  • How can I remove yahoo from firefox?

I downloaded a screensaver and after installing it I'm done with a Yahoo Search page whenever I start Firefox.
It is not in my plugins or addons so I can't remove it there.
It is not in my list of installed programs so I can't uninstall it.

I reinstalled Firefox and it's still there.
    How can I remove it?

    Hi gunnermac,

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base How to set the home pagearticle. Your home page might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc. have been ask to become your homepage.

There are the steps in this article to reset your preferences on the default home page. I would try everything first to clear all strangeness. If it works, you can try to set your homepage again to your personal preferences.

If Yahoo has been set as the default search in the search bar, you should take a look in the Knowledge Base using the search in Firefox bararticle.

If the address bar search has been changed, so you can take a look at Search the Web from the address bar.

If this does not work, you should look the article How to fix preferences that will not save.

Finally, your problem may be because you have been hit by some malware.

    Hope this helps!

  • I have Firefox/Yahoo and I do want Firefox (hate Yahoo). How can I remove Yahoo?

I currently have a tool of the YAHOO bar and don't want or need.
How to remove the Yahoo tool bar

You can disable or remove toolbars more here:

Orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Modules

On the left side, click Extensions. Then read to the bottom of the list. Usually the active ones are listed first, then the inactive.

If the add-on cannot be removed here, you may need to go to the Windows Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.

    A little luck?

  • How to remove yahoo from firefox?

When I search something in the search at the top of the browser, it takes me to a list of items in google. When I click on the Web site in the search list, it takes me to a site that I want to see and then a second later it takes me to yahoo.
That seems to only happen when I use the search bars in the browser.

Any ideas of how I can stop this?

It is difficult to follow this URL for Yahoo, but a potential culprit is a plugin or extension (for example, a 'Community Toolbar' extension).

You can check your plugins and extensions on page modules. Either:

    • Command + shift + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. For those who don't are not essential for the next 48 hours (any other most Shockwave Flash), set them never 'enable '.

In the left column, click Extensions. For those who are not essential for the next 48 hours, click "disable". In the case of a double, "Disable."

You may need to quit and launch Firefox back before these changes take full effect. Any improvement?

  • Yahoo allows no firefox appears, so I can't change of Add-ons to remove yahoo.

I have downloaded and installed firefox 10 times and uninstalled 9 times. Firefox browser is dominated by yahoo and yahoo does'nt allow even mozilla firefox logo to display. so I can't click on the logo to change modules. I already have a yahoo browser. I don't need another, but this is what I get every time I have to install firefox. Mozilla firefox used to be 1 of the browsers that I relied on Web sites of access which are dedicated to the site and are not accessible by bing, google, google chrome, yahoo, msn or internet explorer. I have all these browsers installed and hand on my tab bar. Firefox is the only one that is hijacked by yahoo. Fix it and explain how I solve this problem please. Thanks in advance, robert...

Thanks to everyone who tried to help with this problem of diversion of yahoo. I took all of the recommendations to the task, however, none of this was successful. After having almost given up on firefox after the 14th download I accidentally discovered the cure. with the logo of firefox in my taskbar, I clicked on it to launch the 'yahoo' once again, but ran in the topleft corner click the firefox tab b-4, he disappeared into the micro seconds. Can't do. but accidentally, I dragged yahoo down to reveal the logo of firefox tab and was able to rightclick access to modules! success for disable yahoo toolbar, but that still does not eliminate the dominance of yahoo. to do that simply finding firefox with bing on a Web site, download, install and success. now, I click on the firefox logo on my taskbar, and yahoo is longgone. It is 28.0 in all its glory with the horny Fox rubs the center globe screen. Thanks once more to all those who tried to help. I hope that this experience can help the next computer illiterate I fall towards literacy...
