If you are convinced that you want to start the recovery process, click Next . The PC immediately starts formatting the disk hard drive and destroy all data.

The recovery process may take up to several hours and will return the PC to its original state. All custom, settings drivers, software and upgrades or hardware updates are lost and must be reinstalled.

Restore the PC to its original state with the HP Recovery Manager if Windows Vista is not accessible

If the PC does not start under Windows, it may still be possible to use the HP recovery disk to restore the computer to its original state. The Recovery Manager can be started during the boot process by following the steps below.

NOTE:

Do not interrupt the recovery process even though the computer may restart, and the Windows desktop can display at different times.

When you are prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to backup user files.

After completing the backup, when you are prompted, reinsert the recovery disk, and then click Next to continue the recovery process.

A status box is displayed to indicate the State of the recovery and the estimated remaining time.

If you have used several disks when you created the custom recovery discs, follow the prompts to remove the first disc and insert requested discs.

When you are prompted to Insert additional driver disk , take one of the following actions:
- If you purchased a replacement of HP recovery disk and it included an extra driver disc, insert the disc, and then click OK or Next . The recovery program checks the additional drive and installs the necessary files.
  
  After you install the additional files, a prompt to remove extra disc and insert the original recovery disk.
- If you bought a replacement at HP recovery disc, and he didn't get an extra driver disk, click ignore or Cancel . The recovery program will ignore the request and install the following file on the recovery disk.
- If you have created a personal recovery disc, press Next to continue.
Continue following the onscreen instructions to complete the recovery process.

NOTE:

I had problems, make my weekly backups with Windows Backup and restore utility.

I tried three different times, and they have all failed with the error message:

"Failure of backup Windows: the system cannot find the file specified." 0 x 80070002.

I went through almost all of the threads in this forum about this, and none of them seem to work for me.

I went through the register of audit in this thread (http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2008/03/12/common-causes-and-solutions-to-backup-system-restore-and-complete-pc-backup-problems-updated.aspx) and all records were correct and have no errors.

I also went through this thread: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979281/en-us

I'm confused how to proceed with a resolution of 1 scenario; I finished scenario 2 of the resolution and the resolution of scenario 3 does not apply to my problem.

I was able to complete the portion of the data backup, just am not able to finish the part "create a System Image", i.e. when the error message appears. I check back up data with the options "Restore my files", and as far as I know, all the files are there.

So, what should I do then?

Suggestions or comments are much appreciated. Thank you.

I'm sorry to post an update so late. I was waiting for my 1 TB External Drive happen so I can retry the backup.

I tried the solution in the link that User2@16 post:

What I did is to assign a "drive letter" in the drive titled "RECOVERY", which has no drive letter in a first time.

Image of my system and backup were created successfully last night.

Whenever I try to use the Windows backup utility, I get a failure with the error code 0 x 80070002 and "the system cannot find the specified files" - I found KB976972, which refers to these two messages, and I have all the conditions specified here EXCEPT that I don't have an NVIDIA USB Enhanced Host controller Interface (EHCI) chipset. It is resolved. I was getting an error 0 x 24, which I couldn't see before because the error of the report was disable.

Well, the system on the HARD drive seems to be corrupted.
Who knows why, but it happens sometimes, it s nothing unusual and, therefore, it s always recommended to backup the data always

The files are not lost, but you are not able to start the unit.

What you can do?
Well, you can grab the laptop again.
By using the HARD drive recovery option (press F8, repair my computer, drive HARD recovery) or by using the recovery disk

But this will format the HARD drive and you will lose data.
If you want to get access to the data, I recommend booting of live CD WinPE and BartPE.

Your Satellite A10 is old enough laptop model. I can't imagine that you use recovery CD for the first time now.
Any suggestion? I see there two possible reasons: either is troublemaker HDD (but after your cheque probably not) or the recovery image (drive) is damaged and at some point not readable.

If possible get CD Microsoft facilities for the installation of Windows XP Home edition. All the necessary drivers, tools and utilities that you can download at Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

I'll try to clarify the situation on your HARD drive. as far as I know your laptop comes with preinstalled a? Media Express Playera?. It's small? Linux-baseda? application and it is installed on the small unallocated partition (about 250 MB). Please leave it is.

Ok... You have 3 files in the same folder.

Now, you double-click and run the X 14 or 15 as there is, .exe file.

You get the windows vista installation screen.

Now close that.

Now you should see a folder named Vista.

To create a startup using image burning disk, you do not extract all files in the folder Vista, but follow all the other steps in the section create a .iso file

It's the wrong info that I mentioned in my post.

I had to type in Microsoft Corporation, then the rest displayed fields populated.

Then just burn the ISO file that you built on a DVD using a burning program capable of burning ISO files.

Hi, I tried to upgrade the original 320 GB HDD to a 256 GB SSD.

After that replacement of the naked NTFS hard drive to SSD format, I tried to do a "factory restore" using the DVD, I created some time ago about recovery. The DVD started and recovery program ran very well, first menus for recovery/system control etc. The problem is that the program would not be allowed a resumption of the plant as the HDD was little different/more than the installed hard drive to factory.

This is the point I'm stuck at, I reassembled the original hard drive while I find a solution.

Is it possible to find a workaround to avoid having to order a new disc of Windows 7? Any help and advice in terms of simple-ish would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Try this if you do not have

Windows Explorer to create the folders and shortcuts in your document folder, drag and drop them on your desktop.

If you have completed the steps and was not even useful,

Follow these steps:

Try to create a shortcut and sending it on the desktop.

(1) open: Start Menu ,.
(2) right-click: Internet Explorer icon .
(3) select: send to > desktop (create shortcut).

There should be a shortcut on the desktop .

Make sure that the "show desktop icon" has a check against it

OR

Just click on the empty part of the desktop, choose new > then select the folder to create. Right click on this folder , select Rename it.
