Recommendation for external monitor for 2009 17 "MBP

Hi all

I would like to get an external monitor for the time where a 17 "display is not quite big enough, but is there a limit on the size I can go? And with a 2009 MBP, would be a 4 k screen work?

The specifications of my MBP is: 17-inch, early 2009, processor Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB graphics card

I'm happy to find an opportunity that A1082 Apple display 23 ", but maybe I would go a little bigger. Used Apple screens are starting to become a bit expensive when there are more than 23 ", so I consider sacrificing the aesthetics of the product and get a monitor not Apple to about 27"... could anyone recommend any specific model?

I will mostly use the screen for the design work (InDesign) and surf, so that I don't do high range editing, I'd still like the colors to be accurate enough.

Any help is appreciated!

Markos

the resolution maximum support from outside is 2560 by 1600, the resolution of the movie screen 30 inch apple.

It has HDMI on the left hand side port and a VGA port next to the vent. My suggestion: buy a monitor that has two ports. Depending on your budget and your favorite brand, the following link shows a few of them:

  • I want to get caught in charge double external monitor for my MBP with Win7 on Fusion, what should I buy?

Forgive me if this is clear somewhere in the communities.  I have indeed searched it in addition to Google and I can't find a clear answer.

I have a 15 "MacBook Pro (aluminum Unibody 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w / 4 GB RAM with backlit keyboard black) running VMware Fusion 3.1 and Windows 7 x 64 as a guest in Unity Mode operating system.  I have two screens beautiful external LCD on my desk.  I want to be able to run both of them with this software/hardware configuration.  To do this, I bought a USB to DVI DisplayLink solution by Diamond (as the MBP had only a single mini-DisplayPort port) in order to be able to control the 2nd external monitor.

I noticed that when I added the USB to DVI for mixing with the latest DisplayLink drivers (it is the time where I was running VMware Fusion 3.0), it works, but not very reliable and it would break my Win7 x 64 VM or cause other weird problems too much.  I have had no other problems with this configuration in addition to VMware fusion.  As long as I wasn't trying to run a virtual machine with the merger, the USB to DVI external worked very well.   However, given the choice to have a 2nd external monitor or VM support, I had no other choice than to loop and choose VMware on the adapter.  Well, I took it on the mixture so I went back to the adapter.

I got the notice that VMware Fusion 3.1 is available with tons of bugs and it whet my appetite again for the glory of two external monitors, so I upgraded to it yesterday.

Is someone can you please tell me exactly what I need to buy to get the reliable support of two external monitors in this environment?

And please don't say no double or Triple head to go by Matrox.  I don't mean for this set of compromise.

Besides solutions Matrox, my only choice seems to be somehow supporting this additional monitor via Ethernet, Firewire or USB.  I want to know what are sanctioned for this solutions are supported by VMware (i.e. you tell me what to buy...) I'll buy it... and it works... works very well).

    Thanks a bunch,

Almost all laptops, dual support external monitor and are VERY easy to configure.

I support Mac and PC systems.  It's a complete joke that anyone would try to convince me that Mac has better bi-ecrans support.

To the extent where what is the best solution for businesses.  The need to install a virtual Mac on a PC machine was never even considered because it is not necessary in the world of business.  I can't say that on Mac.

I'm the guy who went to take care of both in a business environment.  Your brilliant mac sounds really cool, but it is a major pain in my butt and should be confined to a domestic environment.

Screwed as far as home users, my Mac friends never call me on the East of their computer from viruses.  I like this very well on Mac at home.  But which probably has more to do with the fact that it is not profitable to write a virus for the Mac platform.

  • External monitor for the retina

I need a large external screen which is the retina or better. I used to have the apple cinema display, but it's not retina. I use a new macbook from the retina and I want the monitor external to also be the retina or higher. Any recommendations would be great.

Also, how can I know if she will be so strong that the retina, 4 means k it will be retina? Or 5 k, etc.?

    Thank you

Retina is just a watchword for the resolution capability of the GPU of the machine. Find out what the maximum resolution that your model is able to display on an external monitor. Then look for screens that display this resolution. Maybe it's 4K or 5K. Later 15 "MBP can display: up to 3840 x 2160 pixels (Iris Pro) up to 5120 2880 (Radeon M370X R9). The model 13 "poster: up to 3840 x 2160 pixels on up to two external displays. Both display up to 4K via HDMI to a HDMI compatible device.

  • Satellite C650 - external monitor turns on for about 2 seconds

    Hey

I want to connect a digital diamond (I think Acer) external moniter for my Toshiba Satalite C650 and it lights up for about 2 seconds then black flshes again. I tried to lower the resolution and 12 pins cable is tight it flashes just black. He never does on my TV...

Guys do you have an idea what could be wrong?

    Hello

What cable connection/use exactly to connect the external monitor?

I would recommend the first connection cable before you turn on both devices. Then turn on the external monitor first, and then for laptop. Normally it automatically detects the external display. If this isn't the case, you can use the FN + F5 key combination to move from a monitor.

If it works, it's Mac compatible.  Connect it vIa DVD or HDMI for best results.  No software is required.

  • Impossible to get good resolution on external monitor for laptop

I am struggling with this situation of resolution of external monitor for the past two weeks. Since the research I did, it is a very common question; However, I did find a solution. I tried all the solutions have not been successful. I hope someone here can help you.

    Asus K50IJ laptop

    Win 7 Home Premium 64 - Bit SP1

    Intel Core2Duo T6600

    4 GB OF RAM

Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Monitor is Samsung SC750_S24C750P connected with VGA cable (laptop doesn't have a HDMI output)

I reinstalled the drivers for the graphics card; current driver is 8.15.10.2302 of 11/02/2011

I reinstalled the drivers for the monitor; current driver is 1.0.0.0 11 13, 2012

Monitor is currently appearing as "HDMI" in the Device Manager; I have chosen "Analogue" and had the same results. Now & then I see "Generic PnP monitor" in the Device Manager. whenever I see it I uninstall it.

Bottom line is this: settings keep bouncing everywhere. On rare occasions, I saw the picture I want on the external monitor; When I close the lid on my computer (that's why I bought the external monitor - so I can get a bigger picture, not two), the resolution is 1024 x 768. When I disconnect the external monitor, I get the correct image and ratio 16:9 (1366 x 768) on my laptop screen. When I connect the external monitor I have two choices for the resolution: 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

I went to the Intel graphics properties tool and set a resolution to 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz - 32 bit - proposed by Samsung for their monitor. Result 7 choices of resolution, no '' recommended '' and the higher tag 1366 x 768. I can live with 1280 x 720; When I choose this resolution or anything higher, the laptop screen is superb, but the image on the external monitor covers 1/4 of the screen - the rest is black. Reset the external monitor doesn't change anything.  Computer restarting does not help. Monitor disconnect/reconnect does not help. I tried this routine dozens of times.

I really need to use the external monitor, and I need the image proportional. Is there a way to do this?

    Separated from: http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/windows_7-hardware/cant-get-right-resolution-on-external-monitor-for/f3680ff9-684c-428E-a6ac-74fe4171a845

    Hi, thanks for the response.

I saw this on the Intel Web site so I tried mode extended without change.

If I had 1366 x 768 on both screens, I would have been delighted - instead, I had two choices on my external monitor: 4:3, covering the entire screen with a distorted image, or 16:9 which covers about 40% of the screen.

The most likely explanation I can think of is that the external monitor 4:3, I used in the past has left a kind of preference file in my computer which could not be changed, so he kept coming back to 4:3 instead of 16:9. I thought the problem might be the VGA - VGA cable, but this does not explain why I was unable to cover the entire screen on my external monitor with something other than a distorted picture.

Using the past because I was forced to buy a new laptop. As soon as I plugged on the external monitor, everything was perfect.

    Thanks again for your help.

I currently have a Targus docking station and it works for my work which is a lenovo but does not work for the Mac Book laptop. Hi helenmarnat,

I understand that you are looking for an external monitor to your MacBook Air.  Here's what we have available:

    Monitor Apple Thunderbolt Display

    The ultimate docking station.

With a single cable, connect any Mac compatible Thunderbolt and get 27 inches of screen space high-resolution, high-quality audio, a FaceTime HD camera, ports FireWire 800 and Gigabit Ethernet - and a Thunderbolt port allows to chain additional high-performance devices such as hard drives and video capture devices.

  • Unable to set the resolution of the screen for an external monitor

I'm trying to set up an external monitor to Asus to mirror my iMac 27 "new using a HDMI > Lightening connection, but using the monitor preferences, requires both screens at the same resolution. The Asus monitor is smaller, I'm looking for mirror to a proper resolution to the screen (that I can actually read!). From what I gleaned on the web until now, so it should be easy - and now I think it has to do with the HDMI connection on the monitor. Any advice would be much appreciated!

You will need to disable mirroring.

  • External monitor for the 13 mid-2014' rMBP

    Hello

I'm looking for an external monitor for my rMBP mid-2014 13 "resembling a Retina display (I'm only looking for quality of retina monitors). Not extremely concerned about 4K because my Mac cannot run most 4K poster but of course wouldn't mind it if it can work properly. I have the model of i5 2.8 Ghz with Intel Iris 1536 MB.  Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello ElEmirati,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that you are in the market for some external displays.  Your MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, mi 2014) can support the following resolution on an external monitor:

    • Dual display and copy video: support simultaneous native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 x 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors

Try to solve this sequel to this workaround:

  • Dynadock: set up for external monitors only in Windows XP

We have a number of different laptops Toshiba dynadock DVI running Windows XP SP3 and dynadock 2.3 c with the video driver 4.5.14974.0.

They all work very well, exactly as planned, except that the majority of users want to use with the external monitor only.

We are currently their execution in mirror mode because the split screen extended mode is not necessary which requires the external monitor at the same resolution as the screen internal.

All laptops have screens internal standard WXGA 1280 x 800, but find an external 19 "monitor that supports this resolution is a real problem with most being WXGA + 1440 x 900.

I found a 22 "monitor is going to do, but the image is not very strong, probably because its native resolution is WSXGA + 1680 x 1050 and are also just a little more expensive.

I found a document on the Web from Toshiba site we (Document ID: 98082393) that details how to display only the external monitor, probably with the help of whatever the external monitor can manage the resolution which would be perfect, except that it only works with Windows Vista.

If someone has found a way to do this with Windows XP, I tried following the instructions of Vista, but I am unable to set the external monitor as primary display? Toshiba are working on a new video driver that will support this configuration?

Sounds a little crazy for me because this is how the majority of the standard docking stations is used and many companies also have a significant deployment aspect 4:3 or 5:4 screens that obviously don't work well with laptops widescreen in mirror mode.

Our users are currently using XGA 1024 x 768 in mirror mode which, on a big screen is stretched and defeats the main reason for having a large screen. We are the only ones having this problem or are we missing something obvious?

Thanks to anyone with a useful suggestion.

  • Need for external monitor for Portege R500

The screen on the R500 (PPR50E-01301TEN) is fine for a use for an hour or two on the go, but if I use it constantly throughout the day, I get a bad neck and headache (perhaps the angle that you have to look as far as its small size). So I want to get the external monitors for her at work and at home. Home preference would be an LCD TV.

The problem is Windows tells me that the screen resolutions supported for the external monitor is 1280 x 768, 1920 x 1080 and 1920 x 1200. Linux wants to offer me 1280 x 800 or below, although I might be able to fix this with a little tweaking. Assuming that Windows is right, does anyone know of a 18-21 "wide screen monitor or a TV with one of the resolutions supported as its native resolution, or even a resolution supported? I can't find something.

It should probably be 1920x1xxx, 1280 x 768 will be quite grainy close up on a 18 "+ monitor." Why aren't all common intermediate resolutions on the monitors (1440 x 900 or 1680 x 1050) supported? If he can do 1920x1xxx, he should be able to make them.

As much as I know duplicator can not improve things. This external device just flow through the signal from the computer laptop itself.

What resolution do you need for your monitor?

  • Satellite L650 - HDMI connection for external monitor

I've linked the laptop to my Sony LCD TV via HDMI, no problem. I have a (Acer, 24-inch) LCD monitor that has a HDMI port also. I used it to play ps3 and xbox360 via HDMI connection, no problem. I have two lines HDMI 1.3. The two lines are working without any problems.

However, when I connect my laptop to my LCD Acer just external LCD monitor can t work properly. I can barely see what is display on the monitor, very snowy. It's hard to describe. I took a photo but don't know where to download it here.

I tried both HDMI lines, but both failed. I tried to change a few settings in the laptop, but nothing makes any difference. I'm looking for the driver for video card on the Web from Toshiba website and found that my current license is updated.

I'm not a tech geek, but I think that I don't know something on the computer. Am I missing something here?

Guys (and girls), please throw in an idea (tooth tell me to check if the connection is good, I don't already).
    Thank you

    Hey,.

If you connect your laptop to external monitor and press the FN + F5 key combination what happens exactly? Pressing the FN + F5 key combination shows different options and you should test with external monitor only (not the clone image). If you work on external monitor doesn't do this work?

In addition, you must connect the devices before starting their.

Also, take a look in the BIOS and try to load the default settings. Make sure that that the HDMI cable is connected before starting Windows and check the status again.

By the way: what operating system are you using exactly?
