  Firstly, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant using Microsoft 'Fixit' at the following link: this is particularly useful for correcting problems that may prevent resettlement on the machines running a 64 bit OS.

• Request for remote assistance does not work anymore

  Something has changed for Windows Live Messenger Remote Assistance?... or is something broken?

  Previously, we could "request remote assistance" back AND forth between two systems of Windows XP (SP3) - with a XP using MSN Messenger system (Version 7.0 [Build 7.0.0816]) and the other using Windows Live Messenger (Version 2009 [Build 14.0.8117.416]).

  And, previously, we could also request remote assistance in both directions between a Windows XP (SP3) by using MSN Messenger system (Version 7.0 [Build 7.0.0816]) and a system of Windows 7 (SP1) by using Windows Live Messenger (Version 2009 [Build 14.0.8117.416]).

  Now, none of these work for remote assistance request.  When the author of the request, click on "Ask the Remote Assistance", they get the message:

  "You have invited [so-and-so] to start Remote Assistance.  Please wait for a response or cancel the invitation. »

  In each of the above scenarios, the query end targeted computer sees nothing in their window of messenger!  (However, it worked only a few months ago, when we finally used successfully.)

  The Vice President of the Windows Live responded kindly and this is discussed in it.  I'm sure that everyone who meets this problem is grateful that she's wanted to and I hope a resolution is to be published soon.  Thanks to this Vice President!  (I won't mention names, he knows who he is and he should be credited with showing concern about this problem and its intentions for have solved it more quickly.)  It's nice to see in a large company like Microsoft.  Congratulations!)

  NOTE: this workaround work solid for us right now.  As mentioned, I hope that the developers of Windows Live Messenger will identify the problem (described above) and quickly resolve.

  When I connect to my computer via wifi it disconnects from the network the minute I connect remote is there a way to prevent this, so I can access my computer remotely? I tried to goto Device Manager and uncheck the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power", but this still does not work I tried to google this problem but I can't find anything that will help me...   I'm trying to download the path for adobe after effects. but when I download and open the Download Manager it says this

• Want H8 PC: last version of hp support assistant will not work

  I used HP support assistant, version 7.7.34.34. I checked to see if there was a newer version and there was. I downloaded it. Everything seemed to go well in the installation, even if slowly. When everything was done, I clicked on the new icon and nothing happened. I restarted the computer and still once clicked on the icon for HP support and once again the program does not start. I went to the file in program files and clicked on the .exe file... same result. Then I uninstalled the new version and recharged the old version and it works perfectly.

  I am running windows 8.1 64 bit, HP Envy H8 PC.  I have another computer HP Envy in my office space, and it updated perfectly.

  Any ideas?

  I installed the software of the printer Photosmart 6520 without error during installation. When I double click the icon of HP Photosmart 6520 series on my desktop to run the 'printer' Wizard nothing happens. Other than the printer works very well. I'm running Windows XP, one a computer HP Pavilion 7360. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times from the CD supplied and downloaded also from the HP site with the same results.  I was wondering if this works with Windows XP?  I have loaded the software on my laptop HP G71-340 under Windows 7 Home Premium and the "printer" Wizard works fine. Any help would be appreciated.

  What do you mean who does not? Some functions does not work or a complete remote control cannot be used?

  I read the user manual and it seems that the remote will work under Windows mode with WinDVD or Express Media player, and Windows Media Player when the laptop was not started in the Windows operating system.

  You get the error "a Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the DNS name of the remote computer could not be resolved" when the requesting computer (the computer 'demand' help) sends its private IP address instead of its public IP address in the request for assistance. The solution is 'easy' for some and difficult for others. I present here for your perusal:

  (1) obtain the public IP address of the requesting computer (by visiting a web page such as http://www.whatismyip.com)
  (2) save the remote assistance request computers
  (3) modify the remote request for Assistance (RcBuddy.MsRcIncident) using a text editor (such as notepad) and replace the private - section of IP address should be something like this:
  RCTICKET = 65538,1,192.168.1.33:3389 «»
  with the public IP address from whatismyip.com or elsewhere - should be something like this:
  RCTICKET = 65538,1,74.125.47.147:3389 «»
  (4) save the file of RcBuddy.MsRcIncident 'new '.
  (5) double click it to connect to the computer needing help
  (6) cross your fingers and hope it works!

  1 when was the last time you were able to run the FIXIT?

  2. you have any anti-virus installed on the computer program?

  3. do you receive any error messages?

  The computer has other problems in addition to not be able to run Microsoft FIXITs?
