Remove search engines integrated into Firefox nightly

I use default Firefox-search engines, if I like to be able to remove all the Amazon, Twitter, Google nativelly installed on each version of Firefox. The current use and the beta version of Firefox, I am able to remove search engines built on the Android version, just the Add-ons Manager and disable the search engine.

However, on the last Nightly build, search engines is not found in the Add-ons Manager. My phone is not rooted, so I'm not able to set the list of search engines directly by editing the files or the withdrawal through the list of search engines. Impossible to find a property in ' subject: config' either...

You can always disable the search engines if you have root access on your device. Specifically, you have to shoot and edit the search.json file. On my camera, I have:

ADB pull /data/data/org.mozilla.firefox/files/mozilla/rbn69ru0.default/search.json

Now, by default, this file is not any format nicely, you can use something like

http://jsonformat.com

To clean things up. In all cases, you will see pieces such as

              "_id": "[app]/bing.xml",
              "_name": "Bing",
              "_hidden": false,
              "description": "",
              "__searchForm": "http://www.bing.com",

You must take the "_hidden" flag and change for real. This, for all search engines to hide all the. Or else, frankly, just delete everything under the engines. Then, download the file back and restart firefox with a command like:

ADB push search.json /data/data/org.mozilla.firefox/files/mozilla/rbn69ru0.default/

Until the application is restarted, the changes won't be visible.

As a slight note of the drafting, it is dumb that we have to do it by hand. We should be able to disable things under settings-> customize-> search settings or we should have some way to run things in topic: config. While I understand that menu to delete items that cause too much trouble to support, by completely removing the option even with about: config is counterproductive.

    It seems that your localization of Firefox no longer has the default Yahoo search plugin.

  • Help! I can't change the search engine for the Firefox widget on my home screen

    OK, so my engine failure to research on FF for Android is Duckduckgo. It is also the only one I have in my list of search engines in FF settings. I also use the search widget FF on my homescreen for quick search. It is and has always been, Duckduckgo. But, all of a sudden after the recent update (I use the FF, 36 beta something), for my search widget on my home screen, switched to Google search engine! I don't know why... I never use it. But this applies only to the search engine for the FF search on my home screen widget, not when I'm looking for something in FF itself. Does anyone else have this problem? Because I can't find a way to change the search engine in the FF widget... Looked everywhere in search widget settings and in FF itself. Thanks for the help of any body!

    I found a way to implement back to DuckDuckGo after a bit of fiddling with the default search engine in the browser.

    I think that the update should have overridden the setting somehow. What you need to do is to any other search engine default, then set DuckDuckGo returned as default. This will also update engine of the widget's default search.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I remove search engine Bing on my pc?

    Original title: How can I get this thing BING search my pc off. I looked in the control panel and can't find it. I have not install this but its there and I need out

    What kind of details. I post pictures on the forum of Daylilies and this icon appears on my picture after I have post and flashes on my face. I searched on command [[anel search so I can uninstall it, but can't find anything that says that its bing search engine.]] I hope someone can help me get out of my pc.

    you don't have to bother with spyware - it is just as bad; I had to uninstall that. kept popping up everywhere.

  • I have a spyware integrated into Firefox, how do I get rid of him?

    only when I use Firefox, when I go to my site to bank online, just after the log-in window, a pop up widow wonder all my personal information including credit card information. I checked with the Bank and they told me that I have spyware.

    I used all kinds of software removal, but it does not.

    Make a check of malware with some scan of malware programs. You need to scan with all programs, because each program detects a different malicious program. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database prior to scanning.

  • Search engine Bing on firefox shows very few search results, much less than before for stuff I have to get on a regular basis, how can I solve this problem?

    All started 4 days ago. All of a sudden, whenever I watch anything on bing, I get between 20-28 results. Oddly enough, it works fine on internet explorer, but not Firefox. Google is also working on firefox as well. I want to continue to use bing on firefox. How can I fix it?

    It seems that we have tried everything to avoid seeing you personalized results based on what Bing knows about you, or what modules might do to the results. It also does not, judging by your screen, you get mobile results, which may be shorter than the results on computers.

    This raises the suspicion that your connection has been changed or there is some other external filtering past.

    You can check your connection for Firefox here:

    "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced > tab mini network > button "settings".

    The default "use system proxy" should piggyback on your IE/LAN setting, but you can also try 'no proxy '.

    Although it seems unlikely, it is possible that something has changed your Firefox program files. To do this, I suggest:

    Clean reinstall it

    We use this name, but it isn't about deleting your settings, this is to ensure that the program, files are clean (no incompatible or exotic code files). As described below, this process does not disrupt your existing settings. Don't uninstall NOT Firefox, that does not need.

    (1) download a fresh Installer for Firefox 38.0.1 of https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ in an ideal location. (Scroll down your preferred language).

    (2) close Firefox (if applicable).

    (3) to rename the program folder:

    (Windows 64-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

    (Windows 32-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files\OldFirefox

    (4) run the installer you downloaded in the #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

    Note: Some plugins can only exist in this OldFirefox file. If it is missing something essential, present in these files:

  • How to get rid of yahoo as search engine when opening firefox

    When I open Firefox and enter a site in the search box, yahoo appears as a research vehicle. It takes forever to find the required site. I tried various things, but it seems that this feature of Yahoo has been installed when I did another download.

    Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode without failure.

    You can use the SearchReset extension to reset preferences to default values.

    Note that the SearchReset extension runs only once and then uninstalls automatically, so it will not appear on the page "> Firefox Add-ons" (topic: addons).

  • How to cancel all the nonsense of bull recently integrated into firefox?

    I liked firefox since I installed it first in 2.x days. I've HATED since 5 or 6 version control system. NOW, when I open a new tab, I have a bunch of crap that I don't want to be displayed. I'm sick and tired of firefox trying to emulate chrome. If I wanted chrome, I would install it.

    At this point, I'm ready to give up firefox all together and try some independent browser of fucked.

    How the hell can I disable all the nonsense and return to a real browser?

    There is an icon in the top right corner which allows you to turn off the new thumbnail view.

    Alternatively, you can set the preference browser.newtab.url on config for ' subject: empty.

  • How to manage search engines in Firefox 34.0.5?

    I use Firefox for some time now, but the latest version has screwed up the search bar. I have seen a few posts related to this, but none of them solve my current problem.

    I use and addon called 'add to search for' it allows me take bars of research on many sites and add as a search engine. It also lets you define keywords for different search engines. Version 33 and lower when you click on manage search engines, it is possible to change the order of search engines, change their keywords, remove them and even rename. With the update to version 34.0.5, all these features are lost. Keywords are still operating, but I can't modify or delete/rename of the search engines, I added. Does anyone know how this can be done? I wish I could edit the keywords and I would also like to be able to remove search engines, I added at this point Mozilla has done that hard.

    Any ideas?

  • Instructions to remove the search engine do not work, the "delete" button remains grayed out check marks independently. Is there another way that actually works?

    The Firefox Support instructions below do not work in version 36. The button 'delete' is never gray State asset once the unwanted/s search engine are checked for removal. I tried one at a time and in groups, it does everything just as they suggest below.

    Delete a search engine

    You can remove search engines, that you don't need by performing the following steps on the search bar in the toolbar or on the page tab.

       Click the search engine icon and select Manage Search Engines... to open the search engines manager.
       To remove a search engine, select it from the list, and click Remove.

    If you accidentally delete a default search engine, click on restore default values to recover the default search engines.

       If you accidentally delete a search engine that you installed, you must re-install it.

    I found the solution, the surprisingly simple. Thanks to everyone for trying, but against all the recommendations after a new analysis of malware, virus and upgrade to the latest version released on March 5, 2015... Here is the fix:

    Left click on the dropdown search button, then left click on the "change search settings." Ignore completely the checkboxes as suggested by Mozilla. The text of the search engine you want to delete to highlight in blue in the Middle, click on the grey Out button below should become active. The only function of the boxes by the search engine will make them visible or not when using the search box in Firefox. The solutions proposed by others seems logical, but I learned more than 4 decades as a technician in computer science, opt for the simple solution first. Thank you all for your suggestions, this fix works for versions 36 and 36.0.01on Windows 7. I guess it should work for other OS also.

  • How to change the search engine when you use the functionality of Firefox Home button Search?

    In Firefox itself, I have configured duckduckgo as my default search provider.

    But when I use the host Firefox search button it is always defined on google and I don't see any possibility to change that?

    I love the Firefox Home button Search (or whatever we call it) otherwise, but it's annoying that it does not use the default Firefox.

    I use the Google Launcher now.

    Hi mrt181, it is planned to use the same search engine as in firefox - however, there is a bug at the moment, so it does not apply in all situations.
    usually, it will be enough to change the default engine in firefox back once to work around the problem in the search widget and get the same as set in the browser search provider.
