Recommendattion of virus protection software

Is there a single anti-virus program which gives excellent, active protection against all threats, or
you have to have two different programs with one in the background?

Hello

Microsoft don't recommend any third-party software. However, try to use Microsoft Security Essentials.

In your opinion, what is the more compatible for HP Desktop virus protection software?

For most of us, MSE provides adequate protection against viruses and spyware.

There certainly uses less system resources than McAfee or Norton, and which translates a current faster PC.

I'll take the risk of slight MSE is not as good as McAfee or Norton for the best performance of all the days of the week.

  • What virus protection software is recommended for the Mac?

I remember reading something in the help of malware from reading Apple where they recommend to use an antivirus program on the Mac.  Are there suggestions for specific providers?  Thank you.

None. There is no virus affecting OS X in the wild. Software AV on a Mac is a complete waste and will generally more problems that it could possibly solve.

Malware is a different animal entirely and would not be stopped by the AV software

  • I would like to know what is the best virus protection software

    original title: Best Antivirus.

    Hello.

I would like to know what is the best antivirus. specification as below.

load the use of fast, low memory, detection, quick update and quick scan. I want to know because I install Norton Antivirus 2010. But my father said to my office workload and slow computer.

Is - this Bit Defender, Norton, Avast, Avira, ESET Nod or what?

I don't care about the price.

    Hello

Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leave the file system, Web,.
Operational network (Script and behavior are also recommended in Ver 6 +).

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
    right of IE)

Two versions of Avast are available 6.x and 4.8 x

Avast - home - free - 6.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
    disabled - click OK
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
    Finish those you don't use).
    http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

  • Impossible to remove or uninstall anti-virus administrator software

I tried to remove this virus protection software, but I keep getting these messages who turns essentially the same: "Confirmation of necessary administrator" or "access denied user administrator account needs. Despite everything, I am the registered owner, the user only and open a session as an administrator. but, apparently, cannot remove this software at will.  This issue is seriously interrupt my work schedule by blocking programs opens once the downloads have reached the end. I know that these programs are safe and harmless but this "free antivirus software" is controlling my computer and now it seems that I am stuck. I want this program off my computer now, so any help will be most appreciated!

Thanks for your response and I apologize for not naming software, but I thought that we were warned not not provide company names, etc.  This program is of Avast, referred to as Avast anti-virus program. Let me clarify that I have not installed this software. It was installed by an outfit without my authorization, which announced themselves as a computer repair shop. I took my laptop to this company for an estimate of cost to repair a hardware problem with the speakers. As you can imagine it's a story for another day.

    Respectfully,.

Avast provide a removal tool to remove the program if you have problems using other uninstall methods:

"Uninstall our software with the help of avastclear"

And here's how to start safe mode to run the downloaded removal tool.

  • The latest version of Firefox is not compatible with my McAfee software and now I have no virus protection. How can I go back to a previous version of Firefox?

When the latest version of Firefox has been installed it gave me a message that the McAfee software was not compatible and so I have more protection against viruses. She added that when it became compatible I would be informed. I cannot afford to be without my virus protection and want to revert to an earlier version of Firefox.

I hope that the problem is that Firefox 5 is not compatible with some of the additional modules of McAfee. It will be rather worrying if she has a problem with McAfee security programs themselves. Please specify exactly what software and the version that you have problems with.

  • I have Windows Vista and you want to know, if I switch to Windows 7, will I lose my files, programs, settings and virus protection?

Currently I have Windows vista. I want to upgrade to windows 7. I would lose my files, programs, settings, and virus protection

    original title: upgrade

If you do an in place upgrade your files and programs will remain on the computer. If you perform a custom installation, you will need to back up your files and reinstall your programs.

    Installation - 'upgrade' means what?
Upgrade means that you can install Windows 7 simply by inserting the Windows 7 upgrade software in the DVD drive of your PC and follow the instructions on the screen. While you are not required to backup and reinstall your files, or reinstall your programs, it is a very good idea to back up your files and settings before you start any upgrade to the software. Get more information on the software updates and best practices .

Installation - what does "Custom (Clean)" Mean?
A custom (clean) installation clears the contents of the hard drive of your PC. Your files, settings, and programs will not be transferred to Windows 7. This means that to install Windows 7, you must:

    • Back up any files and settings you want to keep

    • Install Windows 7

    • Reinstall all your files

    • Reinstall all the programs you want to use.

These four steps take time, skills, techniques and Windows Easy Transfer can help. However, if you are not comfortable with this process, please consider having the installation carried out by a local service provider.

If you are running Windows Vista , in some cases you can proceed directly to Windows 7, and in other cases, you must perform a custom installation. The following table shows what editions of Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 7.

    Windows Vista Home Basic

Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Ultimate

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium
