  • [DISASTER] Operating system can not find the WiFi adapter

    Just short description:

    1. my laptop is Dell Inspiron 7720 (I tried to install several drivers, but only the driver Intel Centrino N 2230 installed without exception) so I think that I have the card WiFi Intel Centrino N 2230

2 WiFi worked a few days after I bought the laptop (BONE Ubuntu 13.1).

    3. then I pressed Fn + F2 and turned off the Wifi adapters and bluetooth

    4. after that, I was not able to turn them on,

    and I've tried several things:

    (a) I reinstalled OS with own Windows 7

    (b) I installed all the drivers that are required for my laptop. I took by the Service Code on Dell site

    (c) I have installed the latest drivers for the WiFi of the site of Intel for the Intel Centrino N-2230

    (c) I checked the Dell Quickset application, and I see this checkbox, which turn on the Wifi and bluetooth, is disabled

    (d) I see that the Wifi and bluetooth adapters are absent in hardware monitor in Windows 7 (I don't see them even in devices not recognized in the Hardware monitor. btw, no device not recognized in this monitor)

    (e) I installed Everest and I see, that he has not found a WiFi adapter too

    (f) I installed Intel Centrino Intel site problem diagnostic tool, and he says, that 'your driver is not attached to your WiFi traffic.

    (g) I checked the BIOS Setup and found all hardware and the hardware options are enabled

    (h) I have taken different distribution of Windows and repeat all the steps - the same result

And even Fn + F2 does not turn on the WiFi and Bluetooth.

What I intend to do it now: I'll try to move the game Windows power management to high performance, I'll try to disable the battery saving Mode, I'll try to reinstall Windows and re-install the drivers with recommended by order of Dell, but still a bit of hope, that helps.

Could you, please, give me advice, what can I do to make my WiFi work? I am really frustrated and will be very grateful if someone help

    Best regards

    Vlad

    Vlad.Avilov,

I have a HP Pavilion g6-1d73us running Windows 7 Home Premium with Intel Core i3 2.30 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 64-bit OS and want to upgrade my wireless WiFi 802.11ac 802.11n wifi adapter so I can also change my modem & router to the new, faster standard. The current wifi adapter I have is Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11 b/g/n wifi adapt. I studied the material on the internet and I think I want an Intel Wireless AC 7260 wifi adapter, but I don't know if it is compatible with my laptop. Could you please tell me what 802.11ac wireless card or adapter is compatible with my laptop or if I'm even able to upgrade that component. My computer works fine and has no problem. Thank you.

Sorry no. The computer HP laptop motherboard has a BIOS program that is configured to stop the boot process, if all the wireless but very specific cards is installed. In the case of your laptop, no adapter 802.11ac lies on the 'white list' to boot.

  • Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802 .11b: g:n WiFi adapter

I have a HP Envy dv6 Notebook PC, model No.2CE243OCYT.  It has an adapter for WiFi Atheros 802.11 AR9485 b:g:n. There is an update of HP of the card, but when I updated, I was unable to connect to the internet. I realize that this WiFi adapter is only 2. 5. g I had to update my laptop, then I got access to the internet again. I have not tried again this update of the driver, but just put TWC to update my cable modem to dual band by using the strips of 2.5 G and 5G.

I'm afraid to install the Atheros update in my lapotop once again because I don't want to go to parrir the hassle of re - install all my software pd [posed again.

Y at - it a HP dual band WiFi adapter is recommended, and it is easy to install?

    Thank you

Laptops are as you order them or buy them as ready to ship models. They are not generally considered to be extensible to all. You can switch from desktop computers in general as much as the platform of the motherboard and BIOS allow.

Not as far as I know, HP makes no recommendataions on laptops and usb adapters.

Just do a search online with Googl, Bing or your search engine favoriteb for major brands such as ASUS, Linksys and Netgear. Check the reviews of the candidates you find and make sure they include drivers for the operating system that you have in your laptop. NewEgg.com is a good website to csome comparison shopping.

IF you want wifi nextgen features in the usb adapter and the chance to have a router nextgen with 802.11ac capacity of 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz, then looking for the one that many people recommend.

  • Pavilion DV7-3165DX, Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter, communication and incompatibility issues

After much research, I decided to buy a Pavilion DV7-3065DX. Then, I walked to my local Best Buy to say the 3065DX had been abandoned and was no longer available for purchase. However, the 3165DX, his successor had arrived and was very similar to the previous generation. After a brief discussion to justify the increase of prices with myself, I gave and was sold.

Within hours, I was in College, trying to connect to the WiFi network without success. After several hours becoming more and more frustrated, I decided to call it closes unexpectedly. Rushing home after class, I plugged the new Linksys WRT160N, I had also bought wireless router and configured on my desk. Once completed, I tried to connect using the new Pavilion. To my surprise, it worked! (And no problem whatsoever no less). So, apparently, the wireless adapter works, but does so only on some networks.

A week later, I tried to connect to a number of public and private WiFi networks of different types with limited success. Most importantly, I am able to connect to my home network, but not to the public networks in my college or city libraries. At one point, the Office for my college indicated that my WiFi adapter is one of a handful of cards on the list of incompatible devices to their network. As it was to buy the laptop in the first place, I am extremely frustrated.

I turned to the support pages of HP for a solution. I considered a update driver despite the use of the HP Wizard to keep abreast on all software downloads and updates. To my dismay, product for the Pavilion DV7-3165DX page lists of Broadcom WiFi adapter, which does not correspond to my hardware (Atheros AR9285). What's worse, is that the manufacturer's website offers no driver downloads to customers that its site is adapted directly to product manufacturers.

At this point, I'm increased and not sure what to do. I am already attached to this laptop. Apart from the war with his fingerprints on its black and shiny chrome surfaces shiny, the problem with the Atheros WiFi card is the only problem that I had. I hate having to go through the ordeal to return, and I do not think that this problem requires the sending of the product to HP for repair. Furthermore, I believe that if it came down to one of those, I simply return the product and find my way to another product by other manufacturers in total.

This certainly isn't the experience I had hoped with my first purchase of HP.

    Any suggestions?

I have the same question... However with me the solution wasn't in the pilot. I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support, try to understand.

What it comes down to say that Atheros AR 9285 is a shi * ty wireless card. It supports 802.11n Protocol, but only 2.4 GHz (the same as the b/g frequencies). My Cysco wireless router was broadcasting 5 GHz Wireless-N and AR 9285 was not able to detect it. Once I changed the router settings to allow 2.4 GHz Wireless-N Networking, the Atheros card was able to connect under the Protocol N. However, the maximum speeds of 2.4 GHz card are slower than 5 GHz card.

I wish they would give an option to choose what wireless card to install in my laptop. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm always done what they me screwed on.

I have a Windows laptop Aspire E5-772 to 8.1 and the wifi adapter must be reset after about 12 GB of downloading files and sometimes so that the streaming of Netflix. I got this computer 2 months, and I had this problem from the beginning. I was able to dl different WiFi LAN of Atheros drivers for example - I am under Intel drivers now - but I don't know which of the other 5 choice to use. Or y at - it a setting or two that needs tweaking?

    Rick

If you have an Intel Wifi card, Atheros drivers do not work. If it has worked and you have an Intel driver, it must be Intel. Here is the latest driver to Win 8.1 Intel for E5 - 772.

  • 655 HP: I can not install wifi driver hp 655

    Hello everyone.

I hope someone will help me with this problem

I have a laptop hp 655, and I can not install its driver wifi...

I downloaded it (I tried more than drivers), and start the installation, but after only a few seconds this window with installation disappear.

I don't know what to do... Thank you very much.

It helps if you have identified the wifi adapter and let us know if the adapter is regarded as being present in the Device Manager.

You can identify it by a couple of ways.

One is to use Device Manager, and then view the string PCI\VEN. See the following image.

Another perhaps simpler method is as follows.  By pressing the power button and immediately press the ESC key to call the start menu.

Press the F1 key to call the system information window. Locate the FCC ID, WLAN.  Copy and use it in a search engine to find the driver for the installed operating system.

Don't forget to keep us in the loop.

  • Ongoing problem with my Netgear WiFi adapter and hardware software.

Please help me solve this problem, which still exists.  I even once contacted NETGEAR, but they say it's a problem for six months and it is only cosmetic in that the adapter Netgear WIFI does his job, despite the failure of the adapter Netgear WIFI Wizard appears immediately except to re - install via CD Netgear...  Read on: Although my new Netgear dual-band "N" WIFI ADAPTER works optimally and, out of curiosity, I have re-installed several times using the accompaniment CD... there is a small problem I want to solve: when I click on the WIFI adapter desktop ICON, I get a window of PSI with the message "FAILURE of SERVICE.  Yet once, WIFI actually moved and is also indicated under the programs/features and works perfectly well.  When I bring up the icon under all PROGRAMS, the same result occurs: the same message reappears: "FAILURE of SERVICE.  When I called Netgear to the Philippines call center, support staff of so-called tech advised me to ignore the message and that I was the first caller on this issue, "as long as the WIFI adapter gives you the desired signal quality and speed, just ignore... "When I pressed on others, a supervisor at the call center told me that she would pass on the information that I provided to their engineers to study the problem.  In addition, the supervisor told me that no one had contacted the Center to call on this particular issue.  Yes, I even disabled the built-in WIFI adapters (Atheros), but the 'problem' in question still exists.  Please note that it is a phenomenon of long months and that in the past whenever I clicked on the ICON, the regular Netgear Windows would come upward, including the various hot spots in option, etc. I even updated the software successfully and rebooted the laptop, according to Microsoft's Windows Update instructions.  Please let me know what is happening and how I could fix this ' cosmetic ', if that's what it is, according to Netgear support.
    Thank you very much.
