  HI - first thing I did when I got my thinkpad is a clean install of w7, but then I thought about it and restored the recovery partition, conviniently located at the end of the training, in order to create a backup dvd factory. Thing is, when I click the autorun (lenovoqdrive.exe) and select 'create recovery media', I get an error stating that "program files (x 86) \lenovo\factory recovery\recovburncd.exe" is missing... obviously since the operating system partition was crushed.

  I tried RnR and looked on the software + drivers page and nothing happens as "... \lenovo\factory recovery\" when it is installed. So, where can I download the program that creates the recovery discs?

  Okay here's what I did to who mightve had the same question: as mentioned earlier, I have restored the partition Q with (your favorite free partition recovery tool), then booted from a usb winpe (with imagex) generated from victory aik (free).

  first I deleted (from winpe boot usb) windoze partition with diskpart and recreated the 2 partitions S & C (and Q is on the left) by hand according to 'recovery.ini' found on q. then I restored S and C 'sdrivebackup.wim' and 'cdrivebackup.wim', respectively, using imagex.exe, which is actually two one liners.

  Finally, I tried the bcd to fixation by hand according to "bcdinfo.txt", also found on Q, but that did not really work... so I just jumped into a bootable win7 USB and he rewrote the bcd by itself (I assume). the last step has been fixing the mbr by using /fixmbr and /fixboot bootrec.exe.

  I don't know why your PC is saying your partition disappeared - you're right, it seems to be missing. I know that if you use the wizard to help to make your recovery disks backup copies and then ask him to remove the recovery partition to give you more space on the hard drive, it will remove the factory image HP of Windows 8 for the recovery partition and let the normal Windows repair tools.

  There are tools, but which allow you to create your own recovery partition full with these tools of Windows repair and a new image of your instalation so that you can restore from that. Your re - installs will be faster, they will already have your chosen installed software, and you will save wear on your HP recovery disks.  You can then delete the recovery partition to regain this space on your hard drive (since you cannot access in all cases, you will not need this space being taken up).  BUT... you cannot restore Mode UEFI which is what HP comes with. You have to go into your Bios settings and switch in the Legacy Bios mode (which disables the secure boot) FIRST or else the Macruim recovery boot disk will not load to install the recovery image. After the system re - installs you can go back into the bios settings and disable bios Legacy and reactivate if secure boot you want. (Windows 8 charge mode UEFI bios active secure boot or Legacy mode... it's your choice.) UEFI mode will load faster, but it will cause problems if you want double boot the system with another OS) hope this helps.

Should be simple, but my phone does not allow me to restore the default values.

  I followed the instructions at SevenForums to make a patch to reinstall using the ISO downloaded from Dell.
