Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
See you soon.

'Hacked' - I doubt that your system has been infected or the data has been lost as a result of user actions
And if it happened 7 months ago its far too late to do something now.

We erased all the content on a backup external seagate more desktop drive because we BONE-headedly failed eject the drive, that doesn't not want to clear beforehand.
What is the best way to recover these files, if there is one. Oh!
No if you have reused the player and "crushed" of your files. Otherwise, see below:
General file recovery
If you stop using the drive it is possible to recover files that have not been overwritten by using the recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, recovering files or TechTool Prodeleted. Each of the previous ones come on a bootable CD for use without risk to write more data to the disc. Two free alternatives are disk drill and Cisdem DataRecovery. Recovery software generally provides trial versions which allows you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond that, or if the drive has completely failed, you must send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.
The hard drive remains the most widely used and the data are recorded, the greater the chance that your deleted files will be overwritten.

How to recover lost files .dll
It would seem that a virus I had a few weeks ago destroyed several .dll files on my sytem and it is now affecting my game in a severe way with minced being terrible and its out of sync. is it possible to recover these files without even knowing those lacking? I tried to reinstall xp but I get a message saying that my version of xp is outdated, most likely due to updates of post installation. Please keep in mind that I'm NOT a computer Wizard and would appreciate any help that could solve this problem without resorting to a total wipe and reinstall.
Thank you kindly.
What makes you think of dll files are missing?
If you get an error message, post completely, without paraphrasing.
What makes you think that your system is now free of malware?
If the problem is related to its just, have you downloaded and installed the current driver (and any other necessary software) for your sound card?
Finally, if you have a real CD Windows XP with which you have tried to do a repair install (which, if it works properly, will not overwrite your applications and data) and you have an error message indicating that your current installation is newer than the version on the installation CD, the solution must integrate the necessary service pack and create an installation with the correct service pack CD.
There are many websites with instructions for creating a Windows XP sp3 slipstreamed CD. Don't forget that sp3 must be slipstreamed by using a Windows XP sp1, sp1a, or sp2 CD - not a XP original or "gold".

I was sorting out my folder and deleting items when there is a notice saying something of if this file is deleted something would happen and I pressed ok assuming that it just meant I have remove this folder. However, when I clicked ok more than half of my subfolders that had nothing to do with what I was initially missing deletion which contain more than 1000 pictures. The files are not in my recycling bin. Some of them were in my recent folder, but when I click on it an error saying that the computer is unable to locate it. I don't have a return to the top. Is it possible to recover these files? Help, please!

Unfortunately, even if it's too late now, the best thing is to always have a backup.
Good luck, it could be useful.

Restoring to factory settings formats the disc, and which erases
everything what he. You probably get something new, but you can
try to do a search on the web for a recovery program that unformats the reader
like here: http://www.easeus.com/resource/unformat.htmIf you unformat the drive successfully and can recover lost files
back, the first thing you should do copy on an external
(CD, DVD, USB sticks, external hard drives, etc.).
Two other points/questions:1. why restore you to the factory settings? This is usually the worst
approach to solve a problem, there's a lot of extra long hard
work and often leads to problems of its own (as it did here).2. I assume you have no backup on external media from your
photos of important files etc. In this case. you played with
the fire. You can read this article on the backup that I wrote:

After running PC Refresh on Windows 8 lost files
* Original title: critical lost files after update PC on Windows 8 - not in the Windows.old folder, so what is the best way to get back them?
Initially, I had a problem whenever my phone wanted to do an update. It takes 30 minutes for the update and then I would get an error saying updates could not be performed changes recovery. I called the helpline PC came with my computer. After a few here to get the update to work, they told me that they will have to perform a PC Refresh. I was told that I would not lose any of my personal files, photos, docs, etc... I did it. At first, it seemed everything was ok except when I went to access some files that belong to a photo software I use.
I knew that my software 'Panstoria' would have been lost, but I wasn't expecting the files I have access through it to lose. When I reloaded Panstoria I couldn't find the files I acceding known for 'My leap' software, which file name is manifest.vaultx. This software allows me to label photos, file in categories, journal etc. Again, I didn't know all this has been a problem because the software States very clearly that all of your photos and other are not saved in the software but rather your documents... then I thought about updating PC would be ok... turns out NOT. I can't find "repository"My"in the documents. I have even returned to the folder Windows.old and they cannot find.
My questions are these: what is the best way to try to recover the files? If I do a system restore which will bring back all the documents as they were before the update? A system restore would return all users that may have been changed as well? I'm just sick to my stomach that I can't find the file because it is the last 20 years of pictures and videos of my family and if I can't get these back I lost all my memories :-(
Hello
Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.According to the description of the problem, I understand that, after the system update, you've lost critical files.
I imagine how it could be frustrating when losing essential data from the computer.
To better understand this issue, I would like to know the following information:1. What is the brand and model of the computer?2 do you have him comes preinstalled with Windows 8 computer or you have upgraded the Windows 8 of the older operating system such as Windows 7?3. you receive an error message when you try to access these files from the Panstoria software?4. where these files saved locally on the computer, as well as my safe?5 did you cooling system or the system restore?First of all, I would like to inform you that if you this execution of a cooling system, would not create a Windows.old folder.
The Windows.Old folder is generated when you perform a customized Windows installation. The files that were used in the earlier version of Windows are stored in the Windows.Old folder.
Perform the refresh of the system: Applications that you have installed Web sites and DVD is deleted. The applications provided with your PC and applications that you have installed in the Windows store will be resettled. Windows puts a list of apps removed on your desktop after you refresh your PC.Follow the article below to know what are the powerful effects of cooling system.Refer to: refresh your PC without your filesYou can refresh your PC without delete all of your personal files or change your settings.I suggest you look for missing files on your computer, by referring to the article below.Search for files in file Explorer
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/search-file-Explorer
Note: You can search for files in file Explorer using the search box next to the address bar in top right. (Note that my computer has been renamed to this PC in the file Explorer in Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1).If you are unable to recover the missing files, I suggest you check once in the trash.
If you are able to find the files in the trash, I suggest you to restore files from the Recycle Bin.My safe also stores the image files.Refer to WHAT PEOPLE ON MY safe STORE:If you are not able to find the files that you have lost the computer I suggest you to contact my Vault to recover lost files. My contact VaultHope this information helps, please respond with the requested information and the status of the issue.
