Reinstallation problem

I am trying to reinstall vista from a recovery on my Dell laptop drive (cheap Dell has no power discs!). I reboot and go into the repair of my computer, it comes up with a login for 'User' screen profile does not exist on the pc, which in fact there is only one user and is no password for the account that I use! The machine had a virus and I have the scan and clean the system using several antivirus (AVG, Malwaarebytes, all versions of full track). No one knows how to get around this other user login that is my way. Have you tried the administrator as a name of user and several other combinations?

By relocation do you mean own installation of OS or the Toshiba recovery procedure?

After the OS installation running a system Toshiba the serial key recovery is not necessary because the image of the 'system' will be activated if you connect to the laptop computer to the internet for the first time.

  • Activation of Windows 7 after reinstallation problem

So, a few weeks ago, my laptop has been infected with something, and my bf suggested resinstalling the operating system to wipe the computer clean, so we did. We used his copy of the full edition of Windows 7 that he had bought in a bookshop on campus. Jump in now, I realize that I have to activate windows and try to do it with the product of his cd key. When it starts to turn on, it says "the following error occurred while trying to use the product key: Code: 0xC004F061 Description: the Software Licensing Service determined that this specified product usable only key for the upgrade, not for new installations." Because this does not work, I used the key on the back of my laptop. Then he said: "the product key you entered will not work with this edition of Windows 7." You must run the installation of Windows 7 or enter a product key Windows 7 Ultimate. »

If I'm screwed? I'll have to go and buy ANOTHER copy of Windows 7 Ultimate so I can have a 'legitimate' Windows copy, even if it already is legit? Help, please. Thank you.

    Hello

Check your level of service current pack...

    • Hold down the Windows (between Ctrl and Alt) key and press Pause break
    • Examine what is listed in the system: section

If there is no service pack designated first level you must download SP2 from...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=28

.. .and then run the downloaded program to install SP2.

Once you have done this, or if you were already in service pack 1, 1a or 2, then install SP3 by downloading and running from...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

For both of the above, you can ignore the text that says it's for network installations and also ignore the text advising windows/microsoft update if a single update of a PC.

So try and get up-to-date with the Windows updates.

  • reinstallation of software problem

I have a Photosmart C7180 connected to 2 computers HP laptop (both Vista Edition running Home premium 64) all (including the all-in-one) with "Wifi" - recently one of cell phones is is no longer able to use the functions of scanning (get "an unexpected internal error has occurred") the other laptop works very well - the computer laptop problem, the printer works and I am able to use the scanner via the web interface , but the diagnostic program of digitization of reports that WIA does not, hangs using twain scan and reports that "some software components are missing' - I tried several uninstalls / reinstalls the software (both from the original CD and software downloaded, including run as administrator, disable the anti-virus and stop the firewall) - whenever the results are the same.

Telephone technical support had not any solution - and in fact completed the call without all the tips

Technical support by email guard you respond with instructions to uninstall/reinstall "boilerplate" - I asked for information on install logs so that I might be able to determine the cause - answers are always 'mat' - I found many log files (mostly in ProgramData\HP\Installer) which contained some error messages - I would be happy if useful poster

Today, it's everyday printer - can one of the 75 'experts' would you please help me solve this problem - I get? -What software may conflict with the installation? (as far as I know these are relatively vanilla Vista facilities plan)

It is fixed (sort of)! -seems that an update that is described by the other posters for various all-in-one did the trick.

Update: "Critical update to enhance reliability of network and USB connectivity and improve system responsiveness while printing" (slp_dd_hathi_110_017.exe) which has been published on the site of HP support for other printers (e.g. C6180) and was NOT displayed for the C7180 did the trick.

After an uninstallation and reinstallation of the feature and pilot the last together, I applied the patch and add the device (new)

After the HP Solution Center works for scanning - digitizing WIA still does not work, but at least I have the scanner at the back.

When asked if the fix above to the C7180 HP email support would not answer - it's funny, all the software and patches (except this one) posted on the support for the C7180 and the C6180 web site are the same size and date (they are same?-an another email support question would not answer) yet this hotfix is not posted for the C7180.

Fortunately for this forum - HP support seems to have less information than the posters here.

  • Apple support has been unable to solve my problem with iTunes not responding do not. He started all of a sudden. A few weeks after I've upgraded to Windows 10. Reinstalles/uninstalled iTunes and nothing. Now, I can't even Apple support for help.

All the sudden, iTunes has stopped responding. I click top and nothing. I spent over an hour with a Senior Engineer at Apple's Support, which does not give me a ticket number so now Apple can't even find the person I talked to. This person had to remember and it's been 2 weeks. I called Apple back Support and since they can't find a ticket number they told me that I have to wait until this person reminds me. This engineer had me remove and reinstall iTunes with all the other components that go with it, I run it as administrator, pretty much did all the troubleshooting I had done on my own. I have now to sit and wait, hoping that this senior engineer at Apple called me back. It's poor and poor support for iTunes. If anyone has any advice, please share.

    Thank you

These can be things that you've already tried. Despite this, it might be interesting to try again. As another poster has said recently, though for another problem, "20th try was the charm.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • Problem of reinstallation of Windows 8

Hello. One of my friends bought a HP Omni 120 Office opportunity a computer supplied with Windows 8. There are a few problems...

    1. it is polluted by malicious software.

    2. even worse... The girlfriend of previous owners messed with it and I see that if the recovery partition is there, it's empty so I can't use it to restore it to the factory. The computer came with any recovery media either. I have an iso of MS Windows 8.1 official that I did and I used several times in the past to restore some computers. I put this drive on this computer and thought I get to reinstall Win8 easily, but this isn't the case. I'm stuck with a driver problem. I have a screenshot below what is happening. Any ideas what I need to do to go beyond that and get Windows back here? Thank you!

The MS tool creates the retail installation media; the version preinstalled on your HP OEM computer - they are not the same.

You said that you had an ISO; Nowhere has seen in your message that you used the MS tool that also allows you to create installation media by using a USB key. So, I told you how you can do this with RUFUS.

Some people also said that the media of the Win8.1 of the MS tool will accept Win8 product keys for activation, not only the Win8.1 keys.  I found it of true because I did a clean install using the media of this tool and used my existing Win8 product key to activate it.

There were claims that the version of the tool MS Win8.1 CAN accept the OEM product keys, but these claims have also been challenged.

Don't know of anywhere that you can download an ISO of Win8 - and even in this case, that would be the same limitations as the ISO Win8.1 - he would not accept a product key OEM HP for activation.

    Good luck

  • Problem of reinstallation disk/Pavilion HPE 480t

Windows 7 Pro 64.  My main drive begins to slow down-, I found that some system files have been either damaged or missing.

I looked at doing a restore windows to an earlier time - does not work.

Cannot locate recovery discs I did purchase this machine a year previously, ordered news of HP (but they have worked anyway).

While the version identifier at the bottom of the computer and on the game discs that they do not work because HP has replaced the original mobo faulty (several months ago) with a different reference number ' TRUCKEE' motherboard. "

I've invested 1 hour 34 minutes last Friday, another hour & 15 minutes yesterday afternoon, then another 25 minutes when I realized my tech rep was not coming back (I had been waiting on several occasions, but the last was almost a half hour).  Since I received a phone message indicating I could ship it to HP and they would fix it.

Which is obviously absurd.  They want to send me because they do not know how to solve the problem, it is: someone must match the replacement motherboard with the version ID discs OK and send them to me.  Otherwise, they need to send a new startup with the operating system disc and any HP software was on the machine when I got it (I, of course, fortunately would return the disks I paid with the defective... soon fail completely, hard drive).

The solution is actually quite simple (as described above).  It's not my fault if they are unable to understand what drives to go with the card mother HP replaced under warranty... and I don't have to be penalized by the need to return the computer, it is a simple 'at home' issue of replacement/repair.  HP has caused the problem not me.

The I spoke with officials were all very courteous... too much in fact.  Not that that's what I have to pay for, but I expect a little personal interaction.  Felt like I was communicating with robots (as they would read responses standard off the cards enough times that they knew by heart).  I asked to speak to a supervisor... never happened.

Frankly I think that the subject should have come up at the time where the motherboard has been replaced... relocation records no longer works with the different motherboard.  But obviously someone was asleep at the switch.  I simply don't have the energy (or the time) to go to another couple rounds with tech people 1st line.  If I can't at least speak to a supervisor and I really need a phone number where I can call and expect to receive aid.  To be clear, I don't want to cry about - I want just the problem solved (soon) because I'm wasting time on projects that are coming due.

    Thank you!

    Dregenthal,

Long story short - Big Dave is correct - information of the motherboard only was not "tattooed" on the motherboard correctly.

What needs to happen - do you need contact HP and tell them that. Tattoo info are not on the system after a repair, which makes the no usable recovery media.

That should make the HP - installation service for the motherboard 'tattooed' with the correct information, while the discs you have will work.

And if you have to - I recommend you ask for a supervisor.

    Good luck

    Bill

  • I have serious problems with default MS without serif fonts must be installed in my system, but do not seem to be more after a deletion and a reinstallation of my system.

Currently, my computer is not allowing me to view by default without properly, serif fonts well that seem be properly installed in my system fonts folder. When I get an email from someone who uses the "sans-serif" as their type of font, or when I go on a site like Wikipedia, for example, which uses the police without serif, my default system, a font of script which does not allow to read all the content. I can't find a problem with the fonts, except that I'm missing some other files of fonts. Where can I download the fonts so that I need, so I can ensure that they are properly installed? It is a feat, but it is infuriating and a waste of time when there should be a simple solution to this.

    Thank you very much!
    GraphicJack

    Hi GraphicJack,

First of all, let us try to uninstall fonts, reinstall it and see if the problem still occurs.

You may need to use a third-party Web site to download the font.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/install-or-uninstall-fonts

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/troubleshoot-font-problems

Secondly, if the problem persists, you will need to make some changes to the registry.

In the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes.

There is a "MS Sans Serif, 0" entry with a value of 'MS Sans Serif, 177'

So this must be a mapping of fonts or substitute for MS Sans Serif. I would like to know what means the '0' in MS Sans Serif, 0 string. Delete the entry, and then restart the computer.
