Reinstall XP Professional Retail with the XP Professional SP2 retail installation CD

I'm going to build a new PC and I'll dismantle an old PC and re-use XP from this PC to the new PC. The problem is that the old PC installation CD is Windows XP Professional Retail without any service packs. I would like to avoid having to install all 3 service packs for Windows XP. I have a XP Professional SP2 Retail installation CD. What I want to do, it is use XP Professional SP2 retail installation CD and install using the XP Professional Retail product key. I read through all 27 pages of questions who responded and based on what I've read, I think I can do this, but I wanted to check before I do it. It seemed as long as the version was the same and they were both the same sales channel that it would work. Both my copies are professional XP and both are full retail versions. So, can I use the installation CD XP Professional SP2 retail with XP Professional Retail with no Service Packs product key? Thank you.

  • Problem with the Canon LBP 1120 printer installation driver

    Hello

I have a machine running 64-bit vista Home premium. and I have a Canon LBP-1120 printer. This printer is in good shape and I don't want to buy another printer.
But the problem is that the only driver that there is, is for Vista 32 bit. And when I try to install, I get the error message saying that I need 64-bit drivers.
I'll be happy even with basic print function because I do not do more printing.
Looked everywhere on the web... good .no
A workaround solution would help me a LOT!

    1. are you able to print successfully?

    3. What were the recent hardware changes performed on the computer before the question software ro?

A Windows Vista 64 Bit operating system is compatible in installation of 32-bit drivers. All the 64-bit version operating systems have the ability to run 32-bit applications, but on a version 32-bit operating system, you are limited to only 32-bit software.

According to the information on the website of Canon, Canon provides only the 32-bit drivers for Canon LBP 1120 printer, 64-bit drivers are always expected. To improve assistance to the topic to download driver 64 bit I ask you to contact Canon.

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

(How to back up and restore the registry in Windows)

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers

To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows Vista. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click on continue.

    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\ {GUID}

    3. in this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.

    4. on the Edit menu, point to new, and then click DWORD (32-bit) value.

    5. in the new area #1, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle and press ENTER.

6 right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, then click on modify.

    7. in the value data box, type 1 and then click OK.

    8. close the registry editor.

By setting this registry key to 1, Windows Vista's trying to get an IP address using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, he will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.

    Hope this information is useful.

Let me know if it worked.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

  • How reinstall it securely Acrobat with the same license after upgrading to OS? I don't want to lose my license.

I purchased 2 licensed of Acrobat and installed 1 of them on my portable office.

In a few weeks, my computer laptop OS will become win 7 home premium to win 7 professional.

Our technician COMPUTER said that I might have to reinstall Acrobat later.

My Question is: How do I reinstall Acrobat safely without the risk of losing my license due to suspicion of piracy?

    Hi Shantysukmawati,

You need to 'Turn off' the license first before the upgrade of the laptop on the other, it will increase the number of activations when you reinstall Acrobat.

You can 'turn off' the software by launching "Acrobat" and by going to the "Help" menu

  • I get a repeated error on install Platform Update For Windows Vista (KB971644). Fails with the error code 80073AA2. Installation comes from Windows Update.

Windows Update loops round and round constantly to not set up correctly, then restores the changes

Do I need to install the System Update Readiness Tool KB 947821?

Probably not: I had a lot of doubt that SP2 is installed if KB947821 has not already been installed.

Given that this problem is after a fairly recent install of SP2...

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for Windows Vista, but only for Service Pack 2 (SP2). This support, initially planned to end on November 26, 2009, has been postponed until February 26, 2010, so move on! Availability of support chat or messaging differs depending on your location. Some questions may require that more support for which he is advanced a charge.  Go to http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?prid=13014&gprid=582034 & select appropriate category (i.e., download problem;) Installation problem; Problems after installing a service pack <=pick this=""> ).

In the case opposite & whereas KB971644 is NOT a security update, you can simply hide the "thing":

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator >
    (type or copy/paste) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its content
    Close the window.

3 start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step). Windows Update |  View the updates available (or Select the updates installed): right click on the (platform) update for Windows Vista (KB971644) | Click hide update | Confirm the prompt UAC (User Account Control), if any, & OK your way out.

    4. start the automatic updates service:

Start > Right click on run , and then select run as administrator > services.msc (type) > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click Start
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

    =====================================
To restore/show updates for Vista: Start | Control Panel | System maintenance and (if you use Classic view, skip this step) | Windows Update | Restore hidden updates: Find and select the update you want to install. Click restore. You can now select once again it and install through the normal process.

NB: If KB971644 were available for download/installation manual (and is not), I would have you try it.

  • Reinstall Windows 8.1 on the W3-810 Iconia

    Hello

I have some problems with my Acer Iconia W3 running Windows 8.1 retail. A malfunction of many functions of Windows. The Download Center Office gives weird and Windows errors tells me that my Microsoft account must be verified. I want to reinstall Windows 8.1 without the recovery partition, because I think that the Acer crap cause malfunction of the connection and the problems of SkyDrive. I am experienced in computer SCIENCE and I know what I'll do. I've already updated my UEFI version 1.07 (latest).

I intend to install Windows Enterprise 8.1 with a USB key. But I have never done this on a tablet before. Are there things I should know about? I mean the differences between installation 8.1 of Windows on an ordinary pc and Acer Iconia W3-810?

Another option is to reinstall Windows 8.1 kernel by using the function "All delete and reinstall Windows" in combination with the original DVD of Windows 8.1 retail x 86. I need the DVD because the function uses the files on the DVD to reinstall Windows 8.1.

I prefer the Windows Enterprise 8.1 option. Or do I have to use the recovery partition to revert to Windows 8 and upgrade to Windows 8.1?

Whatever you think I should do? My current installation does not work for me either.

    Managed relocation!

It was not very difficult. Also, you need a USB mouse but the touchscreen does not work when installing.

    Here are the steps:

    1. create a bootable USB drive that is compatible with the UEFI GPT partition table. You can do this by using the tool Rufus.

2 turn on the Tablet and when the Acer logo appears, press .

    3. use the mouse to access the start menu tab and adjust the boot sequence by moving the USB drive to the first entry.

    4. save the changes and the Tablet starts from the USB key.

    5. wait a few minutes to complete the USB boot.

    6. install Windows as you do on an ordinary pc. CAUTION: DO NOT DELETE THE PARTITION ON THE SSD! Only, you must format the Windows partition and select this partition to install Windows. DO NOT REMOVE OR EDIT OTHER PARTITIONS! They are necessary for recovery and UEFI support.

7 activate Windows with your license.

8 install the drivers to download them from the support site. For the current drivers, click here (February 11, 2014): click on! Unzip the file that is stored in the zip file. Install all the drivers at the same time by running the installation file. Restart the tablet to make the changes take effect. Give the tablet a few minutes to restart.

9 install updates you that Windows Update offers.

    Fact!

My tablet now works like a charm! I won 6 GB of free space. I have 16 GB of free space now instead of 10 GB(32 GB version). The Tablet is also much faster and it reacts much more quickly! Bedbugs have also disappeared.

    My problem is solved!

  • Associating the play with the program file

When you try to run MS Flight Simulator X Standard (with the two SP1 & SP2) since the Games Explorer in Vista Ultimate (32 bit) I get an error message to set an association of program in the control panel all Associations. As a matter of fact, all the games in my game Explorer display this message.

I know how to define associations, I do not know what extensions of file (or files) to associate with what programs.

I associated the extensions '.flt' and '.fssave' to program Microsoft Flight Simulator (followed by the little 'R' trademark symbol). I found in program files-> Microsoft-> MS Flight Simulator Games, it's the Simulator.exe flight. Yet I still get the error message. Shouldn't she have joined when I installed the program from the disk I bought?

I have also used the disk to do a "Repair Installation", has not improved the situation.

    FZT,
When you open Games Explorer and try to launch a game by double-clicking on the icon or clicking the play option in the task pane, the following error message may appear:
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set Associations control panel.

However, you can run the game using the shortcut on the start menu.

This happens if the IsShortcut registry value for .lnk (shortcut) file is deleted in an attempt to hide the overlay icon in the shortcut. To resolve this problem, re-create the IsShortcut registry value.

    Method 1
Download and apply the fix for the binding of the .lnk file available from several third-party online sites.  Search for "vista Explorer game associations."

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

    Method 2
    1. Click Start, type regedit.exe and press ENTER

    2. navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile
    3. in the right pane, create a string (REG_SZ) named IsShortcut value

    4. close the registry editor and restart Windows.

Change the settings of the REGISTRY can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the REGISTRY settings configuration can be solved. Changes to these settings are at your own risk

I hope this information is useful for your problem.  Let us know if you need help.

  • hostsvc: called with the DISP invalid/missing entry

If I try to follow links in one of the e-mails I get from Big Brother, I get the following message is displayed:

hostsvc: called with the DISP invalid/missing entry

    This is the full URL.

    Please see: http://servername/bb/cgi-bin/hostsvc.exe?HOSTSVC=server1, companyname.svcs, & DISP

I noticed that the text of the e-mail message contains an = sign, which is not part of the hyperlink. If I understand the = the link works then. For example:

    See example: http://servername/bb/cgi-bin/hostsvc.exe?HOSTSVC=server1, companyname.svcs, & DISP=

I did the search. Here's what's happening with the Outlook 2007 SP2 calendering of BB notifications, so that the & DSP = part of the bond is converted to & DSP without the = in the link to the notification.

This deformation occurs only when a SMS is received, which has a text version of a link HTML in there and it is received by Exchange 2007 with Outlo0k 2007.

When outlook 2007 (sp2 in our case) will receive an email with a link inside HTML text, it makes a "best body format.

Conversion. You always have an email in text format, but there is a HTML link truncated in the recipe, which has not only = inside.

This only happens when the text is converted to HTML.

I even tried hard put forced HTML or RTF format on the mailbox... no go... He did force these formats. but the text to html conversion happens broken Similarly, regardless of the size of the mailbox.

If messages would be in HTMl, it would work perfectly. Maybe one day you could make this an option... the message in text or html format. (development

    request)

If I paste the link in an html format email, it works very well. Also, if I find the message and click the link in the notification with Outlook Web Access, it works very well.

Only from Outlook 2007, Microsoft changed the default HTML rendering, used by Word 2007 engine. That's the problem. It is this rendering engine that has the problem, a lot of people are very annoyed and Microsoft does not care to fix it.

So far we have the option for sending to HTML, or Microsoft fixes some of this.

the only option we have is to get the wrong message from: hostsvc: called with the DISP invalid/missing entry, then to go into the browser and add in the '=' manually, and it will then visit the link in the notification.

Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you

    Hi Milt

Well, in hostsvc.exe, he could accept a missing DISP (or deformed) and defaults to «» This should be the solution. I don't think that it could break anything if it were this way.
