• Unable to detect and open the HARD drive

  Hello. I have a Seagate 1 TB external hard drive. And my mac is running on the latest OS, I was still able to connect and open my hard drive on my mac, but after reboot my macbook only once after an update, I can access is no longer my hard drive.   I tried to use DiskWarrior 5 to repair the hard drive that crashed on the previous laptop I was using (Macbook Pro mid-2010 7.1) last year.  I was running OS X 10.9 Mavericks for sure, and I'm almost certain that I had updated to OS X 10.10 Yosemite at the time where the hard drive crashed.  DiskWarrior does not completely fixing the reader, but I was able to recover most of the important files that I needed back.

  The only thing that I still have to get back that I really wanted were my Notes of Apple (not sticky).  I could save a few files com.apple.Notes with these files:

  I tried to add the .html extension and open it in TextEdit, and Safari, and I see a lot of code, but none of my actual notes.  I noticed at the top of the NotesV1.storedata file, it says: SQLite 3 format, which leads me to believe that SQLite might serve to open/decode what I so that I can actually read.  I don't know anything about SQLite except that it can be opened and used in the Terminal, and it is already installed by default on my current computer which is a Macbook Pro mid-2012 (9.1).

  Someone who knows what I'm doing and who also knows what they are doing can give me instructions step by step on how I can open these files with SQLite in the terminal, or decode, or something.  And no, unfortunately I do not have a back-up hard drive anywhere, and I was using iCloud in time.

  You must open the "NotesV1.storedata", you may have to search in different tables to find relevant data, the data will be broken so that the pieces are unique, it is usually how are structured databases, if you need everything intact (as dates change etc) you need to perform queries to retrieve relevant items. Otherwise, you can export in CSV or other formats via this application.

  I recommend you change the original & working on a copy, just in case you save the changes.

  I don't think that this database is encrypted, but it is possible so post back if all of this sounds like gibberish. Also keep in mind that the data should not have images or other multimedia files that can be put in place, sometimes they are kept in databases as files.

  Another option is to find the location that the Notes.app stores these databases in your user account, you may be able to place these copies & get the app to read. Ideally, you would have a similar version of the operating system installed to do this.

  You can try to start HD recovery and to do this:

  Reinstall El Capitan without erasing the drive

  HD recovery start: restart the computer after the ring, press on and hold down the COMMAND and R until the menu screen appears.

  Repair the hard drive and permissions: at startup, select in the main menu disk utility. Repair hard disk and permissions as follows.

  When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. Disk utility charges and select Macintosh HD entry indented from the list on the left.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait until the operation is complete, then quit disk utility and return to the main menu.

  Reinstall OS X: Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

  Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than Wi - Fi and more reliable.

  Of course, it of Nice to hear some suggestions about HARD drive models, but I think it might be a little difficult if you n t post which laptop model you exactly. ;)

  I mean, first of all, there are two interfaces available IDE and SATA HARD drive. On the IDE interface, you have a limit of 128 GB I think and for discs hard SATA are available in different speeds (RPM for example 5400 or 7200 RPM).

  I see that when you tried to install an Anti virus software that you have received this error "0xc00000e9. It is usually indicatvie of a hard disk problem. The fact that the test drive is not also a 4%, confirms that the hard drive has problems.

  I strongly recommend to back up your data to avoid loss.

  You can try these step to help.

  Restart your laptop and press F8 shorten once per second to enter advanced startup options

  Select safe mode with command prompt

  Right-click on command prompt and run as administrator

  Type chkdsk /r and press enter

  It will attempt to repair the bad sectors.

  If he repair the hard drive, it is usually temporary and is likely to require replacement in the near future.  I suggest you only look to replace your hard drive.

• HP touchsmart tm2 laptop: DST short hard drive failed

  Because my laptop was not start (only a blank screen to come), I ran the advanced diagnostic by pressing F2 while bootung.

• HP Pavilion g6 1014sa problems starting and complete hard drive (305)

  Out of the blue, my laptop just stopped starting sometimes.  It didn't fall or anything.  The screen remains black after start-up and only the fan turns on.  Verified the external monitors etc.

  He occasionally start and I have usually press f10 for that to happen.  I ran the diagnostic tests and memory, we came back ok.

  However when I leave configured BIOS, windows starts normally and works ok for a few days.  So is there really a problem with the hard drive?  This would explain why it won't turn?

  The laptop becomes quite hot enough quickly also, this can be explained by the error of hard disk or is it do? I don't want to buy a new drive hard to make it happen.  Is it POSSIBLE to repair a hard drive or replacement is the only option? This error is certainly correct?

  Recently my laptop gave me a blue screen with message unmountable_boot_volume.  Even when you use the thinkvantage option there was a blue screen so was not able to update the laptop to the factory by reinstalling the operating system from the recovery partition.

  So I tried to boot the hard drive from another cd to try to repair the hard drive. After resolving some files the chkdsk program stopped and you leave so the hard drive could not be repaired in this way.

  Then I tried ubuntu and it was able to detect the hard drive. I was also able to install ubuntu on it, but in the process that all of the hard disk has crashed.

  I also use a hard disk again now because that showed many areas like went wrong.

  I want to get that back to refresh your factory with xp installed and ability (thinkvantage) of recovery on the hard drive and all that? How can I do this?

  The warranty has expired also. I don't have any CD that could have come with the laptop.
