Renaming of files EPS

Hi people!

I tried to rename several EPS files using this code, but it didn't work.

var myEPS = Folder.desktop + '/AF Files/oldName.eps';
myEPS.rename( Folder.desktop + '/AF Files/newName.eps');

I got this code to make it work and I wasn't too! :/

What I am doing wrong?

var myfile = File.openDialog( 'select your AI file…' );
myfile.rename( 'NEW.ai' );

Show this ERROR: myEPS.rename is not a function.

Is it possible to rename an Illustrator file? How could I do?

Thanks a lot for your time guys!

Your first variant should do without Illustrator. But I miss the file object in this example.

var myEPS = File (Folder.desktop + '/AF Files/oldName.eps');
myEPS.rename('newName.eps');

This should do the job.

Your second variant will be compatible with illustrator and open files. But you can only rename while saveAs.

  • Rename several files from (001) & not (1)?

    When I play my photo files in a slideshow on my TV, the software slide show TV 'sequences' my files photo (1), (11), (12), (13), (14), (15), (16), (17), (18), (19), (2), etc. (21) AND NOT in the order digital (1), (2), (3), etc. (4).

    So, when "rename multiple files" in Windows XP, is possible to order the files of sequences of numbers such as: - (01), (02), (03) (04) or (001), (002) (003), (004) etc. instead of the standard (1), (2), (3), (4)...?

    There is a freeware program called "Bulk Rename Utility".  If this program can not do what you want (and I'm sure it will be) then it cannot be done.  Method 10 is a "numbering" option which will be pré-pend or add a number to the name starting with zeros (filling) that you specify.  The program is a little overwhelming, but it comes with a good manual.

    1. If you want to simply rename the extension, open a run window (Windows Logo key + R), type cmd and press ENTER. Using the CD (Change Directory) command, navigate to the folder in question. Now, type ren *.mp3, *.mp4, and press enter (note the two spaces in the command). Note, rename mp3 MP4 is just an example of the command.

  • Hi I have windows xp sp3 and recently when iam to rename a file or folder is to show that "If you rename this file .This will be unusable" so, how do I change it?

    How can I change it please help me...
    Visit this link for the dialog that I saw when I am trying to rename the file

    Looks like you are trying to remove the extension. Probably because you do not know its there - by default, Windows HIDES extensions knows it.

    Use Control Panel-folder Options (or select it from the Tools drop-down in Windows Explorer). Click the view tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types", and then click OK.

    The name of your file will now show you its extension, i.e. the bit after the point. The extension defines what program will try to open the default file. If you change the extension so it can not open by double click.

    When you rename, do not change the bit after the point, unless you know it's the right thing to do.

    1. What is the full error message do you get?

    Step 1:

    You can try to take ownership of the file or the folder and check.

    How to capture a file or a folder in Windows

    Step 2:

    I also suggest you temporarily disable the antivirus software third and firewall on the computer and check to see if that fixes the problem.

    If disabling the antivirus software solves the problem, you may need to configure the settings of the antivirus as a result program. Please contact the software vendor for assistance in this regard.

    Note: Make sure that you enable the antivirus software, other security and firewall after the test programs.

  • When you rename a file change the last timestamp consulted?

    I was in a heated debate with one of my instructors today associated with a test on the access timestamp question when you rename a file. Through my research and testing to rename a file via the command prompt, it does not appear that the process of renaming a file will change the date of that last file access. Access and modify times will change to the directory that contains the file, but not the file itself.  So my understanding is that it is not, however, my instructor insists that it is, can someone shed some light on this topic please?

  • Renaming of files exe with the same name

    I have

    just installed a game on steam.  The package ended up being buggy, so it did not work.  But I found a solution on the Forum and he told me to rename these two files exe under the same name.  Its the only way to fix the game.  Others did and cela worked.  When I try to rename the file an error pops up telling me that I can't have two files with the same name.  In summary, this is what is happening.

    two files are: prince of persia.exe and princeofpersia_launcher.exe .

    Need to rename it to princeofpersia_launcher.exe to the prince of persia.exe

    An error pops up saying ERROR RENAME FILE or FOLDER: cannot rename princeofpersia_launcher: a file with the specified name already exists.  Specify a different file name.

    The problem is that these two exe files MUST have the name of prince of Persia: work.  Is it possible that I could do?

    It is not possible to have two files with the same name in the same folder.  Something is wrong with the instructions that you try to follow.  What do say exactly?  Can you give us a link for them?
