on their computer, given that some of these programs can spread via a shared network connection.

I tried, but nam said that I need a wireless card?

  • Problem connecting Dlink - the connection with this computer still only shows "Local".

My Dlink wifi can connect to all of my other computers, with the exception of a laptop Fujitsu running Vista. Only the connection to this computer always shows "Local".

Dlink and Fujitsu point to another, and Microsoft has no viable solution. Help!

    Hi AlLohUX,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description of the problem provided, I understand that you are unable to connect to the network on the Windows vista computer. Wifi connection Dlink says local only.

You can follow the steps below and check if that helps you solve the problem.

    Method 1

Try to power cycle the router and the computer and check if it helps.

    On the PC:

Save your work and restart the machine.

On the router or the modem:

    1. Unplug the router and the modem.
    2. Wait 30 seconds.
    3. Plug in the modem and wait for it to come to the ready state.
    4. Plug in the router.

After you put cycle check the connection between the router and the computer.

    Method 2

If the steps above do not help, you can reset the TCP/IP stack. To reset access the link below and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

    (a) disable the IP helpdesk:

    (b) hold Windows key and type R, type "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press enter

    (c) scroll down to the IP assistance service, right-click on it and select Properties
In the drop-down list box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to disabled and then click 'apply'.

    (d) then click on 'Stop' to stop the service from running in the current session
Click OK to exit the dialog box

  • With the help of WRT300N Wireless Router with a USB modem (satellite)?

Hey there!  I tried to find this answer in various places online, and I saw a few things that have led me to believe that this is possible, but nothing to explain as thoroughly as I'd like.  I have a N of Linksys WRT300N wireless router.  For the next few months, new home construction we do service by cable or DSL, so we use the Cricket's broadband Internet, which connects via a USB port (Cricket is a 3G network, managed by a cell phone company).

I'm trying to understand if there is anyway that I can connect internet Cricket USB to my computer, as usual, but then connect my router to the computer somehow so that I can distribute this wireless signal?  I'm having crazy to move the thing USB from one computer to another and would really like to connect my PS3 wireless signal, thus.

Does anyone have an idea how this could be done?  If so, could you explain to me what I need to do quite exactly?  I am running Windows Vista on this computer.  Thank you very much in advance for your help.  You're going to be spare me months with a value of pulling my hair out, believe me.

Yes you can do it, USB Modem not connecting to the computer, the computer must be connected to the Internet Port of the router and then it will give a Wi - Fi connection and...

To do this, you need to enable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)...

  • When I try to connect with my wireless laptop will connect only to Local access. If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    VIsta - Local access only

    HI -.
I recently moved.   I use the same router from my old apartment and I had no problem connection in the past.   Since I moved I have a new Time Warner modem (Cisco) and the modem works fine.

The router also works very well I'm able to connect with my iPhone and IPad without any problem.

But when I try to connect with my wireless laptop, it will only connect to Local access.    If I connect the laptop to the router with the ethernet cable, it works very well.

    It's a Dell Studio 15 with Vista.

The computer is able to connect to wifi to other places without any problem, but for some reason that I can't connect home.   I tried to reset the modem and the router several times, but that did not help.   I tried the option repair & diagnose several times but it doesn't work.

I tried to look for other solutions online and tried to disable IPv6, and while it helped some and I was able to connect wireless, the computer ran so slowly that it didn't seem like a good solution.

This has been very frustrating.   Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion.

  • Internet problems with my computer!

Hi, my name is Jessica. I have no where else to go. I need your help so baaad. I scanned my computer if the material has been screwing up, but the computer says that there is a signature in an IP error. I don't know what else to do! Help, please. If you have more specific information to solve my problem, feel free to ask!

    -Thank you. :)

    Hello

I made an assumption that there is a wireless connection.

If not, please help us to mitigate the "guessing game" factor in the provision of aid and give the relevant details of your computer systems.

    ------------------------

There is an inherent Catch22 to attempt to repair a computer wireless through wireless. Given that the without wire is not connected to the source, there is no interaction between the wireless source and the Wireless Client and no frame of reference to find what works and what does not.

As a first step, I will temporarily move the computer to a place close to the wireless router and plug with a wire.

When he works with a wire, switch Off the Wireless Security in the router, disconnect the wire and try to make wireless work. This must be done when the computer is always close to the wireless router to compensate for the weak, and or blocked the signal that could be part of the problem in the new suite spot work.

    In the computer itself.

Most laptops have a physical switch for the wireless card. Read the manual of the computer and make sure that the wireless adapter is on.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Make sure that if there is Wireless Utility a utility vendor is not running with the native Windows wireless utility.

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Above everything is OK and it connects to the wireless router. Log in from any computer which is, or can be connected to the router with a wire wireless, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless streaming is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

When the work turns on the Wireless security.

Note * people sometimes make mistakes in writing and retype the password for security.

Another way is to copy in the menu of the router and then paste it when asked of the wireless card.

  • Dell V313 printer cannot communicate with the computer

When I try to print from my Acer Aspire Windows 7 on my dell v313, I get the message "communication not available - the printer cannot communicate with the computer. It's already happened, but when I restarted the computer it would print. Now, it won't. I replaced the USB cable and downloaded the last Cabinet V313 - and the software. Ink cartridges are filled. I am holder of a horse's hoof and a 4 leaf clover; but nothing works. What can I try now? Thanks for any help,

    Mike

    Mike,

You can try to disable the ToolTips of printers. If the printer is wireless, try channel 11 in your wireless router. You can also try to remove computers printer scan list and then restart the computer and see if it prints.

Start, Control Panel, devices and printer, your printer, printing preferences, advanced, more control options. Tell him to never show. The problem with this setting is that you can not tell if you are weak of ink, printer jams, etc..

  • How to find the IP address of the router from my computer in Windows 7?

What is the best way to find the IP address of the router from my computer in Windows 7? I know not how to make using the start > cmd > ipconfig, but is there a way to do it with just the mouse?

Right click on the WiFi icon or-> LAN in the system tray click on open network and sharing Center-> click on "Wireless network connection"--> details click-> see item highlighted on the screenshot:

  • How can I register in my system, my desktop PC with my computer name?

During the implementation of my desktop PC, I classified as a workgroup computer, but I only have a single PC.  In devices and printers, I have an icon for a laptop (with a yellow exclamation point) and the name of my computer on this subject.   In properties, this icon, under the Hardware tab is listed (with a yellow exclamation point) controller (USB) universal serial bus.  In the device under other devices Manager, I have a driver (with a yellow exclamation mark) on (USB) universal serial bus controller.

Network, there is an icon for a laptop with my name of the computer on this subject.  It is also included in the network, devices, an icon with my name of the computer on this subject.  My desktop PC is not a media device.   I would like to delete the icon of the laptop and the Media Device with my name of the computer on and make sure that my desktop PC is registered in the system with my computer name.  My PC is not a PC network; I do not have a router.  Now my desktop PC doesn't have my name on the computer.

I don't remember very well, but I could have a visitor with his work cell phone, trying to access his computer of the company set up by plugging in via USB in my computer.  It didn't work, so I gave the thought is no longer.

I do not end up ignoring the notebook icon in devices and printers.

I thought that the computer was not registered as my desktop PC from the laptop icon and had all two "other devices" in device to the (USB) universal serial bus controller Manager.  Computer has already listed in Manager devices, but with different drivers.

I didn't do another post "no drivers for other devices" and listed the hardware ID.  I got a response and downloaded the driver.  When I did two exclamations disappeared, "other device" was no longer listed in Device Manager.
