REPEAT THE DOWNLOAD VIA WINDOWS UPDATE

HI HI! Last week, I noticed that the Windows Update icon continues to show I have a new critical update to be installed. I'll go ahead and make this facility, it strengthens its registry backup and it will say it is successful and if you look in the history of successful downloads it will show there as well for all the times I've downloaded it, BUT when the PC is restarted, the icon will be back once again or sometimes in only a few minutes after that the first case was allegedly downloaded. Update is Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - December 2009 (KB890830. So far, I have 7 different instances of the same download the update history. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate, Service Pack 2. I used malwarebytes and SUPERAntispyware to scan the PC and it found no infection. I have AVG Internet Security 9.0 as my anti-virus and firewall. BTW * I noticed my PC is much more slow and made windows Explorer freezes which prompted me to think about an infection, but nothing is found *.

A last round in my bag:

Uninstall AVG Free 9.0 & reboot. Now do a new installation of AVG Free 9.0, this time select the CUSTOM installation option and do NOT install (uncheck) Linkscanner Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, security or the email of crawl components toolbar.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email

  • Driver HP Deskjet 3745 not downloadable via Windows Update in Windows 7.

    Dear Sir / Madam,.

    I use a HP Deskjet 3745 now for several years at home. Recently I got a new laptop from my employer with Windows 7. I would like to install the driver for my printeron this laptop, so I can also print at home. Unfortunately, the update of windows is managed by my employer, if I can't download the software via Windows update.

    Is there another way to get this driver?

    With sincere friendships.

    Martin

    The driver can be downloaded from the Microsoft catalog Site, but the site is not very user-friendly.  The catalog site supports Internet Explorer, other browsers will not work.  Copy this link and paste it in IE: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=deskjet%203740

    You have an 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7?  The 32-bit driver is one that is 11.4 MB in size, the 64-bit version is 11.6 Mb in size. 13.9 MB system is for Server IA64 systems.  Once the file has been downloaded, open a DOS command prompt and change directory to the location where the file was downloaded.  Then insert your USB key (I'll assume it's the X: drive in what follows) and in the BACK of the box type the following:

    Expand * .cab-F: * x:\

    This will extract the files and develop on your X: drive.  You can then take the USB drive to your work machine and start, devices and printers, click Add a printer, have a disk and point to the INF on drive X:.

  • Black screen of death after allowing the download of Windows updates

    If I turn off the Windows Update (never check the updates), everything works fine. If I put "Download updates but let me choose whether to install" I have problems. The PC continuously restarts itself just as the Windows password box appears.
    I find that even if I said not to install updates, it does not account for this and will forward any how. The stop button indicates that the fixes will be installed (kb973923, kb973525, kb936514 & kb956828) after some difficulties, I can get it to boot. And then, during the stop, it install another patch kb960003. Then again, at shutdown, it install another patch. I can't tell which one is installed at this stage because it is impossible to get it working again. Safe mode does not help. I have to go back to a restore point before I set windows update to download the patches use the ERD.
    Why it installs fixes when I told explicitly not to do so?
    How will I know what is\are the origin of the problem patches?
    I have to run my PC without updates, which is obviously not a good idea
    The problem began in late December, front, then it worked OK.

    Hi Mike,.
    Thanks for the reply
    I tried your suggestion without success
    But I think that I managed to solve the problem by updating the BIOS of the motherboard - it has not occurred since.
    Very strange, I would not have thought there could be something in the BIOS that could cause this
    Thanks a lot for your help

    If this is not the case, only a clean install of Windows can solve your problem now IMHO. No, a repair installation [upgrade on-site AKA] do not solve this problem.

  • Cannot receive the Vista SP1 via Windows update

    Hmm... O always waiting for SP1 update through WU. I am at a loss of what kind of drivers that may be causing this not be available.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    I know that I've posted about this before and others have said to download the standalone version but... I was still hoping WU...

    Hi mate,

    Today the question? I mean, if the update of windows still do not offer SP1, just download it if you want to have it installed on your system.

    I really Don t understand your problem, it s quite usual that windows update offers updates/bug fixes sometimes later then service packs are released.
    So just download it and install it on your machine, West no difference between the installation of this "standalone" version or download via windows update.

  • Error 800705AA during the upgrade to Windows 10 via Windows Update tool

    I have my old HP laptop with preinstalled WIndows 7 32 bit. Some time ago, I decided to install Linux alongside Windows, so I deleted the partition that allows you to reinstall the operating system (don't ask my why I deleted it instead of parition HP tools).
    Now, I decided to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 10 but I had a lot of errors during execution of Windows Update. I installed these updates manually and I have no future updates except optionally upgrade Windows 10. Unfortunately when I try to upgrade the system via Windows Update tool, I get an error: 800705AA.
    I tried to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter, but he found nothing. I also downloaded the iso file of Windows 10 and tried to run but I get message informing me that the Windows product key cannot be verified (it's a message in my language mother tongue is not an exact translation). As I said I don't have Windows 7 disk or partition that allows me to perform the repair facility.
    Any ideas what I can do to upgrade my system?

  • Can't get the driver for 32-bit windows 7 HP DeskJet 5440 via windows update.

    Original title: driver HP DeskJet 5440 windows 7 32 bit

    I was unable to get the driver for 32-bit windows 7 HP DeskJet 5440 via windows update.  I also was unbale to find your compatibility Center.  Is there a link were I can down-load the driver directly from.

    Tony,

    In fact, I assumed that yours was always supported by HP * but I understand now that it's not [so I guess that it is more than 10 years because it is their general support period].  {* Mine is a DJ 2540 and is only a few years so I thought a 5440 DJ must be more recent}

    I see that HP gives you general instructions on installing drivers in http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-deskjet-5440-printer-series/445466/model/445467/document/c01796879/ I checked Microsoft update catalog service and nothing found for HP Deskjet 5440, that's why you're not having any success with the generic instructions, giving you these instructions seem to presuppose the existence of a Windows driver for this specific model.  {HP must have given up your specific model before that this catalogue has been compiled, because hardware manufacturers are those that connect to their drivers inside}

    However, my suggestions may solve your problem or maybe not.  They are simply the steps that seem more likely to be successful.  Personally, I'd a system image before you try each of these suggestions so that you can go back to square one if something goes terribly wrong.

    Suggestion 1 - go to the devices & Printers dialog box, click Add a printer, select HP then select HP Deskjet 5400 series [the sequence in the list is awkward, this entry is about 10% of the way to the bottom of the list], click on Next and follow the procedure of menus at its conclusion.  Even if it's completely successful, plan to run my Suggestion 4 below as well in case of future need.

    Suggestion 2 - out whatever the driver that shipped with your printer in the first place, try to install in compatibility mode [right click on its executable, click on the tab compatibility , the value of the check box for run this program in compatibility mode for... and select a BONE the printer worked correctly with.]  Then go to the executable, right-click and select run as administrator.  This idea is not frivolous, until he blew something internally, I was using my 1999/2000 HP Deskjet 1220C successfully on Windows 7 x 64 for four years [despite the HP user forums which implies that this was not possible].

    Suggestion 3 - go back to the HP site to http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-deskjet-5440-printer-series/445466/model/445467 but select 10 Windows as your operating system.  In the results, the Diagnostics Utility Tools point contains now a setup generic [hppiw.exe] who described "HP for Windows printer setup wizard was created to help users Windows 10 download and install the software solution most appropriate for their printer and newer HP HP Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.   Simply run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions. " Download & run [run as Admin] of this file.

    Suggestion 4 - Connect to an Admin-level account first, then, using IE [there than IE], date back to the Microsoft update service catalog and search for HP Deskjet 5400 series.  It will give a lot of results, then click on the driver name in the left column of title to see details for each potential choice [especially if it is 32 or 64 bit].  The top of the list is [32-bit] Microsoft Update for HP Deskjet 5400 Series driver dated June 21, 2006.  [You might also download & file the second element, the 64-bit version, just in case you change computers in the future]  Add the chosen driver [s] to the "trash" then download - you will be asked to select a file to download first {it is at this stage that the process would be a break without further explanation or any error if you had not been connected to an Admin-level account before launching IE}.  I think that these drivers also work with Windows 10 thus, in the hope that your printer works for the years to come, it would be well worth your copies of maintenance of them filed there ready for your next computer use.

    Proposal 5 - go [back] to the forums of user HP Deskjets & find 5440.  See if any of the other suggestions can help you - unless you have already looked through them all the more relevant [I realize that you have been here once already as one of the threads that I just watched was of you].

    We know, in advance, which of these suggestions will lead to the best possible solution.  So please come back to this forum to explain what happened when you tried the.  Your experiences will benefit all users of HP Deskjet 5440 who come here looking for advice.

    Good luck

  • HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p119: Windows 10: since the execution of Windows update, I can't connect to the wireless network

    Hello, HP assistance.

    I'm having a problem with the connection to my home Wi - Fi network. I am sure the problem has nothing to do with my material and is a problem of Windows only.

    Here's the story: I was fortunately with the Internet from the network before and Windows was connecting automatically every time. But since the Windows Update recently it does not connect. Sometimes it says "unable to connect to this network" and then sometimes it comes up with a box asking me to enter a user name and a password. The thing is... I've never set up a password in Windows for Internet access, so I do not know why he was asking me now. I looked around the Internet via my Tablet (which is connected to the same Wi - Fi network fine, with my phone) and found that it is a common problem. And yet, none of the solutions work for me.

    I wonder if the solution is somehow change the settings so that a password is not required to connect to a network. Or maybe enter a default user name and password when the box appears again. That said, the box did not come for a while.

    Help, please!

    Thank you for your query.

    I understand that your mobile phone works well and you didn't have any problems with your wireless connection. After the upgrade to Windows 10, your wireless network is intermittent and will prompt you for a user name and password.

    The guest is not the Internet, but rather to join your network. He is looking for the network name and password.

    When I did a search for HP laptop 15-p119, I was unable to locate this model. Would you please check your model? How can I find my model number or product number?

    After the upgrade to Windows 10 did you all your Windows updates?

    Sometimes it fails to be installed automatically, if you can try running the Troubleshooting of windows update. to maybe gain others.

    You run the HP Support Assistant since the upgrade?

    If the problem persists, once you have established a test of Wi - Fi automatically update drivers Device Manager wireless.

    • Right click on the Windows button in the bottom left corner, then choose Device Manager

    • Click network to expand the list

    • Right click on the wireless adapter and choose put updated driver

    Select "Automatically search for updated driver software" this month may start a download to install a newer driver.

  • How to solve the problem with Windows Update on Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium SP1; Module Windows install encounter error 126, impossible to run/scannow sfs or TrustedInstaller. Help, please

    Hello

    First of all, thank you in advance for any advice for any help, you can offer.

    A week ago I noticed that Windows Update had a backlog of updates (30-40) as I had it value updates but let me choose whether to install them. As I tried to install, I noticed download election for hours but no visible progress in the taskbar and only a few updates installed on restart. Try to check the updates of similar results. I tried a number of solutions suggested here as a tool for troubleshooting Windows Update, but it made that seem to clear my list of updates to uninstall and make sure Windows Update has been under the impression that I had never checked the updates, apparently a worsening of the problem like today no update appeared and I encountered error 8007000D.

    I've tried other options like Windows system update readiness tool and tried to run the sfc/scannow System File Checker, but what who would not (cannot start service repair) I grew more and more worried. On recommendation from other forums, I tried also to start TrustedInstaller in command prompt, which does not. Unfortunately, I had run a Disk Defrag and clean-up recently which had been deleted and (unbeknownst to me) my last restore point. The root of the problem seems to be the Windows Modules Installer, which does not start when you are prompted in Services (error 126), something wrong with the registry may. So reluctantly, I tried to perform a repair installation using a downloaded iso, I burned onto a DVD (insured was also Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit SP1). However, even if it doesn't seem to work, it is constantly check for installation updates (unless this is supposed to last several hours?) or if I opt not not to check, it pass the compatibility check and then fail in the second stage (collection of files, settings, and programs). I tried several times, once in offline mode with my disabled (Norton) antivirus and once in clean boot mode.

    I don't know what other options I have. I would like to avoid a clean as much as possible installation, because my computer (HP laptop) still seems to operate normally (for the moment) outside the impossibility to install Windows updates (via Windows Update or directly from Microsoft, it seems), but I think it would just leave vulnerable more and more over time. Has anyone else had similar problems and has found a way to solve? I'm not a computer expert so any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

    Try the troubleshooting steps in this link: error message when you start the service installer of Modules of Windows (TrustedInstaller): "system error 126: the specific module could not be found".

    If you select the download updates but let me choose... option, no update will install without your approval. Suppose an update will require a reboot and does not approve the installation of an update until & unless you are ready to restart.

    You can change the setting "notify only". Once you have done this, you will need to approve the updates are downloaded updates are installed commandeLorsque, which they are installed.

    I prefer "Notify only" setting.

    When they are installed.

    What are the differences between Windows updates and automatic updates from Microsoft Updates?

    While Windows Update provides updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live [as well as Silverlight & Microsoft Security Essentials]. Update automatic is a feature that allows you to configure your PC to automatically download and install updates using each service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your current Windows PC.

    Source: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/windowsupdate/FAQ.mspx>

    If you disable Microsoft Update, your default update source is "reversed" update of Windows, but it does NOT neutralize automatic updates.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
