  • OptiPlex 390 - cannot uninstall Dell system detects

I am running Windows 7 Professional 32 Bit on an OptiPlex 390. I'm having withdrawal issues Dell system detect. According to the Panel of configuration/programs and features, DSD version 5.5.0.19 and DSD-1 version 5.14.0.9 have been installed on my system on 16/02/2015. 2/18, I disabled the DSD using msconfig from run every time you start. 28/2, I tried to uninstall by using the control panel configuration/programs and features. I got a popup saying "an error has occurred all trying to uninstall Detect Dell system. It may have already been uninstalled. You want to remove in the list of features and programs? "I clicked Yes, and received this message,"you don't have sufficient access to remove Dell system detection programs and features list. Contact your system administrator. "When I connect via the administrator account, DSD and DSD-1 are not appear in programs and features list.

I know that DSD and DSD-1 have not been uninstalled from my system. I see a DellSystemDetect.exe running in the Task Manager, although I disabled it in msconfig. It appears as the network in my firewall activity, although only RSD-1 version 5.14.0.9 is indicated as having been active. The DSD icon appears in Control Panel/Notification area icons.

How can I get rid of this? I guess I could just to deny access to the network through the firewall, but it is not a very clean solution. I want to go! Any suggestions on how to get rid of this beast? Thanks for your help.

You should be able to appropriate all the files belonged to the origiynal account that you just created.  You will need to log on as an administrator and grant ownership to the new account.  Once your other has the property, you can remove the old one.

Bookmarks can be exported to a file and then imported into the new account.

  • Reference Dell system detect will not download

I have a Dell Inspiron 3647 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. It has 8 GB of RAM. Recently, I flashed the BIOS on the Dell Support website. It was version A04, and I flashed to version A05, without any problems. The next day I downloaded Dell system detect to check my complete system. Dell system detects is listed in my as installed Control Panel. The installing Dell system detects ran a few minutes (15 or 20), and then I got an error message that says: "the version of the BIOS is same or lower than the current Version of the BIOS. The installation will not continue.

Can someone tell me what this means and what I can do to fix the problem? Do a new installation of my Windows 7 help me?

    Thank you

This means that you are OK. The update of the BIOS worked. This should mean that the downloaded update is identical to what you have. I don't like this update program. It's confusing, and many have problems. You should ONLY do manual downloads and installation of just the BIOS or drivers you need. However, it is rarely necessary to download a BIOS updated or drivers. If you have problems with a piece of hardware, a new driver might help. Never a update BIOS unless find you other users or Dell it is absolutely necessary. Pilots don't usually cause problems if you download one that you don't need, but an update of the BIOS could brick the computer if something goes wrong, like a power glitch during installation.

    GDay all,.

Yesterday, I bought new M40X-112 in Germany. I want to install Windows 2003 or Windows XP Pro, but each time, when Setup inspects the hardware after reboot I got blue screen:

    Please contact your hardware vendor.

What is c? How can I install another system? Memory is ok, nothing detected diagnostic tools! Pre-installed Windows XP Home Edition works fine, also recovery CD it installs ok. The problem is when I want to install my system. I really need to install the other OS, because XP Home is simple and I want that my version of the language (Polish).

I tried to contact the Polish support... they told me to install the service pack for the victory, when I want to install own OS, no comment...

I hope someone could help me,

    Best regards, Michael

I have the same problem. I tried another 3 M40X in the shop (Mediamarkt) - always the same result. They told me to wait for a new bios. But I have found a workaround for Windows Server 2003. I slipstreamed 2003 with SP1 and the same with XPPRO. Now I can install all desired os.

  • Dell system software

I have an Optiplex 980, with Win7/64 bit installed on it. I removed my old HD and replaced by a new SSD yesterday, but after I installed correctly my W7 OS on the new drive, was surprised to find "Dell System Software" was not on my Dell drivers disk. Anyone know why?

    Thank you!!

    -David

I recommend to use the drivers disk, the drivers are usually older versions. Take the drivers from the Dell FTP site:

    http://downloads.Dell.com/published/pages/OptiPlex-980.html

For a Windows 7 installation I recommend using the WSUS Offline Update Patch Windows 7 before installing the Dell system software, more details here:

  • Cannot install Windows Vista updated system preparation tool

I downloaded the update for Vista 32 bit system preparation tool, but when the program tries to install after initialization, the installation progress bar never appears, the installation seems to just "hang" and do nothing.  I tried to cancel the installation, but the program seems stuck, I use the Task Manager to cancel the installation.  I wonder why the tool cannot install on my PC after downloading.

    Hi mlzla,

    I hope you do well.

No, if you do an upgrade on the spot, you will lose any program. The on-site upgrade process will take around an hour or two. It is very useful.

I hope this information is useful.
