Remote update of the BIOS r.620 with Ubuntu

Anyone know if it is possible to update the bios of a r.620 (with iDrac Express) on Ubuntu 12.04.3 remote.

I have problems of the E5-2630 Intel processor performance and read that it could be solved in update of the bios to the latest version:

BIOS_T2RVC_LN_2.1.3.BIN

I tried to run the bin file

But I had lines like:

Hello Marcel

I don't think that we create updates designed to work under Ubuntu. The easiest way for you to make the updates would be through the iDRAC. Connect to the web interface via the IP address of the iDRAC and choose the option to update and restore in the left column.

You can run windows 32 bit Dell Update Packages (DUP) from there. You can update THE system BIOS, firmware, PERC, iDRAC firmware and most other firmware the iDRAC using this method. Is the independent operating system, is a great way to make updates when you run Ubuntu, ESXi or other OS generally don't write us updates for.

Thank you

I have a L750-201 and is eligible for Windows 8. Currently Windows 7.
I thought that I would update to the BIOS (latest version 2.6) in the latest version (3.6), which has some relevant changes to Windows 8, I understand.

I have downloaded the BIOS update file and run. I had several options. One of them was to make the update of Windows, and another was to create a boot CD to do at STARTUP.
I created the CD and rebooted the machine with it. Everything seemed fine, but when the time came to Flash the bios I got the message about the battery must be greater than 10% and the power adapter is connected. If the BIOS update has refused to start.

The problem is the battery was 100% or almost that I had just fully charged it. The power adapter is and powered. So whence the utility to update the BIOS get his info that the dough was less than 10%?
I saw similar posts from other people, but the problem was usually that the battery was in fact less than 10% and that it was not charging. This isn't the case here.

No matter, I thought, I can update the other sense through the windows.
So I started the machine and took the Windows Flash utility. The system gave me the warning usual as planned and then rebooted the machine. He went directly in windows with the "Welcome" splash screen, and then stopped a few moments, then went to a black screen with just the pointer in the middle. I assumed it was something like the fairly active enjoy car light. However, after an age, nothing was. I could go back to the login screen by pressing the power button / standby machine and then turning it back on. My user has been locked, but I could shut down the computer and restart normally. Nothing serious happened. The machine starts very well and Windows does not normally, but BIOS remains unchanged.

Anyone have any idea how to get the update of the BIOS to work? Seems I have to bypass the battery check or why BIOS thinks a battery of 100% is less than 10%.

  • Updates to the BIOS EliteBook

Is there a HP tool that allows you to update the BIOS and set a BIOS password silently and remotely?  I am wanting to be able to update the BIOS in an imaging process.

    Thank you

    1. Download the Setup BIOS HP utility of: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/ads/clientmanagement/drivers-bios.html
    2. Download your system BIOS updates from HP. extract the BIOS updates on in the SWSetup folder. You can do this by running the installer until the extraction stage, and then cancel the real installation.
    3. Copy the BIOS updates in appropriate system model files, including the HP BIOS Configuration Utility EXE
    4. Use a similar .bat file in the below to apply the update of the BIOS through a sequence of tasks SCCM silently (or the one you use for Image/build machines with). Note that for SCCM, you need to remove the reboot after that the BIOS updated by adding - r at the command line. Instead, add a reboot target machine step in the task sequence after the update of the BIOS. Otherwise, the system will rebot in windows and the task sequence Calera.

-BAT example HP BIOS update file-

REM Installer copy to C:\Windows\Temp, and then install. s = silent - r = remove the reboot

    MD "% SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\Temp\820BIOSUpd".

    xcopy "%~dp0820\*.*" "% SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\Temp\820BIOSUpd" /E /Y

    CD "% SYSTEMDRIVE%\Windows\Temp\820BIOSUpd".

  • The update of the BIOS on Satellite Pro U400?

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro U400 (PSU41E) running Windows 7 x 64 and I try to update the BIOS to version 4.70 to 4.00.

Whenever I try to do it from Windows using WinPhlash which comes with the download on the Toshiba site it seems to freeze when you try to Flash the new BIOS.
I connected as the local administrator, tried to use other programs flash and even tried to do from a USB flash drive with no luck.

Can someone please help me and explain how do I update the BIOS?

    Hello

    > tried to use other flash programs
Never use other flash programs! In the worst case, you could damage the ROM module and then it must be replaced. Use only the program flash Toshiba that is tested and designed for laptop and the version of the BIOS.

The update of the BIOS program is also designed for Windows, it s a Windows Update program.

Satellite Pro U400 wasn t comes with Windows 7 so I guess you did your own installation. Value added package is required for the update of the BIOS program and can be downloaded on the European driver of Toshiba download page where is your laptop model:

  • Satellite R830-143 - update of the BIOS does not support this operating system

    Hello

I received a notification via Tempro that he did not have a BIOS upgrade. I downloaded the ZIP file (bios - 20120209125153.zip), extract the package (BIOS360_EC140_WIN.exe) and ran it according to the instructions.

The package runs, give the progress bar "extract files...". ", then displays a dialogue entitled"TOSHIBA BIOS package Ver.4.1.2"that says:"this package BIOS does not support this operating system."

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on a Satellite 830R-143 with the short part No. PT32LE

Does anyone know what is the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help...

    Hello

You have problems with the laptop?
If not then why you want to do the BIOS? Just because the new BIOS is released?
I would not change anything if my laptop is running correctly.

However, the update of the BIOS requires the VAP (value added package).
So remember that this PPV is installed correctly. If this isn't the case, so far.

  • Portege Z930 - 12 H - update of the BIOS and McAfee Endpoint Encryption?

The update to the latest BIOS (Ver.6.70) for my laptop Portege Z930 12 H comes with the warning:

«If you use the BitLocker Windows Drive encryption, please temporarily suspend (or turn off) before BitLocker Drive Encryption updated BIOS.»

The same caveat applies to McAfee Endpoint Encryption, which is used on my laptop and I can * not * pause or stop? Or can I apply the upgrade of the BIOS safely?

    Thank you.

As much I know Bitlocker isn't related to Antivirus from McAfee software and two security tools are not connected to each other. BitLocker is a tool for Microsoft Windows and McAfee is a 3rd party software preinstallation on the device.

I found a nice how doc on the update of the BIOS.

  • Satellite Pro C660 bricked by update of the BIOS that failed

My sister asked me to update his laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16N; The part number PSC0ME-01S00SEN) of Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) of Windows 8 (64-bit).
    So I did.

Then I went UK from Toshiba Web site to check if there are any drivers I had to install for Windows 8. The only one was an update of the BIOS (for BIOS v1.70). I don't know what was the previous BIOS version number.

So I run the update application in Windows 8. Phoenix WinPhlash Technologies starts and then in the middle of the update, everything freezes.

The trackpad would not move the cursor or anything like that. I had no choice but to disconnect the phone from the wall and remove the battery. The laptop is not under warranty.

Of course, now it won't turn. It will beep once when I press the power button, but the system does not light. A few minutes later, it looks like one long beep and two short beeps. It then keeps repeating this sequence every two minutes "one long beep, 2 short beeps".

I google and read the site after the blog after the post on the forum, but nothing works. Links to the software offered on these forums/blogs/Web sites in french are usually dead, so I can't try what they suggest.

The most common solution is the Phoenix crisis recovery tool. I managed to download v1.0.0.4 which is supposed to allow me to make a bootable USB key. The version of this tool that I downloaded is supposed to be for a Lenovo ThinkPad X 200. I have the correct BIOS.rom to C660 Pro Satellite (I renamed BIOS.wph and copied to the appropriate folder).

I followed all the instructions, but it doesn't seem to work. Some sites say if it happens, I have the wrong version of phlash16.exe. Some other sites say that HP Boot Disk USB Utility should be used, but I don't know how to use it.

What I really need, is a definitive step by step foolproof guide to know what to do, with links to the files/tools to use for this model of laptop. I will follow this blindly (which I don't really understand what makes each step, I just do it with no understanding,) so if anyone can help me with this, please write a guide like an idiot!

If anyone can help me with this, I appreciate it. I'm really in a difficult situation - I can't really afford to pay a Toshiba ASP to fix it, and I can't afford a new laptop certainly. But I also couldn't bring myself to tell my sister, ' it's broken, deal!

    Thanks in advance.

  • The update of the BIOS for Satellite Pro M70 does support TPM?

    Hello

There was an update of the bios that is specially designed for Vista... = bios-vista - 510win.zip on the Toshiba site...

Although my Satellite Pro M70-113 did not support the default TPM module (BIOS verson 1.1, I always have this), is it possible that this update includes the TPM secure to enable bitlocker on vista?

Can someone check and confirm please... :)

And secondly, is configuration BIOS update for Windows utility saves the current state of the BIOS in some external as backup media, while if it happens with the process of update... the previous version can be restored in return?

And a BIOS may be downgraded?

    Thank you.

    Hello

(1.) I m not 100% sure but I think the new BIOS for the M70 does not support the TPM secure. I read somewhere that all BIOS versions that support TPM on Toshiba laptops cannot be updated by a common user, but the user must contact the authorized Toshiba service provider for these updates.
That's why I think that Toshiba would not any BIOPS version by download issue if this BIOS would support the TPM.

2.) now something about the second question:
The new BIOS version replaces the old BIOS and BIOS States and to my knowledge it of not possible to save the settings for a backup more later.
Generally, you must be careful with any update of the BIOS. Bad BIOS or bad update procedure may damage the jury!

  • Tecra A8-185 - the update of the BIOS under Windows 7?

    Hi again,

I have a question how update of the BIOS under Windows 7 ultimate x 64. I downloaded the latest version of the BIOS for my laptop (Toshiba Tecra A8-185 PTA83E). After having unpacked there is only the .exe file.

When I try to run this file, he said, that my OS is not supported. When I run it in compatibility mode (with Vista or XP), it starts the upgrade, but gives me an error: "the BIOS upgrade is failure (8). BIOS is not able on this configuration. "What should I do? I really need a new BIOS.

Can I run it at the start of the USB key, or whatever?

    Hi offi55

Why do you need a new BIOS? You may notice some problems with the laptop or why are you trying to update?

However, I think that the update should only be done on the pre-installed Windows version (XP or Vista). I guess that this update n t tested and designed to update Windows 7 so I think that would be the reason why you can t.

So to install Windows from the Toshiba Recovery disk and try to update again. It should work.

  • Satellite A660 - 11 M - update of the BIOS (Winflash) crashes every time

    Hi all
I bought an A660 - 11 M a few months ago and thought I would update the BIOS to stop nagging Tempro and see if she helped no insidious problem, I tried to correct. I downloaded the zip, extracted and ran the .exe according to the instructions on the help site. WinFlash opens, runs the first step (new load bios) but hangs on step 2 (analyze the compatibility of old and new bios). Then a message "Winflash.exe has stopped working" Windows appears.
This happens whenever I have try, even with shut down antivirus and directly after startup with no other programs running.
    Any ideas?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, I "dualbooted" Ubuntu using wubi, but the update to the bios was not until I installed IT... Perhaps it would work better in wine? ;)
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

To be honest the best option for you is to remove Tempro system and be happy.
In General, if the laptop works well, you need not update BIOS.

If you see it doesn't work properly with her don t risk. If something's not going to screw you up BIOS and kill the machine.

In any case, let's see if someone else with the same notebook has updated the BIOS successfully.

  • Tecra 8000 - installation of update of the BIOS & XP or ME?

I got the task of sorting of a s laptop Tecra 8000 a friend who is completely riddled with spyware and viruses. After killing most of the infections I backed up what I have to and decided the best course of action is a reconstruction of the BONE.

I don't know what operating system to suggest that it installs. Will install and make ME use Win98 drivers or if this is not recommended (I have no experience with ME)?
XP would be a better choice with its own pilots (reading the posts on here that SP2 causes slowdowns well)?
Either the OS above with a Bios Update will be necessary? If so the update of the Bios from 9, 30-trad does not require a 500 MHz + processor? The Bios will tell me the CPU speed?
I found information on how to install the updates to the Bios; I just check that I can install the 9.30 - trad on a Tecra 8000 with a processor more low spec?

    Thank you very much
    JBW

I installed the trad 9.30 on my tecra 8000 233 mhz without problem. European downloads have the 500 mhz different bios updates voor and lower. The trad version is for lower versions.
The American downloadsite have only 1 bios, the 9: 30 for all machines.
It confused me, so I took the trad 9.30 which is safe for all machines under 500 mhz.

Good luck... not to mention that I installed winxp pro on it and it runs smooth, I only dissabeld a large number of services that run in the background that wheren can't used to free the memory.
