Hello Gdeuce,

Thank you for your message.  You shouldn't need an OEM CD, but do not remove your printer and reinstall that something may be damaged.  Click HERE to download the latest driver for your device.

  • "Devices and printers" do not show the printer on LPT1

I recently added a printer on parallel port LPT1: on my PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit edition.  The installation was successful.  I can print a test page and you can use the printer from applications, including Notepad, Microsoft Word 2010, and command prompt.  I find it puzzling, however, that the printer does not appear in the list of printers in the "Devices and printers" Control Panel applet  Is this a bug in Windows?  Microsoft has a fix available?

    Hello Tony,.

Thank you for your reply and sorry for the late reply.

Sometimes, this problem appears when printers or other devices using the same driver and port on Windows. When you view the printers installed in "Devices and printers", you may notice that some of the printers or other devices are grouped and are associated with the same printer icon. Scenarios like two or more printers are installed using the same printer and installed driver with the same printer port (i.e. LPT1) shows this kind of behavior.

I suggest you follow the steps described in the article below to get this matter resolved.

Printers using the same driver and port on Windows are grouped as a reporting in devices and printers.

  • the printer port does not recognize hasp key

I recently bought a Dell rebuilt to replace a running xp sp3 which had overheating problems with windows xp sp3.  I am running a previous software (7.5V2 friendly technology FlexiSign Pro) program that requires a hasp on a parallel port key.  I never had problems with the old computer recognizing the hasp key, but when I try to use this software on the new computer does not recognize the HASP.  I think what may be due to the fact that my new computer printer port is configured as instead of the lpt port ecp.  Is it possible that this could be my problem and I can change the port of older style? Any guidance is appreciated.

    Thank you

    Greg

If the problem really is whether the parallel port in ECP mode, you can switch to EPP mode in the BIOS.  Restart the computer and keep a close eye at the beginning of the boot sequence for the message that tells you what key to press to enter the BIOS (change system settings or similar).  Restart again and press the key when the message is displayed.  You will have only a few seconds.

I've been using a printer Lexmark Z35 with Vista Home Premium and then it stopped working.  When I go to the control panel of configuration/printers look at the properties of a printer (even PDF printer), when I click on the Ports tab, nothing happens, it just hangs.  I left alone for 45 minutes and it is still stuck.   I searched online but could not find anything on this.

    Uninstall and reinstall the printer.

    Hi Ron,

    1. how many printers is connected to the computer?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    3. what happens when you try to change printer (LPT1) port

    Method 1

See the link below and run them the fixit tool available, check if it helps.

    Problems printing and printing errors

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/printing_problems/en-us?EntryPoint=lightbox

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you restart the computer the print spooler service and check if it works.

A print spooler is a system service that temporarily stores the disk printing hard or in memory until the printer is ready to print.

To change or restart the print spooler service

You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.

    (a) open administrative tools by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.

    (b) double click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (c) right click on the print spooler service, and then click Properties.

    (d) under the tab general , next to Startup type, make sure thatAutomatic is selected.

    (e) if the service is not already running, under Service status, click pie Sand then clickOK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

The modem uses a virtual com port. It s not a real port.
I wonder why it usually happens after the installation of the new operating system, you must install drivers Toshiba together in the right order
Installing the chipset utility is important

The modem driver should do the work and you n t need to activate com ports
Please choose the right side of the page of the Toshiba driver modem driver after installing the OS correctly. I think that's the key

  • LaserJet 4000 TN: The printer HP Laserjet 4000 Series PCL5: error state & quot; message & quot;

I sent the following message to Microsoft after a ' update:

I have a printer HP Laserjet 4000 Series PCL5 TN which worked beautifully "black only" for many years. A recent update (Windows 10:12 / 22/15) seemed to put the printer in the "printer error state", when you try to print a simple document. It has been my default printer for a long time. I followed the suggestions of printer "windows 10", that is, unplug and plug - check cable (not USB) connections, remove the printer from the list of print devices /, reinstall drivers HP for Windows 10 (following suggestions from HP on HP site) - nothing seems to work. It has a network cable connection, but it is directly connected to my computer, no other computers are connected. See screen capture below. I even did a "recovery" of before 12/22! Any suggestions? Thank you. GM

    I received instructions from Microsoft:

You run the printer Troubleshooter and identify the cause?

If this isn't the case, we will do that by visiting the link below and see if it helps.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-10/fix-printer-problems

Check also the update (KB number) has recently been installed on your computer.

You can also restore printer drivers and check.

To restore the driver, you can follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows + R on the desktop screen.
    • Type devmgmt.msc and press ENTER.
    • Expand the printer drivers and do a right-click on the driver and select Properties.
    • Go to the driver tab and click driver RollBack.

Can I assume that you use a parallel cable to connect the printer to the computer.  If you do this is a known problem that can be solved.  Go to Device Manager and then click ports.  Double-click the lpt for the printer port, and then click on device settings at the top.  Change the default setting of the middle box checked in the box below to use any available interruption. I would also check the legacy down.  If necessary, turn the computer off and then turn it back on, but most of the time this solves the problem without a reboot.

  • Is no longer able to print on a network HP 6310 printer - printing error (works fine, now the printing error returns)

Was printing fine, no problem, then had problem with printer HP 6310 showing as offline while he was online
Fix this problem by unchecking the box SMTP on the printer port.
Now shows that it is printing, but after a minute or so, it returns an error ("error printing")

Interesting, when I try to cancel the document does not print, I have to click Cancel to remove the document - the first time I get a "send error" - the second time, the document disappears.

    • I am running Vista home Premium (64 bit) on computer laptop Dell Studio 15, updated with Service Pack 1.  This error has occurred even after a cold reboot.

It worked very well - I think that the original problem (printer showing as offline) happened after a hibernation, but problem now Vista think it's printing (after turning off SMTP setting on the printer port), but it's not.

    Hello Ibusby2000,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers forum.  I suggest to go to the manufactures website and download the latest drivers and or updates.  You can also remove the printer and add it again.

  • Print jobs may not reach the printer

I have a machine in which everything was working fine until he was not part of the domain. Since it was added to the field, he has stopped printing.

If a draw is sent, he goes to Quebec, she disappears, but does not reach the printer. It shows the same problem even with the local administrator account.

It is a network printer and works great for other users.

    Printer driver has been updated.

    Spooler service works very well

No errors in the event logs.

This paragraph is confusing.  The computer is now connected to a domain or not?

I have a machine in which everything was working fine until he was not part of the domain. Since it was added to the field, he has stopped printing.

The problem you describe appears if the printer port is not directed to the correct address.  This often happens with wireless printers, but if your computer is connected to a domain, you should ask your network administrator for assistance.
