Recovery system on Satellite M70-204 PSM71E. The CD/DVD drive does not work
Hello!
Can you please give me a help and advice on how to solve the following problems:
I got on the last minor problems for three months with Windows Installer: software updates may not always be performed successfully, an error message was issued by Windows Installer on Quick Time, when I started the computer. Apart from him, the computer has been properly runing. I was intending to restore the system with the Toshiba CD in the coming weeks to correct the problems.
But since yesterday, I had a new problem. The CD drive is not recognized in Windows XP.
I tried to repair the driver from the CD player, following the procedure described by Toshiba. It did not work. I don't know if this is a hardware or a software problem preventing me to recognize and use the CD drive and DVD under Windows XP and I don't know or if I can run even more a restoration process.
_ * 1 / if I run a restore process, I think that, initially, the HD will be formatted. How can I be sure that my computer will be able to read the data from the Toshiba Recovery CD? * _ (I have today a computer that almost works. I do not want to be stuck with a dead computer, if the restore process fails because of the CD driver)
_ * 2 / is it possible to restore without using the internal CD player? (using an external CD drive or an external hard drive) * _
Thanks in advance for your help and advice!
I delighted to hear that you solved this Mr. thank you for the comments!

I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop Compaq Presario F700. It is listed in the list of computers of readers, it is listed in Device Manager. The lites drive that the computer boots so I know it is detected. When you run itunes or media player the player does not open. When I push the drive button it will not open. It opens with a paperclip in the exit hole. It cannot read a CD or a DVD. None of the media players even recognize there is a disc in the drive. I tried to run fixit, but it would not drive either. I tried restoring from a previous backup, without change.
Hello
Check / settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 so watch the screen as it starts - place CD/DVD
1st in the boot order (remember to put it at the time where the fact). Then put in a DVD to boot Windows and see if the driver works.
If it doesn't then it's a hardware problem.

CD/DVD drive does not work on my Satellite L300D
Hi all
* I have Toshiba Satellite L300D laptop and my OS is Windows Vista.*
I don't have any driver cd... when buying. They ask me to download from internet if any necessary driver software.
Now if I put a cd/dvd is not readable. The option of cd/dvd drive is invisible in the my computer window.
I renewed my anti virus and checked the laptop. There a few virus and I deleted all the viruses.
But still my drive does not work. What should I do? Also, my warranty period expires last month. I'm not having any recovery cd also.
Please give me the solution.Hello
Please check if the CD/DVD drive is listed in Device Manager.
If it s listed, then it means that ODD has been recognized by the Windows operating system.In this case, try this;
-Remove the STRANGE to the list of devices.
-remove the filters above and below of this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Satellite 2430: CD/DVD drive does not work - i/o error
Hello all Toshiba people.i have recently bought a Toshiba Satellite 2430 for a very good price. One thing the carpet * a DVD - ram Uj - 810 drive does not work when I put in any type of cd or dvd, I get this error
F:\ is not accessible.
The request could not be performed because of an i/o error.I talked to my local computer Wizz and does everything that he suggested to the letter and still the same problem. He suggested updating the bios drivers and the only way to do that is on a disk drive that she cannot take the an or a CD or dvd drive is not working. Can you please help me!
Begging you a lot
Michael BorgerIn my view BIOS update will not change.
I assume that the reader has worked in the past with the same BIOS version
It is a drive hardware problem or some registry keys are corrupt.I think that it s a hardware malfunction may be a matter of lenses.
But try this;
Remove the drive from Device Manager and shut the laptop computer. After restarting again the operating system should recognize the drive again. Then you can check the functionality.Otherwise, you can remove the disk from the laptop, and then start the laptop without the drive. Then stop the laptop, put the drive in the notebook and start over.
The firmware should again loads. But if these procedures help t, I don t see it differently as for replace the drive

I have 3 MB of RAM which was the spec when bought. If I wanted to change to 32 bit how you take you without the CD/DVD drive?
Is there any point in doing this?Thank you

Hello
To be honest I m a bit confused.
You are not able to boot from THE disks; Windows disk, disk recovery, disk Linux? If it of the case, then it means that your CD/DVD drive is faulty.
Why? Because the CD/DVD drive is recognized and controlled by the BIOS when booting from CD or DVD.When the Windows operating system has started, the CD/DVD drive must use the Microsoft common driver which is part of the Windows operating system.
This means that you n t need to install ALL the drivers in order to get the job of CD/DVD.If you can boot from any disk, but if the CD/DVD drive is not recognized by MY computer, then I recommend this:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/270008/en-usBefore you remove the upper and lower registry filters, remove the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and then go into the registry and remove the filters. Restart the unit.
Good luck

First of all, my laptop computer became very slow loading vista after formula 1 week to buy it.
Second, sometimes when I put the mode 'sleep' a revival of the laptop, there is no sound and a red circle appears over the speaker icon in the bar of tasks, and when I go into control panel > Sound, he tells me that no. his drive was installed and when restarting the laptop the problem resolved?
Thirdly, after the formula of the week 3 buy the computer also dvd - cd player has the same problem, like the sound and when you open my computer that NO cd\dvd drive icon and when I put a cd or dvd, it does not work or run and it happens all the time, even if the laptop restarts.
Since then im able to watch movies or work.
I'm lost and I don't know what to do!

I think I can help you. The questions that appear on your laptop are not serious and the only one associated with software or registry.
Regarding your noise problem:
Please check this Microsoft document

or
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/937077/the MS update must be downloaded and installed ;)
Regarding the missing CD/DVD drive;
I think you should try to remove the drive from Device Manager and reboot the laptop. Then the operating system should recognize the STRANGE again.
Secondly you should access the registry editor and should remove the upper filter and bring back the key filter

Hi, I have a COMPAQ Presario CQ40 with optiarc DVD RW AD - 7561 ATA Device driver, recently the drive does not work properly. It can read and burn the disc, that I already used, but when it's a new (disc white) it does not read the disc. It has an error message "make sure that the disc uses a format windows recognizes. If the drive is not formatted, you must format it before you use it. "the disc is the format that would recognize the system. Satellite L750D/L755D - its integrated and DVD player does not work.
Hey
First of all I have no idea where to post this.
Beside that, I'm clueless about take you over the page. (which lets you choose the computer laptop/build/etc etc)
So here I amI have a Toshiba - Satellite-L750D/L755D
He came Pentecost 7 windows, but after a lot of trouble, and since I hate windows 7 more then any other OS.
I bought windows 8, which is now upgraded to 8.1 the last update as you know.
Since the same beginning whit windows 7 built-in speakers not work as they should.
And small piece I want to say at the start that they have worked... BUT for 5-10 sec, then it just stopt. But the strange part of it is if I connect a sound box the sound works perfectly and does not either.
I'm not an expert in the field. but since I grew up whit it I know a little bit about it.I think it's something whit drivers that are corrupt or don't work well together.
Now search across the web around trying to find a solution but not done whit no progress at all.
You may think different, but I think that this Web site is the worst of all. lol sorry I have to be true.He asks what kind of satellite I what I know but who is not in the list, anywhere!
Then try to find the right driver which is probably need is a little impossible.
Next to this no disc drive of mine no longer works. No matter what or what disc I put in, after all he'll say that there is no disk or the disk is empty.
And no, this isn't the issue because if I put in another laptop / pc, it works very well.
I'm getting a little tired of it because I paid more than 700 euros for this laptop.
To know that I could use it properly for 3 months, after that it started to happen.
I'm still paying every month for this laptop, which is unusable at all. Why? because I had no sound, and the reason I bought a laptop from Pentecost 8 GB of ram is for games.
Now to do games come whit a disc, if your laptop can not read you wasted more money. (new)I really need help whit this and hope I am on the right place for it.
Because I'm on the point just throw it out the window. If you want to know more information ask around. I give you everything I know.
But also didn't really know what to write here, next to the problems I faced.
.
Oh yes before I forget, I tried to get the drivers whit me serial nr.
And guess what? It does not exist! And no, I'm not stupid, that's good.Help, please!
Theo
Hi Theo
At first, I want to clarify one important fact: it is user community.
I guess you did not however, I want to help you provide essential information.First of all some ideas concerning the problem of CD/DVD drive:
As you probably know that the lens of the laser s internal drive is important to read or write data on the disk (CD or DVD). In case this laser lens is dirty or would not calibrate properly, the disc could not be treated properly.I m also an owner of some different notebooks and I had the same problem in the past. I could fix it by cleaning the laser lens using cotton tip and liquid alcohol. I was not very difficult to clean the lens, and after this procedure simply the disc can be read correctly.
I recommend you to clean the laser lens and verify if it would help to address this problem.Regarding the sound issue:
You have posted some info on the series of the laptop but I put t know which model of laptop you have exactly: Satellite L750D-xxx
It would be interesting to know which model you have exactly. In any case, always is, and the problem could be related to software or hardware problems.
Software problems could be solved by putting the laptop back to factory settings (using the procedure of recovery, Recovery disk). Of course, this would mean that you would get the Win 7 OS on the laptop and your personal data would be deleted. So save the data if it is important for you.Of course it would be also desirable to reinstall the audio driver.
The Toshiba UE driver page provides all the drivers for the laptop Toshiba EU models
http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EUSince most of the Satellite L750D-xxx models use the same sound chip, you can choose any series L750D for the right audio driver.
Note: the audio driver should be removed (uninstalled) before beginning the installation of the new driver.
This could be done in the Device Manager. -
CD/DVD drive does not work - error code 39 on Satellite A300
Good evening.
I have a problem with my Satellite A300.
I can't get the drive to function.Device Manager indicates that the driver is current. But also says that it is corrupted "code 39".
I tried to download the new Toshibas website drivers but they are all come as code 39 cannot install. First, I noticed that it was last night when I was installing Norton 360. I got the cd it worked once then nothing.Anyone ran across this before?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hello
I had the same problem and I found a solution here in the forum.
The problem is that your Windows registry database is confused upward. You must first access the Device Manager and should remove the reader of CD/DVD from the list of devices.
Second, he must start the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}Finally, restart the laptop and test the CD/DVD drive again!
Good bye
