Remove "shortcuts" in the Office

I downloaded a pix data folder and the film from a security camera on my desk.  He opened and threw up 1200 "shortcuts" on my desktop.  I can delete laboriously one by one in the trash (others fill the Office at the next opening), but is there a way to remove the "shortcuts" marked at the same time?

Hello

Use windows Explorer to view the contents of this folder...

C:\Documents and Settings\\Desktop

(You must substitute your home screen to login name)

This folder contains all the shortcuts on your desktop. I would like to begin by highlighting an item it (single click) and then press ctrl + A to select all the. Then, trawling through them using ctrl + click to deselect the ones you want to keep. Remove all other selected items in the trash using the Delete or DELETE button.

If accidentally, you get rid of something you want to keep, you can restore it from the Recycle Bin.

  • Shortcuts to the office and entered invalid start menu - Vista

The start-up of the PC, I found that all the shortcuts to the office and especially the start menu entries no longer works.  Start-up like google gadgets applications has not started.  A dialog box appears asking what application can use.  I was able to start the Explorer OK and for some files like word files the application will start and load the file - even for google gadgets.  For other applications such as firefox it would not start and just bring up the same dialog box.  IE would try to start and display a stop of the blank page and bring up the dialog box.

I run the File Checker and everything is OK.

Then, I created a new user account, and it seems to work normally.  Can I change the permissions to allow this new users to access all my original user files or is there a way to restore the original user account?

What do you call, you may have a corrupted user account.

Is the user account that was giving you problems also a user account or the Admin account?

    1. If it's just a user account, remove it.
    2. If an Admin account, make the new user as a new administrator account and delete the old admin account.

You may need to delete the shortcuts manually from the desktop.

Right click on an icon on the desktop and then click on remove.

  • How to remove a shortcut with the command line?

How to remove a shortcut with the command line?

How to make a backup of the local users and groups with command line?

You delete a shortcut, just as you would remove any other file.  A shortcut will end with the extension ".lnk".  So assuming you are trying to remove the shortcut named "Shortcut.lnk" which appears to the user 'Bob's Office, you use the button Delete (del) or 'clear' command by specifying the full path to the file.  (Remember to put filename in quotes if there is a space anywhere in the path or name) as in:

    del "C:\documents and settings\Bob\Desktop\Shortcut.lnk".

What kind of a backup 'users and groups' you want to do?  If there is a backup of the users and groups as written in the registry, a good registry as C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT backup program that will make the command line.  If you are trying to backup all users and their data as well, then you are better off with a backup program.

If you want a keyboard instead of the quick launch icon "Show Desktop" shortcut, press

    Windows key + D

(on condition, of course, that your keyboard has a key of Windows).

  • Record of creating file batch but the need to create a shortcut on the desktop and remove shortcut a day of age

Hi dear I have not much experience in batch file writing but forums I dig a code and try to shape according to my requirments but after beating head couldn't get the correct result comes in front of you people help me please. file code of my baby
    off @echo
    MD C:\tempbackup\DAY_%DATE%
    MD C:\DAY_%DATE%
    Create shortcut f t C:\tempbackup\DAY_%DATE% - n "\Documents and Settings\eric\Start Menu\Proams"
using this code, it create a folder and a file on the desktop as well, but is not a shortcut, it is just a file by name as the file Tempbackup.
    Basically, I want like this
    (1) I want to create the shortcut from the folder on the desktop of the file created in the folder Tempbackup
    (2) this file beats on execution will also remove old one day from the desktop shortcut

    Hello

    Try these steps-
Create the shortcut proposed (to cmd.exe/c start)
Now, open properties such as proposed
Add the full path in the 'Target' field with your own relative path and the app, for example
    %windir%\system32\CMD.exe /c start your_relpath\app.exe [your_args]

That's all. However, doing so does not change the current working of the called program directory. If this is desired, then enter the following alternative:
    %windir%\system32\CMD.exe /c "cd your_relpath & start app.exe [your_args].

The & is described as a command separator (see cmd /?). Note: Put something like '% CD%\your_relpath\' in the field ' start in ' doesn't do anything.

You can try this as well-
Create .bat file close record/yarn that you want to have the relative path
Edit the file, and the file type: (as you want to open c:\bin\app.exe, and then place file beats in c:\run.bat)
    Departure bin\app.exe
Save the run.bat file and double-click it to open it.

My window shortcut to the e-mail, Microsoft Office, internet... etc is now gone, what should I do to get it back?

    Assuming you are using Vista...
Do a system restore. Choose a date on which all the shortcuts are present and work as your restore point.

Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.

  • Desktop shortcuts for items on the network sometimes drives disappear from the Office

I have a number of shortcut icons on my desktop Windows 7 (RC1) to the network elements - some are files on a NAS server, some are mapped as the floppy drives, etc. However, Windows 7 seems to sometimes simply remove all without notice, and I have to recreate all the shortcuts to my NAS articles again.

I wondered at first if this may have been because Windows sometimes would start until all my network devices is available, but when that happens, he scored just correctly icons with a red x to indicate that he could not find them at startup, and as soon as the NAS is available then shortcuts work fine.

However at random intervals, seven of these shortcuts simply disappear from the desktop. All other shortcuts and icons are very good and the mapped drives are always present in my 'Computer' screen - it's just the focused on the NAS shortcuts on the desktop that disappear.

No idea why this is happening?

    André

If you create shortcuts from desktop to removable storage locations such as NAS icons will disappear from time to time because Windows 7 has a built in scheduling the task to clean up unused or broken links.

To prevent the task to run, you must disable the task in the task schedular: Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Task Scheduler
Expand the tree in the left pane until you get to the Task Scheduler Library-Microsoft-Windows-diagnosis.
In the right pane, right click on the named scheduled task, and then click on disable.
