Our Alienware X 51 is under warranty. We have received a message that the hard drive was not, and fill out this form and the hard drive would be sent to me. We did it and he said no charge. Then I was charged more than $200. I called tech support and they said that I would have not ordered the hard drive, they had to do it for me. Then an hour later, they said the parts would be sent to a technician and intervenes next business day repair. It should be Tuesday or Wednesday. No one has contacted me to set up the appointment, so after searching the Internet, I found that repair has been delayed. Still, I contacted customer service and they said they did not know when, maybe tomorrow, maybe not, that a tech would have the parts. Technology can't get the parts, but Dell me past the night the new hard drive, I ordered by mistake? Dell support person could not tell me who was my tech or they came. No info whatsoever. Hard to not understand, no knowledge of how to help me. I feel like Im going to have a stroke of frustration. I have an Alienware, two laptops from Dell, a computer Dell desktop and both Dell sites currently. Forget all the others, that we had in the past.  Where is the love for a faithful consumer of Dell who has spent thousands and thousands of dollars? • (Redirected) Alienware M17x R4: Windows7 not detecting SATA DVD/CD internal optical drive, game dvd stuck inside.

Hello, I need help here because I can't really understand what causes the problem.

I inserted a BioShock 2 legit installation DVD, and my CD/DVD drive does not detect. I tried to take the drive by pressing the eject ODD button, but nothing happened.

Under 'My Computer' my drive does not appear.

In Device Manager, it does not show any CD/DVD player either.

    Control of my computer

I took a lot of steps trying to find out what is happening, and I thought it was a problem of software based.

Ran the Dell diagnostics, Fix It, started and checked in safe mode and pretty much everything what they advised me to do in the guides.

One step, I am committed not, where do I look for the registry subkey 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}' and change the filters upper and/or lower, because there is no filters to change.

    Photo of my registry editor

The last step, I got added the following subkey to atapi in regedit.

When you pull up my laptop, I hear my work in the car. During the ejection of pressing, looks like she is about to eject the disc, but nothing has yet come out.

The CD/DVD drive is recognized in the BIOS but does not appear in my device manager. It becomes clear to power. In the BIOS, it mentions "SATA ODD MATSHITARV11 Downloader". It is also displayed in Intel RST.

I don't have that a single HARD drive on my laptop, and in my BIOS my SATA operations are on RAID. It would make a difference if I switch to AHCI? Could it be a loose connector causing this problem of detection for my OS? If so, isn't weird that my BIOS is always detect? I am able to boot from the CD/DVD, but when I do just start of my storage drive as he always does.

    Any ideas?

  • XPS M1530 with new SSD will not identify adapter WLAN 1395

I just bought a new SSD 128 GB for my old workhorse XPS M1530, installed a clean VISTA Ultimate 32 bit OS since the original DVD supplied with the laptop.  Everything works except the wireless 1395 adapter.

I know that the material of the wifi card is good, because wifi still works when I put the old 64 GB SSD back in. I use the same version of WLAN driver on the new facility.  Device Manager indicates that the adapter is installed and working properly.  Yet the computer with the new SSD does not recognize that the wireless network adapter is installed and activated.

I use the WLAN driver and BIOS version recommended Support Dell for my service number.  These are the same versions that I have on the former SSDS.

I'm tempted to reformat the new SSD and start all over again, but that takes a lot of time to reinstall everything. And I wouldn't waste 10 GB on the new SSD to install the recovery partition on the new SSD which lies on the former SSDS and do a restore on the new SSD.  I have more certain supplied software preinstalled on your laptop.

    Gene

I made an another clean install of the operating system on the new SSD, and this time, I found and used the Drivers and Utilities of original disc that came with the laptop to install the DELL software system utility first.  That did the trick, because when I installed the drivers of that era, the WLAN 1395 works.

Now I have a space wasting a 22 Gb Windows.old directory, but I am happy.  I'm going to reformat the drive in the morning then it is plugged to my laptop in an external USB SATA drive enclosure and start with a clean car and redo the OS install again, this time properly.

It's a bit ironic that the DELL system software utility has not been showing available for my service on the support.dell.com site tag.

Lesson learned.  I'll post tomorrow how the last OS install goes on the SSD clean and new.

  • R4 SERIOUS Alienware M17x adapter issues

I had the typical Alienware M17x R4 "connected load does not," since I bought this laptop. I spent almost $3 k on this thing, and I've been through THREE Dell OEM 240 Watt adapters because of this problem. These things are expensive, like $100 a piece. Whenever I have buy a (I have more warranty) the problem goes away for about 2-3 months, then comes back. He arrived at the point where it's good now I write this on 70% battery, and I can't get it fixed.

Usually, when I boot it says "the card is not taken in charge, blah blah blah, please press F2 for boot menu"

And I usually get this screen:

Usually I would disconnect and reconnect my adapter in all 20 times until he finally said a/c Adapter Type: [240W]

but it is blocked to [Unknown] once again, and this time it isn't give.

I tried all the recommended methods.

1: I emptied the power to remove adapter, battery, and freezes for a minute, then plugging power back. I did about 6 times, and it always starts up an adapter not recognized.

2: I tried to unplug and plug the adapter cord

3: I tried to use different ankles

4: I tried to reinstall the BIOS A12 several times, does not

5: I tried uninstalling the driver for ACPI compliant battery check, still nothing

6: I tried to run ePSA assessment of seed, which tells me that this:

That my battery is charging to 255 Watts instead of 240 Watts.

7: I tried to replace my battery and my card. Several times. 1 warranty, the rest of my pocket.

8: I tried to let the computer stay off for a while, cool completely.

9: I tried to update all my drivers.

I am completely out of options, the only thing is to possibly replace my motherboard, which would be ridiculous that this is going to be long and costly. I'll probably just have to take my business elsewhere I got extremely poor support just because my warranty has expired. I won't pay $300 for another year of warranty, so that they can work on the setting of a defective product.

I just want to know if you have any suggestions where to go from here? If it's fixable?

If not, what other phones would you recommend that would not have this problem?

    Hello

It seems that you tried all recommend them troubleshooting procedures for this type of problem. We believe that it is a problem with the motherboard, since you've already tried to use different adapters. For this type of repairs, we recommend that you check with ztronics.com.

  • Mac Pro early 2008 OS 10.6.8 at 10.11 on a new SSD upgrade

    Hi all!

I want to spend my Mac Pro hard drive to an SSD with a new installation of El Capitan, but I also want to continue to use Adobe CS3 (I can't afford a new version... > _ <).  I read that some people have a lot of problems after upgrading their operating system, even when you use the legacy of Java 6 to CS3.

Someone at - it good tutorials step by step to install a new OS on a SSD?  I have the adapter for my Mac to use the SSD drive also.  I'm not * that * tech savvy, so I don't want to spoil anything!  :\

Would it not be possible to keep my current hard drive with Snow Leopard and run Parallels or Fusion for Adobe CS3 on my SSD?  I've never used Parallels or Fusion (preferences?), so where the Snow Leopard operating system to be need?  On a partition on the SSD or can it be on its own hard drive (the one I'm currently using)?

Also do not know when I improve my OS, how do I tell my Mac to start El Capitan and not Snow Leopard so I keep the older operating system on its own hard drive?  It is system-> startup disk preferences?  Is that how I can go back, if I need to?

    Here are my specs:

Mac Pro early 2008 (MacPro 3,1)

    Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.8 Ghz

    16 GB RAM 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM

HARD drive 500GBx2 (one is currently my Time Machine, I'll use it as a backup of my photos)

500GB SSD (no not in my Mac still installed)

4 TB HARD drive (will have Time Machine on half)

El Capitan would be really slow on my Mac Pro or should I go with the Mavericks or Yosemite?  I'm just trying to extend the life of my Mac as long as possible!

I'm really sorry for all the questions!  Thank you very much for any help!  ^____^

    ~ Christina ~.

-Unless you have already "purchased" Mavericks or Yosemite is is not available for download.

-I just download the installer of El Capitan from the Mac App Store and run it and order that EL Capitan to be installed on the new SSD. You can then by pressing the Option key at startup to choose which version of the OS you want to boot from. You can set either as the default startup in system preferences > startup disk.

-During installation, you use the configuration wizard to migrate SN drive stuff. YO can also do it later using Migration Assistant but who has created a new used with the migrated data.

-With 16 GB of RAM and an SSD El Capitan will be fine

  • Installation of El Capitan on default of new SSD

    Hello

I'm trying to upgrade my MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2012), install a new SSD and run the operating system on it.

    Here's what I did:

I bought the 'OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6 G' with a cube of data. I removed my optical drive; installed my old HD (running the operating system) in the data Doubler; and install the new SSD in the main Bay.

I downloaded El Capitan of the 'App Store' and then used «DiskMaker X 5 "to make a bootable usb key.»

Restarted my computer laptop and booted from USB and the installation of El Capitan. From there, I formatted the new SSD (Mac OS extended (journaled) with a single partition GUID).

After running down the clock of the installation (about 5 minutes), I get the message "an error occurred during the preparation of the installation. Try to rerun this application".

Without having to restart the mac, if I try to install the OS again, I'm not able to find the SSD.

If I restart the laptop and start in the OS on my old HD, I'll find the SSD here on my desk. (Sometimes it take a couple of reboots for my Mac see the SSD).

And then I try all this again, with the same results.

    I tried other things:

    Reset the PRAM.

Manual clock setting in the Terminal since the installation of punt. (Although it was not bad in the first place)

I also tried to set the clock to AST (Arabia standard time) as I live in Saudi Arabia.

Other than my SSD is defective, any ideas on what can I do to solve this problem?

    Hi Blackcells:

I guess that you entered in "System Preferences" > "Startup disk" and set to your original drive data Doubler.

Try to remove your new SSD and put it in an external case OWC external box or using a USB to SATA adapter SATA USB adapter and connect it to your MBP via USB.

Open disk utility > delete and format the SSD for Mac OS extended (journaled) and a GUID partition.

Then, use a third party application like Carbon Copy Cloner Carbon Copy Cloner (not free, but worth the price) or Super Duper to copy all data from the HARD drive internal as well as the recovery partition.

The clone will be an exact copy of your hard drive and it will be bootable.

Start the MBP with the OPTION key and select the new SSD.

If it starts the MBP, proceed to the physical interchange of disks.

  • HP Pavilion 500-550nv: addition of new SSD in my HP desktop computer

Hello. I just wanted to know if I could add a new ssd in my case of microtour HP Pavilion Desktop 500-550nv?

Is there any place in my small suitcase to put the adapter ssd and SSD hard drive on it?

My pc and my case is this: http://support.hp.com/ro-en/document/c04606884

Thanks in advance. I will wait for your answer.

Nope. SSD is not and does not heat up much, or not at all. Alternatively, you can paste it on the sides, but the background is most effective as far as space goes.

  • Replace T420s with a new SSD HARD drive

    Hello

I wonderd if it is possible to replace with a new SSD HARD drive, while putting the HARD drive in the Bay of Ultra-slot.

And if so, what SSD model should I buy, and how do I transfer the operating system and the data for the SSD?

This SSD model will be compatible?

Corsair neutron Series 120 GB SSD Sata III MLC 2.5 inches Retail

    Thank you very much

    Guy

Yes, what you are proposing is quite feasible. You will need an adapter Ultabay to organize your HARD drive in the Ultrabay housing on your system. These are available from Lenovo, but are relatively expensive. You can get a much less expensive (~ $ 10) a compatible version on eBay. It is not as well finished as the real issue, but it works well.

The best way to transfer everything on your SSD is "clone" of your HARD disk using a software as Acronis True Image. If your current HARD drive is made by Western Digital or Seagate you can get a free copy of Acronis on their Web site. Put the SSD in the SATA drive Bay and the HARD disk in the UtlraBay. Set the T520 to start from the Ultrabay, install/run Acronis here and make a clone for the SSD. Then boot from the SSD and you'll be all set.

With respect to the SSD, many people here have had good success with Crucial M4, 520 Intel and Samsung 830. I guess that Corsair works perfectly as well, but I didn't know all messages from people here who have done so.

Before ordering a SSD confirm if the HARD drive is 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick. Then order the same thickness SSD. This way, you will be able to use the metal rails caddy and rubber who now hold your HARD drive to contain the SSD.

  • Pavilion dv2700: SSD adapter

Can someone tell me the name of the interface of current hard drive in my laptop?  There is nothing like an SATA interface.

I want to swap the hard drive from the factory with a new SSD SATA but not know how to call and had to buy an adapter that will help in this regard.

    Hello:

The drive from your PC is actually a sata drive.

There is an interface to the drive that looks like it's part of the training, but it can be removed to expose the typical sata drive connections as shown below.

I can't tell you, what if an SSD will work in your laptop or not.

If you have an Intel processor and chipset, and install an Intel SSD, it could.

I have a processor Intel 535 120 GB SSD in an old HP nc6400 notebook with the Mobile Intel 945 chipset and it works beautifully.

If your laptop computer has a processor nvidia chipset and amd that an SSD can do not work at all.

I can tell you that if your laptop is a nvidia chipset and amd processor, TRIM SSD support will not be enabled because this controller does not have an advanced host controller interface.

  • Alienware M17X R4 - Windows 7 not genuine

I have an Alienware M17x R4 with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). For the last two months, suddenly the message 'Windows 7' not authentic started coming. I tried all the tips and tricks provided in various forums (drivers Intel IRST, copy this file from here to rearm, etc) but no luck.

I suspect that this began after I reinstalled Windows because I changed one of the defective hard disks. I have two hard drives of 500 GB in RAID 0. The hard disk change was made as part of the request for service that I had raised with Dell. As well as the HARD disk, the DVD player and speakers have also changed by the representative of Dell. Please note that the new parts were also provided by Dell. Reinstalling Windows was made using the reinstallation of Windows Dell DVD provided through the same service request. Even all the drivers have been installed under the guidance of Dell by phone.

Can someone offer you please what other options can I try to get my Windows already validated as true?

    My specific situation is:

Previously a poweredge 6 / i sas card scsi perc 6 with the installation of 500 GB HD (2) RAID 0, Win 7 pro 64 bit.

    Thank you

    Hi Todd,

    Thanks for your reply.

I currently have the readers installed and running on my system

In response to your answer, yes Bios A11 had been installed for more than a year, removed the card activated before installing the SSD raid and AHCI.

The question, it turns out that was a simple, as I said after enabling the AHCI I thought that ports 0 and 1 auto detects new readers, they do not have. Once I have manually configured ports on in the Bios, the system recognizes the new SSD and they work now.
