  I have re-installed Win7 last week, after a backup completes on an external drive.

  I have re-installed LR5 and now I want to recover the libraries/photos in this backup.  After a few attempts, it is clear, I have no idea what to do.

  Here is what I have (copied to a folder on my desk):

  Move the photos to the same exact location that they were before your re-installed Win7

  Move the .lrcat files two to HDD internal (assuming that is where you want your catalogs to be) and then double-click on your computer on them.

  You can not.  Restore the library on the desktop, open it with Photos, locate the pictures you need to restore, export to desktop, open your library of work, import photos and, finally, to remove the library restored to office.

  Recently, I accidentally deleted photos of my camera and later permanently erased from the recently deleted folder and forget they were there. I only have backups iCloud. I don't have any iTunes ones. I tried the deletion and restoration of two backups. A for a few days and the other nearly two weeks ago.   If you have been synchronized with iCloud, using a computer, go to iCloud.com/Photos to see if they are there, but I doubt they will. Looks like they are gone for good.

  Not sure where you got the option "change of name".

  To rename a picture in Microsoft Office Picture Manager
  you just click with the right button on the thumbnail and choose Rename
  in the menu. Rename the pane opens on the right
  of the screen and enter your new name / OK.

  The Remove option is just above to rename... Is it possible

  Thanks for answer and sorry for not noticing that you have had so far.  Actually, I solved my problem by editing the registry and by associating file types .jpg and .jpeg image.  I think that the Viewer Windows Live Photo or other software that I installed messed up file associations and caused Media Center does not recognize files .jpg and .jpeg as an addition to the type library.

  I changed the settings in the registry as follows:

  1. under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, navigate to the key named .jpeg
  2 change the (default) string value so that the data field is "jpegfile" (without the "")
  3. Add a new string value named: 'Content Type' and together the data field "image/JPEG" (once again without the "")
  4. Add a new string value named: "Type perceived" and together the data in the field in 'image '.

  Do the same steps above for the key under HHKEY_CLASSES_ROOT .jpg

  I don't remember if I needed to restart the computer or not for the changes to take effect.  I solved this by trial and error because I remembered having to add the same entry in the Media Center in Vista type to get files .mp4 playing in the video library.
