Repartition greyed, macbook pro

Hello. I recently bought last month a new 15 "macbook pro. Installed originally 2 partitions, one for yosemite to el Captain (I didn't el Captain because it makes my computer slow, and that's what I saved from my last Mac.). After I finished pass my info, I deleted the partition of Captain el, but now I can't resize or add a new partition for the 512 GB SSD (everything is grey, and when I add a new partition after you click Add, the blue line on the bottom appears real quick, but nothing happens). I have repaired the disk, repaired permissions, started from a flash in recovery drive, even just restored from a backup time machine, and nothing works. even when you select time machine restore destination, it is said that 256 GB not 512 GB.

Boot OS X Internet recovery and wipe the drive. To do that add option to rope R ⌘ key when your Mac starts:

    Hi Vincent,.

I understand that you are no longer able to control the audio output on your Mac after installing a few different security applications. If you want to use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac at one point before installing these applications, it is absolutely an option. However, keep in mind that this kind would remove, indeed, any changes made after the point of this backup, including installation and configuration of said software.

  • MacBook pro grey after sleep screen

I have documented on this problem for some time now on the MacBook screen goes black or rather a visible backlight gray but black screen after being in standby mode. I tried the reset SMC and command + Option + P + R. I am owner of a mid 2014 13 "macbook pro retina.

    Hi Youngnn,

Welcome to Apple Support communities. It is my understanding you are MacBook Pro shows a gray screen after being in mode 'sleep'. I want to help get this resolved with you.

You did a great job with the steps taken so far. At this point, I recommend this test in safe mode. Start in safe mode prevents the opening and start-up items to open automatically. Safe mode also allows your Mac to conduct some controls. If the problem does not occur in safe mode, it is possible to a startup item or logon are the cause. Please follow the steps below to start in safe mode:

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

If the problem persists in safe mode try this test to another user. This will help determine whether specific user files, settings and apps cause this problem. Please use the link below to test in an another user account and additional steps:

  • MacBook Pro 2015 turns on but the screen remains black...

    Hello

Today, I tried to turn on my MacBook Pro, but my screen stays black. When I press the caps lock button, it turns green which I guess means he lit. I've also heard the startup chime it generally makes when you turn on. I already tried to turn it on and off several times and reset the SMC and the LANDAU... The screen is always black.

    Could someone help me please?

Also a few minutes ago the fan has started to make noise in the macbook...

    But the screen remains black.

    Thank you

    Shaynidw

    Hi shaynidw,

From your description, it seems that your MacBook Pro is powered, as soon as you hear the startup chime and see the light on the keyboard.  Thus, it seems that the problem may be with your screen or the video card.

On the screens you see when you start your Mac

    Power on

When you turn on your Mac, display is off (black) and you hear a startup chime. Your Mac Initializes his BootROM and memory (RAM live). It then performs a power - on that self test (POST) and a test of BootROM. If you hear beeps or chimes at this stage, this indicates a possible hardware problem and start stops. If you add memory to your Mac, check that it is installed correctly.

    White screen

After that only walking self-test is completed, your Mac sends a video signal to your connected screens. The screen may appear black or grey at this point in the boot sequence and backlight of the screen should light up. If you do not see the image appears on your screen after a few moments, try increasing the brightness of your screen. If you use an external monitor, make sure it is properly connected and turned on.

shaynidw, if set up the brightness of your screen does not help, you have an external display (computer screen or TV) that you can attach to your MacBook Pro to test?

In addition, you can try to start your computer in safe mode to see if you get different results.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

If the problem persists, you may need to take your computer to an Apple Store or service provider authorized Apple , so they can inspect the video card and cables to isolate the problem.

    Take care.

  • MacBook Pro OS 10.8.5 multi-user login loop.

Suddenly my Macbook Pro mid-2010 Mountain Lion 10.8.5 running would not allow any user to connect.  The system starts successfully at the connection of the login screen.  I have 2 users on the window, a user with the administrator and standard user rights.  When I enter the password for each user with that it seems to work the colorful spinning ball and then the grey train like thing. Then it goes to a white/gray screen and then returns to the screen connection again.  I researched and found a lot of Info for a similar problem (the problem only affected only one user on Mac), but nothing for 10.8.5.  I started using the safe, but the problem remains the same.  I ran disk utility on recovery without any problem drive.  Started in single-user and run fsck - fy until he says ok.  Removed caches in / library and/System/Library, but nothing has worked.   Any other suggestions?

Restart your computer, hold down the option/alt - P - R keys command before the gray screen appears. Continue until you hear the startup chime for the second time.

  • How to replace the logic board MacBook Pro mid-2010

I have a MacBook Pro 13-inch mid-2010. About once a week, monitors (one who is part of the laptop) and an external will turn grey and freeze. When I turned off the computer, it brings back me to the login screen (I'm under 10.11.5), but I can't move the pointer (whether with my Apple Wireless Mouse or trackpad) to select the icon for my login. After a few reboots, the computer takes care of the password reset function. And there, I can reuse the mouse, select Restart the machine, and I'm back on my way.

The genius of Apple and I suspect that the problem is with the logic board. Unfortunately, Apple has more parts for MacBook Pro mid-2010. I contacted a few service centers certified Apple the kind told me; None of them can help either.

Any suggestions for how I have a fix for this problem? Thank you!

You could contact a specialist to see what their requirement is to send you the

computer while for a diagnosis appropriate; a specialist is the one who can do all the

works internally and could actually fix the edge logic that the Mac came with.

I know some who do this; they charge more than a parts Exchange hosting.

You can see what a company such as wegenermedia can do. Or see what the

iFixit guide for Mac (for your specific model) said repair and watch to see who

part numbers are involved in replacement of the like-kind in refurbished or tested

OK, from sources such as powerbookmedic.com and other sources used parts.

The logic board may not be a problem; might be some on the Board of directors or of one which

attached to, such as the graphics processor. These older models are not

so difficult for a specialist expert set. While the Mac is able to do so, is a good time

for they provide labour expertise to swap upgrade replacement parts.

They can test the feature set and should provide a guarantee for employment.

Some of these companies repairs also restored the supply of older computers they fixed.

    Good luck & happy computing!

  • MacBook Pro 15 mid 2014 video retina

Hello I have a macbook pro 15 mid 2014 model I was way to work on a project all of a sudden my screen started to get grey clear to the point that I couldn't see anything, I end up turning off the system. I turned on it soon as apple logo lights up it is middle of the line of the screen, then screen has lines everywhere and it crashes at the charge of the osx. I also connected to the external monitor screen very blurry problem.

Is there a recall on this model?

I'm not aware of the recall ant on a MBP of 2014.  From the symptoms you describe, there is a problem with the MBP GPU.  Try a reset of the NVRAM:
