Recovery question

If I create a new partition (partition storage) to store my default programs, files, images, and music.

Will be wipe my files if I do the recovery to remove spam and viruses (and maleware + spyware)?

Hello

If you believe that you can have a lot of malicious software on your PC and want to reinstall the operating system, it would be better to do it from your recovery DVDs instead of using the recovery Partition (which may be infected) hard disk.  However, I believe that this would erase all extra partition, you may have created, so my advice would be to save all of your external media such as a flash drive, hard drive, external files or DVD.

I hope this helps.

Best wishes

I tried to do a cover of product on a satellite pro A60

I put in discs 1 and 2 according to the instructions and everything seems to work ok.
Then tells me to remove the recovery media and restart the computer using ctrl alt del

It restarts and goes through toshiba screen and on the screen of windows xp... then a blue screen that says please wait while windows prepares to start... then on windows xp with a saying of hourglass professional screen, please wait. Nothing else happens.

It does nothing else, we left it for 3 hours today and it didn't go past this screen.

Everyone knows it or can give me some tips on how to make the laptop still works?

I installed windows and the Toshiba Recovery many times and I didn't noticed this problem on any of my books.
I remember that once my Windows installation operating system has failed. I put t know why
But I just formatted my HARD disk, erase all partitions and started the installation again! The procedure is completed successfully and portable started in the Win XP operating system.

You must understand you problem could be linked to the software only or the operation of the equipment (HARD drive?)

One question; have you used the recovery CD Toshiba compatible? I read repeatedly on similar problems, and finally the wrong recovery CD was the reason for start-up/installation problems.

Make sure that sue you the good CD and then I would recommend repeat the installation of the OS.

  • Tecra M2 - recovery question

I bought an old laptop Toshiba Tecra M2, without recovery CD.

As far as I understand (I'm a beginner), there is no way to make recovery CD or DVD on this laptop with «HARD drive recovery»

    Is this good?
(I saw that on Toshiba 'support newsletter
Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility Document ID: 98081179)

Is there any other way to do it? What will happen when the hard drive must be interrupted?

In fact, the only way should be to buy an old hard drive of the laptop even.
Will it work? (maybe the serial number is located in and stop the change?)

    Can you help me?

    Thank you

    (Sorry for my English)

    You mean this FAQ:

To be honest I n don't know what your question.
Do you need a recovery disk?

If you need a recovery disc, then you will need to buy the Toshiba ASP in your country. If all goes well, it will be possible to get this drive because a very few cases, it s not possible to order a recovery disc, if the laptop series is too old.

Toshiba article explains how to burn an image that was stored on the HARD drive
This laptop has not been delivered with the recovery disk and it was therefore necessary to create this disk using the procedure described in the article.

  • HP 300-1020: recovery questions

    Hi all

    HP Touchsmart 300-1020 all-in-one

OS is Windows 7 64 bit

I recently bought the Touchsmart 300-1020 and many issues.  I intend to do a factory reset to solve most if not all of the questions, but when I put in place the Recovery Manager, it does not give me the choice to reset to factory conditions without the help of recovery disks.

Is it because the 300-1020 was not manufactured with a recovery partition recovery without disks using wildly or could the partition have been corrupted somehow?

The next step was to make a record of recovery, but but the creation of HP recovery disks does not see the recovery partition.  To quote the message, "the recovery partition is not found" Image icon factory next to the HP (C indicates 12.7 GB free of 12.8 GB.)  There is no files contained in FACTORY_IMAGE (D in addition, at the opening of the creation of recovery disks, I read that it could be a set of recovery disks created.)

If the first owner created these disks, which would be why there is no files in the original Image (D?)

Next, I decided to do the best I could to fix the problems manually, but they proved to be many.  There seems to be issues with "Touchsmart Homepage" as well.   Photos see toward the top in the home page but music and videos in different files are not visible.  It seems that the best move is to buy the necessary dics and get things to normal as far as I can get them again.

Which leads to the third question and I hope I was descriptive enough for someone to answer: a set of recovery disks will bring this computer to a State factory reviewing the questions I mentioned with particular reference to the absence of the recovery partition?

Thanks for all the tips.  I think that I have now found the right place for what will be displayed.

All new HP computers come with a recovery partition.  It is possible that the original owner somehow altered the recovery partition or delete its content.

The only way to bring the computer back to life would be to order the HP recovery discs.

If you live in the USA/Canada, call this number...  1-800-334-5144.

If you do not live in the USA/Canada, call the support number HP business PC for the country where you live.

  • recovery questions

    Hello

    TouchSmart 300-1020

    Windows 7 64 bit

I have another question about the issue of recovery.  I'm set to order the disc to set recovery, but I wonder if, at the age of the computer (5 years), it might be better just to leave well enough alone.  Your advice would be appreciated.  As I mentioned earlier, the recovery partition was gone.  I wouldn't mind being able to put it to a State factory but I don't want to cause problems of hardware by running the recovery discs.  The question:

Given the age of the computer, is there a chance that the execution of defined recovery will be, or could cause hardware problems?

The computer works fine.  Not as fast as I would like.  It was loaded with adware when I got it and I think that I managed to clean everything, although some may still remain.  The scans, I ran indicate not but there still no malware or viruses...

The idea that the unknown can be pretty well resolved by a factory reset push in this direction, but I wonder if the recovery CD could make jogging the material under stress.

    Thanks for all the tips.

    Ambico

Recovery disc restore factory does not constraint to cancel it on hardware.  In fact, you should see improved performance after reinstalling as he will be rid of all the waste accumulated over time.  Hardware problems can occur at any time for a variety of reasons, for example heat or they wear out everything.  It may happen today, tomorrow or next year, who knows, be they new or old computers.  Nothing is absolute, your system and if all goes well it will look after itself.  Software does not have hardware problems.

How do I know that the recovery programs were not damaged, while I won't have problems when the recovery is complete?

I have updated BIOS with HP Support Manager a month ago, the recovery also moved the original driver for BIOS?

How do I know that the recovery programs were not damaged, while I won't have problems when the recovery is complete? Use recovery disk series or usb recovery media that you should have right there.

I have updated BIOS with HP Support Manager a month ago, the recovery also moved the original driver for BIOS? A recovery will have no effect on the BIOS.

I can make the recovery of a battery in the laptop or I have to remove and do as the tank adapter? No recoveries with the AC adapter.

How long it takes for this process to be done (approx.)? Depends on the media you use. If you use a usb recovery media is fast enough. Maybe an hour. If you use recovery DVD, so maybe it will take two hours or more. If you perform a recovery from Windows, you may have one or two hours.

Can I keep recovery (D and HP_TOOLS (E after recovery?)) It would be a wise thing to do. Consider the fact that neither score is actually a lot of space on your hard drive.

This recovery will really put me on the language selection screen, after it's done and instal lall, the pilots and the original software? the recovery will be in the default language for portable computer was shipped with. It will install the drivers, but not necessarily all applications. and then it also depends on the type of recovery you have chosen.

Do I need Internet while doing a recovery? No.

  • Windows recovery question

    Hello

My HP dv6 laptop acted strangely lately... no opening/installation/uninstallation programs esp. HP, not looking for drivers for various things etc.

I was advised to use the recovery partition to reinstall my windows. However, I have a few questions about it. First, is - this will reformat and clear my C drive?

Secondly and most importantly, my PC originally supplied with Windows Vista, which I later upgraded to Windows 7 (with free upgrade kit). Using the recovery partition reinstall Windows Vista or Windows 7?

    Thanks for your help!

If you have a system image you created third-party software, I wouldn't bother go back to Vista, all this is long just to create a recovery disc game the worst thing that will happen, you will need to spend $ 20.00 and order a set of HP, but this is an unlikely scenario.

As mentioned, I recommend always erase the entire disc during installation of W7, which includes the Vista recovery partition.

In the tutorial he gives instructions on how you can use your W7 disk editing to delete all partitions and create the space not allocated.

W7 will automatically format the disk later if you don't even have to do.

Once is installed to connect to the internet (there is an option for you to do during the installation) and then go to Windows Update in Control Panel and updates. In many cases, Windows will detect some drivers for you. Keep control of the updates until it finds no more (this can be a long process).

After the update is complete will support you page and install you chip set and then you driver video driver, in that order, if Windows has already done.

Before you begin, please give me you full model number dv6-xxxx xx. I want to see what's available for your drivers for W7.

I recommend also using Microsoft security Essentials (Windows updates will find it). I used to have a pretty expensive version of Eset and I've always had a virus, so I even bother pay for anti-virus software.

W7 has a nice feature that allows to create a system image and a system repair disc (your install of W7 disc can also be used this repair disc)

Once W7 installed and working, we need to create the image of your DVD system. If you get a nasty virus, boot from your "system repair disc" and reinstall W7 (at the time where your created DVD) of your disc image system

When you add new programs and software, you can create new sets and throw the 'old', how ever I recommend that you keep the very first made series that they are essentially as your partition recovery Vista only with W7 on them.

Always use Sony DVD + R.

You will find this new feature in 'Control Panel' under 'backup and restore. "

Also, if your computer has a hard disk secondary W7 will automatically create the image of the system on this drive, if you allow it to, but I always set mine on DVD as well.

One last thing, try not to use your kit extension with your drivers on them, I believe that HP can have sent you this drive, HP tends to be wrong. Once, I have your complete model number, I can help you with this news.

Just to underline once again, do not delete the Vista partition recovery after W7 install, follow the instructions in the tutorial to remove before installing W7. This is important.

  • Qosmio G20: Question of Media Center Receiver - recovery question

As the abvoe really, I usually leave my computer running from one day to the next day and yesterday I went on it to find that I had 80 MB hard drive (60 GB HDD) to the left. Error messages had popped up and a record of these was recorded in the folder pchealth, under userdumps, or something like that. Anyway I deleted 58gigs with a value of these userdumps, but the same error message kept popping up.

It was a mistake with the Media Centre receiver, but I don't quite know what it is, but it was founded in the ehome folder which I think is located in the main folder of Windows.

I have been into msconfig and stopped the ehhome.exe to start but that seems to ruin the tv/video within the media library settings.

I recently installed the codec and divx player to play divx movies.

I was wondering is that it would be more prudent to use the CD recovery and re - install windows and the software and create a restore point, and then install the codecs to see if the same problem arises, or if someone has had this problem and it heals.

Finally, I actually ran the recovery cd to the above, but when the cd starts the first line on back said something like, 'running Setup for windows 98'. XP is certainly on the 98 and no recovery cd?

Can someone please confirm this for me and all the answers to the above problems.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I can t believe that Windows 98 is placed on the recovery CD.
AFAIK the Qosmio G20 was delivered with the MCE window.
There is no recovery of Win98 CDs for Qosmio units.

In my opinion, this message occurs due to RAID or other drivers that load at the beginning.

  • Satellite L670-L14 - recovery question

    Hello.

If all goes well, my problem is not as bad as it first appears...

I tried to dual boot my laptop when I should have chosen to use the entire disk for the installation of the new rather than the partition I've selected.
Therefore, all my partitions are parties with my installation of Windows 7 and the recovery of HARD drive partition.

The advantage is that I backed up my C:\ and D:\ So I stll have a folder with "HARD drive recovery", but I don't know how to make bootable (if possible).
I can't create a DVD right now, but I'll try tomorrow. Will this work?

    Anyone got any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated - thanks

Usually, you could get access to HARD drive recovery option by pressing F8 when starting the unit. Then, an option should appear called repair my computer.
Then you should be able to choose HARD drive recovery.

But I don't very well if it works after you delete the partitions m

  • Satellite A300 - and Vista recovery Question

I bought a Satellite A300 a few days previously, it automatically installed Vista without CD when I opened it.
Is it joint to come with a vista CD/DVD or I need to burn a Toshiba Recovery disk?

Pkozerski is right. Toshiba offers no support for recovery with new laptop models and this media must be created using the preinstalled recovery Toshiba creator tool.

To do this I advise you to use high quality in DVD-R format media. My favorite is TDK or Verbatim.
If you change anything in the future on your laptop, you'll be able to find your laptop using recovery image stored on the second partition.

If you need instructions specific to how make it please let me know.

Hello, does anyone know if there is a recovery of HD partition or do I have to use the DVD to recover my system?

Edit: I just found it myself. But I still have the problem that I do not get there. The manual says to press "0" at the start, but I can just choose to boot my system or use some diagnostic tools.
