Hi melrose15,

The 968W AIO printer is not compatible with windows OS 8.

Please click here to check the compatibility of printers: http://dell.to/170M3BP

However, try to install 64-bit of Windows 7 in compatibility mode on Windows 8 computer drivers by following the listed below as follows:

Click on this link: http://dell.to/155CQMe

Click on the downloaded file, and then save the file to the desktop. right click the drivers file, left click on properties and compatibility of the left click. Change the compatibility based on the drivers / software you are trying to install (if the drivers/software is Windows 7 64 bit, then try using 8 64-bit Windows). Then right-click on the drivers, on the left, click Run as administrator.

Note: Do NOT check the box run this program as an administrator and do not connect the printer to the computer before installing the drivers.

Please post the results.

    Hello-

I am posting this for a neighbor who called for assistance with this printer very old.  It uses your desktop Acer Veriton wireless connection at his home router.

It was on Windows 7 Home and the printer worked very well.  He bit on the free Windows 10 Home can offer upgrade of Microsoft and went through.  It's about 1 month and a half ago.  The AIO 926 actually worked very well under Windows 10 Home 64 bit without user intervention, according to him.  Then one day last week, the printer stopped working and that's where I got.

I know there are a lot of articles and posts here with RockStar Rick K is heavily involved.  I read the most before going to his house.  So, I took a quick glance to the queue to print the Windows user interface.  He had two jobs in the queue with the top of the front page showing 'Error' and the second showing "sent to the printer.  I have cleared both by using the Windows user interface. I then unplugged the printer to the USB port and also off it.  I unplug the power cable from the wall.  Let stand 5 minutes then pressed and held in the power button to erase the bad karma.

I then ran the printer queue script permission.  No errors.  I tried to run printer removal utility.  Let him ride for a good 45 minutes with the sign "Please wait...". ».  After that long task was always to 'Running' poster, but I didn't trust that.  I killed him to this place.  Now, here's what I don't know.

Use the set of drivers Vista 32 bit?  I tried and extraction & implemented crossed.  I see only the driver scanner in devices and printers.  Ok.  Connected the printer to the power.  Was left unplugged USB port.  At the printer.  Plugged in USB then and of course the printer showed in printers and devices as well as the scanner set previously.  Software Dell will print its own test page.  But the printer has a yellow exclamation mark on it and on hover Windows reports "Driver is unavailable".  So that failed.

Use the Vista 64 bit driver set?  Check the print queue and the Windows Test Page shows "Printing error" and I erased only through Windows.  I have re-directed the Dell printer clean utility.  Once again a long long wait (I went to lunch) and came back to this same panel "Please Wait".  Because I didn't know how long to let it run again, I killed him.  At least half an hour.  Disconnected USB printer and the wall.  Then, I downloaded and run the 64-bit set of drivers for Vista.  Yet once, it crosses looking like it installed correctly.  Printers and peripherals shows the scanner only - I think that's normal.  Printer media leave for 5 minutes.  Key for 10 seconds. Printer back up, looks very good.  Introduced the USB printer.  After a few moments checking printers and devices and the printer upwards, but once again with a yellow exclamation point and hover shows "Driver not available.

What is the assessment here?  What hurts and what I can change in terms of the sequence of the application of this set of drivers or software?  And more importantly, which one should I use: 32 or 64 bit?

    Hoibie

With 10 windows and the Dell AIO 966, I was able to print test pages but nothing else. While the I'll still get protection faults trying to reach the printer properties, initially cancelling the warnings and to decline the invitation to install the driver (again), I finally get to the properties of the printer. By selecting the 'Advanced' tab, the default setting for the print processor was "GLT", so I changed it to "NT EMF 1,008" and it prints very well. " Still some problems with rundll32.exe errors, but now they are a nuisance, but otherwise everything works.

  • Reference Dell Webcam Central and Windows XP (also Windows 7)

For all the frustrated Dell customers out there who bought Dell computers delivered with Dell Webcam Central, only to have the application stops working with the built-in webcam ("Please plug in a supported webcam"), here is the link to a recent version of the Dell Webcam Central application:

It is version 1.40.05.  This is the full installation, not an upgrade and includes the "Live!" Cam Avatar Creator software.  I have installed this package on my Inspiron 1012 running Windows XP Home Edition, and it works perfectly.  It is also the same version that shipped with my Studio 1558 running under Windows 7 64-bit.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think that the problem is caused when Windows Automatic Updates installs a new integrated version of the webcam driver (this is a Microsoft driver).  The old version of Webcam Central (such as 1.06 or earlier version) does not recognize the updated driver level.

Don't bother download the 'DellWebcamSW' that Support Dell continues to try to direct me to via "tinyurl.com" (http://ftp.us.dell.com/app/DellWebcamSW.exe) - it is a version older that that delivered with my Inspiron 1012 and therefore will not even install.

Dell really needs to pull together their support, at least when it comes to software.  They had download me Dell Webcam Central (at least three or four times), they sent me a CD to install the Dell Webcam Central, they even sent me a new hard drive previously imaged.  Downloads and CD always contains the same version that came bundled with my 1012, or even older, even though I told them I needed a newer version, and the new hard drive do not even have the application installed (I sent the new rear drive and kept my old drive).

And don't bother looking on the site drivers and downloads (whether through the service tag or computer model).  He is not here, for my Inspiron 1012 or my Studio 1558, or for any other model of computer, I looked.  (The Inspiron 1012 list includes even not all the same drivers that requires my computer.)

  • Dell Precision 390 and Windows 7 64 bit driver support

We have a Dell Precision 390 and want to pass this to a Windows 7 64-bit operating system.  Several months ago, I noticed driver support for Windows 7 64-bit for the Dell Precision 390 model but pilot at the moment the site and downloads not support all these drivers for Windows 7.  It seems that the support has been removed.  At best, it supports only Windows Vista 64-bit.  Can someone explain why there is no support driver for Dell Precision 390 for the 64-bit Windows 7 platform?

    Tony

I have a Dell Precision 390 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit loaded just fine and it is running.

It is strongly suggested that you do a clean install.

So I wiped my HD (after backing up personal files). Don't come to format your drive, I mean totally wipe it.

Automatic updates will install the drivers you need for any connected device or visit the manufacturers for your drivers.

So in short, "Don't sweat it".

Go ahead and download this puppy goes for a few years.

  • Reference Dell 968 AIO, Windows 7 on Dell Studio XPS - messed up

I have a Dell 968 AIO which was printing on the use of pilots (probably the original) on my Dell XPS Studio 8000 Win 7 pc, a week ago. He stopped printing a few days ago.

I assumed the problem was the drivers and not the ink. So I tried to install the new drivers. It does not solve the problem. Indeed, the new drivers would not install completely. When he got to the last step of the installation the Setup program just hung. More on this in a minute.

I bought new ink cartridges and allowed me to test the 968 printer and it prints very well now.

However, when I tried to print a document from the computer.

I tried to uninstall the old drivers and reinstall new drivers. Unfortunately, I got the USB cable is plugged. So I have messed up, and it would not print. He could not "locate the file. I tried after I unplug the USB stick and a running registry cleaning. Still no luck, but worse, I noticed that the installers had left a lot of luggage around.

    • There is a folder c:/dell/drivers/986, which seems to have a lot of the old drivers.
    • There was a folder c:/program files (x 86) /Dell AIO Printer 968
    • And there is also a folder c:/program files (x 86) (x 86) /Dell 968 AIO Printer.

I followed the steps for a clean uninstall, and it is where I am now. However, there a lot of carrying files around in Dell matter folders on my hard drive.

I'm sure I made a complete mess of things, can anyone help?

    Wendy

    Wendy,

When you reinstalled the operating system, have you installed the desktop system software / laptop (as appropriate) and drivers from the chipset first? If this is not the case, the rest of the drivers will not install. How to download and install drivers in the correct order

Start with the computer system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Once you have corrected, then we can work on the printer.

First run, delete print jobs to eliminate any print job stuck in the queue.

    Unplug the printer.

Download and run the patch (cleaning printer utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure that the printer is deleted. Driver Manual printer removal

Download the 32-bit drivers for Vista for Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64 bit Vista. Install the Vista drivers in Vista compatibility mode, you will get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at the moment (power on).

Hi all... Having a problem a new Alienware computer to connect to an existing network of Wireless Printer.  We have a computer Dell desktop and router Linksys Dell 966 AIO Printer.  The printer is hard plugged to computer Dell desktop, as well as the router.  The router is wireless to 3 other laptops (Dell, Dell Mini Inspiron and new Dell Alienware age) and an iPad.  No harm to connect to wireless devices and all work on the network and throughout the House.  The oldest of the 3 laptops Dell WILL print wireless.  No matter what we try, we cannot get the Inspiron Mini and the new Alienware to locate the wireless printer.  Yet once, no. PROBLEM with wireless internet, but wireless for printing only WILL happen!   We can of course plug in a printer and print with a hard link... but that's not the point of owning a wireless printer!   Dell told me that they "can't stop" with devices... Can someone HELP please... Wits End!

    Lisa

Hello and thanks for your attempt to help.  I solved the problem, late last night.  After reading some of your other 966 suggestions to other issues, I've updated my Firmware on the router and rebooted, deleted ALL my drivers printer (from all the computers of 4!), deleted the cache print on all machines and downloaded the printer drivers for all of the latest machines.  Then I installed one by one.  First of all the wired (USB) connection to the computer from the network, and then installed the printer on the old Dell laptop uses the new driver and the "ADVANCED SETUP" option then made 2 other laptops in the same way, leaving the laptop most current for the end.  I almost screamed when I clicked on the test print button and a page started the queue!  I have 4 computers connected to the Linksys router and all network print them now... 1 via USB and 3 wireless!  Thanks again!

  • Dell Precision m6600 and Windows 10

Y at - there no confirmation of anyone who Windows 10 works on Precision Mobile Workstation M6600?

There is no drivers for Windows 8.1 and I never managed to make it work properly with Windows 8.1. VMWare Workstation would crash, blue screens, etc. This is because there is no drivers for this model of Dell for Windows 8.1 released.    But will it be the same story with Windows 10?

I can confirm that Windows 10 works on the M6600. I just upgraded my M6600 and Windows 10 in fact improved some drivers and improved my way of computer work.

From the moment I bought my Logitech H800 headset, I couldn't match directly with the laptop through Bluetooth. The USB receiver was still necessary. As soon as I have upgraded to Windows 10 my H800 has been recognized and immediately connected!

There are two small problems that scared me at first. WIFI or Bluetooth worked immediately after the upgrade to Windows 10. I don't know why this happened but I am simply gone network adapters and disabled, then reactivated each of them. After reactivated the WIFI started working with Bluetooth

  • HP J4680 AiO: HP J4680 AiO and Windows 10

Installed 10 Windows from Windows 7, installation went well, with only two points.

HP is my printer/scanner HP J4680 AiO will print but not scan more solutions center program comes with a white screen.   I followed the instructions given to Brian in the previous post.

    -authorized temporary folder

-installed v14.8.0 hp full feature software and drivers

The printer works well (do not fax set up system have) but the scan does not work.   When I try to use the solution Center, I get a white screen.  Right-click on the screen and the compatibility test running can do nothing.

System has worked in Win 7, but not win 10.

Just to try a work-around, I tried running Win fax and scan and received the message... cannot communicate with the documents folder.

    Suggestions?

    Thanx

Hi, after contacting Richard Bradley, HP VP, he put me incontact with a live support person.     Bottom line after trying to install the HP J4680 AIO we have determined that the drivers are not available in Windows 10, also that the application of scanning and Capture will not work effectively either.   Part of the J4680 printer will work but not the scanner.    After reviewing several other brands, I see that the same thing is happening with their current printers / alumni.   The HP representative said that new pilots could come out in October until January.

So I decided to go back to windows 7 which was easy, there is an application in the control panel.  Once there I still had the same problems with the printer, so I deleted all the programs of HP printer, turned off the firewall and antivirus program (do this first, incidentally).  I had try to install and remove several times but after several hours was able to get the printer works as it should.

I'll wait 10 windows drivers may be available.

After writing to Mr. Bradley, a response was quick and the accompaniment of the victim has been most helpful and knowledgeable.  I had criticized HP and their market after service, but frankly, I was impressed by this gesture.

  • 4700 series AIO and Windows 7 (32 bit)

Just bought a C4780 AIO because it was supposed to be compatible with Windows 7. The bottom line... the software on the download section of the HP Web site will not be installed. It will start to install but it goes just in a loop, stalls and that's all. I tried almost everything. The software is for Windows XP, Windows Vista & Windows 7, I tried to disable UAC, run as ADMIN, safe mode & compatibility mode. The only way I got this thing to work is simply by adding printer and used the drivers that I downloaded. It will print but forget using print wireless function. I have disabled all anti-virus and vaious other things, no chance, not going just in a loop control system, apply updates, at the beginning, then audit system etc etc.

Well... Finally got this figured out. A number of things you need to do: turn off the antivirus... During the beginning of the dialog box install a box provides some links to configure updates etc. Make sure that you disable all update options... Installation will continue but may pick up, move the current install of the road window and click "OK" about Adobe Flash Player. Everything began to work, including wireless printing. Set up my daughters computer to print wireless, worked great.

  • Dell Latitude d630 and Windows 7

Does anyone know why Dell does not support Win7 on a Dell Latitude d630?

This machine was built with Windows Vista 32 - bit o/s on 24 November 2008. The date of the original invoice was on May 22, 2009. Win7 was not released until October 2009. The guy I bought it from had installed Win7 and I don't have the disks of backup or restore with it. It works fine except it doesn't have enough RAM, (which is not a big deal). The problems occurred when I tried to update the drivers and found that there is no driver for this model with Win7. When I called Dell, they said that they do not support Win7 on this laptop.

So I was just curious to know if anyone knew why? I won't lose money, upgrading the RAM if Win7 is going to be a problem.

Although W7x86 lists 1 GB as the minimum, I found 2GB for the sweet spot minimum.

More RAM is always a good investment, and even if you decide not to run W7 on this PC (I hope that your friend bought the license outright to pass on to you), more RAM will be beneficial to XP, Ubuntu or another OS, you decide to run on it.  However, more RAM is unable to completely cure your slow, because this might be a result (partially or totally) infections by malware, software problems, corruption of the file system or a bad hard drive... a reinstall to your specifications may be in order.

You can also try searching the forums (or Internet) to get an idea of real world experiences.  I think that there should be no problem... I managed a few s D830 (similar systems - a step towards the top, but even age/line) at work who has installed and have run W7 flawless.

  • Audio problem with Dell Latitude E6420 and Windows 8.1

    Hello community,

I installed Windows 8.1 on my Latitude E6420 and I can get the sound to work. I installed the drivers available for Windows 8, but he doesn't play any sounds. The only thing that works continuously via a browser (e.g. youtube). When I test the device "speakers / headphones ' this is for me a"Failed to play test sound."but the"helmet of communication"device works without any problem.

I can not activate the device "speakers / headphones" because it blocks other applications (Lync 2013) so I have to keep this option disabled.

I look on the web for similar problems and it all points to the drivers for the video card (!)

Is there a version of driver for this model? Or I can not use the latest version of the software in this model?

Hello. See here for a list of Dell of the models that work with 8 and 8.1. Dell recommends not installing 8.1 on the Latitude E6420 model. Dell said 8 is correct but does not provide an audio driver IDT even for 8. I don't think that there will be provided by any Dell IDT audio driver for 8.1 since it is not recommended to install. This means that you must use the native audio driver supplied with Windows. The native driver is generic and you can usually get audio to work when using it but not all functions are working properly. All I can suggest is to find the generic audio driver in Device Manager (I don't know how it is in the list) and try to 'update' by allowing Windows to search for an update on the internet.

Maybe someone at our Windows 8 jury can suggest an audio driver IDT, you can try to use. If you post here tell them that you already posted on the Audio card to the laptop so that they will not move your message here.
