Remove Vista and install XP SP2 on Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop

I bought a laptop Inspiron-1545 Dell in 2009.

It has Vista and Office 2007.

I recently got admitted to a course where they r with Windows XP and Office 2003 in their program.

So I need to downgrade my OS from Vista to XP.

Thanks for giving me tips for this in details.

(My Dell warranty period is over).

Hi somali.cc,

/ 3GB is fine. Once you have installed Microsoft Virtual PC and start creating a virtual machine only allocate 1 GB of memory for the virtual machine. This will give you then 1 GB for XP and the other 2 GB for your Vista system.

Here is the download link for Virtual PC 2007 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=04D26402-3199-48A3-AFA2-2DC0B40A73B6&displaylang=en

This link can also help getting started: http://www.vistarewired.com/2007/02/21/virtual-pc-2007

Come on first, site of the manufacturer of your computer, check to see if your model computer has XP drivers available for it...

If the XP drivers are not available for your model, forget the idea.

If Yes, download and save to a CD or Flash drive.

Then buy a disc XP and license.

Save all your data because it will be lost during the installation of XP.

  • How to replace the audio driver by default and applet on Windows Vista Home Premium Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop computer?

I had sound problems and got a pop up saying audio applet did not work, I chkd the sound test in Control Panel and drivers in Device Manager it says all drivers have been updated and had a MS Mr. Fixit scan and everything said it was OK. Also I went to chat with and MS engineer who just told me to do the things that I had already done so who did not help either.  Then, I lost all sound and when I went and chkd Manager of devices, he said that the sound driver was not installed, I went to Dell to have a driver update installed thinking to recognize the missing driver and install it but that didn't work. I can't find something at Dell who tells me how to install the drivers by default/applets. I got chk Dell for updates of pilot and analysis says that it does not work on something more old then XP but my OS is a Vista Home Premium so I don't understand that, I ran an another Mr. Fixit scan but it showed no problems. I suspect it is the applet which has stopped working and it gives a wrong signal that it is the driver that does not work when it is the applet which poses problem. Is there a scan which analyzes all aspects of the audio system and will repair or replace or at least give me a list of things that need to be replaced or updated? Any help would be appreciated I tried to solve this problem for the past two months and I really want to fix this now if possible.

    Hello

Create a new user account and check if the problem persists, if the problem does not persist in the new user account, then you can fix the damaged user account.

  • Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop computer. Connected battery does not support. Can I use the adapter of a computer Dell Inspiron 630 M laptop?

In the last 2 days I had a problem as indicated in the title of this post. The fault corrected itself 3 times, but still, it's back to "plugged in, not load.» I use the laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32-bit) on the card without problem, I assume that the card itself is not defective.

I also have a Dell Inspiron 630 M laptop running Windows 7.  Can I use this card with the laptop of Vista, without causing damage to the Vista?  If it is safe to do so, and begins to charge the battery on Vista, this would indicate that the Vista adapter/charger has a kind of fault.

Hoping someone can give me some advice. Thank you.

Could be - or it could be the power supply.  See if the other card gives a link more solid.  If so, this is the plug of the adapter.  If it isn't, the decision-making within the system.

  • Satellite Pro L300 (PSLB9A - 02L 001) - remove Vista and install Windows XP

I'm waiting for delivery of a L300. I also bought XP I want to install XP as soon as I get the L300. The laptop comes with Vista installed which I never liked.

I intended to create a Vista recovery disc just to make sure before you start the conversion.
I was going to do the installation of XP reformat the disk and partition of the HD.
I was also going to download all of the drivers XP for my model on the Toshiba site, the installation then the XP installation had finished.

Is there anything I should be aware of, or have missed?

    Hello!

I think you are right but before doing something I will give you a few words of advice:

Before you do something on your laptop or begin to install Windows XP, you must create the Toshiba in Windows Vista recovery disk. I know that you n t like Vista but with these discs every time you can restore your laptop factory settings. Independent that you have installed on your laptop. You must start only to drive recovery and follow the instructions on the screen. The factory settings will be restored in a few minutes and you should not install additional drivers. The disc already contains all the drivers and tools of Toshiba and so you can save a lot of time! Also if you have problems with your laptop you can test with the settings to determine if it s a software or hardware problem. As you can see it of very useful and easy the recovery disc.

According to installing XP you need a disc of Microsoft. You must format the HARD drive and you can then create the partitions you want. In your case, I'd a partition for the system and one for your data. The point is that if you need to reinstall Windows XP at a certain point you should not back up the data first because they are already stored on the second partition and to reinstall Windows XP, you need to format only the first partition. Of course, you can do what you want, but then I install Windows on my notebooks.

Finally and above all drivers that you find on the Australian site of Toshiba, that of right. I think that it shouldn't be a problem to install it so just download all the and the tools of Toshiba. After that, the XP installation is complete and you can do what you want.
In addition, if you have installed all the drivers and tools for XP you can make an image of your installation. For example with Acronis True Image. Therefore, you can restore your installation of XP every time and I think it can help you save time. I have good experiences with Acronis and I do a picture of my too custom installations.

I hope this was helpful for you and if you have any other questions, please let us know.
Have fun with your new notebook from Toshiba! :)

  • removed vista and installed xp now missing files... Help

HP Pavilion DV6609mw with Vista home premium pre-installed disliked vista so deleted and tried several times to install xp family as soon as I installed it there are several missing files his not recognizing not modem cd/dvd drive, ethernet etc. unable to connect to internet etc. so I tried to reinstall Vista with iso disc using key code on the bottom of the laptop sticker but get error saying that the file D:\Sources\ Install.wim is missing error 0 x 80070002 (I think). Any help on how to fix this?

If you used the recovery disks do on your PC you shouldn't have the key at the bottom of the laptop code. All I can suggest is to order a new set of recovery disks.

You can order here recovery media

  • What video card do I need on a Dell Inspiron 1545 playing Fallout 3?

I have a problem when I try to play Fallout 3 on my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. I tested my computer with the System Requirements Lab and he told me that I need an upgrade. I have a Mobile Intel (r) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.  He said that the Minimum that I need for my computer is Direct X 9.0 c compatible video card with 256 MB RAM (NVIDIA 6800 or better/ATI X 850 or better).  I looked this up, but I can only find ones for desktop computers. Do you know what I should get the video card and what one is for my computer?

    Shawn

Generally, you may not get a new video card for your laptop, but if you can contact so that they can install it for you, unless you know how to install mobile video cards yourself.

I looked towards the top of your machine and it looks like you have the possibility to have a 256 MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 for your machine. That would probably be it. I don't know what type of processor you have, but this card should work for you. Integrated Intel cards are not good for games at all.

    Good luck.
