  • How to remove startup programs in "msconfig".

First of all, care. Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit.

I'm not having the problem to disable startup programs, but trying to remove them from the list available to a start-up program. Some of these programs (the executable file of the command and its location) no longer exist on my system. Is there a way to remove these items in the startup list, and if so, how?

Unfortunately the only real way to do this is through the registry editor.

If you look at the line for the entry to remove it will track the path of the registry which organizes the statement. You need access to this location and delete the entry.

As always sophisticated editing that the registry should be done with caution and a backup taken 1. If you are not sure then do not.

There is a caveat. If you deleted the line (not checked it) then it will not be there. In order to stop this loading MsConfig moves the entry to an inactive backup key. In order to find the location, you will need to make the current line.

Because it has been moved it not treated during startup so other than to try to keep well stored, there is no specific does delete the line. Indeed, if the line points to a nonexistent file or a path then there no same effect if left. Registry of treatment so much more optimized in Windows 7 and entered orphan have no measurable effect on boot time. Delays of timeout that occurred were resolved.

With "how manage/remove programs startup in Windows 7?",...

Everything I've ever done is to find the startup program (in the "All programs" list, have a good overview of what is there, then, VERY SIMPLY, remove those I don't want to open at startup.)

When THIS is done, the program (s), I have DELETED does NOT start.

    At the start, never!

    Period!

And, it's 'how' I get rid of them. I have this same title... in the "All programs" list, in any case!

Autoruns is a great program for geeks, but for the average home user it generates so much information it can be a nightmare.

Stick to the MsConfig - Startup tab in a 1st time, but start in programs and features when cleaning. You don't need to worry about something in the boot if you can remove the program anyway.

Printer drivers HP is a good example. Many have their program of customer Participation and the consumables installation order plated on by default, but for the majority of users, as they are not necessary. Despite a message claiming that, on the contrary they do not affect printer operation at all.

To answer #1 question, you can use the program 'msconfig' to Microsoft

    (Start-> Run-> "msconfig")

to toggle the elements that run at startup... but especially for diagnostic purposes.

A better way is to download the freeware from Microsoft "AutoRuns".  When you run it, it will show a list of items that run at startup and allow you to uncheck all that you desire.

  • Unwanted startup programs/applications

If I use msconfig to remove startup programs unwanted, that will allow me to also remove the applications that are launched at startup, because they are in the Group of network policy?

Group Policy in part controls what users can or not do on a computer system.

In most cases, if you are an administrator then you are 'the' group of all features to set up xp.

So basically, if group policy is set up correctly, then you should be able to disable the startup via msconfig.

Also, keep in mind that startup programs is not the only area that can cause starting problems.

Look under the Services tab in Msconfig, and then click on / activate the option 'hide' and look at services of third parties who are also registered at startup as well.

Incidentally, you might want to doodle on the paper that you disabled so you can back up the track, just in case your plans don't go quite right.

    Hello

Bloatware is that your system manufacturer is taking on the computer for a fee.

You can use these to control which startup programs. Many who install it themselves in
Startup is really useless to be here. As Acrobat Reader (Adobe), WinAmp Agent,.
and many other who are responsible for pieces themselves start more quickly (not a question on today)

just use). Those who are examples only common and not designed as a slam on those
    programs very well.

  • Remove some programs from running at startup

How can I remove some programs from running at startup? for example, Super Anti Spyware, automatically runs on startup and is listed in the lower right corner of my desk drawer, but it really slows my time to go on the internet. I only have access if necessary.

You can click on start > run > msconfig

then under the Startup tab, you will find a list of programs that launch at startup of windows.   they are activated by a check mark.

In addition, you can check the services through the services tab.

Select / check "hide microsoft services" and then what remains on the revised list are non-microsoft programs you have added to the system and are also expected to start automatically.

don't forget to click 'apply' for the changes you make and then restart to see the effects.

  • Cannot remove startup unsused programs

MS Vista Windows Defender Instructions says:

(to) Stop a program from running automatically when Windows starts... Here's how: click here to open Windows Defender.  Click Tools, and then click Software Explorer.  In the category box, click startup programs.  Select the program you want to run and then click on disable.

Problem: When I click on the software I want to turn off, the buttons 'disable' and 'Delete' does not highlight, they are unclickable.

Big problem: the instructions do not reach this common dilemma, how confusing

So, what's the startup program to remove?

Type msconfig is the search from the start menu, and then press ENTER. Go to the Startup tab and disable startup programs there.

  • Removal of excessive startup programs

I guess (know) my computer came with many programs that I don't want and will never use. I assume that many of them are in the boot, and they slow down the startup. If this is the case, is it useful to eliminate them in order to speed up the startup? If so, is there a sure way to distinguish those among the necessary elements and remove them?

Bob, the programs in the folder "Startup" in "Start" (start/programs/startup) can be removed without removing the program from your computer.  Programs can be removed using a program uninstall, such as Revo Uninstaller.  It's my goto app for this purpose, because it gives you options on the depth to remove the program.  I usually use the most complete option.  There has never been any additional problems for me.

I believe, however, that you are more concerned about Services' and commissioning "in"msconfig"(Run / type msconfig)."  This is a different situation.  Many of them are necessary for Windows to function properly.  There are guides on the Internet that will help you make a decision on how to handle each of them.  You don't mention which operating system you are running.  Here's a guide for Win7.  I always caution when disabling one of them.  When I do, I use the common sense approach and do one at a time.  This is the way I install programs, too.  This way if you have a problem, you know without hesitation which program is causing the problem if you didn't have it before installation.

    I hope this helps.

  • Pavilion 2000: startup program names 'false '?

    Hello

So, since I restarted my laptop, I had this startup program named "false" when it opens at startup, it is a window asking what program should I use to open the 'false' but I tried everything. I even tried to delete it, but he said I can't. And I wonder is this safe program because I don't know if this program is integrated or I could have installed it accedentally. I currently use Microsoft Security essencials as my security software.

    Kind regards

    Hello

If the program still appears, then you can try this steps.

NOTE: BEFORE YOU TRY WE RECOMMEND TO TAKE TO THE TOP OF ALL YOUR DATA.

    1. reboot the appliance

    2. Press f8 and boot in safe mode with n/w

3 run - > msconfig and try if still exists.

4 restart the machine in normal mode

    5. run - > regedit-> and on top, select search and type the value false and search

    6. it will go to the location of the file, try to remove.

    7. for the next selection press f3, it will search the files again to do this until you remove the traces of the files.

    8. restart the unit and check

    9. If nothing works, best suggestion would be to reimage the unit.

Will probably want to clean this machine...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.
