Reference Dell 8700 and 460 Watt power supply: card of the highest Performance NVIDIA supported by Dell?

What is the highest performance NVIDIA supported by Dell video card that you can put in a Dell 8700 using the stock 460 watt power supply? I put in a Geforce GT 640 in my 8700 for now but later want to upgrade without messing around with the upgrade of the power supply.

Thank you.

Hello

'Officially', with the stock power supply, the GTX960 is the highest card, you can keep on XPS8700, 400W is enough for this card (will get mine installed tomorrow... MSI GTX960 games 4 GB).

BUT, some people installed the GTX970, as well as a few model required PSU 500W min.

It is the hope to allow you to take the "risk" or not.

Remember to update your BIOS, first.

And good read on the post, here on "XPS8700 and Nvidia GTX... »

  • HP ENVY PHOENIX CTO 810-135QE - 600 watts power supply Question

In the near future, I would like to upgrade the video card in my desktop HP ENVY PHOENIX CTO 135QE-810 GT 640 default to something a little more powerful and I was wondering if there is any details about the default 600 watts power that will help me in my decision to the next video card.

I know that some video cards require a number of amps on the 12 volt rail and all the information that I have found previously on the power of 600 watts power supply in the computer is not in that kind of detail.

What I read, the power is a Petrus 600W e-star 5.0 Bronze, HP Part number 633186-002.

Any additional details and details on this power to help me determine the next video card would be useful.

On a side note the video card, I'm currently doing is one of the next Nvidia GTX 750 TI models, thoughts and recommendations on this specific map?

    Thank you

    Hello

Your PC has UEFI bios, so most video cards should work.  Some video cards will work in UEFI mode and others in legacy mode, that your PC is able to run.

When the manufacturer of the video card and/or AMD or NVIDIA specify a minimum power supply size then it is best to stick to this recommendation.  Not all power supplies are built to the same standards of quality.  In addition the internal components, temperature, charges unknown and time that the PC will be placed under the maximum load are taken into account at the recommendation of minimum power supply is indicated.

I have not seen a power of 500 watts with 12v rating of 18A, but this does not mean that there is not. And if that's the case, then the total power rating is suspect. A video card that requires an external auxiliary power connector will also draw power from the PCI-E slot.

Are there cases where the minimum size of the power supply is insufficient? Yes, those who might be extreme but someone can have connected to power different connectors either to avoid buying a new power supply or maybe around just the food manufacturer minimum power rating. Some may do it thinking 'I'm going on fox the Fox ". It can work, but maybe the questions later start occurred.  I prefer to get the job done right the first time. You don't need a power supply to perhaps of overload and short circuit then internally causing spikes to the components in the PC.

  • Can I put the Pavilion Slimline 180 Watt power supply to a 300 Watt PSU

    Of course, you can!

Here is an informational videoabout the possibilities of upgrading your slimline WHAT PSU found on YouTube.  A comparison of three power supplies, including the owner HP PSU and a (two video and CPU) stress test and comparison of noise is shown during the video.

Be aware that some, but not all, of the PSU, upgrades require a simple and light your PSU slimline support change. Change depends on the power supply model chosen for the upgrade.

Purchase an adaptor molex as HP UPE is necessary for the Slimlines using a power supply with the format owners microfit ATX 24 pin, as well as the standard for the HTPC power supply ATX 20 pin format.

Upgrade your power supply at a higher power will not damage your motherboard. A power supply will provide only so much power that is required of him by the mother and peripheral card up to the nominal power of the installed PSU.

It is for those who wondered how to work around the limitation of the low power 180 Watt power supply that most Pavilion Slimline PCs come with the Assembly. With a power SUPPLY improved, more memory and a graphics card discrete, including support (it is a requirement) your Slimline can be your gaming PC.

Selecting a graphics card is another topic. Not all graphics cards can hold in the case of a slimline. It takes a low profile video card. They are available for purchase online.

  • Pavilion a6530f: what video card installed works for Windows 10 and a 300W power supply?

I have a6530f a desktop Pavilion PC.  I am currently running Windows 7 and am interested in upgrading to Windows 10.  I get and error message when you try to install the W10.  "NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430".  I think I need to improve my video card.  Can what video card I install that will work for Windows 10 and is rated for the power supply 300W in my lap?  I'm not very techie.

Many of these inexpensive graphics cards for Newegg.com should work with Windows 10. Just watch for those who require a 300 watt power supply system or less.

Drivers for these cards may be on the page drivers GeForcefunds. Simply select the card in the drop-down list or use the "Auto-Detect".

  • Person we know what power supply is on the XPS 8300

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS 8300 and you want to buy a video card double to support two monitors.  I read a few different items to a 500 Watt power supply.  I looked on the delivery, when I bought the 8300, but it does not show the power.  Other than opening the case, is there a way I can find food that is installed?

    Thank you!!!

I think it's the same thing that the 8500 is 460W, which has two six pin PCIe power connectors.

    What exact card do you?

In addition, if you have not opened the file in a while, you could do this (outside) with a can of compressed clean air on the dust bunnies.

  • HP Pro 6000 Elite 8000: Does Hp 6000 Pro and Elite 8000 Supports 600 Watt Power Supply connector having 6 pin

I want to upgrade my suuply standard power of 300 watts to 600 watts in my two HP 6000 minitour pro and Elite 8000 Tower systems. Is the Board supports power supplies good as brand take heat?

I would not classify a Thermaltake PSU as a very good brand.

Unfortunately, your desktop PC uses an exclusive style of PSU, so standard ATX PSU will not work.

Upgrading the owners 300 Watt PSU 600W ATX POWER supply is not just going to work.

Your desktop PC is one that is not very conducive to the upgrade.

  • Aurora r5 stock heatsync voltage problems with evga modular 750 watt power supply

The stock fan on the heat sink thermal condition of the R5 Aurora stock runs just as fast as it can while holding a 6700 k, you mind, at a steady temperature around 30 C idle. Previous the cpu and psu were almost silent, whereas now the fan seems to run to rpm max powered an EVGA 750 watt p2 modular power unit cpu1 slot. How can I reach the bios to lower the fan speed?

Yet, I am not "awake" not until the Caffè Verona + mix roast French kick. I do not have the model of your computer, but your service PDF manual available for download on the R5 Dell.com support page lists the Bios options, lists the right place to connect the fan to & lists the keyboard button to push to enter the Menu of the Bios. At a time like this, I could put back the original power supply in there, confirm the fan installs, if so, replace the new power supply in, see if again deploys spazzes

but I don't think it's the power supply

If your bios menu has no control of the fan speed, a swap of psu se do not spin faster or slower radiator fan. If you have ordered the 6700 k to the Fund, you would have power 850w. If you have installed the 6700 k yourself, using pneumatic radiator, it is possible the 95 watt cpu needs best, as the cooling liquid cooling. I see you're at 30 c idle, but it seems that the fan is bad fan... header check than 1st, see options in photo here: Alienware Aurora R5 - fan CPU 100%

    • Edit: @Hockeytown messaged me: "I eventually replaced the H80i Corsair GT for a 550LC Asetek ebay OEM pump. "This has solved my problem of fan and I am now able to connect via the (Top_fan + Pump_fan) factory setting and not errors.
    • @Hotarri installed Corsair H60

It is possible, the motherboard as expected 'react' different when deleting in the 6700 k; It is possible that since 6700 k factory liquid cooled, the spazzes motherboard when the owner puts 6700 k themselves but without cooling liquid, such as a small problem, uses one table different fan / or a set of parameters of the fan speed (6700 k + pneumatic radiator = incompatibility) that hopefully you can change in the Bios somehow somewhere but maybe not

It is possible that you can hand-place 3rd fan header 'pump', trying to fool the mother board, lol, see if the cpu fan slows down as a test. Still, I do not have this model, I think that the motherboard that waits for a signal fan/tachometer on the header of the pump in response to 6700 k, good luck with it

post a photo of your swap 750 for us when you get it figured out (=

  • p6203w M/N - 250 Watt power supply, to be upgraded.

This model slimline I, p6203w, contains a small 250 Watt PSU.  I want to improve, but I fear that the new power supply may be too much physically.

I know that I could just leave it outside the PC, but I prefer to have it mounted properly.  Are there updates available that will be adapting the standard framework p6203w?

    Thank you

    Hello

The p6203w is not a slimline but a model middle of the tower.

You need to open your PC and measure the physical dimensions of your diet. Here is a list of the things to consider:
    1. technical characteristics
    2. the total power - important
    3. amperage 12 + v - important
4 modular - is not required, but I like the flexibility
    5. guarantee
    6 i7 and SLI ready
    7. energy efficiency
    8 cost
    9. size - standard ATX PSU is 5.5 "by 5.9" by 3.4 "give or take a few tenths
    10. a single + 12 volt rail is a better choice.

www.Newegg.com has many choices of power supplies. Corsair, OCZ, Rosewill, Thermaltake...

    Hello

I have a notebook nc4200 who needs a new power supply.  I chatted with a HP consultant and he said I could use one of the new 90W slim smart adapters for it, but who has 19.5V output (whereas the original adapter 65W 18.5V).  Smart «Say» network adapters they are retro-compatible with all professional laptops from HP.  How is it important to make coincide the tensions?  The laptop can compensate for differences of +-1 volt?  Thank you!

    Hello

For voltage, + or - 5%-7% is ok, for power 90W is much better than 65W. Should be allowed to use the new charger.

We install the grid using the GUI installation program grid. When you perform a new installation of the Infrastructure of grid 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 in a new server, I want to apply its latest PSU as well. When should I do this task PSU?
    A. Should I apply the GI PSU after the entire Grid installation is successfully completed ?
    or
    B. Should I apply the GI PSU just before running the root.sh ?
ie. when the installer prompts you to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)

At this stage(before running root.sh) the GI binaries are in place . So , I can apply the PSU on these binaries? Right?
Should I follow option A or B above?

    Hello

Should a. I apply the PSU IM after the installation of the grid ends successfully?

Yes, you must complete the successful installation and after apply PSU

    B. can I apply the PSU im just before you run the root.sh?
That is to say. When the installation program prompts to run root.sh (see the screenshot below)
    http://husnusensoy.files.WordPress.com/2009/10/camtasiastudio351.PNG
At this point (before you run the root.sh script) GI binaries are in place. So, can I apply the power supply on these binaries? Right?

Yes, you must complete (close) runInstaller after root.sh, so you can ask the PSU, because if you start with YES opatch (runInstaller) runs the inventory will be locked.

Also, you have an opportunity to decide if you want to use the software upgrades during the Installation.

YES can install updates patch reviews, requirements system updates (hardware, operating system settings and packages of core) for the operating systems supported and other important updates that can help ensure that your installation is going smoothly. Oracle recommends that you enable the software updates during the installation.

If you choose to enable the software updates, and then during installation you must provide valid My Oracle Support username and password during installation, so that YES can download the latest updates, or you must provide a path to the location of a software updates package you downloaded previously.

If you plan to run the installation in a secure data center, so you can download updates before you start the installation by starting YES on a system that has Internet access to download update mode. To start YES to download updates, enter the following command:

    $ ./runInstaller -downloadUpdates

Provide My Oracle Support user name and password and provide the parameters of the proxy if necessary. After downloading the updates, transfer the update file to a directory on the server where you plan to run the installation.

  • 90 watts vs 65 watt power supply

All systems with a dedicated graphics card require power of 90W for the operation. A 65W PS simply not provide enough power for a system with dedicated graphics card to operate at full capacity - attention that there is a situation when the computer is in use--which could cause problems with the computer. While the stop, the watt low appreciation PS will charge your system, though more slowly indeed.

  • The Portege 7020CT power supply works with the dock?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Portege 7020CT (I know its old)
I would buy a Toshiba PA3007E-1DST on eBay!
In the description of sellers on eBay, it is written that a power supply is not included!
So he lies to be included power supply? Or am I ment to use my laptop Portege of power?

    All responses are greatly appreciated!

    Thank you

Eh, it's really amazing that someone still use this old machine Portege. I hope it works perfectly.
If I m remembering well at the back of this port replicator is the DC power connector, so you should be able to use the AC for your Portege power cable and connect it to the port replicator.

The connector must be the same.

  • Adding a new power supply will void the warranty

    Hello

I would like to replace the power supply 350w comes with the HP Pavilion p6-2378.  I have a 500w I'd replace it with.  Will this void my warranty?  This is the standard of 1 year.  I do that so that I can put a secondary graphics (AMD Radeon 4650 [assuming there is enough electricity to 500w?]) and take advantage of the GPU power and additional outputs. Then, would it be making void my warranty?

    Thank you

Upgrade your PC with approved HP and parts supplied will not void your warranty.

However, if you upgrade your PC with parts that are not approved HP and HP determines that the changes caused failure HP is not required to honor the warranty.

Some PC outside the United States are delivered with seals and if broken the warranty is voided.  I have yet to see the seals on the PC of American consumers.
